Episode 58! Today we discuss the pros and cons of Ambien, Ben Shapiro doesn't want you to retire, the Tate brothers are a lil' sensitive, Global Guts for Adults, Restless Leg Syndrome, Gray hair/bad haircuts, Abbott Elementary, and Carly's obsession with MGK.
Moira Quirk (Mo from GUTS) dropped by the pod this week to talk about GUTS and Global GUTS. Quirk shared her audition story, what it was like working with Mike O'Malley, why those GUTS trophies were so freaking heavy, what the Aggro Crag is actually made out of, and so much more!
Y'all! Mike Perkins is a damn delight! This conversation is such a sweet relief and just feels like a warm hug. Ya know, the way seeing our favorite celebs on late night used to make us feel? Speaking of which, Mike is a late night show host and has aspirations of being the next host to make you feel at home! We talk about the Hollywood shutdowns, our childhood comedic heroes and we go on quite the rant about our affinity for Global Guts and The Rosie O'Donnell show! This is a good one folks! Text us and say hello! It's Part 2 of the New Year's Nonstop Nickelodeon Extravanga, and I only have one question for you -- D-d-d-do ya HAVE IT? Sports and game shows on Nickelodeon went hand in hand with their animated offerings, especially in the late 90s. So on this week's episode of the podcast, Derek joins me once again, as we reminisce about all the…guts (see what I did there?) and glory that made up Nick GaS. Olmec, are you ready?Let's ROCK!Support the Show. We've got merch!Check out the site for some awesome Gen 'S' swag :)
On this episode of Mind The Mess, we start with a fun fact about the number 121 from KEB The Producer...right? Right, guys? Wrong, you'll know why. Then we get into some sports talk starting with the king, the NFL. The best part for you non-sports fans is it's about a QB hook up. That's right, if you don't know football, look up Zach Wilson's face and listen to us talk. Then we get into the Panther's QB room, which is pretty crowded right now with two top 5 picks from the same draft. RJ also gives a list of some QB "competitions" this season and it's rough. Plus Deshaun Watson's suspension rumors isn't great. But the second biggest NFL news, next to a mom's-friend-hook-up, is the horrible name the Steelers now have for their stadium. We don't know how to say it and we are convinced no one else does either. But it sounds like it's named after the Aggro Crag from Global Guts, and that, that's what we will call it. Plus it wouldn't be summer time without some SELTZERS! Yup, this episode is sponsored by Bud Light (but not really) but we are tasting and rating. Also KEB hates the Garrett system and we kind of correct it. Also there are many stories in this one, 2 from RJ that lead to KEB's way to deal with people asking him for money, Medium T's potty training and KEB's friend who sleeps with extra protection. Man, what a show. Enjoy!
Nickelodeon's GUTS, later Global GUTS, was a mainstay of the network's "cheaply produced gameshows" that acted as ballast for some of the other, bigger shows. Each episode, a group of kids competed in physical challenges, culminating in a trip up the Aggro Crag, for a chance to win a "glowing piece of that radical rock". From this setup, we get a really anemic minigame collection that's mostly repeats... so Gary talks about a juggler he saw recently.
Travis, James and Kevin welcome back Eric Baker! Before his time as Head Imagineer with Disney, Eric worked behind the scenes on many Nickelodeon shows of the 90s including Double Dare, Clarissa Explains It All, Global Guts and Legends of the Hidden Temple. With many of these original props from Eric's collection on their way to Travis and Kevin, the guys are revisiting the golden age of Nickelodeon television and all that slime and gak. Hosted by Travis Landry, James Supp and Kevin Bruneau

Floor is Lava has ventured into THE KITCHEN, and we're joined by Drew Davenport to discuss the truly dizzying obstacles in the room. Dizzying, get it? Because of the bar stools?Global Guts comes up for the second time in our small catalog as we try to find the perfect Mo to Rutlage Wood's Mike O'Malley, and Drew has come thoroughly prepared with a pitch for a new room in the game. We're still asking for clips of kids talking about the Floor is Lava! If there's a kid in your life with a lot of HOT TAKES send a short audio clip of them to us at lavaandfloor (at) gmail.com for an upcoming special episode! Our theme song is "Lava" by Doctor Popular, check him out here: http://docpop.bandcamp.com/
It’s our last episode of the year (and decade, some might say)! Leslie and Bobby Newport have a nice chat, even though her tour bus interrupted a memorial for his late father. He’s so forgiving, that Bobby Newport. Chris Traeger needs to keep moving forever or else he’ll dissolve into a pit of darkness. Tom showcases a bit of his entrepreneurial mind with a snazzy alcohol-flavored yogurt concept called Yogurt Platinum.Mike O’Malley’s here too, though, we like him better as the host of Guts and Global Guts. And this episode features one of Joey’s favorite scenes, when Andy Dwyer – as Bert Macklin – recreates Jerry getting pied by a rogue attacker. We also discuss whether you can send CBD products through the mail, brazenly forget what the point of the S.S. Anne is in the original Pokemon games, and dive deep into the stats of the different Legends of the Hidden Temple teams. Very topical, as the show is about to get a reboot. Also, Sean dazzles us with his AMAZING Rodney Dangerfield impression, as well as a few other good ones he’s kept hidden up his sleeve. Here are some of Joey's impressions, too. They’re very bad. Haleigh and Sean each share mischievous stories regarding pianos.EPISODES4, E21: Bus TourDRINK OF THE EPISODETwo Roots Brewing Co. Public Service Announcement: This is your brain... This is your brain on Zain... The Newsy Neighbors are back at it again with another episode chock full of zainy takes and stupid news. Join us as we test out a couple new segments including who The Best Maine is on the podcast. A Nickelodeon Guts audience member graces Beaver Studios with his presence and we reminisce on some of our fondest childhood memories. Nicey recounts his chance encounter as a young naked boy with the man who inspired the show, Newsy Lalonde and we try our best to learn something new as we take a walk back in time and find out what pops with the cast. A listener question gets posed that is as timely as it is interesting and if you want to be a part of the show hit us with your questions at newsyneighbors@gmail.com
"Do, do, do, do you have it?" Before American Ninja Warrior, 90s kids across the world (yes, THE WORLD) dreamed of testing their physical abilities on the unique action game show Nickelodeon Guts, and Drew and Katie are no exception. Listen as they discuss an episode from its first season (featuring someone who became so famous, Katie couldn't remember which boy band he was in) and another from the international sensation, Global Guts. Website: http://tfgifpodcast.com Twitter/Instagram: TFGIFPodcast Email: tfgifpodcast@gmail.com
Keaton and Nasser remember the international kids competition game show Global GUTS while trashing their shitty school nurses who wouldn’t let them get away with shit.
What's in the basket, maniacs? This week we're digging into our first Frank Henenlotter movie with 1982's Basket Case, and we're joined by both Allen and Katie from Werewolf Ambulance! They're promoting not only their podcast but their upcoming live show in Pittsburgh on October 5th. While discussing this MOMA-recognized flick, we talk about weird dates, nonsensical physics, Belial's dedication to the ketogenic diet and we teach Allen about Global Guts.
Friends With Benefactors (Classic) Ep. 4 – Sex Tapes, Drugs, and Rock and Roll http://www.friendswithbenefactors.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/fwb4.mp3 In this episode the friends discuss Legends of the Hidden Temple, Global Guts, the Hulk Hogan sex tape, virtual reality, and much more. This week’s Beer Reviews is Sam Adams – Nitro White Ale – 5.5% ABV.
Continuing our bonus episode tradition of covering awesome 90s gameshows, today we bring you Global Guts! So like everyone remembers the original Guts right? 3 US kids battled it out in these wacky events, culminating in an epic showdown on the nefarious Agrocrag??! But THEN they got the bright idea to take this shit international, and kids from all over the world came to compete for a piece of the 'Crag. So basically, like Kids Olympics! Hosted by Mike O'Malley (coincidentally also the name of one of our Dad's friends growing up!) and with overly polished ref Mo, Global Guts taught us that cargo nets, bungees, and lots of dry ice will take you far in life, but the only way to master the 'Crag is if you don't forget to push all the light sensors! We'll chat about what our cool nickname would be on the show, do some Mo impressions, and how cool it must have to get a piece of the 'Crag! Do do do do do you have it? GUTS! THE NBA IS BACK! Kinda, sorta. Preseason is here, and Mickstape has all the takes you need on all things related to the following: Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hey Arnold!, Ren & Stimpy, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Guts, Global Guts, Hey Dude, modern athletes participating in Guts, Angry Beavers, Scrat from Ice Age, Doug, Rugrats, The Simpsons, how flying in airplanes is actually terrifying, Milos Teodosic, the ocean is actually quite large potentially too large, Lonzo Ball, Lavar Ball, Game of Thrones, Lakers fans blatantly disrespecting Kobe Bryant, and Tom Petty.
Hamilton's Gregory Haney is on the podcast this week and we are thrilled to have him! Gregory tells us what it's like playing some of the grimiest characters in the show: James Reynolds, Charles Lee, and George Eacker. We also talk to Gregory about his experience as La Cienega, Broadway's first transgender high school student in Bring It On, and he dishes about being in Grease Live! Not to mention the fact that he WON GLOBAL GUTS ON NICKELODEON WHEN HE WAS 13 YEARS OLD NBD. Gregory on Global Guts:

Good evening. On behalf of Disney Philharpodcast — the podcast where dreams come true — we welcome all of you to Epcot, and World Showcase. We’re gathered here tonight, around the USB microphones — as people of all podcasts have gathered for thousands and thousands of episodes before us — to relive the magic, and to learn facts we should already know. An amazing story as old as time itself, but still includes way too many Will Smith songs. And though each of us has our own individual stories to tell about our favorite past viewings experiences, a true adventure emerges when we bring them all together as one and attempt to answer Andy's Roundup question. We hope you enjoy our story tonight: Reflections of Earth, Motion Nightclub, and Global Guts...let's go to Mo! @disneyphilharpodcast @disphilharpod Note: I meant to say commodore, not commander (in the beginning)...anyone watching The Handmaid's Tale?? yikes.
