Brothers Outrun BigfootIn 1976, three brothers—Mike, Harold, and Scott—hiked along Old William Penn Highway, a forested road, to meet girls in Garden City, Monroeville. On their way, they encountered a foul smell, like a dead animal, which unnerved them. After meeting the girls and heading back at midnight, they felt watched. As they walked, something large moved through the forest, paralleling and then approaching them, causing panic. They ran, but the entity kept pace, eventually overtaking them. Mike screamed after seeing a tall, furry creature crouching near the road, watching them. Terrified and in shock, the brothers struggled to reach their car and drove away slowly. Mike described the creature as over six feet tall, covered in fur, and curiously observing them without attacking. The experience left them traumatized, avoiding nighttime hikes and carrying firearms for protection thereafter.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

This week's featured story comes from the Sparkle Car collection. It's called "Sparkle Car #8: The Magic of Backroads." This episode of Sparkle Car features a story from our "By Thistle By Thimble" story series: "The Glove Box" Gregory and his grandmother both share a deep interest in things from 'times gone by'. He spends long hours sorting through boxes in her attic, bins in her basement, and drawers in her garage; and she loves telling him stories about the curious tools and toys and objects that he finds. But there is one place he's not allowed to dig: the glove box in her car. She always tells him: "It is not for you Gregory - at least not yet." Many years later, Gregory gets to discover the magic that was kept inside - a magic that could show him something very dear to both him and his grandmother. Also included is the German folktale "The Water of Life", about the wanderings of the youngest son of an ailing man. The boy is able to find what his brothers could not, due to his generosity and kindness to a strange man he meets on a back road on the way to the palace. In today's episode of Ten Minutes to Less Suffering, I explore the difference between constantly trying to fix ourselves and learning to fully inhabit who we already are. When we stop searching for solutions outside ourselves and begin to listen inwardly, we return to a place of clarity, presence, and strength. Affirmation: I don't chase wholeness. I remember it. Even in heartbreak, in silence, in longing—Wholeness was never gone. I am not a problem to solve. I am not waiting to be rescued. Even when I ache, I am not less. Even when I stumble, I am not lost. I begin here. As I am. Breathing. Listening. Living. Healing is not becoming someone new. It is the soft, honest return to who I've always been. I can spend my life trying to fix myself… Or I can finally choose to be myself. One is endless effort. The other is freedom.  I want to be free. Here I am. Not fixing. Just being. And Maybe that… is enough. If you found this podcast enjoyable, kindly consider subscribing and leaving a rating or review. Framed for a Bigfoot CrimeA former convict prohibited from using firearms, went bow hunting for deer in Ohio after a heavy snowfall. While tracking a wounded 14-point buck, he followed its trail with his brother-in-law's bloodhound, Lovebug, until the dog refused to proceed out of fear. Continuing alone, Bobby found where the buck had died, but it was gone, replaced by large, barefoot human-like footprints. He followed these tracks for hours, eventually discovering a thicket with the buck's remains, surrounded by various-sized footprints and a human skull. Realizing he was in what he believed to be a Bigfoot den, Bobby took a photo, grabbed the buck's head, and fled after hearing a roar. He reported the findings to authorities, who investigated and found more human remains. Bobby was detained for 12 days without charges, questioned repeatedly by federal agents who insisted he claim a bear took the deer. Eventually, he gave the “correct” answer to secure his release, but his buck's head was confiscated for hunting violations, and he lost his job. Convinced of Bigfoot's existence due to the footprints, roar, and scene, Bobby shares his story despite believing the government is covering up the truth.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support

We're kicking off our first-ever book report episode—and yes, we're calling it that on purpose. Because books have always been part of our whole life. I'm joined by my favorite reading partner: my husband, Matt. Together, we dive into stories that make us laugh, think, and ugly-cry in public. We talk about what we're reading (Margot's Got Money Troubles and Atmosphere, spoiler-free, promise). We also chat about how books shape our worldview, challenge our biases, and sometimes leave us sobbing on a treadmill—or doing laundry while quietly falling apart. Whether you read with your partner or solo, whether you love audiobooks or prefer paperbacks, this episode is an invitation to think differently about fiction—and how the right story at the right time can shift everything. 0:00 | Why We're Talking About Books 1:15 | Fiction That Surprises and Stretches Us 4:30 | Letting Go of Judgment (Even the Quiet Kind) 6:45 | Systems, Safety, and How We Care for Others 8:30 | How and Why We Read (Audiobooks, Shared Credits & Book Clubs) 11:30 | An Author We Love (and Why She's More Than “Chick Lit”) 13:00 | Space, Sexism, and Historical Power 17:00 | What Draws Us Into a Story (Even When It's Not Our Thing) 19:15 | Identity, Safety, and Belonging 21:45 | Choosing Between Love and Purpose 23:30 | Emotional Payoff (Without Spoilers) 25:00 | When a Book Wrecks You—in the Best Way 27:00 | Crafting Characters That Actually Matter 30:00 | Layers of Family, Friendship, and Social Pressure 33:00 | Villains, Compassion, and Personal Growth 35:00 | What We're Reading Now 41:00 | Our Love Story, Told in Audiobooks 43:00 | What's Next on Our Reading List Find Stacy: realeverything.com instagram.com/realstacytoth missionmakersart.com Learn more about your ad choices. War of the SpeciesA photographer ventures into the Five Ponds Wilderness in upstate New York with friends who are hunting deer. While his friends hunt, he aims to capture wildlife and scenic shots with his new 1200mm zoom lens. After hours of hiking and photographing, he encounters an eerie silence in the forest, followed by mysterious footsteps. He discovers a small, fur-covered creature he initially mistakes for a human child under attack by large, wolf-like creatures. Firing his revolver, he fends off the attackers, only to face a massive, wolf-like humanoid. In a desperate struggle, he kills the creature, sustaining severe injuries, and rescues the small being, which he realizes is a young sasquatch.Returning to camp with the injured sasquatch, he faces another attack by wolf-like creatures and humanoid "wolfmen." A sasquatch group intervenes, engaging in a fierce battle with the wolfmen, allowing the photographer to survive. He tends to the young sasquatch's wounds, and its parents eventually retrieve it, showing gratitude. His friends, however, are missing, and he later discovers their mutilated bodies, killed by the wolf-like creatures. Traumatized, he spends time in a hospital and psych ward, with authorities dismissing his story as a delusion, attributing the deaths to wild dogs and a bear attack. Despite evidence supporting his account, he is pressured to stay silent.Haunted by nightmares and unable to resume normal life, he returns to the wilderness eight months later, seeking closure. He encounters the young sasquatch again, now healed, and establishes a tentative bond with its family. Leaving food offerings, he finds peace in the wilderness, hoping to coexist with the sasquatch and escape the horrors of his past.Join my Supporters Club for $4.99 per month for exclusive stories:https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/what-if-it-s-true-podcast--5445587/support
