Extrait : « … Scottish singer/songwriter Finley Quaye's debut album Maverick A Strike has a wide range of genres. Everything from psychedelia, to soul, R&B, and reggae. This eclectic variety can be polarizing. It can take the listener a while to catch on to the flow of the album, but by the time you get the final track, you're fully engaged.Listen to the album here: https://open.spotify.com/album/6CBOvGgpmCOUz42VseThUfWebsite: https://www.polyphonicpress.comContact: polyphonicpressmusic@gmail.comSupport: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/polyphonicpressSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/polyphonic-press1229/donations
This half is quite surreal - even for us!! Also a regular "F" Bomb ot 15 are dropped even more than normalSo - Jack tells us about a dream where he became Luton Town Assistant Manager for 15 minutes, Sean gets lost trying to find the Coventry City stadium but winds up at the training ground because of a disobedient sat nav, Ian Bacon and John Parslow end up chatting with each other about “Cofundus Charms” whilst Pete tries to put 50p in the twitter meter! Blue Cheese Brett joins us and compares Chris Wilder a friend of his who was robbed by Finley Quaye whilst under the influence – we didn't understand it then, we've thought about it and we still don't have a clue – but apparently that's progress. Ant joins us with his unique combination of theme music, swearing and enthusiasm for Ellie's weight loss twitter sharing and then explains about his work/holiday booking arrangements for Watford games before surprising Pete with a question and a dose of positivity that John Parslow would be proud of!! Finally your 5 word and long form match reviews – you are all brilliant thanks so much! This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not ScratchYour Eyes. As broadcast June 10, 2022 with plenty of laughs in memory for our stream experience. Tonight we welcomed Dutch Canada-based singer-songwriter Nurdana De Rijcke to the show to talk about her new EP "Coming Home," which drops on Tuesday. Inspired and written by her dearly departed father Rob, Nurdjana took these songs and put her own imprint on them to both pay tribute and bring closure to the process of loss. Despite the background of loss, this two hour show is certainly a summery celebration of music, with Nurdjana bringing her favorites to the forefront in a playlist of inspirations to her soulful sound.#feelthegravityTracklisting:Part I (00:00)Gnarls Barkley – CrazyKobo Town – London TownJupiter & Okwess – Na KozongaCymande - BraFinley Quaye – Sunday ShiningThe Roots – The Seed 2.0 Part II (31:49)Alogte Oho & His Sounds of Joy – Yu Ya YummaQuadron – Slippin'Kendra Morris – This LifeBetty Harris – There's A Break In The RoadLyn Collins – Take Me Just As I AmMarijata – No Condition Is Permanent Part III (61:34)Nurdjana – Do The Right ThingStevie Wonder – Higher GroundAretha Franklin – Save MeLake Street Dive – Good KisserSharon Jones & The Dap-Kings – How Do I Let A Good Man Down?Jamie Lidell – Another Day Part IV (94:29)Nurdjana – She Gives Me WaterMadcon – Beggin'John Legend – Save RoomJoss Stone – Put Your Hands On MeAmy Winehouse – Back To BlackMayer Hawthorne – A Long Time

On this episode of Nineteen Ninety What, we are back to basics! The year in question is 1998, and we are looking at the Alternative Songs Chart. And, yeah. There are a lot of forgotten one "hit" wonders tonight. But before we get to those, the sorting hat has it's way with us. We pull two movies and one video game from '98. Small Soldiers and Half Baked are 2 very different movies, and we talk about the things that made them great. Also, we vaguely remember Metal Gear Solid. They can't all be winners, and at least this proves that we don't pad the sorting hat, right? Right?!? When we get to the chart, We do hear from some familiar voices, like Oasis, Pearl Jam and Bush, but there are also a ton of no-name artists that we've never heard from before and will probably never hear again: Big Wreck, Finley Quaye, Huffamoose, God Lives Underwater, and Cornershop. Plus we get to talk about the ska and swing revivals that brought horns to 1998 in a big way. All that Shimmers in this world is sure to fade away again. Ladies and Gentlemen so excited to step things up with Keith Cooper on the Podcast. Keith managed the Brit Award winning Finley Quaye when the multi platinum selling album 'Maverick A Strike' was released which had multiple hit singles on it including 'Sunday Shining' and 'Even After All'. He also managed Cut Chemist from Jurassic 5, legendary Drum n Bass Producer Aphrodite which meant bringing us the era defining 'Aphrodite' album, as well as Ian Brown of the Stone Roses. Furthermore, he managed the Multi Platinum selling Stereo MCs for over 13 years seeing them through record breaking sales and 2 Brit Awards, and huge tours. Then on top of that he also managed PM Dawn again Multi Platinum sales and Brit Awards. Then also for management there was also the Jungle Brothers, Just Jack, Scribz Riley, Aaradhna & Joe Fox. Truth & Soul are currently a producer duo who he is excited to be managing who have co written tracks for Adele on her multi platinum selling album, and is also responsible for Aloe Blacc & music supervision & production on Red Dead Redemption. If this was not enough he also ran a publishing company that held/hold the worldwide rights for publishing of material by Finlay Quaye, Jurassic 5, Aphrodite, Ian Brown, Just Jack, Truth & Soul and Adele. On top of this Keith is now a qualified Psychotherapist, having completed an MA in Psychotherapy, he has a private practice as well as continuing management and publishing in music. This was a gripping conversation where we really went under the hood and spoke about human behaviour in the music industry. I also ended up exposing some of my recent behaviour and ended up having some counselling from Keith and we deconstruct where those behaviours were coming from. I think this conversation is a gift to any aspiring musician, pro musician or aspiring or music industry pro. Remember if you like the podcast please leave a review and share it to a close friend who you know will like it. These kind of conversations are a gift to get an insider view from experienced people who have made mistakes and suffered, so that you can avoid those stresses and strains. Also to help you if you are feeling the struggle. Please SHARE to a friend and help the conversation go to the people that need to hear this!
