She is our lead coach and has worked with thousands of Special Operations family members, whether active, ETSed, or retired, and their significant others.  She has helped to redirect struggling relationships with tools that help us during our worst times.  She is here to teach us the tools to help us live our next best life without the bad baggage of our past. For those who are unaware, Stacey is a licensed clinical social worker who provides coaching services for All Secure Foundation. She specializes in relationship issues related but not limited to trauma and the impact of these painful experiences on both the individual and their relationships. She was fortunate enough to begin working in the field of mental health in 1989, starting her career in an inpatient addictions facility. Thus began the journey of training with trauma, PTS, depression, anxiety, and grief, to name a few. The most recent training with couples in emotionally focused therapy (EFT) began about 17 years ago that has enabled a plethora of tools, understanding, and an in-depth approach to working with and supporting people and their most valued relationships utilizing a mapping system to guide them along in their journeys. She was invited to join the All Secure team in 2019, working with military personnel and their significant others facilitating retreats that includes in-depth communication tools utilizing exercises with the training, guidance and support of Stacey, Tom and Jen.Beginning in 2020, she began coaching individuals and couples, virtually expanding the generous resources that All Secure Foundation has to offer. To say that it is a deep honor to work with the military, and their loved ones is such an understatement. “It is with complete gratitude that people trust and let me into the most sacred parts of their lives," says Stacey about what she gets to do with us. Let's get right to it!  Tune in to hear the tools that can help our relationships and lives, too.For more information about All Secure Foundation, visit https://allsecurefoundation.org/

Welcome back to the podcast, I'm Jamie Baynes. Today's guests are Tom and Jen Satterly, a husband and wife team who are also authors and the founders of the All Secure Foundation, and VIRAGO, a division of the All Secure Foundation that empowers women to help their combat warrior heal from post traumatic stress. I came across Tom and Jen when I picked up the book that he co-authored with Steve Jackson, All Secure, A Special Operations Soldier's Fight to Survive the Battlefield and the Homefront. I'm a big fan of fiction and non-fiction military books, so this one seemed right up my alley. Like many people, I'm fascinated by the Special Operations warriors and have always liked learning more about them. This book was different, though. Yes, there are great stories in there about Tom's training and service, but there's a darker side to Tom that he readily admits and writes about. I finished the book in days and reached out to see if he and Jen would like to be guests on the podcast and they agreed. I think most people idolize our Special Operations warriors and rightly so. They're out on the front lines and beyond keeping not only Americans safe, but people from other countries as well. But what most of us don't think about is the effect that their service has on their mental and physical well-being, not to mention the physical and mental well-being of their spouses. I strongly recommend reading All Secure and Jen's book, Arsenal of Hope: Tactics for Taking on PTSD together. You can find Tom and Jen at the links below and I hope you take some time to do so. We're all in this world together, so let's take care of one another.Until next time, thanks for listening.Tom and Jen's social media:Instagram:  @allsecurefoundation                          @virago_allsecurefoundationhomefrontFacebook: @AllSecureFoundationOnline: AllSecureFoundation.orgTom and Steve's book:All Secure: A Special Operations Soldier's Fight to Survive on the Battlefield and the Homefronthttps://www.amazon.com/All-Secure-Operators-Battlefield-Homefront-ebook/dp/B07H2D6B4K/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=all+secure+tom+satterly&qid=1674298531&sr=8-1Jen's book:Arsenal of Hope: Tactics for Taking on PTSD, Togetherhttps://www.amazon.com/Arsenal-Hope-Tactics-Taking-Together-ebook/dp/B08R6NJJMH/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3LIBOFKXJPRRA&keywords=jennifer+satterly&qid=1674298664&sprefix=jennifer+satterly%2Caps%2C342&sr=8-1

Tom Satterly is a former Command Sergeant Major from the US Army's Delta Force, also known as The Unit. During his 20 years at The Unit, Tom fought in and led countless high-profile missions including the capture of Saddam Hussein and the Battle of Mogadishu, also known as Black Hawk Down, which was the longest sustained firefight since Vietnam. That 18-hour firefight ended with Tom, along with several of his teammates, running the Mogadishu Mile to safety.Tom's career sounds like a Hollywood script, and he's literally been portrayed in movies because of it. It's hard to imagine doing more in the world of special operations than he did. But that lifestyle comes at a cost. In the early days of Tom and Jen's relationship, Tom was struggling with the physical, mental, and emotional toll of his two decades of intense training and combat. It nearly broke him, and it nearly destroyed his relationship with Jen. Tom and Jen met while Jen was working at a special operations training company. She noticed a pattern that was shared by the Navy SEALs, Green Berets, and Army Rangers that she was working with. That pattern was the same one that was affecting Tom, and in turn, affecting her. She wanted to know what could be done to help these special operators deal with the effects of post-traumatic stress, and what avenues there were for getting that help. So, she delved into health and wellness research and certifications in order to answer both parts of that question. She learned about post-traumatic stress, she learned what could be done about it, and she began doing the helping. As she and Tom worked to heal as individuals and repair their relationship, they began helping others to do the same. They founded All Secure Foundation in 2017 to help special operators and their families navigate the maze of treatments and modalities of healing from post-traumatic stress. They worked with hundreds of operators and their families and soon became a provider of education, awareness, and programs. On this episode, we talk with Tom and Jen about their story and All Secure Foundation.  Resources and links:All Secure Foundation Tom's highly-recommended book, All Secure (amazon affiliate link)

On this episode I am talking with former Delta Force operator, Tom Satterly, and his wife, Jen Satterly. Tom spent 20 years with Delta Force, and like some of the other guests I have had on, Tom was part of the Battle of Mogadishu, which many people know as the Black Hawk Down incident. Jen was a photographer assigned to document special operations when she met Tom. The two were eventually married. Together, they run the All Secure Foundation, which helps victims of PTSD in various ways, including retreats; which we get into on the episode. Tom has written a book called All Secure, and Jen has written a book called Arsenal of Hope, both of which I highly recommend you check out. Command Sgt. Major (ret.) Tom Satterly served in the Army for 25 years, 20 of those years were spent in the military's most secretive and elite Special Operations unit, Delta Force. As an Operator and CSM, Tom fought in and lead countless high profile military missions including Operation Red Dawn (Saddam Hussein's capture) and the Battle of Mogadishu (Black Hawk Down). Although the physical, mental, and emotional toll of war had compounded over the years, Tom never faced his Post-Traumatic Stress symptoms and in 2013 he nearly ended his life. Had it not been a text from his now wife, Jen, he would have joined the 22 veterans who commit suicide every single day. The Satterly's founded All Secure Foundation in August 2017 as a resource library for helping warriors and their families navigate the maze of treatments and modalities of healing from PTS. They have worked individually with hundreds of warriors and their families and soon became more than a referral website but also a provider of education, awareness, and programs for healing. It's not easy to talk about marriage difficulties in servicemembers' and veterans' families, or the battles of the mind, body, and spirit that accompany those problems. But I had a blast talking with Tom and Jen. The conversation ranges from examinations of manhood and femininity, expectation management for both spouses and servicemembers, and some casual put-downs of accountants and cat lovers. It's an eye-opening conversation about how to integrate relationship health into the warfighter's life - and a reminder about the reasons warfighting is often a single man's game - with a couple that has been through an awful lot and come out the other end smiling. https://allsecurefoundation.org/ (All Secure Foundation) https://allsecurefoundation.org/shop/all-secure-a-special-operations-soldiers-fight-to-survive-on-the-battlefield/ (All Secure) by Tom Satterly https://allsecurefoundation.org/shop/arsenal-of-hope-tactics-for-taking-on-ptsd-together/ (Arsenal of Hope) by Jen Satterly https://allsecurefoundation.org/shop/ (Shop All Secure Foundation) Follow All Secure Foundation https://www.instagram.com/allsecurefoundation/ (here).

Our Global Veterans with Sara Troy and her guest Tom Satterly, on air from February 11th All Secure: A Special Operations Soldier's Fight to Survive on the Battlefield and the Homefront By Tom Satterly Tom Satterly, served in the Army twenty-five years, He is author of the new book, All Secure: A Special Operations Soldier's Fight to Survive on the Battlefield and the Homefront. As a senior non-commissioned officer of Delta Force, the most elite and secretive special operations unit in the U.S. military, Command Sergeant Major Tom Satterly fought some of this country's most fearsome enemies. One of the most highly regarded special operations soldiers in American military history shares his war stories and personal battle with PTSD. Over the course of twenty years and thousands of missions, he's fought desperately for his life, rescued hostages, killed and captured terrorist leaders, and seen his friends maimed and killed around him. All Secure is in part Tom's journey into a world so dark and dangerous that most Americans can't contemplate its existence. It recounts what it is like to be on the front lines with one of America's most highly trained warriors. As action-packed as any fiction thriller, All Secure is an insider's view of "The Unit." Tom is a legend even among other Tier One special operators. Yet the enemy that cost him three marriages, and ruined his health physically and psychologically, existed in his brain. It nearly led him to kill himself in 2014, but for the lifeline thrown to him by an extraordinary woman, it might have ended there. Instead, they took on Satterly's most important mission-saving the lives of his brothers and sisters in arms who are killing themselves at a rate of more than twenty a day. Told through Satterly's firsthand experiences, it also weaves in the reasons-the bloodshed, the deaths, the intense moments of sheer terror, the survivor's guilt, depression, and substance abuse-for his career-long battle against the most insidious enemy of all: Post Traumatic Stress. With the help of his wife, he learned that by admitting his weaknesses and faults he sets an example for other combat veterans struggling to come home. https://selfdiscoverymedia.com/?p=88217
