Another college football coaching casualty as Oklahoma State fires Mike Gundy, Bucs sign 400+ lb. Desmond Watson to practice squad ahead of Eagles game
Nebraska drops another Big Ten opener, 30–27 to Michigan, and Travis Justice & Dr. Rob Zatechka break down why the score felt closer than the game. From seven sacks and goal-line woes to Michigan's clear edge in speed and physicality, the guys zero in on the offensive tackles, short-yardage issues, and three explosive TD runs allowed. They also defend Dylan Raiola's day (it wasn't on the QB) and compare him to Bryce Underwood, separating arm talent, accuracy, and true dual-threat juice. With a bye week on deck, they outline what can actually be fixed now (OL personnel/scheme tweaks, tackling fits, protection help) and what's a longer project. Then it's a tour around college football: Indiana surges under Curt Cignetti, Wisconsin spirals (is Luke Fickell on the clock?), Florida's brutal slate puts Billy Napier in peril, and why monster buyouts are warping the coaching carousel. Post-Gazette Pitt insiders Stephen Thompson and Abby Schnable look ahead to the Panthers' matchup against Central Michigan on Saturday. After a dominant performance by Eli Holstein against Duquesne in their season opener, how will he react to the Chippewas defense? Should Kyle Louis be concerned about the run game? How will Kade Bell use the receiving group to keep his offense on the field? And what do Javon McIntyre and Pitt's defense need to do to avoid challenges created by Central Michigan's offense? Our duo tackles those questions and shares their game picks for this matchup.

On the Friday sports edition of 'Will Cain Country,' Will is joined by “The Film Guy,” Brooks Austin to dive into the upcoming college football season, starting with the biggest name of them all: Arch Manning. Brooks says Arch has the poise, arm talent, and command of Steve Sarkisian's offense to be special, easily a better upgrade over Quinn Ewers. They also run through the national QB landscape: why LaNorris Sellers might be the best quarterback in the country, how LSU's Garrett Nussmeier could break out, and why Oklahoma may be in trouble despite bringing in a big-name coordinator. Brooks offers his playoff picks in addition to his surprise teams to watch. Also, can James Franklin finally win a big one at Penn State? Don't bet on it. Will then talks with Cody Campbell, Texas Tech Chairman of the Board of Regents, member of the President's Council on Sports, Fitness, & Nutrition, and Co-Founder & Co-CEO of Double Eagle Energy Holdings, about how to fix college sports. Campbell warns that without serious reform, NIL and over-professionalization will kill Olympic and women's sports. But with the right leadership and cooperation, he's confident college athletics can be saved, and Texas Tech, he hints, is just getting started. The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, Scott Eklund, and intern Jakob Spielholz - had a lot to talk about after the Washington Huskies went through a very long Saturday scrimmage under a beautiful spring Seattle sky, a scrimmage that was roughly around 120 plays in all different types of scenarios. From goal line to red zone, to coming out of the end zone, to overtime, to 2-minute - the Huskies covered a lot of ground. Who stood out? Was the offense able to continue to make headroom, or was the defense once again the side of the ball that showed the most dominance? There were some standout performances, and we go through all of the ones that we saw, and on both sides. Because it was a scrimmage and the defense was tackling, there was some things to definitely talk about in terms of the running game. After a quick break, the talk turned to recruiting and Scott offered up a quick update on all the prospects that he saw. The Huskies are hosting four official visitors this weekend - RB Brian Bonner, OL Sam Utu, OL Aaron Thomas, and WR Denairius Gray. There were also a number of unofficial visitors on hand, and Scott talks about them too.
