After Bam Adebayo's historic night, the guys look at where it ranks all-time as he joins Wilt Chamberlain and Kobe Bryant among the top single-game scoring performances in NBA history. The conversation shifts to NFL news, including the New York Jets bringing back Geno Smith and the New England Patriots reloading with additions like Romeo Doubs and Alijah Vera-Tucker. Joe also breaks down the remaining quarterback market, the teams still searching for a starter, and the uncertainty surrounding Aaron Rodgers and whether he'll return or retire. Plus, more discussion on the Miami Dolphins after signing Malik Willis as the potential franchise QB, why the team is leaning on young players and draft picks, and why there's still plenty of frustration among Dolphins fans after 25 years without a playoff win — along with a few jokes about whether Chamberlain's famous 100-point game really happened since it was never televised.
Arcand debates what the Patriots' next move should be after bringing in Romeo Doubs and Alijah Vera-Tucker. Callers give their takes on the team's recent action.
Romeo Doubs' brings great versatility to the Patriots' offense. Morgan Moses has high praise for Alijah Vera-Tucker. Mike D'Abate believes Doubs will be able to replace Stefon Diggs' production.
Arcand shares his initial reactions to the Romeo Doubs and Alijah Vera-Tucker signings. Can Doubs replace Stefon Diggs production? Is another receiver signing or trade likely?

JT also highlights the biggest steals from Day 2 of NFL free agency including Devin Lloyd to the Panthers, Nashon Wright to the Jets, Alijah Vera-Tucker to the Patriots, Asante Samuel Jr returning to the Steelers, and Braden Smith signing with the Texans. We also wrap up with the latest headlines on Dak Prescott's recent breakup and dive into a candid conversation about the reality of prenups: are they a cynical move or just a necessary part of modern marriage?
Day 2 of NFL Free Agency Delivers Chaos Day two of NFL free agency somehow managed to get even crazier than day one, highlighted by the shocking news that Maxx Crosby failed his physical after being traded to the Baltimore Ravens, throwing the entire move into chaos and leaving Baltimore scrambling after already losing multiple key players. On this episode of The JV Show, JV is joined by Chase Coburn from Chase Sports News to break down everything from the Crosby disaster to major signings across the league. They discuss moves like Tariq Woolen heading to the Philadelphia Eagles, Rashid Shaheed re-signing with the Seattle Seahawks, and the New England Patriots adding Romeo Doubs and Alijah Vera-Tucker to help build around Drake Maye. The episode also dives into the Tennessee Titans aggressively rebuilding around Cam Ward, the Pittsburgh Steelers quietly stacking talent without solving their quarterback problem, and the controversial move of Tua Tagovailoa landing with the Atlanta Falcons. With huge contracts, surprise signings, and teams scrambling to reshape their rosters, day two proved that this free agency period is far from slowing down.Timestamps: 0:00 - Introduction 1:21 - Maxx Crosby trade DECLINED6:20 - Tariq Woolen (PHI)9:28 - Rashid Shaheed (SEA)13:10 - AVT & Doubs (NE)18:39 - Wan'Dale Robinson + More (TEN)23:14 - Isaiah Likely + More (NYG)27:58 - Rico Dowdle + More (PIT)33:03 - Tua Tagoviola (ATL)

Jets fans got tough news when Alijah Vera-Tucker left for the New England Patriots, and Evan explains why this one hurts. After years of injuries and frustration, Vera-Tucker finally moves on from the New York Jets, but seeing him land with a division rival makes it even worse. Evan and Tiki break down why the breakup may have been inevitable, whether the Jets did enough to try to keep him, and why the fear now is that Vera-Tucker finally stays healthy and thrives somewhere else. Plus, the conversation expands to the Jets' offensive line outlook, the shrinking quarterback market, and why Jets fans are bracing themselves for whatever comes next in free agency.

Plus, another edition of Posted and Toasted brings back some old takes from the internet, and Evan shares a hilarious and awkward spring training encounter with former Mets owner Fred Wilpon that somehow involved a half-eaten sandwich.

The 2026 NFL offseason is officially the "Year of the Protector." The guys bounce from 19th-century presidential conspiracies to the grim reality of the New York Jets' quarterback carousel. After debating whether modern society would actually care if a massive Abraham Lincoln assassination cover-up dropped today (and taking a quick detour into the FCC's rules on cursing inspired by George Carlin), it's back to the gridiron. The crew brutally assesses Zach Wilson's extinct NFL future, comparing his trajectory to Sam Darnold's redemption arc, and debates where a newly released Geno Smith fits into the backup QB landscape. Finally, they highlight the biggest under-the-radar offseason priority in New York: why re-signing offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker is an absolute must, regardless of his injury history or projected $14 million market value.
In this jam-packed segment, we kick things off with the return of Mets and Yankees baseball, breaking down the actual storylines of spring training—from top prospects like Carson Benge to the MLB's new Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) challenge system. We explain why the TV strike zone box is disappearing and how the new challenge rules will impact players and fans alike. Switching gears to the gridiron, we debate the Jets' quarterback options, detailing why Zach Wilson is universally crossed off the free-agent list and why Geno Smith might actually be a viable backup option. Then, we make an impassioned plea regarding the one Jets free agent no one is talking about: Alijah Vera-Tucker. To top it all off, we take a hilarious detour into historical hypotheticals, asking the ultimate pop-culture question: if we found out Mary Todd Lincoln was behind Abe's assassination, would anyone with today's short attention spans actually care?
In this episode, we review a few of the Jets' options at quarterback on the veteran market. Also, are we expecting the returns of Alijah Vera-Tucker, John Simpson? That, and much more. If you've enjoyed episode, make sure to leave a positive rating if you're listening on Apple. Enjoy!
On Sunday, October 26, the winless New York Jets (0-7) invade Paycor Stadium to face the Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) in a Week 8 AFC showdown that screams opportunity—and desperation. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET on CBS, with Cincinnati favored by 6.5 points and an over/under of 44, per BetMGM odds. For the Jets, mired in last place in the AFC East and on pace for the No. 1 overall draft pick, this is a must-win to salvage their season under new coach Aaron Glenn. Their offense ranks a dismal 31st in total yards (284.1 per game), plagued by quarterback woes with Justin Fields struggling mightily—netting just minus-10 passing yards in a recent loss to Denver. Yet, New York's defense has been a revelation lately, surrendering just 13 points in back-to-back shutouts against Denver and Carolina, making them a sneaky cover candidate. Running back Breece Hall remains a bright spot, but the Jets' injury-riddled line—key pieces like Alijah Vera-Tucker (triceps, IR) and Israel Abanikanda (shoulder, IR)—leaves them vulnerable to Cincinnati's front seven. The Bengals, clinging to second in the AFC North behind the 4-2 Steelers, are riding high after a thrilling 33-31 Thursday night upset over Pittsburgh—their first win in four tries. Veteran Joe Flacco, freshly acquired and slotted as starter over Jake Browning, orchestrated the victory with poise, tossing TDs to Tee Higgins (96 yards, score) and Ja'Marr Chase, who etched his name in history with 6,000 career receiving yards and 50 TDs in just five seasons. Chase Brown erupted for 108 rushing yards, fueling a ground game ranked fifth league-wide (135.7 ypg). But short rest from Thursday could breed fatigue, and Cincinnati's defense, leaky at 30.6 points allowed per game, must contain Hall to avoid a trap. Key absences include TE Mike Gesicki (pectoral, IR until Week 12) and OT Cordell Volson (shoulder, IR), testing depth against the Jets' stout secondary. DE Trey Hendrickson (hip) is questionable but logged limited practice, offering hope for a pass rush boost. Analysts give Cincinnati a 74% win probability, but the Jets' defensive grit could grind out a low-scoring affair. Expect Flacco to lean on Chase early, while New York's secondary forces turnovers. In a matchup pitting Jets' resolve against Bengals' firepower, Cincinnati should prevail 27-17, inching toward playoff contention while dooming New York deeper into despair. Hour 1 We get NFL football tonight as the Cowboys play the Eagles. The Giants open with Washington and then play the Cowboys and Gio said they have to win one of those games as they can't start the season 0-2 with two losses in the division. The NFC East could be a top division if the Giants figure out how to get some wins. We wondered how soon Brian Daboll would try to get Jaxson Dart into games. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with a preview of Cowboys/Eagles. Jerry is doing the game on radio with Brian Baldinger, who's in the NFL's ‘mangled hand' club. The Yankees lost in Houston as Devin Williams walked in a run and Doval balked in a run and then threw a wild pitch that brought in a run. Helsley had another rough outing in relief as the Mets lost to the Tigers. Pablo Torre talked about uncovering the Kawhi Leonard situation with the Clippers and circumventing the salary cap. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about the Ryder Cup which starts later this month at Bethpage Black. Hour 2 The Mets took 2-of-3 in Detroit but left with a bad taste in their mouth with another bad bullpen performance by Helsley. This is what happens when starting pitching can't go five innings. They may ask Kodai Senga to go to the minors for a few starts but he would have to approve that. We also talked more about what type of Long Island crowd we're going to get at the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. A guy calls in who has a business where he collects golf balls at Bethpage at night. Jerry returns for an update, but first he wonders how the volleyball girls on TV right now can afford to get to Bangkok. Jerry Jones was on Good Morning America talking about being a great salesman. Al Dukes is not happy with commercials on Red Zone this season. The Yankees lost in Houston and the home plate umpire was brutal. Helsley talked about his recent performances not being so great. In the final segment of the hour, Gio tells the tragic story of someone local who passed away. Hour 3 Al Dukes did a poll asking if you can watch an NFL game without betting on it, having a drink of alcohol during it or scrolling on your phone. We also talked more about the Red Zone channel having commercials and how much playing time is in an actual NFL game. Dan in Carteret calls about Boomer breaking Imus' record this coming March and Jazz Chisholm predicting a Yankees World Series win. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the called third strike on Jazz that ended the game. He was not happy with the call. The home plate ump had a rough night. The Mets had a rough day in Detroit, especially Helsley in relief. Russell Wilson said mindset is everything for the Giants. Boomer said the Commanders should run right at Abdul Carter to see if he can run-defend. Roger Goodell was on the Today Show and said it's a ‘maybe' as far as Taylor Swift playing at the Super Bowl. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer is getting a lot of requests for interviews now that football season is upon us. Hour 4 Is Andrew Thomas going to play for the Giants this Sunday against the Commanders? We also talked about the season ending injury to Alijah Vera-Tucker of the Jets. Both teams tried to build up their offensive lines. Boomer tells a story about teaching kids in Italy how to play football back in the late 80's. Jerry returns for his final update of the day, but first Boomer told us how difficult it was to shower in Italy in 1987. On PTI, Tony Kornheiser compared Nolan McLean to Tom Seaver, just like Boomer did. The Yankees lost in Houston as Devin Williams walked in a run. Max Fried pitched well against Houston last night. We also talked about Astros pitcher Framber Valdez purposely crossing up his catcher and hitting him in the chest with a fastball. Jerry is here for his first update of the day, but first Boomer compared McLean to Tom Seaver, so that's where we're at this morning. The Tigers' broadcasters seemed very impressed with his pitching. The Yankees won in Houston with a Trent Grisham grand slam. In the final segment of the hour, the Giants have listed Jaxson Dart as the backup quarterback to Russell Wilson instead of having Jameis Winston as the number two. Boomer likes the move. We also talked about Andrew Thomas' injury. Hour 2 Rich Cimini tweeted that Vivid Seats claims there will be 48% Steelers fans at the Jets home opener on Sunday. Gio thinks that's a bad look for the opening game. Steelers fans do travel well, but almost half the stadium? A caller said Evan Roberts sold his Jets tix for the Steelers game. Callers said they sell their tickets because MetLife is the worst stadium in the NFL. Jerry returns for an update and compares Al Dukes to Adam Schein in their takes on the upcoming Bills season. BT and Sal reacted with predictable anguish to the news that Alijah Vera-Tucker will miss significant time with a serious arm injury, a bombshell dropped just before the start of the season. The hosts discussed how this injury, to a key player on what was supposed to be the team's strength—the offensive line—takes all the "juice" and excitement out of the season. While BT noted it's not as catastrophic as the Aaron Rodgers injury, he lamented the Jets' perpetual "same old Jets" luck and the razor-thin margin for error they now face. The hosts expressed frustration that a team with aspirations of running the ball and being a physical force is now hobbled before they even play a single down.
