Ford Motor Company doesn't see the all-new 2025 Ford Expedition as just another big SUV. It has a larger purpose in mind. Expedition Brand Manager Luis Perez told AOTR Host Jack Nerad that Ford wants to influence American families to spend more quality time together. So, they have created a massive vehicle that is full of innovation and capability. Nerad was part of a small cadre of journalists who got early access to the 2025 Expedition and its executives, engineers, and product planners. In this episode, we will share his in-depth interview with Perez, giving you uncommon insight into the creation of the new Expedition and the intriguing features that set it apart from other large SUVs. Our road test segment this week gives you a double dose of Toyota. Co-host Chris Teague was at the wheel of the 2025 Toyota Camry XSE AWD. Toyota has gone all-hybrid with the Camry in this all-new iteration of one of America's most popular vehicles, and Teague will provide his verdict on the result. At the same time Teague was driving the all-new Camry at one end of the country, Jack Nerad was driving the all-new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser at the other. The legendary Toyota Land Cruiser returns after a hiatus in a more compact version that is the original 1958 model that introduced the model to the U.S. Of course, the '58 Land Cruiser didn't sport a hybrid powertrain, a variety of electronic driver assistance technology and a sophisticated infotainment system, but, as they say, the more things stay the same, the more they change. What has stayed the same is the Land Cruiser's stout all-terrain prowess. Pricing for the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser starts with the 1958 trim at a base manufacturer's suggested retail price of $55,950, and that's the model Nerad tested. It features retro-styled round headlights and TOYOTA spelled out on its throwback grille. Cloth seats and the eight-inch touchscreen indicate its modest aspirations and desire to keep the price accessible if you can call $56K accessible. Teague and Nerad will share more thoughts on the model. Car buyers could be hitting a double-whammy this weekend as a couple of factors combine to make buying a new car even harder. The hurricane and the recently settled longshoremen's strike have combined to throw a wrench into car buying. We'll give you strategies that can help you get the best deal you can. Also in the news, hydrogen fuel cell technology is getting a second look, and we'll tell you which major global automaker might put more money into the technology as a solution to battery-electric vehicle's continued issues. A busy weekend of racing as it all kicked off with go karts at Bartlett Friday Night. Charlie raced at Oxford Saturday while Bobby and Brad streamed multiple races from home. The latest-generation Toyota Tundra is a popular full-size pickup. While its 5.7-liter V8 didn't carry over to the new generation, a turbocharged 3.4-liter V6, and a turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 hybrid take its spot. The top-flight hybrid powertrain shoves 479 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque through a 10-speed automatic. This truck also comes with a large touchscreen media system, comfortable seating, tech, and ride quality you'd expect from a full-size sedan.  Carrying the lower-priced load for Lexus, the ES 300h might not be as exciting as the company's LC500, but it fills an important, mid-size role. In 300h trim, this hybrid people mover packs a 2.5-liter I4 under the hood that works with an eCVT to make 215 combined system hp. This hybrid sedan might not hustle from stoplight to stoplight, but it also manages over 44 mpg combined. On this episode of Talking Cars with the Boss, Natalie Neff and Wesley Wren chat about these two vehicles and the evolving passenger car space. The pair breaks down how trucks have changed roles in the marketplace, and how mid-size sedans are losing some ground to crossovers, SUVs, and trucks. Today, we dive into the history of the band with some of the hands at its headquarters in Ft. Payne, Alabama, around which all three founding members -- Gentry, lead vocalist Randy Owen, and the late guitarist Jeff Cook -- all grew up and kept ties to over all the years of chart-toppers, touring, and all the trucking involved with the operation. It was good for the band, too, recalled Teddy Gentry, leading to Alabama featuring in the driver-tribute show year after year at the Mid-America Trucking Show through the late 1980s up through an official farewell tour in the early 2000s. For Josh Gentry, his father felt, trucking with the band and family is like “a dream come true” in some ways. Josh's own words underscore that, to an extent, reflecting during our run in the single 2021 Kenworth T680 that powers the Alabama-controlled portion of the tour today that, like so many an owner-operator and driver the nation over, he takes pride in doing what he does. Thursday, July 18, would be a short day of work for operator Josh Gentry, starting at a leisurely 10 a.m. in Fort Payne, Alabama, outside the Quality Inn in town. There, Gentry met Overdrive Radio host Todd Dills to get rolling, the pair starting the day in Gentry's Chevrolet en route to the site of an old auto dealership in town that, since the mid-1980s, has been the home base of the fan club for longtime country-rock group Alabama. It's also home base for the group's tour truck, in which Gentry was about to set out on a run. Josh Gentry is son of one of the last two founding members in the band, bassist and harmony singer Teddy Gentry. Josh, after years pursuing music himself, then hauling grain around his home region (some of those years as an owner-operator), today serves as hauler of Alabama's touring operation, moved in a single truck and 48-foot Great Dane show trailer emblazoned with the band's insignia and the "Roll On II North America Tour" logo. That truck, a 2021 Kenworth T680 detailed in this week's podcast, rekindles an old partnership between the Alabama group and the Kenworth company, dormant after an official farewell tour in the early part of this century. By 11 a.m. Thursday last week he and Dills were pulling out with a lightly loaded trailer toward the Soundcheck facility's docks to pick up more gear situated a very-short haul across the river from downtown. As the truck and trailer merged onto I-59 toward Chattanooga from Ft. Payne that morning, just as Dills readying his audio recorder for the talk with Gentry, a voice came over the radio -- "Roll on, Alabama!" -- invoking the classic trucking song. Gentry called tour manager Jeff Davis to mark the moment and give him an update on progress toward Nashville for load and staging. Yet the over-the-air atta-boy wasn't the very first bit of attention the wrapped truck and trailer have gotten over going on two years Gentry's been guiding the tour, taking him as far as, most recently, North Dakota and into Manitoba and elsewhere in Canada. Check out today's questions:    Matt: My Daughter, age 8 has a history of always having aches and pains growing up - leg pain, knee pain, has had transient synovitis in her hip x 2 - often times has to sit down or rest when every other child is playing and running around without an issue - every test she has ever had done as been negative - multiple lymes tests, spine XRAY,, femur/tibia XRAY, blood work multiple times. She recently came up low on Vit D with a level of 21.0 ng/ml (currently supplementing) - all aches and pains attributed to growing pains since no cause was found (she has always been tallest in her class - 90 % and up in height generally). since October of 2022 she has been sick off/on - pattern of congestion, followed by headache/looking pale and then fever that lasts 2-3 days. Where do you suggest we start??   Kim: I've been looking at the things you have on pintrest and I have to tell you personally I think the tongue is a forgotten part of the body! I'm experiencing some symptoms and wanted to figure out how your program works   Summer: Hi Dr. Cabral! Thank you for all that you do and share with everyone searching for answers! Several years ago my brother was doing Wim Hof exercises and heard a pop in his left temple followed by sharp and pressure type pain in that area for days to weeks. He was told by a chiropractor that it is a sinus issue. We are skeptical of this because there are no sinuses near the temple area… since then, he has had similar episodes but no popping sound. He feels like there is pressure in the vein that runs across the temple. He ends up with that same sharp pressurized pain every time and takes weeks to heal. The pain is worsened by any exertion, singing, raising his voice, bending over, breathing exercises, etc. Any ideas what this could be? He lives a healthy plant based lifestyle. Thanks!!   Cathy: I have listened to your podcast on toxic cookware and safe cookware. I am still not entirely clear on guidance for popular items like Staub, which you did not mention specifically. Staub is an enamel coated cast item and I have reached out to the Company who claims they have tested for their interior being lead/cadmium free. Should I be concerned with the outside testing positive for either of those? Lots of online "experts" claiming this can rub off on the interior when pans are stored/washed.
