    It's the scariest thing I've done in a long time. Even more so than posting a before and after on social media, trying to potty train a 3 year old or watching a patient have a heart attack right in front of me. It was opening up to a complete stranger about why I felt like I needed to talk to someone, why I had resisted it for so long, and letting them help me. I've never been so scared and relieved all at the same time. I'm only 3 sessions in, but I can't recommend it enough. It's ok to ask for help.     35. The "Enjoy every moment!" conundrum

    Do you ever get a super cringy feeling when a stranger at the grocery store or Aunt Sally lets out the ol' "Oh you're gonna miss this!" Or "Every every moment! It goes by so fast!" Ugh, it takes physical effort for me not to roll my eyes and puke in my mouth a little. As well meaning as I'm sure they are, these phrases tend to bring up gross feelings of self-judgement and guilt for me. Here are a few ways I'm moving through this to be able to yes, enjoy my children, and also give myself some compassion as I learn and grow into this motherhood thing.     33. How you can eat whatever you want & still reach your fitness goals

    Fitness is about more than workouts and calories in, calories out. Of course you can see progress with sheer motivation and discipline. But if you want lifelong, sustainable results that feel effortless and don't leave you pissed off at the fact that you don't allow yourself certain foods or that you didn't close all the rings on your watch today...you have to work on the mindset and why behind all the effort.  In this episode, I share the mindset shifts I made, specifically around food, that helped me heal my toxic relationship with food, feel more ease around eating, and see the physical results I wanted.  Takeaways: 1. It's not really about the food. It's about figuring out what you actually want. 2. Take the pressure off. Think about what and why you are truly making certain foods off limits. Is it due to an actual allergy or intolerance? Take some time to think about why you're eating something before you label it. Give yourself permission to eat whatever you want! When you make certain things off limits, you tend to want them even more.  3. Your worth does not depend on what you eat. You are not good or bad based on the kind of food you consume. Food lives on a spectrum and you are in control of what kinds of food you eat and how much of them you consume. 4. BONUS!     Ever find yourself being asked where you want to go eat and saying "It doesn't matter." Except it does. You really DO have an opinion, you're just worried about what people might think or that someone won't like your suggestion so you play Switzerland. Enough! As a recovering people pleaser, I'm sharing some of the obvious and not so obvious ways that I fell into this category and more importantly, how I'm choosing myself more and more everyday over other. Selfish? For sure. Because at the end of my life, I want to be confident in knowing that I valued my own opinion over the opinion of Susie down the street or Aunt Linda or Jessica from senior year.     It seems as though the moment we find out we're expecting, we're bombarded with opinions and advice coming from our mothers to do this and our friends to do that and let's not forget whats thrown at us from social media - woof.  How many times have you endlessly researched what the right day to sleep train or start feeding or handling tantrums is? How many different viewpoints have you found? How often do you feel pulled in a million different directions? What about guilt and fear over choosing the "wrong" way or f*cking your kids up for life? Let's chat about all this shit and how dangerous it can be for our mental health and how to move forward in motherhood without letting the pressures of the outside world break us down.  Takeaways: 1. Lower your expectations. There is no professional or book or Instagram Influencer who knows how your child is going to react or respond to ANYTHING. Give up the idea that we can control the outcomes when trying something new with our kids. 2. Give yourself permission to learn and grow with them. Remind yourself that it is VERY unlikely that one single decision is going to fuck them up forever. "Mistakes" can be great opportunities to learn together how to sit with uncomfortable situations and feelings, which in itself, is a valuable life lesson. 3. Get Clear on what you really want and align your actions with it. Shut off the world for a minute, get quiet, and see what feels right for YOU.
