Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Compère Richard Cracknell, Actor Darren Hart and Billie T as defeat to Chelsea meant our battle against relegation will go right down to the final day after a 2-1 defeat to at Stamford Bridge means we failed to pick up the point we needed to all but guarantee Premier League safety. Going into the game at Stamford Bridge two points ahead of West Ham United and with a much better goal difference, we knew one draw from our final two matches against Chelsea and Everton would pretty much do the job, we discuss with the guys the phycological pressure going into the final day, playing at home, where we have only won two league games all season. We discuss our concerns of both where the goals are coming from, and the nature of how we are conceding goals from continuous individual errors. The panel also reflect on the bonkers moment towards the end of the game, where Cucurella dragged Micky van de Ven to the ground and was booked. Spurs were stunned not to get a penalty but referee Stuart Attwell claimed to have blown the whistle before Mathys Tel's corner was taken. Liam Delap was then booked for blatant elbow. James Maddison was livid and lambasted the referee immediately after the full time whistle, closely followed by Roberto De Zerbi who also wasn't happy. It lead us into the conversation as to whether we feel Spurs are being refereed differently to other teams this season. We close on Roberto De Zerbi's rallying cry where he stated ‘Sunday is the final for Tottenham. Not Bilbao against Manchester United. The most important game is Sunday. Now we play for something more than a trophy. This is for the pride of the club and its history.' We question whether De Zerbi can pull-off the great escape despite all the imitigating factors he has been up against since the second he accepted the Spurs job. We're back with another episode of I Had Trials Once and this time we're joined by former Huddersfield, QPR, Cardiff & Leicester goalkeeper Alex Smithies! Alex sits down with Gaz & Jord as he discusses his football career from playing for his boyhood club Huddersfield to training with Vardy & Maddison at Leicester. The lads start the pod talking about Alex's life post football with his career in finance and helping players manager their money and not fall into the same traps we often see in the media. They then talk in depth about his early career at Huddersfield, how he became a number one keeper at just 18 years old, signing his first big contract and scoring the winning penalty in a play-off final. The trio then chat about Alex's surprise move to QPR, Ian Holloway's bizarre coach carter training tactics, how he knew Eberechi Eze was a superstar from an early age and what made Ravel Morrison so good. Alex then speaks about his dream move to Cardiff with Neil Warnock and why he was gutted he never made his Premier League debut at the club as well as what it's like as a keeper when it comes to dropping clangers and how you can only get away with one. Alex continues with his decision to become a third choice goalkeeper at Leicester City in the Premier League, relationship with Jamie Vardy and why James Maddison wanted him to shout abuse at him in training sessions. Finally, he talks about how he recently fell out of love with football before ending the pod on the toughest player he's ever come up against.
Ricky Sacks is joined by Jonathan Hamme, David Harris and Gary Ward as Chelsea welcome Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday for a clash that could define the battle at the bottom of the Premier League. Roberto De Zerbi's side go into the final two games knowing that their destiny is under their own control. The panel reacts to the news that Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is available, but De Zerbi will make a decision on whether he or Antonin Kinsky will play on Tuesday, as we debate why Kinsky should keep his place in the team for the trip to Stamford Bridge. James Maddison "is not ready to play 90 minutes' and has not trained every day in the past week after having a small problem, however we discuss the lift he can give the squad should he have another cameo appearance. We finally close on the importance of ensuring we take something from Stamford Bridge in order to avoid the relegation battle rumbling into the final day of the campaign. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Billie T, George Achillea and Ian Lubin as the panel react to West Ham United's defeat to Newcastle United, meaning Tottenham needing just a draw from their final two games to avoid relegation from the Premier League. Spurs are two points above the Hammers and with a far superior goal-difference, are likely to stay up if they as long as they avoid defeat against just one of Chelsea or Everton. We discuss how Roberto De Zerbi has nearly masterminded the great-escape and why Tottenham Hotspur can never, ever afford to be in this position ever again in a severe warning to ENIC and The Lewis Family for the Club is being run both on and off the pitch. The panel discuss comments from former Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld who says it's been ‘painful' watching Tottenham Hotspur's battle to stay in the Premier League, a club that's he says should ‘not be fighting relegation' and would jump at the chance to go back to Spurs in a strategic role. Danny Rohl has confirmed that Rangers will work on re-signing Mikey Moore this summer, we discuss what the future holds for Moore and whether another loan would be beneficial to him at this stage of his development. We finally close on our thoughts going into Chelsea, Spurs have won just one solitary game in the Premier League era at that West London ground. It came in 2018 during the peak Mauricio Pochettino years, with Dele Alli scoring twice after Christian Eriksen's stunner from 25 yards had cancelled out Alvaro Morata's strike. We discuss the fitness of James Maddison, who has recorded five goal involvements in 13 games against Chelsea in the Premier League so he knows how to hurt the Blues. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Jason McGovern, Patrick Tyrant and Brendan McGerty as we discuss the state of play around Spurs' battle to survive in the Premier League. The panel react to fresh speculation that Micky Van De Ven is expected to stay at Tottenham Hotspur this summer should relegation be avoided, with Spurs not actively looking to sell and Van De Ven understood to be happy under Roberto De Zerbi. We refect on James Maddison claiming officials are “petrified” to make decisions after being denied a stoppage-time penalty against Leeds and whether we do genuinely feel there has been any kind of agenda against Spurs this season from referees. Daniel Levy has spoken out for the first time since leaving Tottenham, we react to his comments in which he says he is 'praying everyday' Spurs retain their Premier League status. We close on the news that Mayor Of London Sadiq Khan, has suggested to non-Spurs supporters that Tottenham being relegated would be in the best interests of Londoners, and what impact the wider footballing world is having on enjoying seeing us in the position we are in. Jack is joined by Gavin for a Thursday Q&A to dissect the frustrating fallout from Tottenham's clash with Leeds United. The pair kick things off by venting about the baffling VAR decision to deny James Maddison a clear foul, reacting to the midfielder's own frustrations posted on Instagram. We ask the broader question of whether the current implementation of VAR is fundamentally ruining the sport, before finding a much-needed silver lining in Maddison's return to the pitch. We discuss how, despite lacking full match fitness, his sheer step up in quality was glaringly obvious and ask if he is the missing piece required to secure safety. Attention then turns to the relegation battle and the absolutely monumental weekend clash between Newcastle United and West Ham. Jack asks Gavin just how heavily our survival hinges on that specific result, while trying to nail down exactly what Tottenham need to do to save themselves. Finally, Gavin tackles a massive selection of listener questions, covering everything from the Premier League's potential refereeing conspiracies to the depressing four-year anniversary of beating Arsenal 3-0, debating whether Roberto De Zerbi would actually stick around for a Championship rebuild, and guessing which underwhelming players we will inevitably be linked to if the worst happens. The whole Tottenham Way gang convene to analyse Spurs' 1-1 draw at home to Leeds in the Premier League. Host Marcus Buckland is joined by Tom Allnutt of The Times, Tom Barclay of The Sun and George Sessions of the Press Association as they discuss Antonin Kinsky's goalkeeping heroics, Mathys Tel's highs and lows, James Maddison's long-awaited return and how likely it is Spurs will stay up ahead of a nerve-shredding final two games. #tottenham #tottenhamhotspur #spurs #coys #thfc #football #premierleague #epl #leedsunited #lufc #antoninkinsky #mathystel #jamesmaddison #robertodezerbi #pressconference #podcast #newepisode #ttw #thetottenhamway #opinion #reaction #review #footballpodcast #sportspodcast Learn more about your ad choices. So we're not out of it. We're not in it either. Spurs 1-1 Leeds at home, another night that started with hope and ended with that same nervy feeling that's followed this team around all season. Mathys Tel gave us a goal worth the ticket price. A proper curler from the edge of the box, his fourth of the season, the kind of finish you actually remember. Then a few minutes later he flings a leg at a clearance, catches Ampadu in the face, and Calvert-Lewin levels from the spot. Two contrasting moments that pretty much sum up his year in N17. But the moment everyone will be talking about is James Maddison stepping back on a Premier League pitch for the first time in 368 days. Standing ovation. Twenty minutes including stoppage time. Sharp from the off, nearly won us a late penalty, looked like the player we've been missing all year. Whatever you think of where Spurs are right now, that moment lifted the roof. The bad news? One win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since December. Two points clear of West Ham with two games to play. Chelsea away on Tuesday. Everton at home on the final day. We're still above the line, but only just, and if West Ham win at Newcastle on Sunday we could be back in the bottom three before we even kick a ball at Stamford Bridge. De Zerbi wasn't happy with the officials. Kinsky was brilliant again. The fight goes on. Pull up a chair, get the kettle on. Full reaction, every angle, and the survival picture as it stands. Spurs missed the chance to open up a four point gap on West Ham this evening after one of the most shocking examples of officiating many of us will have ever seen took place. It felt like Spurs were in charge after Tel's wonder goal, but he went from hero to zero after his high boot in the box resulted in a penalty for Leeds and Spurs couldn't quite find a way back after that, despite James Maddison returning after more than a year away from the game. Jack is joined by football writer Sean Walsh for the Thursday Q&A to dissect yet another stressful week in the life of a Tottenham Hotspur fan. The pair kick things off by finding a silver lining in poor old Harry's Champions League elimination, noting the relief of being spared the nightmare scenario of watching him lose a European final to Arsenal. Confronting the grim reality of Arsenal actually reaching that final, Jack asks Sean if the all-consuming dread of a relegation scrap has completely numbed his ability to care about our rivals' success. The lads then debate just how far off Spurs are from replicating that level of squad building, before issuing a stark reality check: Tottenham are still in a highly perilous position, and a must-win clash against Leeds United awaits. The conversation then pivots to Roberto De Zerbi's latest press conference. We unpack his demand to sign Joao Palhinha permanently, his glowing endorsement of Archie Gray as a future club captain, and his concerning updates on the fitness of both Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison ahead of the Leeds game. Finally, Sean tackles a brilliant selection of your listener questions. We explore whether Tottenham Hotspur is simply an experiment in cosmic injustice and question if the mainstream media let ENIC entirely off the hook for this disastrous campaign. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Jonathan Hammé, Gary Ward and TJ Ramini as we discuss the do or die for Tottenham in their battle to stay in the Premier League, and they have another must-win game on their hands this weekend when they take on Wolves. We discuss the sheer size of the game and task at hand for Tottenham, the team news in which Roberto De Zerbi confirmed Spurs will be without Destiny Udogie, Guglielmo Vicario and Pape Matar Sarr for Saturday's game against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Head coach Roberto De Zerbi also confirmed that James Maddison will be included in the squad but is unlikely to feature. The panel also discussed the news that Sebastian Kehl is now the leading candidate for a role as Tottenham's new director. Spurs' board want him to rebuild the team alongside Johan Lange. Kehl's career as a top player, his management skills and his extensive international network are highly valued within the club and during the conversations. We also touch-upon the news that Marcos Senesi have reached an agreement in principle. With the 28-year old top centre-back giving his commitment to join Spurs on a free transfer in the summer, if Tottenham stay in the Premier League. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by David Harris, Ian Lubin and TJ Ramini as the third managerial era of the 2025/26 Tottenham Hotspur season is about to commence, as Roberto De Zerbi makes his second Premier League debut on Sunday, away to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. We discuss Roberto De Zerbi's first pre-match press conference in which he boldly states he knows his first mission is to keep Tottenham in the Premier League but believes the club has everything to challenge for the title in the future. We also reflect on a week which has seen Mohammed Kudus could miss the rest of the season in a major blow to new Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi. Kudus has been out since the start of January with a quad injury, but had begun to ease his way back into training before the international break. Kudus had not missed a single game through injury for West Ham but could potentially miss half of his first season at their north London rivals. It was hoped he would be in contention to face Sunderland this weekend in De Zerbi's first game in charge. However, Spurs have confirmed that Kudus could be set to undergo surgery, ruling him out of Spurs' final seven games of the season and casting his World Cup hopes with Ghana into doubt. We debate the icompetence shown by current Sporting Director Johan Lange in which Spurs had the chance to reinforce their squad in the January transfer window, despite the difficulties involved in that market, but only brought through the door a midfielder in Conor Gallagher and 19-year-old left-back Souza, while selling last season's top scorer Brennan Johnson just days before Kudus first suffered his serious quad injury. Unfortunately, of the long-term players out when Lange made those comments ahead of the trip to face Manchester United in early February, Kudus, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur and Ben Davies all remain side-lined two months later and were added to a week after by Wilson Odobert. Therefore once again raising concern over the medical rehabilitation of players. The panel also reflect news that Tottenham Hotspur are in pole position to sign Andy Robertson as a free agent this summer, subject to retaining their Premier League status and a price has been set for reported goalkeeper target James Trafford. We finally close on our thoughts of Sunderland, given the fact that The Black Cats are running the risk of losing four straight home league games for the first time since September 2017 in the Championship, and their shoddy Stadium of Light sequence has contributed to their bottom-half ranking in the Premier League table, although they are still within touching distance of seventh-placed Brentford at the time of writing. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Billie T, David Harris and Ian Lubin as we preview Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest, argubaly one of the club's biggest home games in modern history in the fight to retain our top-flight status. We discuss the headline news that Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario will undergo hernia surgery after Sunday's game against Nottingham Forest, with his potential absence opening the door for Antonin Kinsky to return following his Atletico Madrid horror show. In more positive news Joao Palhinha is back in the frame after missing our last two matches following his clash of heads with Cristian Romero in the first leg of our Champions League tie with Atletico Madrid earlier this month. Igor Tudor also expects Dominic Solanke to be available after the striker missed Wednesday's return match against Atletico at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over a small problem. There is also hope for both James Maddison to still play a part in Spurs' season and also Mohammed Kudus to return to training after the International break. Finally this week we have seen an incredible show of unity and support from across our fanbase, driven by the clear message that we are all together, always. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by George Achillea, Connor and Ash as Tottenham announced their squad for the 2025/26 Champions League league phase. Manager Thomas Frank left out six big names for the club's latest European campaign. Spurs' 25-man squad for their return to Europe's elite club competition doesn't feature Kota Takai, Radu Dragusin, Yves Bissouma, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski or Mathys Tel. The omission of England international Maddison, 28, comes as no surprise. The midfielder suffered a potentially season-ending knee injury in the club's pre-season friendly against Newcastle in August. Summer signing Takai is also in the treatment room with a plantar fascia injury, and his return date is currently unknown. Tom Barclay of The Sun and George Sessions of the Press Association discuss Spurs' humbling friendly defeat to Harry Kane's Bayern Munich, Son Heung-min's exit, James Maddison's injury and what next for transfers ahead of PSG in the Super Cup.
There's a reason we left this one until near the end... a week ago all seemed positive at Tottenham Hotspur, a win against rivals Arsenal, but a week on and James Maddison has picked up an ACL injury, others such as Destiny Udogie and Dominic Solanke, who were meant to be back still aren't, and last night Bayern Munich handed Thomas Frank's boys a bit if a football lesson. Ricky Saunders joins James to discuss what that means for Fantasy ahead of an enticing set of fixtures. Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero and Micky Van De Ven all still appeal at different price points and parts of the FPL community want one of Brennan Johnson or Mohammed Kudus. But might a cheaper alternative step up in the opening weeks of the season? Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Richard Cracknell, Jaon McGovern and Marlon as our visit to Asia ended in in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United on an emotional evening for skipper Heung-Min Son, appearing in his hometown just a day after announcing his intention to leave the Club. Following Thursday's defeat of Arsenal in Hong Kong, we rounded off this year's pre-season tour with a competitive clash against the Magpies in Seoul, South Korea, with Brennan Johnson's early goal cancelled out by Harvey Barnes in the Coupang Play Series. Following his announcement on Saturday, Son was selected to start by new Head Coach Thomas Frank and wore the armband at a venue he knows so well as captain of his country, with his substitution from the pitch in the 64th minute a poignant moment. Unfortunately though, James Maddison left the pitch on a stretcher in the closing stages after pulling up with no-one around him, clearly in distress. Spurs also announced the signing of João Palhinha on loan from FC Bayern, subject to international clearance and work permit. The 30-year-old Portugal international joins the Club on loan until the end of the 2025/26 season with an option to make the move permanent next summer. It's a Europa League Final Clash of the Correspondents as James is joined by Tottenham fan Ricky Saunders and Manchester United fan Gary Robinson to discuss the season's two biggest disappointments, yet one is about to claim glory! United will be favourites, is that right? What would victory mean? There's discussion on tactics, if Heung-Min Son may end up as Tottenham's number 10 option in the absence of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski, and if United could play without a recognised striker. And at what point does Ruben Amorim find himself under pressure if it goes wrong for United? And can victory even save Ange Postecoglu? EXCLUSIVE - NordVPN Deal ➼ https://nordvpn.com/lwos Try it risk-free now with a 30-day money-back guarantee! Host Richard Cracknell is joined by Actors Darren Hart, TJ Ramini alongside Marlon via Spurs Kings TV as Tottenham took a big step towards the Europa League final with a deserved first-leg win over Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt - but a late goal just leaves a little window of doubt. It was one of Spurs' best performances of a wretched season domestically and leaves them two games away from a first trophy since 2008. Ange Postecoglou's side took only 38 seconds to open the scoring as Brennan Johnson headed in from Richarlison's nod down. James Maddison doubled the lead when he brilliantly took down Pedro Porro's long ball before squeezing the ball into the bottom corner. Dominic Solanke rolled in a nonchalant penalty for 3-0 after Cristian Romero was fouled. Bodo/Glimt have made headlines in recent times for an intense style of football that has led to impressive results - but they were outplayed until Ulrik Saltnes' effort flew into the top corner via a deflection off Rodrigo Bentancur. That was their only shot on target. To get the best discount off your NordVPN plan - go to nordvpn.com/lwos - our link will also give you 4 extra months on the 2-year plan.
