Julian KheelFounder and CEOPoints PathOver the last 15 years, Julian Kheel has become one of the world's top experts on travel rewards. He first learned the ins and outs of travel loyalty programs while flying more than 200,000 miles a year as a TV producer and director for World Wrestling Entertainment (and yes, of course it's all real). He expanded his expertise on travel topics in the following years, writing about travel for U.S. News and World Report, along with popular weekly columns for the travel rewards websites Frequent Miler and Travel Codex.Noting Kheel's growing following, he was recruited in 2016 to work at The Points Guy, the largest website in the world covering travel rewards, where he served as both Editorial Director and Director of Special Projects. He was the creator of the site's now‐annual “Best and Worst U.S. Airlines” special report, as well as personally authoring its first and second yearly editions, both of which drew attention from hundreds of media outlets across the country.Following his time at The Points Guy, Kheel became a Senior Editor at CNN covering both travel and finance topics, and launched the company's first e‐commerce division focused on travel rewards. Battling through the global stoppage in travel from the pandemic, he grew the small section from its infancy to over seven figures of annual revenue in only three years. In 2023, Kheel left CNN to become the founder and CEO of Points Path, a company that helps people utilize their travel rewards. The company's browser extension not only shows travelers the cost in points and miles of every flight directly in Google Flights, but also indicates whether using points or miles for each flight is the better deal. In just 8 months, Points Path has grown to over 40,000 users, and has been lauded by numerous travel publications.Kheel has appeared regularly as an analyst to discuss finance, travel and loyalty programs on national television segments for CNN, Bloomberg News, CNBC's “Squawk Box,” Yahoo Finance and Cheddar TV, as well as on ABC and CBS Radio. He has been quoted in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, the Chicago Tribune, and many other print and web outlets on travel-related topics. He has also worked as a consultant for the “Big 3” US airlines, advising them on their frequent flyer programs.Originally from New York and South Florida, Kheel is a graduate of Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications with a bachelor's degree in television, radio and film production. Area/TopicWorldwide, Central Asia, Middle EastMarc LeadermanProduct & Operations DirectorWild Frontiers Adventure TravelWhen I was younger we never journeyed anywhere as a family, so my love of travel really started at university when I spent one summer teaching English in Romania, in what turned out to be one of the most transformative trips I have ever experienced. It was just after the fall of communism and it was a real eye-opener for me to see people, the same age as me, living such different lifestyles - something I'd only really glimpsed on the news. They had all lived through the turmoil and violence of the events of 1989, so meeting them and hearing their stories really piqued my interest in the wider world. After graduating, I taught English in Japan and then I went to Australia, where I spent some time as a door-to-door salesman. When I eventually came home, it was short-lived - I spent the next ten years as a UK tax-exile, tour-leading in over 60 countries from North Korea to Mali. On one occasion where I returned to London, I met Jonny. I thought I'd been to some of the most adventurous places out there before I met him! I attended one of Jonny's talks on Afghanistan and he thought I was spying for a rival travel company, but I was just interested in what Wild Frontiers did and now I head up the Product and Operations department (and also, regrettably, have to pay tax!)With my product hat on, I'm always looking at new areas to which we can travel - a role which is endlessly exciting, especially as the world changes. It's important that we keep that Wild Frontiers' edge on emerging destinations. But it's also about visiting familiar places in new ways. From the operational side, it's really about managing the constant challenges that come up on tours, the ever changing rules and regulations and just making sure that everything on the road happens as planned. She has a bachelor's degree in economics and an MBA in finance from the University of California at Berkeley. Prior to retirement, she spent her career working in banking and in finance in the corporate world. How did a person with degrees in economics and finance "end up" volunteering as CEO for an environmental conservation nonprofit? She always loved the outdoors, she has volunteered since she was in high school, and she prefers doing to talking. Brought up in a time when children were free-range, Chris rode her bike, climbed trees, scrambled among the rocks along the ocean cliffs - outdoors was fun, freedom, inner peace. In college her husband introduced her to backpacking, and once they figured out how a 5'3" woman could happily hike with a man who had a 6'3" stride, hiking in the mountains with her husband became her favorite getaway. https://conservationvip.org/summaryChris Braunlich is the board chair and CEO of Conservation Volunteers International Program (Conservation VIP), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping sustain landscapes, cultural heritage sites, and biodiversity. The organization focuses on international volunteering and runs programs in various destinations. They rely on revenue from volunteers who participate in their trips and also accept donations. Conservation VIP aims to preserve and protect important places and projects, and they align volunteers with tasks that match their skills and abilities. The organization emphasizes the importance of good trails and the responsibility of global citizens to contribute to conservation efforts. Public lands, such as national parks, are precious places that are increasingly appreciated as urbanization limits access to natural spaces. The maintenance of national parks is a significant challenge, with an estimated $22 billion needed for maintenance in US national parks alone. National parks play a crucial role in protecting biodiversity and preserving natural habitats. However, it is important to balance human access with the need to protect and preserve the natural environment. There is an opportunity for tour operators to partner with conservation organizations to offer trips that incorporate volunteer work and conservation efforts.takeawaysConservation VIP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to sustaining landscapes, cultural heritage sites, and biodiversity. The organization relies on revenue from volunteers who participate in their trips and also accepts donations.Conservation VIP aligns volunteers with tasks that match their skills and abilities. The organization emphasizes the importance of good trails and the responsibility of global citizens to contribute to conservation efforts. Area/TopicWorldwide, Transformational Travel, SustainabilityMary StangeOwnerPonte TravelsMy passion for world travel was first sparked through a study abroad semester in Limerick, Ireland when I was 19. Since then, I have traveled to numerous countries — many of those with my two kids by my side. A career serving in the U.S. Navy inspired me to seek an advanced degree in International Relations from American University with a focus in Development. My work since then has further instilled my characteristic global mindset and dedication to encourage others to experience the world first-hand and support local economies. After separating from the Navy in 2015, my family began a new life chapter traveling the world, allowing them the opportunity to live overseas in countries such as Armenia, Colombia, and Cyprus.I believe in the transformative nature of travel; that experiencing the world with respect and humility develops our tolerance, empathy, and most of all understanding of the world and ourselves.
