Welcome to this week's bonus episode as I share a new concept for the Winging It Travel Podcast. This is an immersive audio episode about my 20 km return hike to Garibaldi Lake over one night and two days. I share my experience hiking up with forest sounds and hiking poles, my reaction to the fantastic views of Garibaldi Lake, and the ups and downs of camp life. The elevation was 900m from the parking lot, with most of the elevation occurring in the first 6km of the hike towards the campground and vice versa back down the next day. Along the way, I collected sounds, spoke into the camera for a real-life reaction, and had a fantastic coffee product to share. I combined these with post-hike responses to give you the sense you were there with me on the hike. In this episode, we embark on an unforgettable journey along the stunning Garibaldi Lake Trail in British Columbia. Join me as I hike through dense forests, across scenic meadows, and up to the breathtaking Garibaldi Lake with crystal-clear turquoise waters. Along the way, I'll share tips for tackling this challenging yet rewarding trail. We'll set up camp at the beautiful Garibaldi Lake Campground for an overnight wilderness adventure. Canada is one of the best places in the world for lake views, and this one is no different. This is a true hiking adventure in Canada and one very close to my home city of Vancouver, just over an hour's drive away. This is a must when visiting the area!I am excited to share this new type of episode with you; let me know what you think. Welcome to episode 155! This week, Shafik Meghji rejoins me for a second time to discuss travelling in Patagonia. In this episode, we will touch on Cordoba, Argentina's second city, and why it isn't on the traveller's radar for travel in Argentina. We discuss the best times to travel to Patagonia, the issue of over-tourism, and the different entry points into the region. We explore the landscapes and attractions of Patagonia's Argentine and Chilean sides, including the Peninsula Valdes, Welsh Patagonia, Los Glaciares National Park, and the Lake District. Patagonia can be expensive, but we mention the affordability of travelling by bus in the region and highlight the Tren del Fin del Mundo, the southernmost railway on earth, and travelling by boat in Chile to reach Patagonia.Shafik talked us through his previous travels to the region when he visited Ushuaia, South Georgia, the Falkland Islands and Antarctica. Shafik has travelled in the region for the last two decades and was based in Buenas Aires for a year in his younger days. He is an expert in the region, and I am so glad to get his thoughts on Patagonia. Thanks, Shafik, for coming to the show; we will get that hat trick in!TakeawaysPatagonia is a vast region spanning the southern halves of Argentina and Chile, known for its dramatic landscapes and wilderness. The best times to visit Patagonia are spring + autumn to avoid the peak summer crowds.Overtourism is a concern in popular spots like Torres del Paine.Comfortable buses offer amenities like meals + entertainment. The End of the World Train in Ushuaia, Argentina, was built by convict labour + is now a tourist attraction.Ushuaia is the main port for ships to Antarctica, and visiting Antarctica is a popular tourist activity.Cordoba, Argentina's second city, is known for its beautiful architecture, universities, and surrounding natural attractions.Travelling independently in Patagonia is possible with some planning, and the public transport network is reliable.Train travel in Europe is a great way to explore the continent.Shafik MeghjiWebsiteInstagramWinging It Travel PodcastWebsiteCreditsHost/Producer/Creator/Writer/Composer/Editor - James HammondPodcast Art Design - Swamp Soup Company - Harry UttonSupport Winging ItBuy Me A Coffee - HereMerch Store - Here Buy My Digital Travel Planner - HereAffiliate Links If you book anything using my resources link below, I get a tiny commission, which helps the podcast.https://www.wingingittravelpodcast.com/resourcesThanks!Hosted by Ausha. LALiens love the 8 o'clock start time. We've got the data. Today, Norm and Mike explore America's legitimation crisis through the lens of Social Media & the Courts. Mike regards social media as a 'savage landscape' and the two use multiple ongoing cases and matters to illustrate the widening disconnect between citizen groups in the United States. In particular, the following: › Judge Juan Merchan ordered that President Donald Trump may not distribute copies of discovery produced in the Manhattan criminal court case on social media. Judge Merchan made it explicitly clear that the ruling is not a gag order, that DA Alvin Bragg did not ask for one, and further that even if so solicited none would have been issued. What meaningful conclusions may be drawn? › New video has emerged out of New York showing one Daniel Perry rendering aid to Jordan Peely. Specifically, Perry can be seen assisting the other passengers involved in getting Peely into a left-side lateral recovery position, while onlooking passengers comment favorably about Perry's handling of the situation. Why did it take so long for this video to emerge? › The Tennessee Firearms Association, joined by former Hamilton County Sheriff, James Hammond, has sued the Nashville Police Department asking the Davidson County Chancery Court to order NPD to release the Covenant School shooter's manifesto. Compare with the events of Allen, Texas, from over the weekend. Why is it that mainstream and establishment media outlets are content to label the shooter conclusively as being of the radical right but incurious as to the nature of Audrey Hale's state of mind in the time leading up to the Nashville tragedy? › A new poll shows President Joe Biden in a deepening political basement. According to that poll, which George Stephanopoulos refers to as "brutal for President Biden," shows Trump and DeSantis as being 7 and 6 percentage points respectively ahead of Biden. Mount Paektu, the highest mountain on the Korean Peninsula, holds a special place in North Korea. Not only did Kim Il Sung — the country's first leader — based his anti-Japanese guerrilla campaign there, Kim Jong Il — his son and the country's second leader — was born on the mountain, according to the DPRK's dubious official history. Mount Paektu is also considered the birthplace of Dangun, the mythical founder of Korea's first kingdom. Amid the inter-Korean rapprochement of 2018, North and South Korean leaders Kim Jong Un and Moon Jae-in famously held hands and took photos atop the mountain. It's also an active volcano. Just over 1,000 years ago, Mount Paektu erupted on a scale that ranks among the largest in recorded human history. James Hammond of Birkbeck, University of London is the director of the Mount Paektu Research Centre. Hammond joins the NK News Podcast to talk about his interest in the mountain, collaboration with North Korean scientists, how sanctions affect what research equipment you can bring into the DPRK and much more. About the podcast: The North Korea News Podcast is a weekly podcast hosted by Jacco Zwetsloot (@JaccoZed) exclusively for NK News, covering all things DPRK — from news to extended interviews with leading experts and analysts in the field, along with insight from our very own journalists.

Today on the Expat Money Show, I'm going to share with you my recent interview on an excellent podcast called Winging It Travel Podcast with James Hammond. I had a great experience on the show and really enjoyed our conversation. We got into many things that we don't normally talk about on this program, and I answered questions that had not been asked of me before. My team and I thought the episode was so good that we got special permission to play it on our podcast. WHAT JOHN HAMMOND AND I DISCUSS I talk about the beginning of my life and how I became a world traveller. We talk about the crazy places I've visited during my 23 years as a world traveller. Places that I loved the most and why visiting there will change your life. I've lived in 9 different countries. I talk about all of them and why I moved out of one country and moved to a new country. I share my experience of living in Brazil and why I love the country so much. Why do I continue to travel? Why is travelling so important for my family and me? Where did the concept of Expat Money come from? Did it just drop in my lap? Or did I work through it and figure out things from the ground up? James was a great host. We finish the podcast with a quick-fire travel question round. He asked some amazing questions, and you'll get to hear my fun answers. It's always nice to go way back in your memory and relive some of the best days of your life.
