In this episode, I sit down with Kathleen Kobel, an Amazon expert and passive income strategist, for a practical and eye-opening conversation on building revenue streams beyond your art or services. From flipping textbooks to becoming a successful Amazon influencer, Kathleen walks us through how creators—yes, even without a huge following—can start earning commissions through Amazon's Influencer Program and create content that keeps working for them in the background. If you've been looking for ways to diversify your income, monetize the products you already use, or add something scalable to your creative business, this episode is full of insights you can take action on today. We talk about: How Kathleen got started by reselling textbooks—and why simplicity is key when beginning What the Amazon Influencer Program is and how it actually works Why you don't need a big following to earn commissions on Amazon How to create UGC (user-generated content) that Amazon loves The types of product videos that perform well (and how to start with what you already own) How much time it really takes to see results—and why it's still worth it Product selection strategies that can make or break your earnings Why Amazon does most of the heavy lifting when it comes to marketing How this can be a truly passive income stream with upfront effort Creative ways to repurpose content and save time This is a must-listen for anyone looking to add passive income streams to their creative business without burning out or starting from scratch. Tools and takeaways: You can earn commissions even with a small or no audience UGC sells—real content from real people builds trust Repurpose what you're already using and loving Time investment up front can lead to long-term income Diversifying income creates more freedom and stability Amazon's built-in audience means less pressure on you to “sell” Passive income = more space to be creative elsewhere Start messy—it doesn't have to be perfect to work Connect with Kathleen Kobel Website: https://kathleenkobel.com YouTube: Kathleen Kobel Book: The Unconventional Business Model

    1. Change Your Limiting Beliefs There are more than enough people who want to buy original art. There is room for YOU and for all of us to sell our work online. Nobody can replace YOU. You are the magic ingredient to your brand! Someone else's success does not equal your failure. 2. Recognize Your Fear Confidence is not the absence of fear. Being confident and brave is doing something in spite of being afraid. ·       Develop confidence and put your work out there. The fear gets quieter as you gain confidence. 3. Take Action Confidence comes through action. It does not happen overnight. ·       Taking baby steps is an important action to build confidence. Reward yourself for your effort, not just for your results. Build up confidence by simply taking action and building trust in yourself that you will follow through on what you say you will do. 4. Serve Before You Sell ·      Serve, serve, serve before you ever ask for someone's money 5. Have The Courage To Fail ·      Your success is going to be measured by how many failures you have had. If you are not willing to fail, you will not succeed. ·      When something “fails” it doesn't mean it actually failed, it means you have an opportunity to change things up and learn from the data you've collected. ·      Have the discernment to listen to your data and let it be your educator.   SPONSORS This episode is sponsored by Shopify. #018: The Three Pillars of Building a Loyal Fanbase Consistency and time We all have a limited amount of time and it can feel overwhelming to have to show up all the time on the many social media platforms Focus on what you can commit to doing consistently Slow and steady growth. Build a strong foundation and avoid the burnout of a rapid overnight rise Authenticity Act as if you're showing up for one person- this makes it easier and less intimidating, even though you may be showing up for thousands Don't take yourself too seriously, people gravitate towards people they can trust, and being yourself is a great way to build this trust People don't only care about what you create. They also care about the person who created it Value Can be entertainment or education Figure out how your brand can provide value to your ideal customer Before you ask for a customer's money, you need to provide value for free to establish a trust factor. This ties back to the first pillar, consistency. Consistently providing this value will boost customer trust. If it was supposed to be easy, everyone would be doing it. If you feel like you don't have the time, energy, or bandwidth, I want to challenge you to do at least one thing every week consistently. You don't have to show up how everyone else is. You need to think about what you can consistently do over a long period of time so that you can build trust and confidence with your community. When they check back, they know that you'll still be you. SPONSORS This episode is sponsored by Shopify. I've been using Shopify for the past 10 years to run my online business!
