What is actually going on with trip coverage, ARCOS, premium flying, and all those “weird slips” pilots keep seeing in the operation? In this episode of Engage, host First Officer Ryan Argenta sits down with Scheduling Committee Chair Ian Turner and Vice Chair Josh Cantrell to break down the current state of Delta's trip coverage process during the summer operations push. The conversation covers open time, M7 usage, ARCOS delays, auto-accept, auto-acknowledge, out-of-base white slips, quick slips, inverse assignments, and the growing complexity of covering trips across the system. Ian and Josh explain why pilots using contractual scheduling tools are not the root cause of the current challenges, how technology and process delays are affecting coverage, and why premium flying data may not tell the full story when viewed through green slips alone. If you've wondered why trips seem to disappear after an ARCOS award, why coverage feels slower than it used to, whether pilots are “clogging the system,” or whether you should change how you use your contractual scheduling options, this episode is for you.

Dublin city centre is brought to a standstill as farmers, truckers and others hit the roads over soaring fuel prices — and the Taoiseach warns there “will be penalties” for turning O'Connell Street into a car park. Adrian and Jeremy ask: do you fully support these protests… or have they gone too far? Natasha tells a shocking story of being stuck on the M7 for nearly two hours on the way to a serious medical appointment, with no Garda presence and the hard shoulder blocked. Callers are fiercely divided: “short-term pain for long-term gain”… versus “you're only hurting ordinary people.”

The episode elucidates the current status of wildland fire activity, emphasizing that the Southern Area is operating at Preparedness Level 3, with numerous large fires threatening structures and residences across multiple states. We provide a comprehensive overview of significant incidents, including those in Alabama, Colorado, and Florida, where extreme fire behavior has been reported, leading to considerable risks to nearby communities. The discussion also includes pertinent advisories from CISA regarding cybersecurity vulnerabilities that necessitate immediate action to mitigate risks. Furthermore, we touch upon recent seismic events, such as the magnitude 7.6 earthquake near Tonga, which, while not resulting in a tsunami threat, underscores the importance of situational awareness in the Pacific Ring of Fire. We conclude with an examination of public health concerns, specifically a meningococcal disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, highlighting the need for vigilance in travel advisories.Takeaways:* The Southern Area Preparedness Level has reached a critical status of Level 3 due to numerous large wildfires threatening structures and residences.* A recent advisory from CISA emphasizes the urgent need to mitigate critical risks associated with unauthenticated command execution on commercial control systems.* The Pacific Ring of Fire remains a significant focus of attention following a magnitude 7.6 earthquake in Tonga, despite no tsunami threat being reported.* The CDC has issued a travel notice regarding an outbreak of meningococcal disease in a health zone of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, underscoring the importance of public health awareness.* Numerous states are currently experiencing substantial fire activity, with reports indicating active fire behavior and threats to both structures and residences.* The FAA has provided updates on potential thunderstorms affecting air traffic in central Florida, highlighting the need for vigilance in aviation safety.SourcesDHS* DHS News Release — Senate confirms Markwayne Mullin as DHS Secretary (Mar 24, 2026)* DHS Newsroom — “There are no current advisories” (NTAS status shown on DHS newsroom pages)CISA* CISA ICS Advisory — Pharos Controls Mosaic Show Controller vulnerability (Published Mar 24, 2026)* CISA ICS Advisory — Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Foxboro DCS vulnerability (Published Mar 24, 2026)* CISA ICS Advisory — Grassroots DICOM memory leak vulnerability (Published Mar 24, 2026)Wildland fire activity (NIFC/NICC)* NIFC/NICC Incident Management Situation Report (IMSR) — PDF (Published Mar 24, 2026)Aviation* FAA — Statement on Air Canada Express incident at LaGuardia (Mar 23, 2026)* NTSB — Investigation page: Air Canada Express Flight 8646 collides with fire truck at LGA (Event date Mar 22, 2026; includes media briefings)* FAA — Daily Air Traffic Report (Mar 24, 2026)Earthquake and tsunami messaging* USGS — Event page: M7.6, 153 km W of Neiafu, Tonga (Reviewed)* Reuters — No tsunami threat after deep M7.6 near Tonga (Mar 24, 2026)Public health* CDC — Travel Health Notices: Meningococcal Disease in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Mar 24, 2026) This is a public episode. Right, picture this. It's 2:30am. I've been bounced off half of Sydney's motorways on the way back from Albury-Wodonga, the NSW/VIC border, and I'm talking myself through a full-blown panic attack because, well, everyone else is asleep. ZzzzToday started as a quick meet and greet and hit top gear — strapping freight, riding in an Kenworth and remembering why I love the transport industry so much. I'm trying to build something that brings trucking and mental health together… and for most of the day, I felt real purpose and inspired. Then, I hit Sydney. First, the M7 shuts. No biggie, I keep on truckin'.Then, NorthConnex shuts. Just my luck. Roadworks everywhere. Detours through the back roads of the big smoke. Sleep? Not likely tonight. Now I'm picturing myself fronting up to an 8:30am meeting at the University, then a filmed interview I've been looking forward to all week, and an advisory group meeting (yep, big day) running on fumes — and the inner critic is LOUD. The anxiety is like THUNDER. Here comes the wave of dread. I just need to get back to Newcastle. Perfection or nothing.Don't stumble. You can't afford it. The stakes are too high So I go back to basics: name what I can see, breathe longer out than in, loosen the grip, label the task instead of the monster. The goal isn't to get rid of fear at 3am — it's to keep pointing northwards while it's yelling at you.By the time I get home, the panic's still there… but it's smaller. And it's not driving anymore. Thank God, neither am I. Now to sleep, I've got a big day coming up! -- Follow The Dysregulated Podcast: Instagram – @elliot.t.waters Facebook – The Dysregulated Podcast YouTube – The Dysregulated Podcast (Official Channel) Created by Elliot Waters — Inspired by lived experience. In this week's MBA Admissions podcast we began by discussing the current state of the MBA admissions season. We are seeing several top MBA programs releasing interview invites for Round 2, including Yale SOM, Berkeley / Haas, Northwestern / Kellogg, UNC / Kenan Flagler, Rice / Jones, UVA / Darden, CMU / Tepper, Cornell / Johnson, UCLA / Anderson, Indiana / Kelley and Georgetown / McDonough. This led to a discussion about our newest product launch, Clear Admit's MBA Interview simulator. This simulator is designed to provide a realistic interview experience for twenty top MBA programs, and provide detailed feedback. It is trained on Clear Admit's extensive catalogue of interview resources including its interview archive and interview guides. Graham highlighted MBA webinar events that are on the horizon that Clear Admit is hosting. The first webinar looks at the enduring value of the MBA, scheduled for Wednesday. The second series of events is for deferred admissions candidates who are currently completing their first degrees. Signups are here: https://www.clearadmit.com/events Graham noted two MBA admissions tips. The first focuses on MBA interview invite timelines for Round 2. The second admissions tip examines Wharton's Team-based Interview approach. Graham then noted a Real Humans piece spotlighting students from Minnesota Carlson. For this week, for the candidate profile review portion of the show, Alex selected two ApplyWire entries and one DecisionWire entry: This week's first MBA admissions candidate has a deferred admissions spot at Darden. They are planning to apply to a few M7 programs next season. This week's second MBA applicant was admitted to Fuqua, among other programs, in Round 1. They are also looking at several M7 programs in Round 2. This week's final MBA candidate has several offers from leading MBA programs. They want to focus on media and entertainment, post MBA. They are deciding between Darden with a scholarship and Columbia. This episode was recorded in Paris, France and Cornwall, England. It was produced and engineered by the fabulous Dennis Crowley in Philadelphia, USA. Thanks to all of you who've been joining us and please remember to rate and review this show wherever you listen!
In this week's MBA Admissions podcast we began by discussing the current state of the MBA admissions season. While many R2 deadlines were last week, there are still deadlines for NYU / Stern, MIT / Sloan, Texas / McCombs, USC / Marshall and Imperial Business School this week. Graham highlighted MBA webinar events that are on the horizon that Clear Admit is hosting. The first webinar looks at the enduring value of the MBA. The second series of events is for deferred admissions candidates who are currently completing their first degrees. Signups for all Clear Admit are here: https://www.clearadmit.com/events Graham noted an MBA admissions tip focused on fine-tuning the MBA admissions essays. Graham then noted two Real Humans pieces spotlighting students from Texas / McCombs and Manchester / Alliance. We then discussed the Class of 2025 employment report from Yale SOM. For this week, for the candidate profile review portion of the show, Alex selected two ApplyWire entries and one DecisionWire entry: This week's first MBA admissions candidate has one admit in Round 1 for an M7 program and is targeting four more M7 programs in Round 2. This week's second MBA applicant is a consultant from Sydney, Australia. We worry that their slightly lower GMAT score of 655 may harm them for the very top MBA programs. This week's final MBA candidate has several offers from leading MBA programs. They want to begin their post MBA journey in investment banking, and we think Cornell / Johnson may be their best current option. This episode was recorded in Paris, France and Cornwall, England. Morning Focus listener, Ashley O'Toole airs her frustration over delays on Dublin Coach's service from the University of Limerick to Ennis. Ashley lives in the County Town, is a regular user of the UL to Ennis service, for work purposes. Ashley has issues with the service, claiming it's frequently late. Alan Morrissey spoke to Ashley on Friday's Morning Focus to find out more. Statement from Dublin Coach: “On behalf of The Green Bus we understand that there have been issues regarding times, but we are operating 100% services and unfortunately, we are at the mercy of the heavy traffic in Limerick and of course the heavy traffic on the M7 as this also impacts services coming from Dublin at peak times. The peak times in limerick being 15.30-18.00 Monday to Friday are difficult in the city with school's colleges and workers finishing during these periods. However, we are not able to change this and as we have a live tracker on our website people can see in real time where the bus located. Overall, we will continue to rebuild the business and services and want to take the opportunity to thank everyone in Ennis for supporting us as it means a lot to us and will continue to work hard for our passengers" Photo (c) dublincoach.ie
Paris Chong welcomes back renowned photographer Jeff Dunas, who dives into the photographic books he produced during the COVID-19 pandemic, primarily from his archive. These projects include a small, limited-edition book with publisher Nazraeli called *Highway 61 to Honeyboy*, a Renaissance garden book, and a collection of his American pictures. He discusses the changing landscape of photo book publishing, particularly the unique crowd-sourced model used by Michelle from Minor Matters, who also designed his earlier book, *State of the Blues*. Dunas also reflects on his early career, including his widely known nude photography for Playboy while in his late teens. Dunas shares his deep connection to Leica cameras, which he has used since the early eighties, noting he still owns an M3 and M7. He highlights his attachment to the M9 Monochrome, calling it "perfect" for black and white work—like shooting an M6 with Tri-X film. He contrasts the slow, deliberate process of shooting with film (the psychological importance of a 36-picture limit) and the mastery of the darkroom with the current, faster pace of digital photography. He likens his new hobby of making sourdough bread to the focused, scientific process of working in a darkroom. The conversation also covers the Palm Springs Photo Festival, which Dunas co-founded and ran for 17 years. He proudly defines its portfolio reviews not as critique sessions, but as a crucial "job fair," connecting emerging photographers with industry people who could hire, publish, or exhibit their work. While the festival itself is currently on hold due to the high costs of maintaining its high-quality faculty, the reviews continue online. Finally, Jeff discusses his successful "Palm Springs Photo Festival podcast," which he started in 2020 to maintain a sense of community during the pandemic. You can find Jeff Dunas's work on his website, dunes.com.Show Notes:www.theparischongshow.com/episodes/jeff-dunas-passion-projects-publishing-art-books-palm-springs-photo-festival-leicaChapters:(00:00:00) Intro(00:00:51) Jeff Dunas(00:01:19) A Few New Books(00:05:07) Paris's First Art Book(00:08:28) Famous For Nudes(00:11:25) Super Rare Books(00:15:26) Palm Springs Photo Festival(00:18:48) Marker 12(00:22:45) Leica Store(00:25:24) Other Hobbies(00:32:25) Didn't Know You Had A Daughter(00:36:26) Landscape - Palisades Fire Talk(00:39:04) What's Next?(00:46:33) Outro

Takeaways: AI can assist in polishing applications but cannot replace authenticity. Admissions teams look for fit, resilience, and a clear vision beyond just grades. Introspection is crucial for applicants to understand their unique stories. AI should be used as a tool, not a crutch for critical thinking. An application must convey the applicant's soul and personal journey. Every applicant has a place in a business school that fits their goals. Childhood experiences can inform and enrich an MBA application. The 'why' behind pursuing an MBA is essential for a compelling narrative. Balancing authenticity with polish is key to effective storytelling in applications. SiG-Tacular episode the M7 and P320
After most of the population of the Pacific rim sought higher ground this week, we speak with the architect of the tsunami warning technology. Also how aging Killifish might help us probe our senior moments. This week, an M8.8 earthquake near Kamchatka in the western pacific led to tsunami evacuation alerts thousands of miles away. Seismologist Judith Hubbard was writing about the area in the days leading up to it, following a M7.4 event 9 days before, which we now know to categorize as a foreshock. As she says, it's these subduction zones between tectonic plates that give out the most energy, produce the biggest quakes, leading to the worst tsunamis. The Tsunami alarms were based on modelling developed by Vasily Titov of NOAA's Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory in Seattle. Having studied these phenomena for many decades, he describes the fine balance between the potential accuracy of a prediction, and the practical actionable advice authorities need to give out to save as many lives as possible. Finally, how can a short-lived African freshwater fish help scientists studying senescence? Stanford's Judith Frydman and colleagues publish this week a study in Science that finds Killifish's brain cells' ability to encode proteins degrades with age, in keeping with similar patterns of older human brains. Because Killifish have such brief life cycles, yet seem to follow the brain cycles of most vertebrates, they provide an ideal model species from which to find out more, as she explains. In this week's MBA Admissions podcast we began by discussing some of the recent activity on LiveWire; we followed this by highlighting a new article published by Clear Admit that summarizes the current situation for international students seeking visas to study in the United States. Graham noted Clear Admit's summer series of webinars, which focuses on top MBA programs' admissions essays, which will be attended by more than 20 of the top MBA programs. The second event is on Wednesday of this week, and includes Georgetown / McDonough, Michigan / Ross, UNC / Kenan Flagler, Vanderbilt / Owen and Yale SOM. Signups are here: https://bit.ly/mbaessay0725 Graham then noted four admissions tips; the first focuses on the importance and value of volunteering; the next three, part of Clear Admit's “Myth Busters” series, discuss whether only the very top MBA programs (M7) will help you succeed, whether being honest means you need to share all your weaknesses, and the desire for applicants to seek out what admissions officers want to hear. We continue our series of Adcom Q&As, which is a yearly series where we interview the admissions leaders at all the top MBA programs; this week we have Q&As from Emory / Goizueta, Chicago / Booth and Duke / Fuqua. Finally, Graham highlighted a recently published podcast, the MBA Decoded. This is a recording from a panel discussion from our MBA Fair event in Boston. For this week, for the candidate profile review portion of the show, Alex selected three ApplyWire entries: This week's first MBA admissions candidate is from Georgia and works in Private Equity. They also have a 705 GMAT score. This week's second MBA candidate is an architect in London and wants to transition into real estate private equity. They still need to take the GMAT or GRE. The final MBA candidate was enlisted in the military and now works in banking. Their short-term goal, post MBA, is investment banking. They have a 332 GRE score. This episode was recorded in Paris, France and Cornwall, England. It was produced and engineered by the fabulous Dennis Crowley in Philadelphia, USA. In this week's MBA Admissions podcast we began by discussing Round 2 activity on LiveWire; interview invites continue to roll out for Round 2 candidates; Harvard was one of the top MBA programs to release their interview invites last week. This week, London Business School is scheduled to release their Round 2 interview invites. We then had a quick discussion regarding our new admissions bot, “Ask Clear Admit”. It is very interesting to be able to see what types of prompts MBA applicants are using for the bot, some of which are a little unexpected. We are now planning to write a prompt guide, to help users get the most out of their bot experience. You can find the chat bot here: https://ai.clearadmit.com Graham noted two upcoming webinar series. The first is for Deferred Admissions candidates, with signups here: https://bit.ly/de0225 The first webinar in this series, on this Wednesday, features Berkeley / Haas, UPenn / Wharton and Stanford. Next week we have CMU / Tepper, Chicago / Booth, Columbia, Yale SOM and UVA / Darden. The second webinar series is for Masters in Management candidates, with signups here: https://bit.ly/mim0225 Graham highlighted two MBA news stories. The first story covers the best business school podcasts, focusing on podcast from M7 programs. The second looks at an entrepreneurial program at Georgetown / McDonough called “Bark Tank”. Graham then mentioned three admissions tips, each focused on the MBA admissions interview process. Finally, we discussed two more MBA career reports from Cornell / Johnson and INSEAD. Both MBA programs show the same resilience as other top MBA programs, while facing the headwinds of a tighter employment market. That said, it's clear that top European-based MBA programs, like INSEAD, have a lower starting salary than their peer programs in the United States. For this week, for the candidate profile review portion of the show, Alex selected one ApplyWire entry and two DecisionWire entries. This week's first MBA admissions candidate is from India and has a strong GMAT score of 715. They also have solid work experience, but are worried that they have a lower GPA and few outside activities. We were also concerned that they were only able to target Round 2. This week's second MBA candidate is choosing between CMU / Tepper and Texas / McCombs. They have a decent sized scholarship from Tepper. They want to move into tech product management. The final MBA candidate is deciding between Columbia and Kellogg. They are targeting consumer-packaged goods and marketing, but they have a preference for New York City. This episode was recorded in Paris, France and Cornwall, England. It was produced and engineered by the fabulous Dennis Crowley in Philadelphia, USA. Thanks to all of you who've been joining us and please remember to rate and review this show wherever you listen!
In this week's MBA Admissions podcast we began by discussing the new season of MBA admissions; this upcoming week we have many Round 2 application deadlines, including Harvard, Dartmouth / Tuck, UCLA / Anderson, Emory / Goizueta, Georgetown / McDonough, CMU / Tepper, Rice / Jones, Chicago / Booth, Yale SOM, UVA / Darden, UNC / Kenan Flagler, Washington / Foster, Notre Dame / Mendoza, SMU / Cox, Stanford, Northwestern / Kellogg, Johns Hopkins / Carey, Vanderbilt / Owen, Berkeley / Haas, Duke / Fuqua, Cornell / Johnson, USC / Marshall, IESE, Georgia / Terry and Georgia Tech / Scheller. Graham highlighted two admissions tips for those finalizing their admissions essays; these essay tips focus on word limits and the optional essay. Graham then discussed a Real Humans post focused on holiday celebrations. Graham then presented the Class of 2024 career placement reports from Columbia, Northwestern / Kellogg and UPenn / Wharton. This finalizes our reviews of the M7 career reports, and we are seeing the outcomes of a tougher placement market for these top programs. For this week, for the candidate profile review portion of the show, Alex selected two ApplyWire entries and one DecisionWire entry: This week's first MBA admissions candidate is only applying to two programs, Duke / Fuqua and UVA / Darden. They did apply last season to some different programs, and we worry that they may be challenged by applying in Round 2 this season. This week's second MBA candidate was a NCAA Div 1 athlete with an outstanding GPA. They now work in their family business, focused on sports. While their GMAT is not outstanding, we wonder if they should target a few programs from a higher tier. The final MBA candidate is deciding between Washington / Foster, with $66k scholarship and Vanderbilt / Owen with $100k scholarship. They want to pursue a career in consulting or technology. This episode was recorded in Paris, France and Cornwall, England. It was produced and engineered by the fabulous Dennis Crowley in Philadelphia, USA. Thanks to all of you who've been joining us and please remember to rate and review this show wherever you listen!
