As a baby brand photographer, I would sometimes get frustrated after delivering photos to clients and having them not use their photos. It wasn't because they didn't like the photos. They sent positive reviews and sent referrals even. But they wouldn't post their photos. The consensus was often that they were overwhelmed, didn't know where to start, or were busy with the next step in their business by the time they got their images back. I even implemented additional steps like offering post-session strategy calls, Loom videos, and an after session guide, but it still wasn't working. It wasn't until I switched around my approach that I was able to not only better plan for my client's brand sessions but also help them have a plan for when they got their images back. From his book Launch in 5. Will Russell's book, "Launch in 5: Take Your Idea from Lightbulb Moment to Profitable Business in Record Time" is a complete and total blueprint that will help you understand first if you idea should even go to market.  Then once you have done all your research, he walks you through customer acquisition.  Then How to engage your audience.  Followed by how to convert your audience into customers.  Then finally how to scale and optimize your business after launch. The truth is however none of this is going to work if you are not real clear on validating your idea.  And this is where spend most of our focus on the show.  As Will told me after the show, "validation of your idea is like a GPS, without it your either guessing how your idea will work, or just getting lucky".  The fact is you need to make sure you have done your homework before you launch.  It doesn't take that much time, but it is time well spent.  Get Launch in 5 it is truly a game changer.   Please, please, please, thank our sponsors for their financial support of A New Direction! The waterfall method isn't always ideal for software projects because it doesn't allow for innovation and creative problem-solving. So Postlight's Head of Product Design, Natalie Kurz, takes a different approach: Figure out the “what” first instead of the “how.” With that method comes room for creative problem-solving and, you guessed it, rework. But rework isn't a failure; it's a way to learn and get clarity. After all, rework is the work.

Heather is a 43-year-old mom of 2 and has been married to her husband, Branden, for 10 years.  She is a Kindergarten teacher from Southwestern Ontario, Canada. At the end of October 2021, a friend sent her a video of Graeme in a podcast interview.  She listened to it and had a “lightbulb” moment and immediately ordered Graeme Curries book, “The Fasting Highway”.  After reading Graeme's story in less than a day, she immediately started clean fasting on Monday, November 1st, 2021.  It was the perfect day to start!  She started OMAD with clean fasting, and the clean fast made all of the difference in the world. Something just clicked for her, and she has clean-fasted every single day for over a year now. In the past, Heather had a lot of success with a Ketogenic diet, but the stressors of teaching online during a pandemic took their toll.  She regained some of the weight she had lost with Keto and was feeling a sense of desperation about her weight.  IF gave her the freedom to eat a wider variety of healthy foods and eliminated the guilt that came along with eating out or enjoying “treats'' once in a while.  She has shifted towards more of a low carb/paleo eating style and includes things in her window that she had previously thought were off limits for the rest of her life because they weren't considered “Keto.”  She limits sugar, bread, pasta, etc., and focuses on real, whole foods.  She is still working towards her ultimate weight goal, and realizes that this is her lifestyle now, so it will take as long as it takes, and that's ok!  She can't imagine NOT clean fasting every day for the rest of her L*IF*E! The Fasting Highway News. My book about my own story The Fasting Highway is available on Amazon in both paperback and kindle. The Fasting Highway: Graeme Currie takes you on a journey through the highs and lows of beating a crippling food addiction by losing 60kg (132 pounds) living an Intermittent Fasting Lifestyle. For Australian and New Zealand residents, you can buy the book direct from me at www.thefastinghighway.com. For the rest of the world Amazon is your best option. How do you know what business to start or how to scale it? This episode marks Holly's very last lightbulb moment of the series, and so she wanted to share with you the answers to the questions she so often gets asked. Taken from her conversation with Keith Abel, founder of Abel & Cole, Holly reflects on the moment that Keith recognised he had a golden opportunity when selling his organic potatoes, which was the pivotal moment that changed his life forever. When Keith shared this with Holly, it marked a revelation for her too. She shares how we all experience our very own lightbulb moments each and every day, but the art is not only to recognise them, but also to seize them with both hands. If you want to take control of your future, this is the guidance you need — and it takes less than 15 minutes to hear it.  You can hear Keith Abel's full episode here.  Enjoying listening to these unfiltered chats? This might just be the most humbling lightbulb moment Holly has had this whole series. In just 15 minutes, you can learn the life-changing skill of freeing yourself from your past and controlling your present — allowing you to achieve anything you put your mind to. Letting the past distract her is a battle that Holly has faced herself over the years, especially when recalling certain times at notonthehighstreet. But it wasn't until she met with the formidable Dr. Edith Eger, that she suddenly realised it's possible to readjust our mindsets and undo this harmful pattern.  Edith is wisdom personified. She shares so many pieces of incredible advice when it comes to only focusing on the positives in our lives and what empowers us, and this really struck a chord with Holly — especially coming from someone who has lived through something as traumatic and horrific as the Holocaust.  Holly explains how she learned that it's not arriving at the destination that is the prize, but actually the journey itself. This is a lightbulb moment that will stay with you forever. And if you ever find yourself focusing on the past – just remember to be more Edith!  You can hear Dr. Edith Eger's full episode here.  Enjoying listening to these unfiltered chats? Imagine how happy you could be if you were able to find the beauty in everything. Want to learn the art in less than 15 minutes? Taken from her conversation with Anya Hindmarch CBE, one of Holly's ultimate female business icons, Holly recalls Anya explaining the story of designing her much loved crisp packet handbags, and how you really can make everyday ‘ordinary' items extraordinary.  Hearing Anya tell this tale ignited a lightbulb moment for Holly, as it took her back to when she realised that her calling was to seek out the neverending beauty within small businesses – which is how her first business, notonthehighstreet, was born.  Holly explains how ever since, she has been on a quest to scale the unique, and in doing so has become a proud leader of the small business community. She also sheds light on how we as humans are totally one-of-a-kind and beautiful in our own way, and so surely this should be reflected in our businesses? What are the ways you could take run-of-the-mill items and transform them into something wonderful? When did anyone say that products like handbags can't be fun? If you'd like some inspiration, we think you're going to love this... You can hear Anya Hindmarch CBE's full episode here.  Enjoying listening to these unfiltered chats?
