Send us Fan MailFeeling stuck can be confusing when your life looks good on paper. We talk about that exact tension: having the job you wanted, having friends, doing all the “right” things and still feeling empty. Instead of ignoring it, we treat it as a signal. That uneasy feeling often points to a bigger truth: fulfillment comes from alignment, not comfort, and alignment usually requires a decision that scares you.We walk through the two catalysts that changed our trajectory. First, we set a clear goal with a real deadline: start a business by the end of the year, then put in reps even before everything made sense. Second, we put ourselves in a high-action environment by attending Grant Cardone's conference in Miami, where the message became obvious fast: if you want to build a business and provide value, you have to share your message and actually help people. That shift turns “maybe someday” into “I'm starting now.”From there, we trace how a practical skill set in accounting, personal finance, and financial literacy can become the foundation for coaching that goes far beyond money. We talk about building a North Star vision, strengthening mindset, supporting mental health and physical health, improving relationships, and staying grounded in service, community, and purpose. We also keep it real about the messy beginning: no sales system, no polished funnel, getting paid through Venmo, then evolving step by step. If you're researching how to start a coaching business, how to start a side hustle, or how to stop overthinking and take action, this is your reminder to build brick by brick. If this hits home, subscribe for more Five Minute Friday insights, share this with a friend who needs a push, and leave a review so more people can find the show. What if I told you the biggest threat to your orthodontic practice isn't competition—it's assuming tomorrow will look like yesterday? In this episode of Five Minute Friday, I tackle a conversation many orthodontists have been avoiding. For the first time in modern orthodontic history, we're seeing four consecutive years of flat or declining growth across the profession. This isn't about fear or pessimism—it's about recognizing the data, asking the right questions, and making smarter decisions before the market forces you to.I share why I believe this is a pivotal moment for our profession, what industry trends may be driving these changes, and why simply waiting for the next "bounce-back year" may not be the strategy it once was. More importantly, I discuss how surrounding yourself with the right peers, evaluating your practice through today's economic lens, and becoming more intentional with your business decisions can position you to thrive—regardless of what happens next.Whether you're considering opening another location, hiring an associate, or simply wondering why your growth has slowed, this episode will challenge you to think differently about the future of orthodontics and how to prepare for it.

Send us Fan MailMost businesses don't have a lead problem. They have a follow-up problem. We're sharing a short, punchy Five Minute Friday lesson on service that can unlock growth fast, especially if you're in sales, insurance, financial services, or any relationship-driven business where trust is the product. We walk through a real client story: six years in the industry, about 600 customers, and a common habit that quietly stalls revenue, waiting for people to reach out first. When you shift from reactive customer service to proactive client follow-up, everything changes. People's lives and financial pictures move quickly, sometimes in a year, sometimes in a few years, and your outreach is how you stay relevant, helpful, and top of mind. Then we get practical. A simple week of check-ins produced two new deals and eight appointments, just from reconnecting and asking better questions. We also talk about how touch points naturally lead to referrals and introductions when you're genuinely focused on helping. The bigger takeaway is mindset: drive the car. Choose direction, set the pace, and decide what “proactive” looks like this week. If this hits home, subscribe, share it with a friend in sales, and leave a quick review so more people can find the show. What if I told you the biggest threat to your orthodontic practice isn't aligners, competition, or GPs doing ortho—it's your inability to let go of the wrong work?In this Five Minute Friday, I'm talking about one of the most common mistakes I see orthodontists make when adopting new technology: trying to “make it their own” before they let it actually do what it was designed to do. Whether it's remote monitoring, financial follow-up, aligners, or any other system, too many doctors create stress by micromanaging tools that are supposed to make their lives easier.I break down why outsourcing isn't a weakness—it's one of the keys to operational efficiency. If you want your team focused on the work that truly moves the practice forward, you have to stop burdening them with tasks that can be done better, faster, and more consistently by people trained specifically to do them. The future of orthodontics belongs to doctors who do great ortho, lead well, and build systems that let their team focus on what matters most.

That's not a motivation problem, it's an application problem. On this Five Minute Friday, we get blunt about the gap between learning and results. We talk about the way “productive” habits can quietly turn into a hiding place, where consuming personal development content feels like progress without requiring any real change. Then we anchor the shift with a simple truth popularized by Tony Robbins: knowledge isn't power, applied knowledge is power. When you start treating ideas like tools instead of trophies, your growth stops being theoretical and starts showing up in your calendar, your conversations, and your confidence. We also call out a common workplace trap: stacking meetings, trainings, and coaching without engaging with the material. If we don't apply what we learn, we don't change. To make it practical, we share two questions to ask the moment you finish listening: What do I need to learn here? How can I apply this learning to my life today? What if I told you the way you treat people when nobody's watching says more about your leadership than anything happening inside your practice? In this Five Minute Friday, I'm asking a question that might sting a little: Are you a pain in the ass? As orthodontists, leaders, employers, and colleagues, we spend a lot of time thinking about clinical outcomes, systems, and production—but not always enough time thinking about how people feel after interacting with us.This episode is about self-awareness, humility, and becoming the kind of person others actually enjoy being around. I share why the small moments matter most: how you speak to a server, how you respond when things don't go your way, how you show up online, and whether your interactions leave people better or worse than before. My challenge is simple: at the end of every day, ask yourself what you did well—and how you could have done it better.

What if I told you your marketing budget isn't the problem — your tracking is?In this Five Minute Friday, I'm breaking down the three things every orthodontic practice needs to make marketing actually work: a plan, a reliable way to track where patients came from, and a clear understanding of ROI. Too many practices are throwing money at PTAs, community events, online ads, referral gifts, and sponsorships without knowing what's truly producing starts.I'll show you the exact question I ask every new patient, why your TC needs to hear the answer, and how a simple spreadsheet can help you stop guessing and start investing smarter. When you know where your growth is coming from, you can double down on what works, fix what doesn't, and grow your practice with far more confidence.Quotes“You need to have a marketing plan. Send us Fan Mail“Is it too late for me?” is one of the most common questions I hear, and it usually shows up quietly when we're alone with our thoughts. If you've been weighing a career change, a fitness goal, a move, or a big personal reset, this quick Five Minute Friday is built to cut through the mental noise and give you a clean next step forward. I share proof that late starts are real starts, using stories like David Goggins and Ray Kroc to challenge the idea that you missed your window. We also talk about the belief that growth stops as you get older, and why that belief is often the real barrier, not your age. Then we land on a practical mindset shift you can use today: stop measuring your life against other people and measure it against yesterday's you. That one change makes progress measurable, reduces shame, and turns personal growth into something you can actually repeat. You'll hear concrete reminders that you can change your career, your body, your location, and your beliefs, no matter what decade you're in. If this hits home, subscribe, share it with someone who needs the push, and leave a review. When people can quickly tell what you do and how you help, trust comes faster and the right opportunities find you. We also talk about how the small things you share add up, your habits, your consistency, and the way you show up publicly. You can share a lot or share very little, but you should decide on purpose, because people will form an opinion either way. Then we tackle a question that stops a lot of creators and business owners: “If I made a video series and nobody watched, would it matter?” Our answer is a firm yes, because the reps are the real work. They note Kimberly-Clark distributes paper goods and that the facility held about 3% of its U.S. capacity serving roughly 50 million people. The fire reportedly began around 12:30 AM during a graveyard shift with about 20 employees present; everyone escaped without casualties, and the suspected arsonist—described as a disgruntled employee of a third-party logistics operator—allegedly live-streamed igniting pallets before leaving and later being arrested.
