Episode 386 of Boss Hog of Liberty is out! Jeremiah Morrell and Zach Burcham are the host voices. Rusty and Ken Eckstein are our guests. They owned Mt Comfort RV in Hancock County, and recently sold the dealership to Camping World. Ken is active in the industry and recently worked to craft a bill with the Indiana General Assembly that will change how dealerships and manufacturers interact. Rusty shares the economic impact of the new federal tariffs on imported items that go into RVs, and how that affects the Indiana economy. More than 80% of RV's are made in Indiana. Additionally, 10% of those campers are then exported to Canada, which is now enacting their own retaliatory tariffs on imported American products. Mt Comfort RV was also involved with the Indy 500, and we get some stories of their time “loaning campers” to drivers, and the special opportunities that created. After the 1838 “Mormon War” and their official expulsion from Missouri, Latter-day Saints relocated to Illinois where they built up the city of Nauvoo and a number of other settlements in Hancock County. After a short time of relative peace, they were again embroiled in conflict with their enemies which culminated in the murder of Joseph and Hyrum Smith. This was followed two years later by the battle of Nauvoo and yet another expulsion from a US state with the blessing of its governor. Then it was off to the West where, not long after the Saints' arrival in the Salt Lake Valley, conflicts began to arise with Native Americans. And by 1857 US President James Buchanan had ordered a force of 2,500 military personnel, under the command of Colonel Albert Sidney Johnston, to march to Utah to ensure that Brigham Young be replaced as the governor of Utah, which brought on the “Utah War.”   Today on Church History Matters, we discuss all of this and of course trace Latter-day Saint involvment in the violence which occured along the way.  For show notes and transcript for this and other episodes go to https://doctrineandcovenantscentral.org/church-history-matters-podcast/

Mateo Jaramillo, co-founder and CEO of Form Energy, said the newly announced plans mark “the largest energy storage project based on energy capacity announced yet in the world.” The company is actively finishing construction on its factory in Weirton, breaking ground just over a year ago. It marks Form Energy's first high-volume manufacturing facility, located on a 55-acre plot. The company is currently testing its manufacturing lines and recruiting workers to prepare for higher-capacity production by the end of the year. The Kanawha County Commission joined U.S. Senator Joe Manchin among other dignitaries helping to fund the initiative, as well as representatives of the facility, for a groundbreaking ceremony earlier this month to kick off the series of upgrades. The Shawnee Sports Complex Welcome Center is set to go from 2,500 square feet to 12,000 square feet by sometime next year, and will bring more restrooms and concessions along with it. Since the facility's opening in 2018, it has drawn in $150 million in economic impact and athletes and spectators from across the east coast.  Shawnee has also been host to some of the biggest sports competitions in the eastern United States, such as the Eastern U.S. Soccer Regional Tournament that has brought in about $32 million every year out of five years it has been being held at the complex.
