Hi soulful peeps today we got a legend Guest DJ and Producer on the show Distant People from the UK The musical act Distant People is the brainchild of UK DJ and producer Joey Silvero. A former DJ in the vibrant Midlands Drum and Bass scene, Joey caught the House Music bug while running the now defunct record store Fat Grooves. As he began to DJ in House venues like Miss Moneypenny's and Passion's Red Room he was drawn to the inevitable path of musical production. Joey developed a connection with two fantastic song writers- Tasita D'Mour and Patrick Chappell. These two talented veterans have had a great deal of influence on Joey's musical works. Joey's first major release, “Just Sing” on Foliage Records was met with critical praise and commercial success and was a featured track on the Defected Miami Compilation 2009. Joey currently has a slew of new releases on Large, Purple, Sole Channel, Metrogroove and Tribe. He can be heard regularly as a DJ on SSR radio and is soon to be joining the international DJ circuit. Distant people are also behind the act Sister Pearl featured on Tribe records, the first track is called Bang the drum which includes the vocal talents of Tasita D'mour, the follow up tracks to the first release are due to release very soon! The 2012 Pirate Bar Set    I am back in Greece in the magnificent island of Hydra but sadly for one day only. It is summer, I felt a sun-drenched, beach house set was “de rigueur”. I prepared 120 minutes of melodic chilled house, hoping to drop the set at the best bar in Greece., the Pirate Bar. As a “Pirate Bar” set is becoming a yearly fixture for me, get ready, close your eyes and picture THIS:   You start in the bliss of your hammock, shaded by a parasol, your skin softened by the Mediterranean sun. From the bliss of your afternoon rest, your head start shifting sensually to the right, to the left, with that distinctive shoulder roll. Your eyes still closed, you smile, you just smile to the music.. Lazily sipping your frappe, you notice your feet rhythmically bouncing to the measure of those summer beats. Incrementally, your feet, your hands, your soul cannot resist… You stand up, arch your back and just know that you should let the music use you. With “Real Love” by Frankie Rizado, we are starting to wake up with a slightly techie gem. I do like the feel of my edit of “Cali” by DJ Fudge. The original is perfect but you all know my addiction to acapellas.. with Deeper Life continuing the Deep techie groove with a massive bassline. “Giving You The Light” (Shane D Remix)… this is the track that get’s you on your feet.. Perfect summer tune! And when you have Shane D, you know Grant Nelson cannot be too far away.. I am not sure that my attempt at mashing up Grant’s “Sundown” and “The Phuture Ain’t…” was absolutely necessary but the Boy needs to try all those buttons on the deck.. “Save” by John Julius Knight is irresistible.. You NEED to pick up the sampling, it is pure genius.. “I Need U Back” and “Music is High” are happy house tunes, with very, very clever pads. To close the mix we have the holy trinity: Purple Music, Jamie Lewis and Marc Evans.. House royalty.. Who can resist the Deepness of Marc Evans voice.. Not ME!! Without You will become a Marc Evans classic and you heard it first here! The final mix in this year's Beach House series is a culmination of the two previous mixes but with a more funky attitude and some Latin and Jazzy beats thrown in for good measure.  I guess this pretty much does it for now but rest assured I am currently compiling the Summer Edition, which I'm hoping to have out late next week. I have a HUGE week ahead of me with something big happening every day.  I will no doubt be a very busy boy so we'll see how I can rectify that and manage to get the next series out.  Since I want everyone to have a slammin' summer, I'll do my best.
