If Today Was Your Last, HOW HARD WOULD YOU GO? - A Talk on GRATITUDE and Basketball

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 27, 2018 51:26

HOW HARD WOULD YOU GO If You Knew Your Next Practice/Game Would Be Your Last? I was asked to speak to around 100 athletes/parents about being thankful, the game of basketball, and tying the two together. I think a MAJOR part of being thankful/grateful is starting with that every day. Be grateful for the day itself, the roof over your head, food on your table, the people in your life, and for the chance to play the game you love! Listen in as I touch on that, more details on my story and how THANKFUL I am for things that have not gone as planned, and much more! If today was your last...Practice, Workout, Skills Session, Game, etc. How hard would you go? I bet it’d be a HIGHER LEVEL than what you gave yesterday! Same goes for everything in our lives. If today was your last day: How much effort, energy, and enthusiasm would you bring to the day? How would you treat others? What would you tell those you care about? How would you SHOW them you care? May be a very deep way to think about it, but this is the time of year where we all need to DIG A LITTLE DEEPER‼️ Find a little extra effort to give. Bring a little more energy/enthusiasm to the day. Be BETTER THAN YESTERDAY! Stay Hungry and Committed To Your #craftwork

Think about it and really buy into it today, and everyday: Rather than I can’t or I won’t, ALWAYS Have a Consciousness That Says I WILL If you’re not doing it now (whatever “it” is for you), Don’t get discouraged. BELIEVE that you just haven’t done it YET You may not be there yet, quite frankly none of us are‼️ The day you “arrived” or think you’ve “made it” is the day you start letting others catch up, and surpass where you are. The GREATEST LEADERS put others before themselves. A HERO is someone who SELFLESSLY puts the good/safety of others before their own. Aaron Feis, a football coach who shielded students from the shooter, sacrificed his own life for the safety of those kids when he was shot and killed. THAT is a HERO. How far would you be willing to go for the good of others? For your family? If you knew today would be your last day on Earth, how much effort would you put into everything you did? What would you tell those you care about? Would your actions show people how much you cared? When tragedy strikes, it brings on emotions and provokes thoughts we may not visit on a regular basis. The tragic shootings in Florida are no different. Tune in as Coach Taylor Wayer discusses these very topics in this week's Five Minute Friday installment. Coach Taylor Wayer delivers the podcast from Cincinnati, OH today to discuss the excitement/added motivation behind the beginning of a season and how you you must fight to not just maintain that, but continue to raise your level of motivation, discipline, and intensity throughout your season. The most successful people, in sports and in life, are those that can stay disciplined with their mindset and work ethic, and can GET IT DONE every day, regardless of how they feel. They are consistently at a HIGH LEVEL. It is NOT ENOUGH, to raise your level and be committed at the beginning of the season. You have to weather any and all adversity, continue to stay disciplined, and be a better/improved player and team by the end of the season.
