Isamaya Ffrench's eponymous beauty brand ISAMAYA is very new - two years! But what an impact it's made. Shocking us with her lipsticks in penis-inspired packaging (a sentence I never thought I would write!) and her Steven Klein campaigns, her brand of cosmetics has landed - as she says - “exactly where I wanted it to land”. But juggling it alongside her day job - creating campaigns and catwalk looks for some of the most influential global stars in the fashion and music industry, from Balmain, Giambattista Valli, Vivienne Westwood as well as contributing to international magazines like Vogue, Dazed, and Beauty Papers, recently took its toll. When she experienced one too many burnouts, Isamaya finally learnt that she's the only person who can improve her own life quality. And so that's just what she did. Yet another pinch me moment this week—today on the show we have Audrey Hepburn's son, Luca Dotti, and Meghan Friedlander, who together wrote the beautiful and compelling book Audrey Hepburn in Paris. Meghan is the curator of the popular Audrey fan site Rare Audrey Hepburn, and Luca? Well, he knew Audrey better than almost any human being can say. I am a huge Audrey Hepburn fan, so the thought of spending time with one of her two sons is unbelievable to me. The book also includes a foreward by Giambattista Valli, and the book explores and celebrates Audrey's lifelong connection to Paris, featuring all of the places in the City of Light she loved the most and telling her story there. The book has never-before-published anecdotes and photographs and digs into her family, friendships, films, photoshoots, and fashions, especially her soul mate relationship with friend and fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy. You will be left breathless and speechless, both by the book itself and the stories and photos within it, and by this conversation. In this book we get a glimpse of the iconic actress' beautiful life there, and each chapter of the book focuses on a different aspect of Paris that made it so precious to Audrey. Audrey never actually lived in Paris, but she was an honorary Parisienne. Towards the end of the book, it reads that “She would form some of her happiest memories in the life-altering city.” It was endlessly enjoyable reading about them. Plus, stick around to hear about what writers I'd love to invite to my dinner party or interview, but won't be able to, at least not on this side of heaven. Imagine: Nora Ephron. Maya Angelou. Dominick Dunne. Julia Reed. And little old me. I may not ever be able to have them on the show (they've all left us for a better place), but I can at least have the honor of talking to you about them. As you can tell by the title, we have something to say about Italy. However, it is mostly postive! There is, however, an in house competition regarding whether Ice Cream or Gelato is better. What is not in debate is the beauty and wonder of Assisi and Rome...wow.But, what and why? Why are we so moved from having spent some time here? Well, check out the episode. Sharing my thoughts on the underwhelming fashion month that was Spring/Summer 2024! Neon green (Elie Saab, Kate Spade, PatBo) Metallics (Ralph Lauren, Prada) Big applique lace (Valentino, Georges Hobeika) Red for the neutral girlies (Kendall Jenner in Shiaparelli) 50s volume hair etc (Versace, Shiaparelli) Giant Sequins (Carolina Herrera, Proenza Schouler) Drop Waists Not as much of the big poofy stuff I saw last year (Last Year's Giambattista Valli) and not as much satin/taffeta as last year

Paris Fashion Week Spring Summer 2023 was a week filled with harsh realities (Balenciaga, Commes des Garçon), fantastic displays of nature (Loewe), sexy party looks (Alessandra Rich, Courreges), and pretty dresses that got us ready for spring before winter has even started (Zimmerman, Giambattista Valli)! We each picked 3 shows to dive into, and then of course we couldn't limit ourselves to just that so we threw in a few bonus shows at the end before reviewing out Week in 5 Fits! Don't miss it! Also well-regarded as a creative director, curator and contributor to Vogue, Arena HOMME+, Interview Magazine, i-D, GQ, AnOther Magazine and more, Dan Thawley has taken on the industry from every angle, including retail work and modelling, making him one of those rare, truly holistic editors. Hear Dan retrace his journey from first tapping into his creativity as an indie rock theatre kid in Sydney to plunging headfirst into the fashion industry as a model as well as working in high-end stores learning about the passion, craft and production processes behind his favourite designer garments. Dan details his personal growth throughout different periods of his curiosity as he took the leap to London right as a recession hit and ended up steering the communication and editorial part of one of Antwerp's most fabled concept stores of the late 00s - to eventually taking on fashion bible ‘A Magazine Curated By', first brought to life as N°A Magazine by Walter Van Beirendonck, Paul Boudens and Dirk Van Saene for the historic ‘MODE2001: Landed/Geland' city fashion project. Learn how 'A Magazine Curated By' clicks together, why the mythic 2004 Maison Martin Margiela issue was recently re-printed and how Dan and his team collaborate with the industry's most interesting names like Giambattista Valli, Kim Jones and Simone Rocha, navigating the surprises and contrasts encountered along the way.

It’s HC week again! And while we’re still missing in person shows, designers found ways to wow us all the same. This week we take a look at the highlights from the HC Masters - Chanel, Dior, Fendi and Giambattista Valli. And while those shows were consistently good, it was really the new wave that impressed us this week. Exciting looks from Schiaparelli’s Daniel Roseberry stole the week, along with Alber Elbaz’s debut of AZ Factory’s first three projects and Area’s crystal and sculptural feats. Iris Van Herpen and Valentino also excited us with their ability to continually evolve their known aesthetics into something fresh. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured
We put it off, but we couldn’t avoid discussing the biggest story of 2020 thus far. As Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex officially split from the Royal Family, we’re all left speculating what their next move will be. Will Meghan stick to strictly charity? Or will she evolve into a full-fledged lifestyle brand? One thing is certain – whatever she does will definitely involve fashion. Plus, it was a huge week for Style Snacks. We jump into Haute Couture week and all the biggest shows - Givenchy, Dior, Chanel, Giambattista Valli, Schiaparelli and of course Jean Paul Gaultier’s final show. We also nerd out about Raf Simon’s rumored move to Miu Miu, Balenciaga’s planned return to Haute Couture, Prada’s pop up club and Louis Vuitton’s new restaurant. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

A conversation between fashion designer Giambattista Valli and editor, journalist Gianluca Longo on Giambattista Valli and his creations.

Giambattista Valli is an extremely talented Italian designer, who was born in Rome and has now built up his own empire. A fashion empire, dedicated to creating romantic, feminine and beautiful clothing for women who want to look and feel special. Valli has done something that very few modern designers have been able to accomplish. He spent years honing his craft alongside great designers like Roberto Capucci and Emanuel Ungaro, before making the bold choice in 2005 (when most of his peers were becoming designers for big name fashion houses) to launch his own signature label. In fact, he reportedly famously passed on taking over at Valentino to start his own company. Which, as anyone in fashion will tell you, was a pretty ballsy move. Since then he has slowly and meticulously grown his brand. Supported by devoted gaggle of beautiful fashion plates, that have been affectionately called Valli Girl; that include Bianca Brandolini d’Adda, Charlotte Dellal, Lee Radziwill, Queen Rania of Jordan, Diane Kruger and Giovanna Englbert. He even had the backbone to take on the rarified air of haute couture, launching his line in 2011. He now counts more than 250 points of sales around the world in over 40 countries across the globe. Oh, and did I mention, beside building his own brand, Valli was behind the Moncler Gamme Rouge womenswear line, designing it for a decade. So the man knows how to multitask. He is also fiercely independent and, until this past year, rebuffed any offers from groups to bring the Valli brand into a luxury fold. But last year Valli teamed up with François Pinault and signed an agreement with Artémis, the French holding company of the Pinault family, which acquired a minority stake in the house. This means that the Valli brand is currently in the throes of some major expansion, as the designer plots out the future of his namesake label. One other thing you need to know about Valli, he loves beauty. He surrounds himself with it, hunts it out wherever he goes and uses it as a benchmark for everything he does. So it shouldn’t be surprising that instead of doing our interview in a sterile office setting he invited me to tea at his hotel, where - sitting by a pool and overlooking a glorious vista - we talked about his past, present the exciting future he sees for his house.

Supermodel Gigi Hadid speaks out about body-shaming on social media backstage at Giambattista Valli's Spring 2016 Collection in Paris. She talks to us the impact of the bold viral post that she recently shared with her 7.2 million Instagram followers. Hadid had received numerous negative comments on the popular social media app, with some criticizing her curves, slightly jumpy walk and reality show pedigree. On September 28th she defended herself and with a passionate, heartfelt post on her Instagram feed: “No, I don’t have the same body type as the other models in shows…I’m a hard worker that’s confident in myself, one that came at a time where the fashion industry was ready for a change.” We caught up with Gigi backstage at Spring 2016 Paris Fashion Week to find out more about her empowering message for women everywhere. Reported, Executive Produced and Directed by Karen Morrison.
