Supergirl is a 2026 American superhero film based on the DC Comics superheroine Kara Zor-El / Supergirl. Directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, it is the second film in the DC Universe (DCU). This film is the second the DC Cinematic Universe and is based on the comic book series of the same name. The film stars Milly Alcock as the titular character along with Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley & Emily Beecham. David Corenswet reprises his role as “Superman” from the 2025 film. Jason Momoa also returns to the DC Universe as a new character. Momoa played “Aquaman” from 2016 - 2023 in DC's previous cinematic universe. In this film, Kara Zor-El is celebrating her 23rd birthday by going to parties on different planets but the celebration takes an unexpected turn as her trusted sidekick, Krypto, is poisoned by a gang of space bikers who have been causing death and destruction in this part of the universe. The film and story was reworked following the demise of the previous cinematic universe and once James Gunn and Peter Safren took over DC films, a reboot was confirmed in 2023. While no plans for a sequel have been confirmed, Gunn and Alcock have stated that we would more of Supergirl in upcoming DC projects. The film hit theaters nationwide on June 26th, 2026.

A new Supergirl film was announced in January 2023 as an adaptation of the 2021–22 comic book miniseries Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. Nogueira was hired by November 2023; Alcock was cast in January 2024 to debut in the first DCU film, Superman (2025); and Gillespie joined that May. Filming took place from January to May 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden and London in England, and in Scotland.Supergirl premiered in Brooklyn on June 22, 2026, and was theatrically released by Warner Bros. Pictures in the United States on June 26. It is part of the DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. SUPERMAN CAMEO ALREADY?! Greg Alba, Coy Jandreau, and Roxy Striar react to the brand-new Supergirl trailer from DC Studios and James Gunn's DCU! This new look gives us a much better sense of the movie's tone, scale, and emotional core, including our best trailer look yet at Milly Alcock's Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, Jason Momoa's Lobo, the destruction and trauma tied to Argo, the intergalactic revenge quest with Ruthye, and the major role Krypto plays in kicking off the story. Director Craig Gillespie has described the film as a sci-fi epic inspired in part by True Grit and John Wick, with Kara helping Ruthye track down Krem after Ruthye's family is murdered and Krypto is poisoned. "The Old Guard 2" is a sequel to 2020's "The Old Guard" starring Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngô, and Chiwetel Ejiofor reprising their roles from the first film while Henry Golding and Uma Thurman join the cast.
