It's Friday, February 21st, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark 10th anniversary of Muslim beheading of 21 Libyan Christians Saturday was the 10th anniversary of when 21 Christians died for their faith in Libya. Islamic State militants beheaded them on February 15, 2015 for refusing to deny Christ. Most of the believers were Egyptian Coptic Christians. Vicky Hartzler with the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom said, “Today, we remember the 21 young men who were brutally murdered by ISIS solely for being Christian. The U.S. government must continue to be an unrelenting voice against violence that targets religious communities, including Coptic Christians.” In memory of the 21 Christian martyrs, More Productions released a short, 13-minute animated film last year called “The 21.” You can watch it through a special link in our transcript today at TheWorldview.com. Libya has been in turmoil since 2011 and the overthrow of its then-leader, Col. Muammar Gaddafi. Since then, numerous other militia groups have battled for control. According to Open Doors, Libya is the fourth most dangerous country worldwide in which to be a Christian. 74-year-old pro-life woman arrested for praying outside abortion mill Authorities in Scotland arrested a 74-year-old pro-life woman recently for standing silently outside an abortion mill in Glasgow. Rose Docherty was holding a sign that read, “Coercion is a crime, here to talk, only if you want.” Officials charged her with violating a new “buffer zone” law that limits activities around abortion mills. It's the first arrest under the law. The arrest comes days after U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance called out European leaders for violating the religious freedom of pro-lifers. Kash Patel confirmed as FBI Director In the United States, the U.S. Senate confirmed Kash Patel as FBI Director on February 20th, reports The Epoch Times. PRESIDING OFFICER: “The Yeas are 51; the Nays are 49. The confirmation is confirmed.” Senators voted 51–49 to confirm Patel who gained prominence for exposing alleged FBI and Justice Department malfeasance during the Crossfire Hurricane probe into the Trump campaign. Crossfire Hurricane was the code name for the counterintelligence investigation undertaken by the FBI from July 2016 to May 2017, into links between Donald Trump's presidential campaign and Russia. Republican Senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine crossed the aisle to join Democrats in voting against Patel's nomination. Surprisingly, GOP Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky supported Trump's nominee. Republican Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa, age 91, serves as the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Before the vote was cast, he made this last-minute appeal. GRASSLEY: “Mr. Patel has spent his whole career fighting for righteous causes. He's been a public defender, representing the accused against the power of the state. He's been a congressional staffer, investigating the partisan weaponization of our legal system. And he served in key national security roles, protecting Americans from foreign enemies. He's received support from former FBI agents, former federal and state prosecutors, and organizations representing more than 680,000 law enforcement officers. “But Mr. Patel's resume, his accomplishments, aren't why he's the best person for this job. Mr. Patel should be considered our next FBI director because the FBI has been infected by political bias and weaponized against the American people. Mr. Patel knows it. Mr. Patel exposed it. I've got plenty of examples to show what's wrong with the FBI.” Kash Patel wrote the 2024 book entitled, Government Gangsters: The Deep State, the Truth, and the Battle for Our Democracy. Military chaplain fired for citing Romans 1 in sermon A Veterans Affairs chaplain is fighting for his religious freedom. Rusty Trubey served as a chaplain at the Coatesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Pennsylvania. However, Veterans Affairs removed him from his duties for preaching a sermon from Romans 1. The sermon was entitled, “When a Culture Excludes God,” and included homosexuality as an example. First Liberty Institute and the Independence Law Center are representing Trubey. Last week, they sent a letter to Douglas Collins, the U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs. The letter noted, “This is a systemic problem. We know that you will do the right thing to correct not only the unconstitutional policies at the Coatesville Facility, but also throughout our [Veterans Affairs] system.” 2 Timothy 4:2 says, “Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.” U.S. poll: Only 40% believe in God of Bible; 4% have Biblical worldview Dr. George Barna released his latest American Worldview Inventory report. The study found that 46% of Americans agree that there is only one Supreme Spiritual Being who created and rules everything in existence. That number rose to 60% among self-identified Christians. Dr. Barna noted many have a mix-and-match approach to faith: “The latest research finds that while two-thirds of Americans identify as Christian, only 4% hold a Biblical worldview. Even more alarming, just 40% believe in the God of the Bible, down from 73% three decades ago. Instead, Syncretism—blending elements from multiple worldviews—has become the dominant perspective.” Joshua 24:15 says, “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Meta plans to build 30,000-mile-long sub-sea cable And finally, Meta announced last week it is building the world's largest sub-sea cable. The tech giant is known for its social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Under its new plan called Project Waterworth, it will bring industry-leading connectivity around the world. The cable will connect five major continents and measure over 30,000 miles. That's more than the earth's entire circumference! It's Thursday, February 13th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Iran arrested two Christians Article 18 reports that authorities in Iran arrested two Christians last Thursday. Nasser Navard Gol-Tapeh and Joseph Shabazian are both in their 60s. They had previously spent a combined six years in prison for leading house churches. They originally received 10-year sentences, but were released part way through. It's not clear why officials arrested Nasser and Joseph again. But the Middle Eastern country is known for arresting anyone who is not aligned with the Islamic regime on “security” charges. Iran is ranked ninth on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian. In Matthew 5:10, Jesus said, “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.” British Christian teacher vindicated for objecting to transgender agenda Yesterday, an appeals court in the United Kingdom ruled in favor of a Christian teacher who lost her job over her Facebook posts. A Church of England primary school in Gloucestershire fired Kristie Higgs in 2019. This came after she posted a petition on Facebook that opposed mandatory sex education in schools. She also posted an article that challenged transgender ideology. Higgs has spent the last six years fighting the school's decision to fire her. HIGGS: “Nobody should lose their job for raising concerns. The biggest thing for me was that it was a Church of England School. They should be going by what God says, but now they're changing it, and that's just alarming. Just to see a boy in girl's clothing. Another one, My Princess Boy. To some people, it may appear to be okay, but when you know the Lord, you know His ways, and you know a boy cannot be a princess. A boy shouldn't dress up in Princess' clothing. “I knew what these books were. I knew that it was wrong. I could see through it, and I praise God for that. I encourage others to stand up against the ideology and the agendas that are being pushed. You know, we don't have to, don't have to agree to everything. We don't have to go with the flow. The Lord is with us and will help us through it all.” After her victory yesterday, Higgs said, “I pray that today will prove to be a landmark day for Christian freedoms and free speech. … The Court of Appeal has now set a clear standard to protect people like me, and the countless other Christians in this nation, to express their beliefs without fear of losing their jobs.” Trump chatted with Russian President Vladimir Putin U.S. President Donald Trump spoke over the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday. It's the first known conversation between the two leaders since the start of Trump's second term. Trump described the conversation as “lengthy and highly productive.” He announced the two countries would begin immediate negotiations for ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. Trump said he also had a good conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy yesterday. The conversations come as the United States and Russia complete a prisoner exchange this week. Tulsi Gabbard confirmed as National Intelligence Director Former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, who became a Republican and endorsed Donald Trump for President last October, has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to the position of director of national intelligence, reports The Epoch Times. Gabbard was confirmed in a 52–48 vote on Wednesday. Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky was the only Republican to vote against Gabbard. SENATOR: “Yays are 52. Nays are 48. Nomination is confirmed.” Yesterday's confirmation follows a contentious few weeks of debate over Gabbard's qualifications and judgment, in which lawmakers from both sides of the aisle asked probing questions about her views on Russia, ousted Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, and Edward Snowden, the former National Security Agency contractor who leaked classified information. Listen to this exchange between Republican Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas and Gabbard on the topic of Russia as she appeared before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. MORAN: “I want to make certain that in no way does Russia get a pass in either your mind or your heart or in any policy recommendation you would make or not make.” GABBARD: “Senator, I'm offended by the question because my sole focus, commitment, and responsibility is about our own nation, our own security, and the interests of the American people. In carrying out the responsibilities of the Director of National Intelligence, if confirmed, no country, group or individual will get a pass in my fulfilling that responsibility of providing that full intelligence picture so that you all can make the best informed policy decisions for the safety, security, and freedom of the American people. “You have my commitment to be completely objective, unbiased, and apolitical. And I hope you understand my commitment to our country's interest.” MORAN: “I absolutely do. You have answered my question in the manner in which I wanted to hear, that you will do this in an objective manner, provide the information necessary, and that Russia, if it's a threat, you will tell us so and tell us the details of that threat.” GABBARD: “Yes. Senator.” After President Trump introduced her at the Oval Office, Gabbard was sworn in by Attorney General Pam Bondi. GABBARD: “I, Tulsi Gabbard, do solemnly swear, that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same. I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I'm about to enter. So help me, God.” CDC website purged references to LGBTQ lifestyle and affirmed adoption The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is changing its website under the Trump administration. The CDC is editing or removing references on its website to “transgender” individuals, “LGBTQ+ health,” and diversity, equity and inclusion. Its website also suggests adoption when people search for abortion. Trump: No more drag shows at Kennedy Center And finally, President Trump announced last Friday that he is removing liberal agendas from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The national cultural center of the United States is located in Washington, D.C. Congress authorized the center in 1958, requiring it to be sustained through private funds. Trump said he fired multiple people on the center's board of trustees, becoming the chairman himself. He wrote on Truth Social, “Just last year, the Kennedy Center featured Drag Shows specifically targeting our youth — THIS WILL STOP.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, February 13th, in the year of our Lord 2025. It's Monday, January 27th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Nigerian Muslims killed 5 Christians and displaced 1,500 others Boko Haram, the Muslim terrorist group, is escalating attacks on Nigerian Christian communities in Chibok, Borno State, displacing more than 4,000 Christians in recent days, reports International Christian Concern. In a series of coordinated raids, Boko Haram targeted the villages of Christians, burned homes, torching churches, and killing five people. During the most recent attack on January 20th, terrorists displaced more than 1,500 residents. They targeted Christians in these raids, intimidating them and demanding they convert to Islam or face death. The violence destroyed the church called Ekklesiyar Yan'uwa, and resulted in the loss of livestock, food supplies, and livelihoods. According to Open Doors, Nigeria is the seventh most dangerous country worldwide for Christians to live. Trump defunded Planned Parenthood International While on Air Force One on Friday, President Donald Trump signed the Mexico City policy which prohibits American tax dollars from being used to promote or provide abortions overseas, reports LifeNews.com. The move defunded two major abortion chains of hundreds of millions of American tax dollars. The International Planned Parenthood Federation alone estimated a $100 million loss from its budget. Vice President Vance speaks out for unborn life and pro-life activists On Friday, Vice President J.D. Vance spoke in person at the 52nd annual March for Life in Washington D.C. and then marched with tens of thousands of pro-life Americans. VANCE: “We march to protect the unborn and live out the sacred truth that every single child is a miracle and a gift from God. It is a blessing to know the truth, and the truth is that unborn life is worthy of protection.” And Vice President Vance explained how things would be different under the leadership of President Donald Trump. He addressed the Biden administration's obsession with imprisoning pro-life Americans who participated in non-violent civil disobedience much like many did during the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s. VANCE: “With his return to office, no longer will the federal government direct FBI raids on the homes of people like, Mark Houck, and other Catholic and Christian activists who are fighting for the unborn every single day. And no longer will our government throw pro-life protesters and activists, elderly grandparents, or anybody else in prison. It stopped on Monday, and we're not going to let it come back to this country.” Lila Rose: Defund Planned Parenthood of America and abolish abortion Lila Rose, the founder of Live Action, addressed the March for Life crowd this past Friday in our nation's capitol. ROSE: “We must also speak the truth to our elected officials. We can start by demanding that they defund Planned Parenthood. (cheers) It's time!” (cheers) Isaiah 59:7 says, “Their feet rush into sin; they are swift to shed innocent blood. They pursue evil schemes; acts of violence mark their ways.” Rose continued. ROSE: “And most importantly, we must urge our elected officials to abolish abortion. (cheers) Abolishing abortion is the most important human rights cause of our time. One million of our unborn brothers and sisters are killed every year by abortion.” Pro-life rescuer Joan Bell to Trump: Protect babies from conception On January 24th, newly pardoned pro-life activist Joan Andrews Bell, age 75, joined the tens of thousands of pro-lifers in Washington, D.C., for the 52nd annual March for Life. Bell was freed from prison following President Trump's official pardon of the 23 pro-life rescuers in jail. John-Henry Westen, the founder of LifeSiteNews.com, interviewed her at the March for Life. WESTEN: “Joan, you just got out of prison now. President Trump gave you and the other 22 a pardon. What is your message for President Trump right now?” BELL: “Number one, thank you with all my heart. We trust that God is going to keep guiding you, keep bringing you closer and closer to the total truth that you need to defend every human life from the very moment of conception to natural death. And Monica Miller has a great book In The Beginning: [Critical Lessons for Our World from the First Three Chapters of Genesis]. Anyone who reads that will have to say, of course. In Scripture [Jeremiah 1:5] ‘Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.'” Pete Hegseth confirmed as Sec of Defense thanks to J.D. Vance This past Friday, the U.S. Senate confirmed Pete Hegseth as the new Secretary of Defense in a late-night session that came down to a tie-breaking vote from Vice President J.D. Vance after GOP Senators Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Mitch McConnell of Kentucky voted no, reports The Epoch Times. VANCE: “On this vote, the Yeas are 50 and the Nays are 50. The Senate being equally divided, the Vice President votes in the affirmative and the nomination is confirmed.” President Trump's nominee was initially deadlocked in a 50-50 vote. That capped a contentious confirmation process in which Hegseth faced questions about his views on women serving in combat, as well as allegations of alcoholism, sexual assault, and financial mismanagement at two veteran nonprofit groups. The vice president is the president of the Senate and has the sole power to cast a tie-breaking vote when necessary. Kristi Noem confirmed as Secretary of Homeland Security On Saturday, the Senate approved the nomination of South Dakota Republican Governor Kristi Noem to lead the Department of Homeland Security, reports The Hill.com. The 59-34 vote to confirm Noem puts her at the center of an administration focused heavily on immigration. Seven Democrats voted with Republicans to confirm her. Senators John Fetterman (PA), Tim Kaine (VA), Andy Kim (NJ), Gary Peters (MI), Jeanne Shaheen (NH), Maggie Hassan (NH) and Elissa Slotkin (MI). Solar-charging backpacks help African kids read at night And finally, a local entrepreneur in Tanzania is clearing two hurdles in one leap by transforming old cement bags into backpacks that include a small solar panel to power a reading light, reports Good News Network. Clearing municipal waste and helping rural children study after dark for just $4-8 per bag is impressive. Soma Bags employs 85 rural workers to satisfy a demand for 13,000 backpacks a month. They can't meet it, but they do their best. This backpack craze is all due to Mr. Innocent James who remembers studying for school by the light of a kerosene lantern. James' solution was inspired by a university professor he met. The man carried around a solar panel to charge his phone sewn into the fabric of his jacket, giving James the idea to sew cheap, flexible solar panels onto the outside of bags to power a reading light. A massive change has happened in the Matt Chapman market. After Cody Bellinger signed an 80 million dollar deal for 3 years, that directly affected the price tag of another Scott Boras client Matt Chapman. Three of my favorite episodes - and our most popular - are the ones where we had a chance to ask engaged couples exactly what they're looking for in vetting their wedding vendors (episodes 48, 94, and 211). Well today, we're talking to a brand strategist who also knows what couples want - because she just went through an engagement herself. She's Emily Foster, and she's sharing the yays and nays of how you may be portraying your business and attracting your ideal clients.Emily Foster Creative | instagram | Emily's Elevated Website Checklist---Today's episode is brought to you by The Planner's Vault. The Ballad Of The Yays & Nays (Parables #21)The last podcast in the parables series is a doozy. Not only is it a long podcast, it's a weighty one. The parable of our focus is the last of the Matthew 25 trio—The Parable of the Sheep and Goats. It's also known as “The Final Judgment.” In this episode, the guys point out some sneaky, but blatant, ways in which God's grace appears in the text. They also talk about the primacy of faith and how dead serious God is about you saying "yay" to him and how he will (sadly) honor the "nays"—those who refuse to enjoy the party. They also have a frank discussion about hell.. ____________________________________________________________________________Connect with Lark!...Web: https://larksite.comLarkcast: https://larksite.com/larkcastBook: Reclaim (Available on Amazon) https://larksite.com/reclaimInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/lark_social/

Texas has brazenly - or boldly, depending on your point of view - thrown down a gauntlet on abortion with their new law purporting to ban abortions once a fetal heartbeat can be detected. The Supreme Court refused to hear a challenge to the law prior to its effective date, so the nation holds its breath wondering where abortion rights, long treasured by many, will head. Meanwhile, the law deputizes the citizenry and takes enforcement out of the hands of state officials. What's going on? Is this vigilantism? Is this a rogue, unconstitutional adventure? Is Roe v. Wade dead already? Professor Amar is your guide to what is really happening.
In this episode, Dylan Schmittler (@DylansSports1) from The Big D Podcast joins. He brings the topic of Favs and Nays: players who are favorites in drafts, and players we are saying no to drafting. Alongside Dylan, the co-hosts talk about their Favs and Nays at different positions for fantasy football. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
