Cube was one such project. (Source: Sardonicast 150 [timestamp: 00:16:09])There's a perpetual unease and oppression to Cube that meshes well with its pacing. One angle about Cube's story is that of how there are unwitting participants in systematic issues. The characters are all named in reference to prison, although not all the characters are named after prison's, as Kathryn learned down the grapevine.Melvin, "[Cube] at some point is a math movie."Melvin talks about his current fascination with numbers as a definitive thing a world of excessive subjectivities.Because the setting and scenario of the cube is so static, the film allows for complex, dynamic character interactions.Thoughts on the ending, and the cube as a metaphor for life.Recommendations:Authority by Jeff VanderMeer (2014) (Book)Saw (2004) (Movie)MAILBAG: Send questions with your first name and we'll answer them in future episodes! PUBLIC VERSION. Filmmaker Vincenzo Natali (CUBE, SPLICE, TV's HANNIBAL) joins Adam, Joe, and Arwen to discuss his career journey and the creation of his new graphic novel TECH. From his desire to tell a story in the graphic novel medium where he wouldn't be limited by a budget… to the creative freedom that came with writing the story and creating all of the artwork on his own… to the gratification of knowing that a graphic novel would definitely be realized and released without succumbing to the many hurdles that come with the traditional filmmaking process… Vincenzo walks the boys through his long process of bringing TECH to life on the page. The group also discusses how filmmaking has changed now that streaming is king… whether or not movies are still connecting with audiences on the cultural level that they used to now that they're primarily treated like weekly/monthly content to be consumed at home… how originality has become a risk when audiences are so happy to consume endless IP based titles and characters as well as rehashed stories that they are already familiar with… and the price Hollywood has paid by making films and television series so cheap for audiences to access. Dr. Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” for an aspiring filmmaker dealing with a visual roadblock, Adam shares a story about botching an adaptation pitch at the very the start of his career, and the boys ponder the future of the industry once the WGA strike has been resolved.

It's time to get radical AND mathematical with this week's episode of TDW! Revisiting an old classic with an admitted problematic streak, Skeptik takes the wheel with the 1997 Vincenzo Natali film: Cube! When seven - oh wait, make that six - strangers wake up in mysterious, cube shaped rooms with exits in each direction and absolutely no idea how they got there, what else could ensue besides a series of educated guesses, petard hoistings, and finally ill-advised betrayals. It will also be available on VOD platforms via Cinedigm and Bloody Disgusting on the same day. The movie features a group of strangers waking up in a mysterious room filled with deadly traps and working together to survive. Original Cube writer-director Vincenzo Natali serves as an executive producer. Subscribe today at https://bit.ly/3Fu6lxx for the latest episodes. We almost gave away our opinion of tonight's movie in the opening act, but we promise not to spoil it. Linda Blair is making an appearance in the upcoming Blumhouse sequel to the original Exorcist film, but we recommend watching her performance in Repossessed. We discuss the movie Scott Pilgrim, which is getting an anime adaptation with the original cast reprising their roles. The movie features video game-like elements and a plot where the main character must defeat his girlfriend's seven evil ex-boyfriends. Universal Studios is remaking the 1956 horror film The Mole People, which we question the reasoning behind. However, we mention an adult swim show called Saul of the Mole Men that may have been inspired by the original film. We speculate about a potential Harry Potter TV show on HBO and jokingly suggest a show focused on bad wizards who couldn't get into the school. Tonight's movie is Corvette Summer, starring Mark Hamill and Annie Potts. Dangerous Dave gets fixated on the salary of a high school teacher in the 1980s while discussing box office success. We discuss a new Cube horror movie dropping on Screambox on April 11th and reminisce about the original 1997 Cube movie. We briefly mention horror movies shot on video and wonder if a deer feels shame and has to put on clothes. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Based on the video game franchise of the same name starring Pedro Pascal of "The Mandalorian" fame as Joel, and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, we begin our adventure with the duo and start to learn their journey. Enrique is a big fan of the series as he played the first game on release and has beaten The Last Of Us Part II, with the first part being in his top 5-10 video games of all time. Eli enjoyed the story of the game but the gameplay left him struggling to continue so he is excite to pick up the TV show, and Tristan is a virgin to the franchise! Since the trailer, we all have been excited to review episode 1 and are now patiently waiting for episode 2 to drop after the small little preview at the end of the episode! During the talk of the show, we talk about one of the best subtle horror scenes in television history, the introduction and death of Joel's daughter Sarah, the amazing world and how desensitized everyone is to it after 20 years have past! Listen to our reaction! After that, we talk about Chloe Grace Moretz's, of Kickass fame, newest project sci fi series The Peripheral! Our talks about the show included discussion our stupidity and how maybe we just don't have the brain capacity to dissect the entirety of the series. During how discussion we gave our loves to Conner the war veteran who lost all but one of his limbs in an explosion trying to save a dog in the war in Texas in 2032, how we felt a disconnect amongst many characters ESPICEALLY Tommy who was a mark azz trick, and how the show could of set itself up to have a really strong season 2 but didn't do what we would have liked to seen. Next week, we return to a sci-fi world when we watch Bladerunner 2049! Series Synopsis: The Last of Us is an American post-apocalyptic drama television series created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann for HBO. The supporting cast features Gabriel Luna as Joel's younger brother Tommy and Anna Torv as Joel's smuggler partner Tess. The Last of Us, said to be the largest television production in Canadian history, was filmed in Alberta from July 2021 to June 2022.
