Kara is back in National City (or is she? The jury is still out on that) and she's returned from the Phantom Zone with her father, Zor-El. After years in the Phantom Zone and still riddled with guilt over the death of his home planet, Papa El is determined to make sure that Earth's climate crisis is averted. This is one of those times where even Supergirl's ever-present optimism falls short. Everyone kind of agrees that the climate crisis is a big deal and may require a different skill set than the Super Friends have to offer. But Papa El is insistent that Earth does not follow the path of Krypton so it's the Super Friends vs. Climate Change this week.  Kara is also struggling with her return to her life as a mild-mannered reporter because she's been assigned to look into the Phantom attacks (which were a byproduct of the team trying to rescue her) and she's dealing with PPSD, Post-Phanthom Stress Disorder. It's always great to see shows tackling the trauma of superheroing and Kara has been through a lot recently. Even a "love conquers all" hero like Supergirl has their breaking point. Listen to more as we talk about trauma, family issues, and the fineness of Papa El on this week's review Supergirl.    Like what you hear? Kara has returned from the Phantom Zone.  It is a place where despair reigns supreme and time doesn't advance.  Lena designed a yellow sun bomb to reinvigorate her best friend and break her out of that dark, hopeless place. Supergirl is home but the Phantom Zone still haunts her. Alex will not leave her side.  They are stronger together.  As an unstoppable force they will take on whatever National City has to face next. Andrea is irritated that Kara did not come back to work with a big story.  Catco is falling behind the other news outlets and Ms. Rojas is desperate to get back on top. As Acrata she uses her shadow power to get a lead on Supergirl. If she can report on not only the Maid of Steel but her team as well that could put Catco back in the top spot. The Superfriends would be a great cover story. Kara has always been able to talk to Supergirl so Andrea puts her on the case. When Kara reads about the phantoms her team had to deal with in her absence her blood runs cold. Uncle Archie aka Zor-El is adjusting to life under a yellow sun. He is interested in learning what his daughter has been doing here on Earth. He flies with her to put out a garbage fire before it can become an ecological disaster. Zor-El is concerned because death of the oceans is what spelled doom for Krypton. Kara shows her father the fortress. That is where he develops an idea to modify Kalex to dispose of trash in a nontoxic way. The plan seems successful at first.  Then the power core in the droid malfunctions causing the trash to not disappear but pile onto itself. This causes a giant being made of rubbish to form and threaten the city. The team must work together using their various strengths to vanquish “Bad Trash”.  Zor-El decides it is time to head to Argo City to face Allura. Lena wants to go home and explore her roots on her mother's side.  Kara and Alex return to the couch for some dinner and some wine. Alex reiterates to Kara that she will be with her every step of the way as she deals with the trauma caused by the Phantom Zone. Stronger together! Always and forever! This is the strength they will draw on as Nia is awakened by a dream of Nyxly. A maiden sure to cause some mischief as our story continues…

She is neither human nor Kryptonian but her powers rival those of Supergirl. She was made by witches on Krypton to dispense justice to the galaxy. On the day of their planet's demise they sent her to Earth, not wanting to lose the results of their work. She was raised on Earth, as a human with no sign of special abilities. She was named Sam Arias and had a successful life. A human life that blessed her with a daughter named Ruby. This is something her creators did not expect. When Sam starts hearing voices in her head and having nightmares, she knows something is wrong. What she doesn't know is she is fulfilling the destiny that the witches made for her. She will rise. She will reign. Made to be a world killer, Reign now has her sights set on Earth. However, this is a woman composed of two minds Sam and Reign. I think some will underestimate how strong Sam can be. When Reign defeats Supergirl in an epic battle the tears well up in GreenButterfly's eyes. If Supergirl cannot defeat Reign, who can? Our Maid of Steel vanquished the world killer in the end but it was Ruby that saved Sam. I know Lena's scientific work played a significant role in her recovery. I wholeheartedly believe Sam's love for her daughter is what prevented Reign from taking total control of her mind and body. Join Green Butterfly and Silver Vox as we revisit one of the most compelling characters of this series. Someone we would love to see back in season six. Based on her origins Sam should still have powers despite Lena's treatment. Reign did not emerge until Sam was an adult. What does that mean for Ruby as she grows up? In the Comics it is Zor El that made the World Killers. Is that why he really ended up in the Phantom Zone? Did the world killer project lead to the destruction of Krypton? Green Butterfly and Silver Vox are looking forward to a great discussion with all of our super friends.  We are Stronger Together!  We are Maid of Steel!

We are back to get Kara out of the Phantom Zone with Zor El and Nxy!  That said, we are also on hiatus until August when the show comes back.  The episodes were entertaining, but predictable, leading us to wonder if we finally got the slump the show never had before in the six seasons that it's been improving.  The best episodes were the Back to the Future ones with Brainy and Nia being centered, allowing the actors to show their incredible comedic and dramatic range. We also noticed that the costume department hit up the Walking Dead wig department for the Cat Grant wig (they did our girl so dirty).  The acting in these four episodes are solid, we are just a little concerned about the storytelling.  Take a listen and a watch and let us know what you think!   Like what you hear? The Doctor and Shanna are back to review the first three episodes of Supergirl Season 6.  Debuting almost a year after it wrapped last year due to the pandemic, we pick up where we left off without a hiccup in the rhythm.  Lex is defeated at the cost of Kara being deported to the Phantom Zone, which is fractured into a multiverse thanks to Crisis.  However, Lex is never down and stages a comeback that puts the target on Lena's back.  The gang learns to soldier on without her, and Kara is reunited with her father Zor-El and who we suspect to be Jor-El's break baby Nyxlgsptinz.   Like what you hear? At the Fortress of Solitude, Kara learns that Henshaw was after "Medusa", a virus created by her father, Zor-El, to kill non-Kryptonian in case of alien invasion. At L-Corp, she stops Henshaw from getting the isotope required to disperse Medusa. Lena refuses to help when Kara reveals that Lillian is Cadmus' leader. Later, Lena willingly gives Lillian the isotope. Kara and J'onn confront the Luthors and Henshaw before Medusa is launched via rocket. J'onn fights Henshaw, becoming a White Martian, while Kara chases the rocket, which explodes and disperses Medusa. However, Lena has double-crossed Lillian and rendered the virus inert. Lillian is arrested but Henshaw escapes. Eliza cures Mon-El and uses Medusa to restore J'onn's Green Martian form. Alex comes out to Eliza, who supports her. Later, Maggie and Alex kiss after Maggie admits she does have feelings for Alex. An unknown alien race is searching for Mon-El. On this edition of The Word balloon podcast, a conversatio with thecreative team on Supergirl, Sterling Gates and Jamal Igle. They discussSupergirl, from the recent reveal that Lucy Lane is the new Superwoman,to the death of Zor-El, and the fallout from New Krypton. There'splenty of chracter dissections of Lana Lang, Allura Cat Grant and KaraZor-El herself, and their views on where all these strong women fit, inthis corner of the DC Superverse. Some quotes from the conversation...On Lucy Lane/Superwoman's role as Kara's new enemy. Gates: "I wanted a villain that can act as a Lex Luthor type...when New Krypton wastold to me, I thought it was a master stroke on Geoff (Johns)  andJames(Robinson's) part having General Lane be the main bad guy...whatgreat drama you get having Lois'sfamily be against the Superman family?...There's some more crazy stuff coming up with Superwoman."On the character designs for the leading women in the series.. Igle: When It comes to Supergirl the very first conversation I had with MattIdelson He said, 'I don't want to see Supergirl's panties again,' and Iagreed ...I think there should be a coy sexiness about her but I don'tthink it should be as overt as it's been drawn...it just didn't fit myimage of what a teenaged Supergirl is supposed to be...she's Superman'scousin, and should be, even by default, sort of a role model to younggirls..."(ForLana's Asian influenced outfits) My wife Corrine works in the fashionindustry for a company that does a lot of photo touch ups for Vouge,Cosmo, Louis Viton... so I get to see all these fashionmaterials... I was thinking more in terms of something a littleeclectic but business like...with Cat, it's all Victoria Secret andFredrick's of Holywood...the sluttiest dresses I can find (laughs)."Gates: "I guess that means write more Cat Grant scenes."On The Death of Zor El Gates: "Going in, Geoff and Ja
