Had the pleasure of meeting Soul Summoner Series author Elicia Hyder @ Space Coast Book Lovers Con in June 2021. Join us as we chat about her books, the writing process and the importance of knowing when to say ENOUGH.About Elicia:In the dawning age of scrunchies and “Hammer Pants,” a small-town musician with big-city talent discovered she was expecting her third child, a staggering eleven years after her second. From that moment on, Susie Waldrop referred to her daughter Elicia as “the blessing,” which is Southern-speak for “the accident,” albeit a pleasant one.In true youngest-sibling fashion, Elicia lived up to the birth-order standard by being fun-loving, outgoing, self-centered, and rebellious throughout her formative years. She excelled academically—a feat her sister attributes to her being the only child who was breastfed—but abandoned her studies to live in a tent in the national forest with her dogs: a Rottweiler named Bodhisattva and a pit bull named Sativa. The ensuing months were very hazy.In the late 90's, during a stint in rehab, Elicia was approached by a prophet who said, “Someday you will write a book.”She was right. Now a firm believer in the prophetic word, Elicia Hyder is a full-time bestselling writer of urban fantasy, romance, and women's fiction. Her novels have been optioned for TV and film, and are available in print, eBook, and audio all over the world. She lives (in a real house) in middle Tennessee with her husband, five children, and two (sensibly named) dogs.Follow her through her website @ www.eliciahyder.comAll of her social media links are there and links to Hydernation and exclusive content.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/LegionofWritersPod )

That's right ...11 jobs in 11 years.Awesome! (insert sarcasm)At first, I looked at this “accomplishment” as a monumental failure. I felt like a bona fide loser, and started asking self-defeating questions. The main one: “What the hell is wrong with you?!?!?!?”Then, the smoke cleared and my confidence started to return. I kept my heart open for my next opportunity and/or adventure. Well, it found me.After a lot of discussion and prayer, I have decided to finally embrace the gift that God gave me and inspire others to look at life a little differently. I started a grassroots blog, Defining Audacity, which was designed to push others to live a bold, adventurous and intentional life. I simply wrote about my life – which included learning to be a dad, giving back and trying to attack life with reckless abandon. That blog has turned into a sydincated radio show and YouTube channel. I'm also a chronic list maker. I currently have a life list that consists of 55 things that I want to accomplish over the next 555 days. I'm using this list as a road map for my #liveonpurpose initiative, which is designed around setting goals and going after them. This powerful platform also revolves around helping others. It's about living with a grateful heart and putting others before ourselves. I love sharing stories of helping other people cross things off their bucket lists, and inspiring them to “pay it forward” and help someone else.Check him out here and be sure to follow his podcast Defining Audacityhttps://www.drewmyers.lifeSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/LegionofWritersPod )

Had the distinct pleasure of talking with Kandi Steiner about romance, Indie Publishing, social media and more. If you are a writer and plan to go Indie, listen up.Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing "emotional rollercoaster" stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance -- in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you're a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she's your gal.An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women's Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her "freedom of press." She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs. When Kandi isn't writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. I had the pleasure of interviewing Kathleen Lopez via Zoom app thanks to quarantine. From Kathleen: Creative writing and telling stories have always been passions of mine. I often say that my first book, Between the Shades of Light and Dark, initially started as a homework assignment in college that got wildly out of control. My characters are not based on anyone in particular but can exhibit particular personality quirks I've come to experience. I try to make my characters real enough for the reader to care about them; they become so real, in fact, that I become more of a biographer than fiction writer, capturing the stories of their lives. The genres of murder-mystery, crime, thriller, suspense, paranormal, and others that lie in the ‘realm of creepy’ provide such interesting canvases to explore as a writer; opening up vast amounts of possibilities. I strive to make each story a journey to be experienced.
