Communicating via WhatsApp has become so popular in recent times both for calling, texting and video conferencing. Despite its widespread use, it still has its limitation and the owning company is constantly upgrading its functions. One of the limitations is the calling feature which does not give an indication to the caller if the recipient's phone is on or off. Traditional way of calling via a mobile or land phone means if the phone you are calling is switched off, you will be alerted. Whereas with WhatsApp if the phone you are calling is switched off, it continues to ring as though the phone is on. This right there is a cause to a lot of arguments in relationships. In today's podcast, Bimbola & Jo talked about this in more detail. You really don't want to miss this episode. It's all over the news and social media, the brutal murder of George Floyd, the 46 year old black male known to his friends as 'Big Floyd' in Minneapolis. The breakout of the corona virus has sent the whole world into a lockdown as the safety measure to curtail its spread. However the lockdown in itself is predicted to cause an expected rise in the number of separation and divorce. Relationships that were suffering before the lockdown are expected to get worse. Spending time with a spouse should be a positive thing but under the strict lockdown conditions, might bring existing issues to light forcing the couple to either work to fix their issues or come to the painful realisation that it's probably best to go separate ways. In today's podcast, Bimbola and Jo were joined by recurring guest Elizabeth Ayelabola to discuss the impact the lockdown has had on their marriages. The effect of the lockdown cannot be ignored when it comes to the young ones. Children also have their own worries and fears about Coronavirus. Their daily routine has changed, life is very different. Their lives have been turned upside down by the pandemic and for most children the world they knew have literally just disappeared. No more school, friends to play with, exams to prepare for, extracurricular activities cancelled and inability to see loved ones who are not resident in the same house. We cannot assume they will all cope very well. It's important we pay attention to their feelings, acknowledge these feelings and help them through this period. In today's podcast, Bimbola and Jo were joined by Phinnah Chichi who is a Parenting Teens Educator, Consultant, Speaker, School governor and Mentor and the conversation was geared towards how we can help our children cope better during the lockdown and ensure they come out of with a sound mental health. We were also joined by the children who clearly had a thing or two to say about the lockdown. Join us in this discussion via instagram, twitter, facebook or email. The pandemic has resulted in many losing their jobs and businesses shutting down unfortunately making the need for the discussion for having multiple source of income one to be had. When there's a crash in one stream, the ability to stay afloat can only be possible if there's revenue coming in from another stream. However this retailer is owned by a company who have other businesses in the food sector. They might be able to survive the pandemic due to income received in their other businesses. The law around organ donation is changing in the United Kingdom. From Spring 2020, all adults in England will be considered an organ donor when they die unless they had recorded a decision to opt out. This has stirred a bit of an interesting debate in the country and in today's podcast episode, Bimbola and Jo were joined by Elizabeth Ayelabola and Uche Lottee-Anajemba to discuss this interesting topic and come at it from a cultural perspective. Last weekend, Bimbola and Jo joined a group of women on a retreat themed Broken and Blessed. The retreat was quite therapeutic and there were lots to learn from the speakers and other attendees. Most people at face value might not consider themselves broken but if you delve deeper into their life experiences, one would see several areas of brokenness. This could be a broken dream, a broken opportunity, a broken marriage, a broken relationship, a broken promise and the list goes on. What you do with your brokenness is what makes the difference between a happy woman or a depressed woman.
