Just Yesterday, the Ministry for the Environment released their Our environment 2025 report, highlighting the impacts of land use on the ecosystem of Aotearoa. The report revealed that between 75-95% of Taonga birds, reptiles, frogs and freshwater fish species were at risk of extinction or being threatened and that a significant proportion of groundwater had accumulated excess nitrate due to activities such as intensive farming, logging and urbanisation. These findings also paint a grave picture for te iwi Māori and tangata whenua, whose livelihoods and mana whenua are also threatened by the extinction of native species and degradation of land. Oto spoke to Shaun Awatere, a Kaihautū Māori Research Impact Leader and Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research, about the findings from the Ministry for the Environment's recent report and the initiatives led by Iwi and Hapu to address it.

In this episode, we sit down with Billy Brough (Principal Planner) who brings the 'planning lens' to the Hawkes Bay Regional Recovery Oversight Board. In February 2023, Cyclone Gabrielle caused huge devastation throughout the Hawkes Bay Region, sadly costing 8 lives and catastrophic damage to infrastructure, homes and livelihoods. A year down the track, Hawkes Bay Regional Recovery efforts are still ongoing and Billy has kindly shared with us some of his experiences and learnings throughout being apart of the recovery efforts. In this discussion, Billy shares: * Billy's background as a planner and local to the region. * Overview of who and what forms the Hawkes Bay Regional Recovery Agency / board. * The magnitude of damage and economic cost to the region. * The planning and policy initiatives driving the Hawkes bay regional recovery. * Planning for more 'resilient infrastructure', as well as nature based solutions. * Why it's important for Iwi and Hapu to be represented and engaged in co-design early on, as well as the notable differences between general land and "maori land". * The potential silver-lining for Hawkes Bay to envision a better future through spatial planning. We'd like to apologise in advance for any minor audio interruptions you may hear throughout this episode. There were some technical issues which we had to workaround. We hope the conversation in it's relatively raw form still makes for an insightful listen! Massive thank you to our Guest Billy.

The Deadline Report - Ben Vidgen Investigates. A double shot of reality.
We take a quick moment to address the controversy spread 'round the internet last week, and finally give into popular demand for our official comment on Gholdengo's appointment as National Dex Pokémon #1000. Then, we set our watches back to Island Time and ascend the Altars of the Sunne/Moone to determine whether Solgaleo & Lunala and their alt formes Dawn Wings Necrozma & Dusk Mane Necrozma are as ugly as we originally thought. From there, Parrothead & Skull Grunt are sucked into an Ultra Wormhole and have to grind it (or cheese it) out to beat one of the toughest wild Pokémon encounters there is. Finally, Fairly High Mina unleashes her Fairy types, before unveiling the final trial: the fetchiest-fetch quest where the two trialgoers must visit every previous captain and fight 'em again—before battling each other.
A Wairarapa hapū says a Supreme Court ruling means it should be removed from a proposed treaty settlement that's in its final stages. The Supreme Court this week ruled in favour of Waiarapa Moana in a landmark case, which could potentially require the Crown to return land occupied by the Maraetai Power Station in Waikato. But a settlement due to have its final reading in Parliament could extinguish Wairarapa Moana's chance to have its case heard - which it says would be the Foreshore and Seabed all over again. Māori news reporter Jamie Tahana spoke to Corin Dann.
Josh & Tanner are joined by actual Pokémon Lore Master, Daniel Dockery, author of the book "Monster Kids"! They chat about their own Pokémon origin stories; some of the most interesting anecdotes Daniel learned while writing the book about the series' beginnings; whether or not the anime is good; and of course learn his Sweetie and Barfy. Plus, he gives a vibe check on if Parrothead & Skull Grunt's teams actually fit the themes they're trying to embody. From there, we head down Route 6 for this week's journey "route by route." We encounter seemingly haunted doll Hapu, learn and quickly forget about Battle Royals, and then meet a lot of bad and or sexy guys in Wela Volcano Park. That's right, say "Alola!" to this season's first Fur Affinity Check. Notes: Follow @dandock on Twitter for great Pokémon (and non-Pokémon) tweets alike, and buy his book detailing the first several years of the Pokémon and monster-catching frenzy, Monster Kids, wherever books are sold!

"Kuues käik" podcasti meiliaadress on kuueskaik@delfi.ee. Saade on leitav ka Soundcloudist, Apple'i ja Google'i podcasti rakendustest, iTunesist, Spotify'st ja mujalt.
The New Plymouth District Council has today voted to extend a freedom camping ban to Corbett Park, which is next to Oakura Pa. The council also extended the ban to two areas at Tongaporutu in North Taranaki and limited the freedom camping to six carparks at Battiscombe Terrace in Waitara. This is welcome news to members of the Nga Mahanga a Tairi Hapū, as Corbett Park is right next to Oakura Pa. The hapu says having freedom camping so close to the pa was distressing, and monitoring of the existing bylaw was totally inadequate. Jacqui King is a member of Ngā Māhanga a Tairi.
"Mehed ei nuta" peateemad 22. septembril: - Kas autoralli MMi tiitliheitlus muutus Evansi ja Ogier' "siseasjaks"? Kas Tommi Mäkinen sarjas Ott Tänakut asja eest? - Mida tähendab Kristjan Kanguri otsus liituda TalTechiga koosseisumuredega maadlevale BC Kalev/Cramole? - Kultuuriministeeriumil ja spordirahval ei õnnestu valitsuselt saada kuidagi erandit välissportlaste siiatulekuks, sundides jalgpallikoondisi oma mänge välismaal mängima. Absurd või mitte?

In this groundbreaking work, the authors reexamine humanity’s most enduring account of bondage, emancipation, and freedom. The Great Exodus is the story of how one man, empowered by divine epiphany, brought the mighty ancient kingdom of Egypt to its knees. For thousands of years, this story has bolstered the faithful of three major religions, though little historical data confirms it. So the question must be asked: Did it ever really happen?Roberts, a historian and theologian, and Ward, an archaeologist, Egyptologist, and anthropologist, dig deeply into historical records to answer the most vexing questions:Is there any historical evidence for the biblical account of the Great Exodus? Was Moses a real person?Where is the Biblical Mount Sinai? What is the Ark of the Covenant, and where did it come from? Why did Moses write about the Serpent and the Nephilim? Is there a Templar and Masonic connection to the events and personages in the story?Did the Exodus take place under Amenhotep II or Amenhotep III, two pharaohs of the same royal house separated by two generations and 80-odd years? Or were Thutmoses III, Hatshepsut, and Amenhotep Son of Hapu at the core of the action? The authors present two opposing, yet strangely interlaced historical accounts for the Exodus, naming the historical pharaohs and surprising candidates for the historical Moses. While Roberts presents an account that finds its moorings in the efficacy of scriptural historicity, Ward presents a new and completely unique theory for the Exodus and its cast of characters.Scott Alan Roberts is an accomplished historian, theologian, and writer. Throughout the years, John Richard Ward has conducted numerous investigations of ancient Egyptian architecture and symbolism, and has explored the trade routes of the Western Sarahan Desert.
