Featuring: Ammosart, Ashgar, Belghast, Kodra, Tamrielo, and Thalen   Hey Folks! We are all reeling a bit from the past week, but we start off things with the joyful return of Ammo from her trip to Japan.  She spends a bit of time talking about all the arcade hopping and wonderful food that she found along the way. From there we dive into the furious growth of Pokemon TCG Pocket and how it has swept through our friend group.  Ash talks about his experiences with Monster Hunter Wilds Beta and Bel shares his own comfort gaming in the form of the weird Path of Exile Necro Settlers Event League.  Bel also talks a bit about playing the Brighter Shores Early Access, and how it has some core design problems that will keep him from playing for very long.  Kodra talks a bit about GeekGirlCon where we realize…  that he has in fact been talking about it every year since the very first year in 2016.  Our podcast…  is old.  He also talks a bit about his role in the upcoming SudokuCon Stream and some of the nonsense he is going to be doing combining two of his loves: Sudoku, and Celeste.   Topics Discussed: Ammo Returns from Japan Pokemon TCG Pocket Monster Hunter Wilds Beta Path of Exile POE2 Delay Necro Settlers League Brighter Shores Early Access GeekGirlCon 2024 SudokuCon Upcoming Stream

This was the second year that Rebecca has had a booth at GGC, increasing the floor space of the company's representation to not only show of the new titles in their portfolio (including new titles debuting at the show, SCARY MARY, THE DEPARTMENT OF SOUL RECLAMATION and HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY), as well as being a 'base of operations' for any writers at the con taking part in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), giving encouragement - and rubber ducks! - to anyone participating. Hello Everyone! Yes, Game on Girl is back! This month I have a great interview with Indie Author, Trish Heinrich. About Trish Trish is an indie author I had the pleasure of being on a panel with at last year's Geek Girl Con. During our Geeky Moms panel, it was clear that Trish was articulate, engaging, and thoughtful person. I had no idea she was also a "WoW Head" and a serious gamer. We have a great conversation talking about her evolution into being a superhero writer. We also talk about our love of all things Wonder Woman and an aversion we both have to reading comic books. So give it a listen and let us know what you think! Support an Indie Author You can order the first book in Trish's Vigilante's series right now for .99 cents! Go here and order today! Remember: The best gift you can give an indie author is a review! Her new book series comes out on February 15th and pre-orders start at the end of January. Subscribe to her site for regular updates. New Logo In case you didn't notice, Game on Girl has a new logo. Many thanks to Kaytalin Platt McCarry for the design. Her work should be familiar since she is the designer behind The Geek Embassy logo as well. To Discuss What was your first geekdom? How do your geeky passions influence other work in your life? On this week's brand new FFR, we're live at GeekGirlCon '18 to talk about the ongoing trend of gender swaps in movies and television, whether it be specific characters who are reimagined as women (a la Starbuck in the Battlestar Galactica reboot) or a franchise that has historically centered men now centering female characters (as we see in Ocean's 8 or the 2016 Ghostbusters). Why is this sometimes widely celebrated by fandoms while at other times generating tremendous rage? When are these gender swaps progressive, and when do they just serve to cover up attempts at perpetuating the same old crummy patriarchal ideals? Does anyone really want a female-focused remake of What Women Want? Also, a few thoughts on Red Dead Redemption 2, the end of Megyn Kelly's morning show, and more!
