It's a hilarious and heartfelt Chit Chat Wednesday as Jared Freid sits down with comedian Eric Neumann, fresh off the release of his brand-new YouTube special, Almost Engaged. Together, they dive deep into the emotional rollercoaster of love, heartbreak, and the comedy that comes from it all.Eric opens up about his not-quite engagement and the real-life relationship that inspired the special, including his brother's chaotic divorce and the now-infamous couch painting that came with it. The two comics explore the tricky process of turning personal pain into punchlines, the healing power of yoga, and why post-breakup dating is its own kind of trauma response. Jared shares his experiences with joke-building after a breakup, the moments that still make him cringe (including the coffee bit that got him on The Tonight Show), and how to know when it's time to let go of material and people. From the origin story of “Napkin Neumann” at the Comedy Cellar to a deep discussion on vulnerability, timing, and growing past heartbreak, this episode is packed with honesty, laughter, and insight into how comedians turn real-life chaos into cathartic comedy.Support the podcast by supporting our sponsors!Get 10% off your Hero Bread order with the code JTRAIN at https://www.hero.co

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of my all time favorite movies, and I believe its mytho and psychological significance can provide insight into the current predicament we face in America today, culturally and politically. By interpreting the film through The Golden Bough, Jung, Eric Neumann, and Greek Mythology, we hope to provide a deeper understanding of the imagery of American horror. Orphan comedians, Amber Rollo and Chanel Ali, have a guest on each week to talk about it and laugh at some supremely dark stuff. Listen to their stories from the luxury of your parent's guest room, while lamenting how hard it is to not have a struggle. Remember, we are proud of you. In this episode Amber and Chanel talk with comedian Eric Neumann about his father passing when he was twenty and his overbearing-but-warm mother. He's very funny and would make a great stepfather. Go see his album recording "Nervous Lover" at Comic Strip Live March 22nd - 23rd. Eric Neumann and Marc Gerber join Kate and they talk about how first impressions aren't always what they seem, so it's important to not be so quick to judge. They also get into their personal thoughts about religion, and how anything can be scary when the rules are too tight. Eric then describes why he chose the title "Nervous Lover" for his comedy album, and they discuss how so many of us get nervous when it's the first time you make out with or have sex with a person.
