Have you ever felt the need to post anonymously in a Facebook Group, in fear of judgement & retribution from more experienced therapists trying to promote evidence informed practice within the massage industry? Is this confrontation causing therapists to doubt themselves & leave the industry, or should we learn to be more resilient and see comments from other therapists as a way to develop our own practice & become better clinicians? In this 13th episode of our ‘REFLECTION' series, we bring you Part 1 of a 2 part panel debate on “Facebook Groups For Massage Therapists: Helpful or Hateful?” – an important topic that has been causing much discussion as of late, with many less experienced therapists in Facebook Groups feeling the need to post anonymously, in fear of a cascade of judgement & retribution from more experienced therapists trying to promote evidence informed practice within the massage & manual therapy industry. In Part 1, we hear from a panel of therapists who feel that the judgement & criticism seen in some Facebook Groups is sometimes not constructive, and can in fact do harm to less experienced practitioners in our industry. The conversation unfolds around two contrasting realities: the positive exchange of ideas and the harmful criticisms often met in these forums. The panelists bravely share stories of feeling belittled or unsupported, yet they also hint at the potential for these platforms to foster meaningful connections when managed with empathy and respect. As the episode progresses, listeners are prompted to reflect on their own communication practices in digital spaces, encouraging a shift towards a more supportive and understanding online community. Join us for an insightful discussion that sheds light on the real challenges faced by massage therapists in the digital age. Part 2 - Coming Soon! In Part 2, recording & release date to be confirmed soon, we will be hearing from a panel of therapists who will present the case that there is a real need for a clean up in our industry, and though it may ruffle some feathers, Facebook Groups can be a breeding ground of misinfomation that ultimately is doing harm to not just our industry but also the cients & patients paying for our services. * Apologies for the occasional sound distortion in this recording. In this episode, I answer a question from a Massage therapist who is trying to figure out how to optimize their marketing to help attract quality clients using social media and trying to keep the costs relatively low. This question came from Emily, a Massage Therapist in Georgia who has been in practice for 7 years and operates her own solo business. She asked:“ I have been pretty consistent over the past year with being about 90 percent booked up in my business, but have kind of grown stagnant and bored with doing more of the traditional massage work and want to stay working more in treating injuries and chronic pain like you do, but I have no idea how to go about marketing this idea to new clients who are looking for this specific treatment and not having them think I'm just doing regular massage work. I do have social media accounts or Facebook and Instagram, but rarely post on there as most of my practice is word of mouth from other clients. I know my current clients wouldn't go for the change of doing a shorter, but more effective injury treatment like you talk about, so I need to find a way to find ideal clients outside of my current client base, but I have no clue where to even start? I don't have much budget to spend on all this, should I hire a marketing agency, start running ads, doing events or anything else? Any insights and guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks for all the information you have shared over the years, its been extremely valuable to me!”---------------We just launched our new, free soft tissue injury evaluation and treatment training, The Peak Injury Treatment Method. It is the first step in learning how to cut your treatment times in half and easily double your income so you can avoid burnout and help more people get out of pain!If you want to download the training for free, with no strings attached, just click the link below ⬇️Click Here To Download Free TrainingPlease consider joining our 'Soft Tissue Treatment Revolution' community on Facebook, where it's much easier to engage as a group.
