We look at the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G Phone from Xiaomi. See more here. Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G Phone from Xiaomi reviewed The packaging is sleek, though, like other recent phones launched, you will need to have power sources ready for it. Hopefully it plays nicely with your own in-house phone chargers. It seems like Xiaomi are having another go at cracking the European markets. This in itself makes it seem like a stop start effort, maybe they don't need Europe, whereas with other brands over the last few years the new iterations, evolutions and updates have been much more regular, and, whisper it perhaps, consistent. Our testers were initially, who, oh yes, of course, but it's been a while, so they had begun to wonder if this was still a going concern. Clearly it is, but even to have that impression suggests that there is work to be done by Xiaomi to build greater brand awareness, interest and, for them, ideally, loyalty to the product. Once they got these grumbles off their chests our testers like the phone mostly. It has a nice design, is fairly intuitive to use, and does all the usual things pretty well. That said at times they wondered if it was neither fish nor fowl. Not a blow them out of the water, top of the range device, and not a bargain basement option either. The middle ground is perhaps larger, but it can also be a little bewildering too, devices looking for a niche and an ideal home. This phone is not making a play to be your go-to gaming device for example, though it is not terrible either. Our testers wanted to really enthuse about the phone, but like someone who has been on a first date, and then finds that an undue amount of time has passed without hearing anymore, they begin to wonder how far they should get invested in any of this. The phone has a lot of potential, but will it last, how long will it remain working like this, because they have been let down before. Is it worth committing this time around. Overall they decided to give it a cautious thumbs up, hoping that their experiences, and faith will be rewarded by decent phone longevity and an ongoing series of updates and fresh iterations. Time will tell if this is a prudent choice. More about the phone Xiaomi Corporation ("Xiaomi" or the "Group"; stock code:1810), a consumer electronics and smart manufacturing company with smartphones and smart hardware connected by an Internet of Things ("IoT") platform at its core, today announced the launch of Redmi Note 14 Series in the Irish market. Welcome to your weekly news update, we have 3 stories for you this week, Drone pilot loses control of drone over stadium, an update on the man who shot down the police M300, and DJI releases new L2 LIDAR The first story this week is a drone that flew over a college football game, resulting in players evacuating the field. This occurred in Columbus, Ohio when Rigoberto Canaca Escoto flew a drone he purchased the day before at best buy over the stadium. Upon returning to Escoto, Columbus counter terrorism police were able to track the drone back to the pilot. Escoto admits he had no knowledge of basic UAS safety, hadn't take TRUST, and that he lost both control of the aircraft for about 3 minutes while over the stadium and line of sight. Escoto has been charged in Franklin County, OH with: Unsafe operation of aircraft in a careless or reckless manner, Two counts of aircraft operation without a license, Inducing panic by committing an offense with reckless disregard, And disorderly conduct in a physically offensive condition. Yikes. Next up is an update on a story we talked about nearly two years ago. If you're unfamiliar with this story, a man in Florida named Wendell Goney shot down a Lake County Sheriff's M300 drone in 2021. According to the man, the drone was “Harassing him”, however Lake County Sheriff was investigating reports of a burglary at a nearby 10 acre wear house. The man is a 29 time convicted felon, who now faces 10 years in prison for possession of a firearm and ammunition. So don't be either of these guys, don't shoot drones down and don't fly over stadiums in TFRs. Final story this week is the Zenmuse L2 LIDAR from DJI! The new L2 is compatible with both the Matrice 300 and the Matrice 350. When compared to the L1, the L2 increases detection range by 30% with a reduced spot size of 4x12 cm at 100m. The L2 has a maximum point cloud rate of 240,000 points per second and a 20MP 4/3 CMOS with a mechanical shutter. The L2 isn't as expensive as other LIDAR units, coming in at “only” $13,560 according to DJI's website for the basic combo. Pretty cool device, and maybe we'll get our hands on one eventually! Have a great weekend, and we'll see you next week! https://dronexl.co/2023/10/11/felon-shoots-down-sheriff-drone/ https://www.nbc4i.com/news/local-news/ohio-state-university/pilot-arrested-after-losing-control-of-drone-over-ohio-stadium-during-buckeyes-game-records-say/ https://dronexl.co/2023/10/10/dji-zenmuse-l2/
This week in drone news: A story of a Pilot Institute Student who saved two people in 9 days using drones, DJI released the Mavic 3 Multispectral & the new O3+ Air Unit this week, and a FOIA Showed 101 accidents reported to the FAA. Your first story this week is a Pilot Institute Student who saved a life. Texas Game Warden Michael Hummert responded to two search and rescue calls in central Texas in less than ten days. As the only thermal drone in the county, Hummert led deputies to the first missing individual who was in a restricted DOD airspace. Just nine days later officials reached out requesting assistance in another missing persons case. Hummert working in conjunction with federal officials was again successful in ensuring the person's safety. Huge shout out to Warden Hummert and all first responders! Thanks for what you do! Your second story this week is the new DJI air unit and the Mavic 3 Multispectral! O3+ has arrived in an air unit platform, and the video is amazing with 1080p 100fps in the goggles and 4K60 with rock steady recording in camera. We've got a review you can check out here where we tested the air unit in a number of torture tests! Also check out Drone XL's article on the new air unit! Also released this week is the Mavic 3 Multispectral, signaling the true end to the Phantom line up. The M3M uses a 4/3 CMOS sensor with 4 additional sensors in the Green, Red, Red Edge, and Near IR bands to collect data for agriculture. Each additional sensor is 5MP while the main sensor is 20MP with a mechanical shutter. As with the rest of the Mavic 3 enterprise line up, the M3M has an available SDK, RTK, and uses the DJI Pilot 2 App. For those who were waiting for a Phantom 5, it looks like this is it! This is the 6th Mavic 3 from DJI, and the 4th one this year. Your third story this week is a FOIA request that showed 101 drone accident reports made to the FAA. Interesting notes are that 25 of the 101 pertain to near misses or collisions with manned aircraft, 8 were caused by fly aways, 7 by wind, 4 by low battery, and 3 were shot down. Many of the accidents were due to equipment malfunctions, however there are a few that are due to people being “That guy”. One discussed a person flying a mavic air 2 by an unlicensed operator who decided to go inside during the flight, resulting in the drone low-battery landing into a girl riding her bike resulting in lacerations to her face that required hospitalization. Remember that these were FAA reports, not NTSB reports. The NTSB reporting requirements are actually a lot lower than the FAA ones (which is only $500 in damage). The last story this week is that our Black Friday sale is going strong today. All the courses in our catalog are currently at the lowest they will be this year, and I mean that. Our Part 107 course is $107 right now, our photo/video fundamentals course is $75, the real estate course is $49, the mapping bundle is $199. See the full list on our website. That's it! We hope you had a great turkey day, time to go back to your food coma, we will see you next week.

#GoPro10 #Sigma #Apple Another day , Another Pod! Episode 533 Go pro 10 Coming? A report by Roland Quandt and WinFuture reveals that Hero 10 will be getting a better sensor, a new processor, and improved video stabilization. GoPro is equipping the Hero 10 action cam with a larger 23MP camera, up from the Hero 9's 20MP, to allow for high-resolution photos. The sensor will be able to record videos in 5.3K at 60fps and 4K at 120fps, which is again a significant improvement to the frame rates offered by the Hero 9. Meanwhile, 4K videos can be recorded with up to 120fps. And to create very high-resolution slow-motion videos, Hero 10 will support a 2.7K resolution at 240fps. Report from CanonRumours saying, SIGMA will announce the following lenses 24mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary 90mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary Both of these lenses are for full-frame mirrorless applications, which likely means they're for Sony's E-Mount and SIGMA, Leica, and Panasonic's L-Mount. Yet again nothing for RF mount this continues to be the biggest issue with the new cameras no choice. If you don't want to have to carry adaptors around and cant afford the crazy L series lens prices you are going to have to go adaptor and second hand EF lenses for at least another year or 2 it seems ?? @nokishita reports 90mm will have 11 elements and 10 groups and 9 aperture blades, with .5m min focus distance. 55mm did filter thread. and capable with magnetic caps ? no price info as yet. The Verge reports Apple's $100 million settlement agreement changes a key App Store rule for developers. The settlement agreement also has Apple “clarifying” its policies to explain that iOS developers can contact their customers, with permission, using information collected inside their apps to tell them about payment options outside the App Store. On the fun news side of Apple, Ming-Chi Kuo is now claiming the iPhone 13 could have the ability to make satellite calls built right in! Kuo claims that the iPhone 13 will be able to connect directly to low earth orbit satellites like starling thanks to a new Quallcom processor ! That would be amazing for us Aussies as we could all tell #telstra to go jump ! Still a rumour but the most exciting one for apple in a while and something actually that would make a huge difference. Pastor Rich and Tony sit down in this unedited quick release of the 20MP to discuss the events of this past week after a powerful storm destroyed homes, trees, and knocked out power to nearly the entire Cedar Rapids area.
How much time does the average person spend fixing their imperfections so that they look or sound exactly how they want to? This week on the 20MP, you’ll hear what happens when a simple sound check turns into an real, unedited conversation about…real, unedited conversations. On average, about 2-4 hours of editing goes into each episode. This week’s took about 15 minutes.
This episode is the very first test recording for the 20MP that we didn't plan to publish! Here's your chance to meet Tony and Rich for the first time as they talk about baseball, faith, and how it all fits together. Take a seat for the next twenty minutes and join the discussion.
Marco has invited back his friend and long-time mirrorless camera reviewer and expert Mathieu Gasquet. Mat and his significant other - Heather - are also the founders of www.MirrorLessons.com / and www.MirrorlessComparison.com. This show is sponsored by: COSYSPEED - The fastest camera bags in the world. http://bit.ly/STREETOMATIC and Skylum Luminar - The cutting edge photo editor http://bit.ly/PPN-Luminar3 Marco’s Street Photography exhibition: “Poetry of coincidence” will be shown at ErsteReihe.Hamburg Gallery from November 21st to December 7th. Google Map link: https://goo.gl/maps/PGaP9uhmHibQTURE6 Nikon Z50 Nikon is entering the mirrorless APS-C sensor market with this camera. This camera uses the Z-mount and offers a 21MP CMOS sensor with a 209-point Hybrid AF System. But unlike the Z6 & Z7 it does not have in-body image stabilization. But it’s also smaller and lighter than the Full Frame Z-Siblings while still offering Nikon-like grip and ergonomics. The 90° tilt-up and 180° tilt-down LCD is unique but may interfere with tripods if you want to use the LCD as a selfie screen. Nikon Z50 B&H: https://bhpho.to/2reW1Xv Amazon Germany: https://amzn.to/35iefpW Olympus E-M5 III The new E-M5 III shares a lot of features of the E-M1 MK II. It has a 20MP m4/3 sensor with a 121-point phase and CDAF and a 50MP high-res mode as well as 30 fps burst and 10fps with continuous AF shooting modes. On the video side it shoots 4K up to 24p and Full HD up to 60p is supported. The EVF now moved from an LCD to an OLED system which should improve the viewing experience. And Olympus continues to make their cameras more weatherproof - a feature that I have started to appreciate - when it works - in recent months. The E-M5 MK III is now IPX-1 rated. Bluetooth has also been added for better connectivity with your mobile devices. Olympus E-M5 III B&H: https://bhpho.to/2Xzrfol Amazon Germany: https://amzn.to/2XxmnjB Sony a9 II After 2.5 years in production, Sony’s flagship sports camera gets a refined update. While the sensor and amount of AF pixel stayed the same, the new processor improves overall responsiveness and AF tracking reliability. The mechanical shutter can now shoot 10 fps. A second UHS-II SD card slot also improves the ability to offload the images fast to SD-cards. But the upgrade from 100 Mbit to a built-in Gigabit Ethernet port plus implementation of 5GHz ac Wi-Fi also helps to offload the images quickly to the photo agencies. Sony a9 II B&H: https://bhpho.to/34cqILW Leica SL2 Leica announced an update to their Full Frame SL camera line. The camera has a 47MP FF CMOS sensor with CDAF and now finally a 5-axis IBIS is built-in. A 187MP high res mode enables the user to create huge high-quality prints. And a 5.76M-dot OLED EVF is also a useful improvement. The camera allows for 10 fps burst shooting with mechanical shutter and locked AF which drops to 6fps in continuous AF mode. And pretty much all of these are the specs of the Panasonic Lumix S1R, too. But the Leica does have a different body design and it has a beautiful top plate LCD as well as 2 SD-card slots instead of the 1 SD and 1 XQD slot on the S1 and S1R. What’s lacking on the Leica is a tilting LCD screen. At launch, the SL2 is priced at $6000 US and is about twice the price of the Lumix S1R. Leica SL II B&H: https://bhpho.to/2KDRAg3 Panasonic Lumix S1R B&H: https://bhpho.to/2IoT9zJ Mirrorless question of the month: Hello Marco, I have my Olympus EM-10 for 3 years now. Time to upgrade? Not so sure, I'm wondering if I rather keep it until I will start to see mechanical or electronic issues? The new EM-10 and 5 mark III are more capable (better image stabilization, more pixels, better Continuous autofocus...) but I still enjoy my ''old'' camera and knows its limitations. I think I would rather invest the money in lenses, travels or workshops, no? What do you think? Marco has invited back his friend, journalist, and reviewer of cameras and photographic equipment Angela Nicholson to talk about the latest news from the world of mirrorless cameras. This show is sponsored by: Skylum Luminar - The cutting edge photo editor http://bit.ly/PPN-Luminar3 and COSYSPEED - The fastest camera bags in the world. http://bit.ly/STREETOMATIC Canon has released the EOS M200. The new M200 replaced the M100 entry-level APS-C camera. It still has a 24MP APS-C sensor and a 180° touch LCD. But the new Digic 8 processor is supposed to improve the AF with Dual Pixel AF and eye detection. Canon EOS M200 B&H: https://bhpho.to/2IWGxxG Amazon Germany: https://amzn.to/2BmvCc8 Canon PowerShot G5X MK II The G5 X MK II is a high-end compact camera with a 20MP 1” sensor. It has a fixed 24-120mm f1.8-2.8 zoom lens. But one of its special features is a pop-up EVF and flash. The touch-LCD tilts up 180° and 90° down and on the video side, the camera shoots 4K/30p and up to 120p in full HD video. Canon PowerShot G5X MK II B&H: https://bhpho.to/33Dx6ek Amazon Germany: https://amzn.to/2MmgfH2 Fuji announced the development of the X-Pro 3. This new iteration of the X-Pro line from Fuji will have a better Hybrid Electronic- and optical viewfinder and it finally gets a tilt-LCD. But as much as Marco has been wanting this feature on the X-Pro line, he has quite some concerns if the way that Fuji implemented it will be very convenient in real-life situations. Fuji also announced the development of an XF 50mm f1.0 lens. But this lens will come instead of the long-time announced XF 33mm f1.0 lens. Why did they change their mind and was this a good decision? Marco’s Fuji X-T2 has issues with the weather sealing and the Fuji Cam Remote app continues to have serious issues. Fuji has also announced an update to the entry-level X-A5 that is now called X-A7. The camera has a new 24MP APS-C bayer pattern sensor with 8.5 times more phase-detection AF-Pixel than the previous X-A5. The camera has only 4 buttons: A shared drive/trash bin, a replay, a shared Menu/OK, and a display button. Plus an AF-Joystick that helps to operate the camera next to the 3.5” touch LCD. The camera will be available in 4 colors and will hit the stores on October 24th. Fuji X-A7 B&H: https://bhpho.to/2nYdB0U Sony introduced the a7R IV. This is a 61MP full-frame camera that also offers a high-res mode with 240MP. The OLED EVF as 5.7 Mio. dot and the 4K video mode does not add a crop to the width of the sensor. The extended zoom range made the lens quite a bit slower at f2.8-4.5 whereas the predecessor had an EVF 24-70mm lens at a much faster f1.8-2.8 aperture lens. Mirrorless question of the month: Hi, first of all, a big thank you for the great photography podcasts that you release each month. You guys have become one of my favorite photography outlets :) I’m actually a better painter than a photographer but my question involves both art forms. I paint on large canvas and would like to create high-resolution files of my paintings for archiving and digital post-processing. The paintings are much too large to scan. I own an old Nikon D7000 with 16MP and have been wanting to upgrade to a recent mirrorless camera. I’m looking at Panasonic and Olympus cameras as the 4:3 aspect ratio fits that of my paintings and both cameras have a high-resolution mode that can produce 80MP images from the 20MP sensor. Do you think that the high-resolution mode will enable me to get good quality large files of my paintings or is this just a marketing gimmick? And which lens would you recommend me to get? Currently, I have the opportunity to test the Olympus om-d e-m1 mark ii for four weeks and I have to say this is a very nice camera. I like it very much. Now I would be very much interested to compare the Olympus with the Fuji X-T2 and I thought this would be a nice topic for your show as you know both cameras very well. I'm not so much interested in specs comparison but rather in daily practice and image quality etc. I would be very grateful if you could cover this topic in one of your next show.
