We had so much fun crafting & presenting our panel that we wanted to immortalize it for you all. This somewhat more formal minisode takes a look at how genre & subgenre function in both published literature and fanfiction, with some key talking points covering romance as the foundation for fic, genre fusions, and our pitch for what "fic genre" entails.

This was the second year that Rebecca has had a booth at GGC, increasing the floor space of the company's representation to not only show of the new titles in their portfolio (including new titles debuting at the show, SCARY MARY, THE DEPARTMENT OF SOUL RECLAMATION and HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY), as well as being a 'base of operations' for any writers at the con taking part in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), giving encouragement - and rubber ducks! - to anyone participating. Marian Call is an Alaskan chanteuse who found an audience after winning a Firefly-related song contest in 2007. She has run her music career as an independent grassroots effort ever since. She connects with her fans constantly and directly, both through social media and crowdfunding, and sleeping on their floors during tours and house concerts. She spends a lot of time on the road, and we talked in person (appropriately enough, in my living room) right after GeekGirlCon 2013 in Seattle in October.
