Islay is the island of dreams for each and every Scotch lover and even though the island does have uncountable beautiful spots, we have to admit that we love being down at Bunnahabhain Distillery enjoying a dram at the pier with its views across the sound of Islay towards the Paps of Jura. Our guest in this episode, David Brodie, beloved tour guide at Bunnahabhain, probably feels the same. David talks about how he got to Islay and Bunnahabhain, about Islay's weather, the bumpy road down to the distillery and, of course, about the casks and the whisky as well as the experience in Bunnahabhain's famous Warehouse 9 tasting. He also reveals stories about his funniest (or should I say strangest?) guests on the tour and which drams you should absolutely try. So imagine sitting at the Bunnahabhain pier, looking over to the Paps of Jura - and then pour yourself a good dram of (Bunnahabhain) whisky and join David and Miri on this episode of "Inside Whisky - The Barrel Talk".

"Welcome Family" is likely the first thing you will hear when you get off the boat and first step foot onto Malolo Island, and you certainly will feel welcome here. This is a luxury resort on a remote part of the Mamanuca Islands that has been designed as a upscale escape for families and couples. The house reef just offshore provides a daily dose of snorkelling adventures, but if you can find time to take your snorkel and mask off you will also find opportunities for hiking, village visits, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, jet skiing, fishing and more. There is an excellent kids club, a spa with a jungle view and several dining options overseen by a South African Head Chef and Canadian Pastry Chef - a husband and wife team who make dining here a pleasure. The bures have been recently renovated and are clean, modern and hip done in a plantation style. This is the sort of place you can unplug, watch the sunset and reconnect with family. © David Brodie - travelin10.com

The hotel also has a number of great quirky amenities like their "Raid the Pantry" feature, essentially a free night-time extensive snack bar for guests in the lobby, or the hotel resident dog, a black lab you can take out for a jog on the lake.   Their signature restaurant "Bin on the Lake" features an extensive collection of regional wines, on tap, meaning you can sample a wide variety of high quality wines by the glass. They also have an excellent spa on site.   The location also make this an ideal jumping off point to explore some of the nearby wineries of Washington in nearby Woodinville or the galleries and shops in upscale Kirkland. We will be taking you to visit Chateau St. Michelle Winery and then finishing off the tour at the Future of Flight Aviation Center and Boeing Tour.   This trip makes a great weekend away from Vancouver, BC, Victoria, BC or Portland, Oregon.   © David Brodie - travelin10.com
