It's time to pump up that flabby womb, everyone. Grab a bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar, make sure your feet are elevated a good 10 inches while sitting on a toilet and get ready for the tale of "Dr." Paul Bragg and his health knowledge about the benefits of apple cider vinegar. Strange Country cohosts Beth and Kelly share nuggets from Bragg's tome Apple Cider Vinegar: Miracle Health System written 19 years after his death at the age of 80 or 199—what are numbers or facts or science or reality—who cares? The guy in charge of the federal health complex freezes raccoon penises. Theme music: Big White Lie by A Cast of Thousands. Cite your sources: Bragg, Patricia, and Paul C. Bragg. Are you hoping to visit Corsica? I've got a story for you! I (Kat) did a 9-day road trip around Corsica full of fun, relaxation, adventure, and more! Aside from the stunning beaches in Corsica, there are also ample hiking trails. It is known for the GR20, a multi-day trek known to be one of the most challenging in Europe. While I definitely didn't attempt that, I did hike a portion of it when my friend and I hiked the Aiguilles de Bavella Loop Trail. But things suddenly took a turn when AllTrails information was inaccurate and reviews that claimed it was only a 4.5-hour hike also weren't always fully correct. What was supposed to be a 6.9-mile (11.1 km) hike in 4.5 hours, it ended up being an 8.4-mile (13.5 km) hike that took around 7-7.5 hours. It's not the longest day hike I've ever done… but certainly one where we weren't prepared with ample water. Lessons were most certainly learned including to always pack more water than you think you'll need AND ALWAYS carry a LifeStraw Water Bottle. Here is my tale that is partially funny (now that we're totally fine) and partially a little scary. Plus, I've got tips for your success in hiking this trail. Bon courage while hiking the Aiguilles de Bavella Loop in Corsica!   Corrections: -There were many people that did complete it on AllTrails, but for some it looks like many spots disconnected, making it appear shorter and/or possibly have less time. -Depending on your physical fitness and breaks, you could take between 5-8 hours. -Getting up the mountain is around 2-2.5 miles or so (rather than 3 miles), then it goes down for a bit. -The repelling on a chain wasn't fully vertical, it was just a steep decline.   Check us out on Substack: Follow for updates, free and paid posts, and exclusive podcast episodes! Women face various dangers while jogging on trails, stemming from safety concerns that can arise due to their vulnerability and societal factors. These dangers include the risk of harassment, assault, abduction, and injury. The secluded nature of many trails, lack of proper lighting, and limited access to help can exacerbate these risks. Women often feel a need to be hyper-vigilant, altering their behavior and routines to mitigate these dangers. However, it's important to note that not all trails and locations pose the same level of risk, and many women continue to enjoy jogging safely by taking precautions and advocating for improved safety measures.Statistics: Statistics on the dangers women face while jogging on trails can vary depending on location and data availability. However, some general trends and figures highlight the risks:Harassment and Assault:According to a 2016 survey by Runner's World, 43% of women have experienced harassment during a run.A survey conducted by Stop Street Harassment in 2014 found that 65% of women had experienced street harassment, which can extend to trails as well.Abduction and Violence:Exact statistics on abduction specifically on trails are harder to come by. However, cases of women being abducted while jogging in public areas have been reported. The threat of violence, including physical assault, remains a concern for women joggers on trails.Injury and Accidents:Injuries can result from falls, uneven terrain, or lack of proper lighting on trails.A study published in the "Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness" in 2020 reported that female runners are more prone to certain injuries compared to their male counterparts.Safety Measures:Many women take precautions, such as running during daylight hours, informing someone about their route, and avoiding secluded trails. Some choose to run with a partner, carry personal safety devices, or take self-defense classes.Advancements in technology, such as GPS trackers and safety apps, have provided additional security options.Advocacy and Awareness:Women's advocacy groups and organizations have been pushing for increased safety measures on trails and in public spaces.Social media campaigns and awareness initiatives encourage dialogue about the issue and promote collective actionIn this episode we take a look at some of the other high profile murder cases that involve women jogging on trails.
