There's no evidence retail crime has fallen, despite claims the Government's Retail Crime Advisory Group delivered more change than ever before. The Justice Minister has confirmed the group will be disbanded early, months ahead of schedule, after several members resigned. Chair Sunny Kaushal says he doesn't think there is any other Ministerial advisory group that's delivered eight key reforms in two years. But Retail NZ CEO and former group member Carolyn Young told Ryan Bridge it's an election year, he's a politician and he wants votes. She says people must focus on what's headline news and what's actual news, to see what's been put in place and has actually made a difference. Send us a textIn this episode, we're talking about masculinity - what it means, what it's allowed to be, and why so many men feel increasingly unsure how to show up in the world and at work - without being labelled toxic, outdated, or problematic. Our guest is David Maywald, author of The Relentless War On Masculinity. David argues that while some harmful behaviours needed challenging, we've also lost sight of healthy masculinity and that many capable, well-intentioned men, especially in midlife, are paying the price. In this episode we explore whether masculinity is being evolved or quietly dismantled, why so many men feel sidelined and what reclaiming a grounded, healthy masculinity - that's aligned with the healthy feminine - could actually look like today. Imagine a blueprint for remaking America's government from the ground up, drawn by conservative architects at the Heritage Foundation. Launched in April 2023, Project 2025—formally the 2025 Presidential Transition Project—outlines a sweeping overhaul of the federal bureaucracy in its 900-page Mandate for Leadership, according to the Heritage Foundation's own documentation. At its core, the plan champions the unitary executive theory, placing the entire executive branch under direct presidential control. “All federal employees should answer to the president,” Heritage president Kevin Roberts declared, as cited in Wikipedia's overview of the project. It calls for firing tens of thousands of civil servants via Schedule F reclassification, replacing them with vetted loyalists from a database aiming for 20,000 recruits by late 2024.Concrete examples abound. The Department of Education would close entirely, shifting funds and IDEA programs to states and Health and Human Services to boost school choice and curb what it terms “woke propaganda,” per the Mandate. The Department of Homeland Security? Dismantled, reborn as a lean immigration agency merging ICE, CBP, and TSA. Justice and FBI would answer directly to the White House, ending independent probes and expanding the death penalty, while the FTC and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau face abolition to slash antitrust and consumer safeguards.Tax cuts for corporations, a flat income tax, Medicaid caps, and Medicare trims aim to reverse Biden-era policies. Environmentally, it targets the Inflation Reduction Act, closing clean energy offices to prioritize affordable fossil fuels.By January 2025, President Trump's February 11 Executive Order kicked off the Department of Government Efficiency, mandating agency reorganization plans by March 13—Phase 1 cuts, Phase 2 efficiencies—like merging economic bureaus under conservative mandates, as detailed in OPM guidance.Experts warn of risks. The ACLU describes it as a radical restructuring threatening rights, while AFGE fears up to a million job losses. Yet proponents see streamlined governance empowering families. As 2026 unfolds, Phase 2 plans due last year signal more cuts ahead, with Congress as the next battleground. Will this ambition reshape democracy or spark backlash? Thanks for tuning in, listeners—come back next week for more. Some great Deals https://amzn.to/49SJ3QsFor more check out http://www.quietplease.aiThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Welcome back, everyone, for the conclusion of my interview with Author and retired FBI Special Agent Seamus McElearney. Séamus McElearney began his distinguished career with the FBI in 1998, joining Squad C-10 of the New York Organized Crime Branch. Tasked with investigating the Bonanno and DeCavalcante crime families—infamously known as “the real Sopranos.” In December 1999, he was assigned to arrest Anthony Capo, a violent soldier in the DeCavalcante family, as part of a sweeping indictment. Not only did he safely execute the arrest, but he also achieved a historic breakthrough: persuading Capo to become the first made member in the family’s century-long history to cooperate with law enforcement. This unprecedented move triggered a domino effect of cooperation that ultimately led to the dismantling of the DeCavalcante family. In all, 71 defendants were convicted, and 11 murders were solved. Following this six-year investigation, Séamus was promoted to lead Squad C-38, overseeing the Colombo crime family. Under his leadership, the squad dismantled the Colombos through a series of operations—including spearheading the largest Mafia takedown in FBI history. As Supervisor, Séamus oversaw investigations that led to the conviction of more than 200 defendants and the resolution of 20 murders. Throughout his career as an Agent and Supervisor, Séamus helped convict ten Mafia bosses, recover five bodies, and solve the murder of an NYPD officer. He was part of historic FBI teams that dismantled three organized crime families—an achievement no one else can claim. Seamus is also the author of the popular book, Flipping Capo: How the FBI Dismantled the Real Sopranos. I’m a fan of the TV show The Sopranos, so it was amazing listening to Seamus explain how the “Real Sopranos” operated and how they were dismantled and brought to justice by Seamus and his team. Please enjoy my conversation with Seamus! In today’s episode, we discuss: · How he got Capo to flip. · Capo was a soldier in the mob. What is the rank system of the mob? · What is involved in a ‘made man’ ceremony? (Kissing rings, burning saints, etc...) · Why are we so fascinated with mobsters? · What is the FBI’s role in WITSEC? · How do you keep a rat safe if they are in jail or out on bail? · 9/11, how the FBI changed after that day. · How long did it take to put together the case against the DeCavalcante crime family? · How did the DeCavalcante crime family coexist with the five New York crime families? · Is it true that old-school mobsters didn’t mess with women or children? When did this change? · The Sopranos. What did Hollywood get right and wrong about mob life regarding The Sopranos? · The advice he would give to someone who wants to be an FBI agent. · Sylvester Stallone’s series, The Tulsa King. Donald Trump's political project is often misunderstood as a campaign, a presidency, or a movement. This video argues it is something far more dangerous: a sustained effort to hollow out democratic constraints until elections still happen—but no longer decide outcomes. From the Big Lie and January 6 to loyalty tests, voter suppression, gerrymandering, and narrative control, this analysis traces how elections can be deformed without ever being formally abolished. It examines how rules are rewritten, institutions weakened, and doubt normalized—so that defeat is treated as illegitimate and intervention becomes “justified.” This is not about one election. It's about whether American democracy remains real or becomes performative. Independent media has never been more important. What do you do when someone believes you shouldn't exist? Daryl Davis didn't protest. He didn't shout. He sat down, asked questions, and kept showing up. Over decades, that approach has led more than 200 Ku Klux Klan members and white supremacists to walk away from their robes for good. In this conversation, Davis explains why people radicalize, and what happens psychologically when prejudice collides with a real human being. He shares stories from inside Klan meetings, lessons learned from neo-Nazis, and why today's climate of polarization may actually be an opportunity rather than a dead end. Daryl Davis earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Howard University and an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from Post University. He is the author of Klan-Destine Relationships and the subject of the multi-award-winning documentary Accidental Courtesy, which chronicles his work in race reconciliation. A lifelong musician, he has performed with Chuck Berry and President Bill Clinton, and as an actor appeared in HBO's The Wire.

Under President Trump, the Department of Justice's long-standing mission to uphold the law “without fear or favor” has been turned on its head. Attorney General Pam Bondi has followed Trump's directives to target his political enemies and help his allies. But in their new book, Injustice: How Politics and Fear Vanquished America's Justice Department, investigative journalists Carol Leonnig and Aaron Davis show that the erosion of the DOJ's independence began long before Trump's second term. Kara speaks to Leonnig, MSNBC senior investigative reporter, bestselling author and five-time Pulitzer Prize winner, about how internal pressure campaigns in Trump 1.0 prevailed, despite the noble intentions of prosecutors; the many red flags that were missed by the FBI ahead of the January 6th Capitol attack; the stubborn bravery of unsung heroes in the National Archives Department during the Biden administration; and how the DOJ's loss of political independence will impact the country. Shooters will recognize it, as it is frequently allied with lead to make a harder, more durable alloy for cast bullets. We should note that lead-antimony alloys have many other uses, from lead-acid batteries to sailboat keels. Antimony is used in other alloys as well, such as antifriction alloys, electric cable sheathing, and type metals for printing presses, which apparently are not completely extinct yet. It's also used in flame retardants, and - this is key - in semiconductors. It's also has applications in pharmaceuticals. a key strategic mineral. Alaska has antimony. Now, in Alaska, a company called Nova Minerals, with a grant from the War Department, has a contract to build an antimony refinery at Port MacKenzie, west of Anchorage, to process ore from the Estelle gold mine in the West Susitna Mineral District. With Pentagon backing and a goal to begin delivering Alaska-sourced antimony into U.S. supply chains by 2027, Nova Minerals Ltd. has secured a 42.8-acre site at Port MacKenzie west of Anchorage for a refinery that would process antimony concentrates from its Estelle project and other sources."This is a defining moment for Nova Minerals and for U.S. critical mineral independence," Nova Minerals CEO Christopher Gerteisen said upon securing land use permits for the industrial site about four miles from a deepwater port in Southcentral Alaska. The refinery, to be developed by Nova subsidiary Alaska Range Resources (ARR), is part of a strategy to leverage the very high-grade antimony mineralization found on the company's Estelle project about 100 miles west of Port MacKenzie to establish a domestic supply of this metalloid critical to a wide range of military and commercial applications. Antimony is also found in Idaho and Montana. But a majority of antimony production comes from countries that are not particularly friendly to the United States: China, Russia, and Tajikistan, which, between them, account for almost 80 percent of global supply. Widely regarded among FBI agents as the greatest undercover agent of all time, Suarez holds the record for the longest continuous undercover run - an astonishing 23 years. Now, the details behind his unparalleled achievements are being revealed for the first time. In 2019, after being diagnosed with ALS, Suarez made the decision to finally tell his story - from secret operations and daring air drops at sea to a harrowing showdown with a cartel assassin in his own backyard. With his future uncertain, he partnered with author and esteemed journalist Ian Frisch to craft this gripping, cinematic memoir.Suarez is known for achieving the unimaginable. As the only undercover FBI agent to have infiltrated a Colombian drug cartel, he courageously lived a double life as 'Manny' within the cartel's treacherous corridors, smuggled $1 billion worth of cocaine into the U.S., and laundered over $50 million for the North Coast Cartel. His fearless and strategic operations also led to the exposure of the infamous Black Market Peso Exchange, a financial web that implicates individuals at the highest echelons of power, and thrusted billionaire bankers and high-ranking businessmen into the spotlight. Beyond the high-stakes missions, Martin's story is also a deeply personal one, as he struggled to balance his covert life with being a devoted husband, father, and son-all while the cartel's threats crept dangerously close to home. This book is unlike any other about the criminal underworld and is an essential read for those drawn to true crime stories, the intricacies of undercover operations, and the ongoing battle against international drug trafficking. Told with the pulse-racing action of a Hollywood blockbuster, INSIDE THE CARTEL is a book that should not be missed this fall.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

Retired agent Martin Suarez reviews his nearly seven-year undercover role infiltrating from inside the cartels. During Operation Colaboro, using the alias “Manny,” he smuggled millions of dollars' worth of cocaine for the Medellín Cartel, all of which was seized by the FBI after delivery. During Operation Golden Trash, Martin became a high-level money launderer for the North Coast Cartel. When the operation ended and the cartel thought Manny had stolen their money, they sent a hitman to Martin's home to kill him. Martin is the author of Inside The Cartel: How An Undercover FBI Agent Smuggled Cocaine, Laundered Cash, and Dismantled a Colombian Narco-Empire. His co-author, Ian Frisch, also takes part in this interview. The true crime tale recounts Martin's undercover operations, but also how Martin the family man was trying not to lose himself in his undercover roles. Martin served in the FBI for 23 years. These rumors often stem from misinterpretations of the show's regular breaks, such as the summer hiatus or spring break, during which reruns are aired. For instance, a post on X claimed Joy Behar announced the show was canceled, citing a statement about “one more show,” but this referred to the season finale before the hiatus, not a permanent end. Think about why the other shows were cancelled, if they shows were losing millions of dollars, where were the networks getting the money, we call it money laundering, USAID shutdown, NGOs not receiving money, DS propaganda outlets need to shutdown. campus.
