Her Triumph Over PTSD, In Marriage and Life. Special Episode. Trauma often leaves silent scars. Jen Satterly has emerged as a powerful voice for recovery, resilience, and hope. Her journey, from behind the camera lens to the front lines of healing, reveals a deeply personal and professional commitment to helping others overcome the lingering effects of PTSD, especially within the tight-knit communities of Special Forces veterans and their families. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast episode is available for free on their website , Apple Podcasts , Spotify and most major podcast platforms. Jen's story begins not in uniform, but in creativity. As an award-winning advertising specialist and filmmaker, she was invited to embed with elite military units, capturing the essence of Special Operations training missions. Working alongside Navy SEALS, Green Berets, and Army Rangers, she documented the unfiltered reality of war simulation. But what she captured went far beyond the battlefield. It is also promoted across their Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium and other platforms. “Being embedded in that world opened my eyes not only to the courage of our warriors,” Jen shared, “but also to the invisible wounds they carry, ones that follow them home.” It was during this time that Jen met Tom Satterly, a retired Command Sgt. Major with Delta Force, and a highly decorated combat veteran. Tom's career had taken him through the darkest corners of modern warfare, including the Battle of Mogadishu, portrayed in the Oscar-winning movie "Black Hawk Down". This brutal engagement marked the longest firefight since Vietnam and left permanent imprints on all who survived. Her Triumph Over PTSD, In Marriage and Life. Look for supporting stories about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium , Blogspot and Linkedin . Tom's internal battle didn't end with his military service. Like many veterans, he struggled with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Jen quickly realized the emotional toll extended beyond the soldier to the entire family unit. Their marriage became both a test and a testament to what love and understanding could achieve in the face of trauma. Together, they founded the All Secure Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Special Operations warriors and their families heal from the trauma of war. Jen, now a certified health and wellness coach, stepped away from production to focus on helping others navigate life after combat. Their mission: to treat both the seen and unseen wounds of war. “PTS doesn't just affect the veteran,” Jen emphasized. “It's a battle that affects the entire household. Spouses and children experience what's called complex secondary PTSD. They become collateral damage in a war they never signed up for.” Available for free on their website and streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast platforms. Jenn Satterly co-authored "Arsenal of Hope", a powerful book that delivers practical tools and raw, authentic stories from their life together. In it, Jen draws from both scientific research and lived experience, weaving together tactics to manage PTSD symptoms, from isolation and anxiety to anger and depression, through actionable advice and humor. Her Triumph Over PTSD, In Marriage and Life. “Arsenal of Hope isn't just a book,” Jen said. “It's a lifeline for anyone who feels like they're drowning.” Jen also founded Virago, a platform tailored specifically for women who face PTSD on the home front. Virago, which means a woman of strength, aims to educate, empower, and connect women who are often the silent strength behind our nation's heroes. Their story has resonated with thousands, especially through social platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, where they regularly share resources, insights, and community events. Their podcast, also titled All Secure, is available on Apple and Spotify, and features unflinching conversations about trauma, healing, and personal transformation. You can listen to his stories and interview on our website for free in addition to platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and other major podcast platforms. In this episode of the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast listeners will find an unfiltered look into the reality of military marriages, life after combat, and practical recovery strategies. The Satterlys' efforts haven't gone unnoticed. The All Secure Foundation has earned top ratings from nonprofit watchdogs and now serves thousands of veterans and families. Their work fills a vital gap in the support system, especially for those in the elite Special Operations community who often face stigma around seeking help. Her Triumph Over PTSD, In Marriage and Life. Tom, who once led missions capturing war criminals and taking down high-value targets, including Saddam Hussein, now channels his warrior ethos into emotional recovery. He credits Jen not only as his wife but as his partner in healing. “She didn't just marry me,” Tom says. “She married the mission, and together, we're bringing light to a very dark place.” Follow the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Medium and most all social media platforms. The Battle of Mogadishu may have defined Tom's career, but it's the battles fought in the quiet corners of home, through connection, understanding, and advocacy, that now define the couple's legacy. And for Jen, the mission is clear: turn pain into purpose and help others find victory in their own war against PTSD. You can also follow them on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and other Social Media Platforms. To follow Jen Satterly's journey, connect with her on Social Media like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, or visit AllSecureFoundation.org. Her voice, advocacy, and compassion continue to serve those still fighting their battles, long after the gunfire fades. Her Triumph Over PTSD, In Marriage and Life. The interview is available as a free podcast on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and podcast website, also available on platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and most major podcast outlets. Through his extensive research (and his military background) he has so much to share about our curious question.  Guest Info International bestselling author Jeffrey Wilson has at one time worked as an actor, a firefighter, a paramedic, a jet pilot, a diving instructor, a Naval Officer, and a Vascular and Trauma Surgeon. He is a U.S. Navy veteran who served more than fourteen years, with multiple deployments as a combat surgeon with Naval Special Warfare (SEALs) and a Joint Special Operations Task Force. His research has been called "mind-blowing" by Malcolm Gladwell and "life-changing" by Brene Brown. In 2023, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his work with US Special Operations on training the brain to act smarter in chaos. He began working with the Army's Command and General Staff College two years ago, both virtually and by conducting in-person sessions at military bases.“If you can come up with an original action and you put two actions together, that's an original plan. And then you start to put a lot of actions together, and that's an original strategy,” Fletcher said. “We wanted to train up these areas of the brain that allow you to come up with original actions, plans, plus strategies, so that when you're in an environment that's a contested space, when someone else is trying to break your plan, you can come up with a new plan that allows you to achieve what it was you wanted to do in the beginning.”So how does this apply to our new mission after the military? Sheriff Dart has revolutionized a system that most people don't even want to look at, let alone get into the trenches of & that is prison reform. Something that hit home for us in SOF is that if a person can be rehabilitated, then you should take that time & effort to do so. "When they're back on the street which version do you want to bump into at target?"Sheriff Tom Dart has dedicated his career to challenging injustice, fighting the violence plaguing our communities, & bringing new, thoughtful approaches to public service. After serving as a prosecutor & an IL state legislator, Sheriff Dart was elected by the people of Cook County, & has brought his reformative vision, & his commitment to action, to his role as sheriff. Sheriff Dart has rewritten the book on what a sheriff can accomplish, looking inside & outside of the conventions of LE for nuanced & thoughtful solutions to help people.Sheriff Dart's skills in management, accountability, & forward-thinking leadership was critical in the success of the Cook County Jail being released from almost 40 yrs of oversight by the U.S. Department of Justice's federal consent decree, making it the only large jail to ever complete such a task.Sheriff Dart has instituted extensive programming at the Cook County Jail, seeking to give individuals in custody, skills that help to stop the revolving door of incarceration. The Sheriff has sought out creative programming within the jail in the areas of art, chess, construction, cooking, gardening, parenting, & literacy, all of which help foster social & emotional growth for individuals in custody while they await trial.Sheriff Dart also formed the Cook County Sheriff's Office's Treatment Response Team to provide support & assistance (available 24/7) for those in the community struggling with substance abuse issues.Sheriff Dart has been named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by TIME Magazine, & a Public Official of the Year by Governing Magazine. The growth mindset is important to cultivate as you journey onto the next step following your time in SOF. In this episode with Aaron, he recognizes and owns what he's done in the past, speaks on imposter syndrome, is able to reflect on his growth, and questions Tom on his same path. Aaron also knows he's not on mile 26 of the marathon of life. There's more growth to come. Aaron Hill served for five years with the 45 Royal Marine Commandos and  five years with the 22 SAS (UKSF). From the military, he went into the private security industry for ten years, working generally in high-risk, high-pressure, hostile environments, but also for a premiership football team and a few of their players. Feeling the need to be closer to home to support his young family, he retrained as a personal trainer and started working in a local gym outside of Barcelona, Spain. While in the gym, he went from an under-stimulated and frustrated victim to starting to see his real potential and how to be his authentic self. This was thanks to the work of his friend of mine who coached him and lead him to realise that he  had a desire to help people and that for many years he had been living with a very narrow view of the world and about himself He now works as a resilience coach. It helps drive  individuals who feel stuck and want to get the best of themselves and find their own version of success and fulfillment. Over the course of 13 years, Marcus served through multiple combat deployments as a U.S. Navy SEAL until he medically retired in 2013. He and his wife, Amber, thought that life would return to "normal," when in truth, their struggle had just begun. Marcus was experiencing an ever-growing echelon of challenges, including depression, isolation, cognitive impairment, excessive alcohol use, headaches, insomnia, intense mood swings, and impulsivity. Marcus was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress Injury  (PTSI). Shocked by this discovery, Amber felt there was more to the story. After learning about the effects of blast waves, concussive, and sub-concussive brain injuries, a broader picture was painted. Marcus' military career as an explosives expert, combined with his prior years of contact sports, had left him with the seemingly invisible wounds of traumatic brain injury (TBI), a condition that has significant overlap with PTSI, and is often not properly diagnosed. Inevitably, this builds strong, lasting relationships in which a coach wears many other hats - mentor, counselor, friend, manager, and sometimes a parental figure. Chafee for cover. VanSant tells stories of loss and grappling with the survivor's guilt that would ultimately change the course of his life. Chris serves on the board of the All Secure Foundation and is on a multi-year effort to complete the seven summits to raise awareness for veteran mental health and support All Secure.
