The Gents return from holiday break by starting the show to pay their respects to Jason David Frank (2:00), who was most famous for playing Tommy Oliver in the hit franchise Power Rangers. The impact that Frank had on the nerd world was more than substantial, infamously debuting as the Green Ranger in the franchise and being multiple Rangers throughout the history of the series. The Gents acknowledge that Frank suffered from depression and passed due to the results of suicide. EstoBro and TV relay the information about the suicide and crisis lifeline, and want the listening audience to know that they are dedicated to bringing more attention to mental health awareness. After the salutations and introduction of the hosts, EstoBro wants to put Nintendo and GameFreak on blast for fumbling the release of the latest installment of the Pokémon franchise (13:45). He has been playing Pokémon Violet since its release earlier in the month, as he relays the abysmal reviews the game has received and all of the malfunctions players are experiencing playing the game. Could this be the downfall of EstoBro's favorite franchise that he no longer purchases another Pokémon game ever again? As the subject changes back to sports, TV has been more than excited to share the early results of the World Cup taking place in Qatar (29:30). The Gents make their analysis of the competition after the series of episodes that had their review of each national team in the group stages. The attention of their home country of the United States is given the kudos they deserve, especially after advancing to the round of sixteen after defeating Iran the day after recording (38:50). The Gents also break down other countries that will be advancing, including some surprises that they did not see originally coming. As the show wraps with the 'Who has the munchies?' segment of the show, EstoBro puts TV on the spot in the regard to Thanksgiving leftovers (48:30). The creative disasters that EstoBro conspired are met with interruptions from Hello Nurse and Mandy Hatake, as his credentials of being an ambassador of Flavortown are in jeopardy.   Song credit: "1-800-273-8255" by Logic, Alessia Cara,  and Khalid from Everybody; licensing exclusively through Visionary Music Group and Def Jam Records. Over years of working for management companies, Coren has amassed extensive knowledge on every aspect of the music and creative industries, especially the drastic ways it's changed largely due to the rise of social media platforms. Close the doors. Be fearful when others are greedy. Be greedy when others are fearful."   Raising capital for your startup can be a daunting task for many who have the dream of scaling fast. It is important that you get skilled in how to attract the right investors to your business.   In this episode of The Entrepreneurial You podcast, Swish shares his journey of how he went about attracting the right investors to jump on board with Trufan. Here is a snippet of what she shared on this episode of the podcast:   Networking “Typically what we did  for the previous two years before starting Trufan, I was very much networking; I was getting out there in the community, I was meeting people. I actually interviewed a lot of foreign investors in a LinkedIn publication that I started. I wrote about their life story; I wrote about the advice they would give young people and started to build a relationship with them that way...new venture capital came on, but it was also a mix of them and angels and those angels weren't just NBA players. They were friends and family members that we got in and got $20,000 from each of them. That's the way that we went about preparing for the round. We deeply networked for the last three, four years.” ----   Hot Point: More people are likely to say yes to you interviewing them than if you ask them for coffee.    Please share it with a friend. This week on A Waste of Time with ItsTheReal, we welcome COO of Visionary Music Group, Harrison Remler to sit down with us at our new apartment on the Upper West Side! Part of Logic's management team for the past seven years and a 2018 recipient of the Forbes 30 Under 30 honor, Harrison discusses his upbringing on the north shore of Long Island, his dedication to high school baseball, his father's dreams of him becoming a big league relief pitcher, meeting Mariano Rivera at a restaurant in Panama, and why the flame of top-tier athletics burned out at his Division III school, Vassar College. Harry, well-aware of the power of social media and the music blogs, used both to start a college career as a concert promoter, getting his artists respectable pay days whether for high school proms or selling out NYC's Canal Room. At the time, he looked up to independent managers like Benji Grinberg and Will Dzombak, and when he garnered the interest of Logic's manager, Chris Zarou, he immediately offered to intern in exchange for the chance to learn the ins and outs of the music business. Harry details moving around the United States at age 19 as Logic's tour manager, the big responsibilities, the ridiculous quandaries and the large amounts of money that fell on his shoulders - none of it going into his own pockets - but knowing that he was an early part of something significant, putting together Logic's first appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and the life-changing moment where he had to decide between traveling to a Spring Break tourney with his baseball team, or joining Logic on his first European tour. We get into Logic's signing to Def Jam, working on Jon Bellion's career, learning how to push and poke and encourage a major music label while operating out of a basement in Long Island, and the most gratifying moment of his career, Logic's VMA performance which brought together suicide survivors and spread awareness. Miami rapper Sylvan LaCue is using his authenticity to drive his artistry, and he's making waves. After the release of his critically acclaimed mixtape “Searching Sylvan” in 2009, he joined Logic's Visionary Music Group record label under the name of QuEST. After an enlightening debit transaction with a barista, he changed his name and left Visionary not too long after. In our interview with Sylvan, we learned more about why he left that group, and what inspired him to create WiseUp & Co., a music collective that bridges the gap between fans and artists. Listen to him talk about how his music doesn't sound like it's from Miami, authenticity in Hip Hop, and the 8 page letter his fan gave him on how his music saved his life. Each and every Wednesday we'll be uploading a brand new interview with a guest we feel that you should know about.
