In this episode, I discuss why outdated marketing methods are holding manufacturers back and how embracing data-driven strategies can drive measurable results. Many industrial companies stick to "what's been working" without auditing the ROI or exploring innovative techniques. I break down how technological evolution applies to marketing, just like it does to machinery—why settle for 10-year-old methods when new tools can deliver exponential results? We also cover why video content is an untapped goldmine for manufacturers. Imagine creating 100+ videos annually that showcase your services, culture, and value propositions—all while tracking key data points to measure success. Whether it's leveraging CRM tools, monitoring SEO performance, or optimizing PPC campaigns, I show how simple metrics can reveal the true impact of your efforts. If you're ready to beat the competition, build smarter strategies, and grow your revenue, this episode is a must. __________Subscribe For More Video Content :https://www.youtube.com/kylemilan__________Say Hi on Social:LinkedIn : https://www.linkedin.com/in/kylemilan/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kylejmilanFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/KyleJMilan/__________Connect For Business:MFG Tribe: https://mfgtribe.comMFG Tribe on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/mfgtribe/Technical Sales University: https://training.technicalsalesu.com/enroll

Welcome back to Business Unfiltered with Mercer and Jeff Sauer today's topic is Teaching Old Dogs New Tricks 0:00: Staying up-to-date in business as an experienced entrepreneur. Old dogs learning new tricks: Staying fresh, and open to new ideas while leveraging experience. 1:13: Adapting to new technology while preserving old methods. Jeff emphasizes the importance of updating one's mindset, skill set, and business strategies to stay competitive in a rapidly changing market. He grapples with the tension between sticking with tried and true methods versus embracing new technology, acknowledging that both approaches have merit. Mercer acknowledges the benefits of automation and AI but is hesitant to switch from a legacy platform like WordPress to a newer one without a clear benefit. 4:48: Using AI and upgrading tech stack for business success. Mercer and Jeff discuss the concept of "move fast and break things" in the context of business and innovation. Jeff shares examples of how Facebook and other companies have adopted this approach, including introducing new products and features despite potential risks. He also highlights the downsides of breaking things, such as losing valuable resources or alienating customers, and how maturity and business stage can impact this approach. Jeff discusses the importance of reevaluating technology stacks every 2 years to stay up-to-date and efficient. He mentions using Kajabi as an all-in-one platform to replace his WordPress system, highlighting the need to adapt to new tools and systems. 10:02: Evolving business strategies and team management. Mercer discusses the importance of evolving with the market and staying up-to-date with industry trends, even for lower-level team members. Jeff shares how he addressed a lack of project management skills on his team by investing in software, training, and up-leveling his team's skills. 11:57: Staying up-to-date in the digital marketing industry. Jeff discusses ways to stay up to date with industry changes, including newsletters, YouTube, podcasts, and networking with other professionals. He emphasizes the importance of resourcefulness and taking action to learn new techniques, rather than simply relying on surface-level information. Mercer recommends paying attention to emails from Google and other providers for important updates and changes. 15:56: Evaluating and improving marketing strategies. Mercer discusses the importance of constantly evaluating and improving marketing tactics, by asking yourself if the current approach is still the best possible way to achieve goals. He highlights the need to stay up-to-date with the latest tools and technologies, such as automation and first-party databases, and to continuously measure and evaluate their effectiveness. He also emphasizes the importance of asking probabilities-based questions to determine the potential benefits of investing time and resources into new tactics or approaches. 18:54: Data-driven marketing and analytics. Jeff discusses the changes in Google Analytics and how it has become more of an analyst tool rather than a marketer's tool. He expresses frustration with the new interface and the need to become more deliberate about data collection and analysis. Jeff emphasizes the importance of data-driven decision-making in marketing, citing examples of how external factors can force a company to adapt and change. Jeff shares his personal experience of using data to identify changes in open rates and click-through rates, and how this led him to adjust his marketing strategies. Using data and feedback to improve systems and decision-making. 23:54 Mercer emphasizes the importance of using data to make decisions and having feedback loops in systems to improve them. He suggests asking "What worked, what didn't, and what's next". Mercer stresses the importance of evaluating what works and what doesn't in various industries, and how AI can assist in this process. His company uses a weekly process to evaluate what worked, what didn't work, and what's next, which has helped them navigate through changes in their industry. 27:15: Business growth and adapting to change. Jeff discusses the importance of indicators to identify when change is needed. Old dogs can learn new tricks with data-driven insights.

Please join us on the Boardgames To Go discord server where you can chat online with other podcast listeners. Openers: • Mark: Basketboss • Dave: Istanbul David Arnott @Arnott After hearing Ken Tidwell in last month's podcast, both Dave Arnott and I were impressed with his enthusiastic, optimistic, and forward-looking perspective on the boardgame hobby…despite being an old timer like us. Even older, I think! While neither of us can fully match that, it was inspiring and I asked Dave to consider the topic with me in an open discussion for THIS episode. We recorded it on an iPhone in a church choir room at our SoCal Games Day venue. The audio is ok, but you can tell it's not my normal setup. Also unusual was the lack of a show outline. It means that I struggle a bit to stay focused on the goal. Too often I flip it around and revert to talking about how new hobbyists can/should appreciate the old classics. While that's true, I tried to remember that I want to focus on how the OLD hobbyists can appreciate the new aspects of boardgaming. What are those new aspects? They can be the newest titles, designers, and publishers themselves. They could be Kickstarter and other new ways of marketing & funding. Perhaps it's the prevalence of online play, or solo options. The rise of YouTube videos for rules explanations. Lots of things. What am I missing? The games I brought to my work event, full of hope. Partially fulfilled! Closers: • Dave: Is there a best way to lose a game? • Mark: Gaming success with nongamer coworkers -Mark

At a certain age, it is easy to throw it into cruise control and take our hands off the wheel. We feel we've conquered enough and want to sail through the rest of our years. But where does this lead? What is the benefit of never being curious enough to learn or try something new? Change is inevitable. It's been said that the only constant in life is change. Yet, the older we get, the more can grow resistant to change. Hopefully, this series will help us see the necessity of being open to change and some ways to overcome the opposition to change. Episode three and four will offer insights into implementing and facilitating change.
Ever wondered if magic has the potential to modify reality physically? Could ritual objects or spiritual energy exposure imbue them with mystical properties? We unravel this complex topic, beginning with an exploration of magic's impact on reality. The focus is on whether objects like Excalibur and the Holy Grail become magical through belief or if they are imbued with power through rituals and spiritual energy. We also question how exposure to ritual objects and magical energies could alter one's reality perception. This discussion promises an insightful examination of whether our perceptions might be shaping our reality. Transitioning from the mystical to the educational, our conversation leads us into another intriguing topic - the teaching of adults. Our discussion covers the concept of 'un-teaching' and how it could potentially deepen understanding. But tread carefully; venturing too deeply into the spiritual realm may have its psychological consequences, a critical dimension we examine in this segment. We delve into effective strategies for teaching adults. Here we stress the importance of facilitating self-exploration, enabling individuals to question their beliefs and, ultimately, change their minds. We wrap up by underscoring the necessity for engaging debates and focused conversations, the tools that help reveal logical flaws and prompt a deeper understanding of our world. For those of us whose hearts have been enthralled by bird dogs and bird dog training, it's easy to imagine as beginners that everything we do is tied by a silver cord to an ancient past and that there's one tried-and-true process for training a bird dog, passed down in an unbroken generational succession from master to disciple. There's some truth to all that, but just a little. Our dogs' genes and breeding may reach back a few centuries, and a working and companionate relationship between Canis familiaris and Homo sapiens stretches back many millennia. And while the ways dogs learn and communicate with each other and with us is somewhat constant, our training methods have almost always been in a state of flux—the bends in the river of progress prompted by technological developments, changing cultural attitudes, continually emerging needs, techniques and tools, and careful observation.

CAREER-VIEW MIRROR - biographies of colleagues in the automotive and mobility industries.
In this Side Mirror episode I've introduced you to a good friend of mind, Mark Slater and we've discussed some of the challenges that he's been dealing with in his IT environment, things like coping with a maturing team, integrating young talent, to some extent putting old heads on young shoulders but also taking advantage of their different approach to learning on the go. We also talked about the importance of trust, giving team members space to fail fast and iterate and creating an environment in which they feel safe to share what they are doing, especially if it's a bit unusual and help each other. I hope you found some ideas to reflect on in this episode and I look forward to hearing what resonates with you. This episode of CAREER-VIEW MIRROR is brought to you by Aquilae. Could you use some additional experienced resources who can work alongside you and your team on a flexible basis to help you achieve your priorities? I started Aquilae in 2016 and since then we have worked internationally with established automotive OEMs, EV start ups, FinTechs and insurance companies to achieve their unique mobility goals. Aquilae team members are highly experienced senior leaders with complementary areas of expertise who have run businesses and divisions internationally in our industry. Because we have all had many years experience of operating in the industry ourselves, we don't just advise our clients on what to do. Instead, we tend to work alongside them, delivering their specific projects. We are happy to help develop strategy and we're equally happy to then get involved delivering the plan. Mobility businesses are all about people, processes and technology. We leverage our Aquilae Academy for people development and Aquilae Consulting for those wider business topics. If you're looking for some help with people or business topics and you like the idea of having some additional very experienced, resources who can work flexibly alongside you. Please get in touch with me for a conversation. Jason and Ben discuss who designs a book's cover and why the process is the way it is. We also discuss a FIFTH! POV that nobody ever knew about (except maybe Hemingway). Jason tells us about recent magic in nature with bioluminescence and not kayaking in shark infested waters on windy nights. Also, reminder, if you're participating in NaNoWriMo 2022, we're here to talk to you about your project ahead of time to make sure you feel prepared to do your best fast drafting.
This is a fascinating conversation about human optimisation. Specifically, getting ‘better' as we get older, challenging pre-existing norms and beliefs around physical potential for over forties, life-long learning, skill development, optimal cognitive performance at any age, self-limiting thinking, flow states, behavioural neuroscience and lots more. BIO: Steven Kotler is a New York Times bestselling author, an award-winning journalist, and the Executive Director of the Flow Research Collective. He is one of the world's leading experts on human performance. He is the author of ten bestsellers (out of fourteen books), including The Art of Impossible, The Future is Faster Than You Think, Stealing Fire, The Rise of Superman, Bold and Abundance. Old dogs new tricks? Is it realistic? The old codgers discuss old folks that have learned new things. They also make a feeble attempt at understanding the science behind learning in senior citizens (serious neuroscience is a "trick" way beyond their pay grade). The science be damned, they optimistically conclude that it seems quite feasible that there are a few new tricks in their future. After all, these three old guys taught themselves how to record, produce, and publish a podcast. And there are boatloads of their senior citizen cohorts committed to learning new things as they get older. Old dogs new tricks? You bet! Would you like to hear when we have a new episode? For a lot of outdoorsmen and women, the outdoors are passed down through generations of tradition, almost being a part of us from the beginning. But how do you get into hunting when it hasn't been passed down to you? Trying anything new, especially hunting, can be intimidating, and Joe and Ryan walk us through their journey, from becoming interested in hunting, to being full fledged hunters. Rick has had the opportunity to hunt with both of them, and the being late to the party hasn't kept them from becoming really good hunters already. If you or someone you know is interested in hunting, this is a great listen to help with some of those initial questions and fears. We're also putting out a missing person alert for Dex. Rick handles this one solo again and is starting to build a complex! Don't worry though....Dex will be back soon!If you enjoy this episode, don't forget to subscribe and share with a friend. Neil talks about teaching mature students in this episode. Many of Neils students are fully grown adults of three kinds, absolute novices, lifelong players and people that used to play but quit in order to pursue other priorities. What problems do they present and how can you overcome them? KEY TAKEAWAYS The non players may think it's all talent, but its all about skill and work at the end of the day. They present with no learnt bad habits. Current players appear frustrated and stuck on a plateau. Old techniques are holding them back. It usually relates to the fundamentals of technique. Former players usually approach you as an expert that can provide their teenage dream. They have engrained feelings of failure and frustration but they enter into the student role believing that things are possible. BEST MOMENTS ‘Each one of these groups has their own special set of problems and I see my job is to get them past their problem, their blockage and it really all boils down to how they think and what they believe.' ‘So they end up struggling with self doubt and they ask themselves ‘is this as good as I'm gonna get? Is this a far as I can go?' Or ‘What am I missing?'' ‘I can usually read them so well they think I'm psychic. It's taken decades of study, a lot of money and a lot of time invested in building that skill base.' Downton Gabby is back lovingly analyzing Uncle Julian's latest show The Gilded Age, one hat feather at a time. And boy, do we have opinions! Old vs. new! Upstairs vs. downstairs! People whose ancestors arrived on the Mayflower (or so they say) vs. people whose ancestors picked potatoes in Ireland. And all with a (shocking) American accent. The damsels dig into whether Julian truly can learn some new tricks about diverse characters while sticking to his old standbys: passing a letter from hand to hand, and judgy conniving ladies maids. Welcome back old friends, pour a glass of your best bubbly and let's get into whether Mrs. Russell's dresses are horrifying or fab!

We are now past the All-Star break and teams are getting ready for the playoffs. The Nets have been in acquisition mode all season but they may have pushed their team over the top with their latest move to grab Blake Griffin after he was bought out by the Pistons. LaMarcus Aldridge and Andre Drummond are notable bigs that are rumored to be available on the trade block and the buyout market. Also, with the uptick of threes taken in the NBA, many are wondering if the three-point shot is ruining the game. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/billy-r-trice/support
