At the beginning of May, I attended UNLEASH America as a podcaster and panel host. It was UNLEASH's biggest event to date in the US, and the content and conversations were excellent. As you can imagine, the implications of Generative AI dominated the discussion. From talking to a range of practitioners, vendors, and thought leaders, it was clear that everyone agrees that Talent Acquisition will be changed quickly and forever by new technology.  However, it is not just technology that is driving change; aside from the obvious economic issues, many employers are rethinking their whole approach to talent, and this was reflected in several conversations I had about the blurring lines between talent acquisition and talent management. Next week I'll be publishing some long-form interviews I recorded at the event, but in the meantime, here is a series of short conversations that capture the essence of the discussion at the show.  Appearing in this episode: John Vlastelica, the CEO of Recruiting Toolbox Sarah White, the Founder of Aspect 43 Mervyn Dinnen, HR Analyst and my co-author on "Digital Talent." Crissy McConnell, Internal Recruiting Lead at Guild. Topics discussed include: Thinking holistically about talent Breaking down the silos between Talent Acquisition and Talent Management The impact of Generative AI The market for recruiting technology Legislation and legal confusion around AI Psychological Safety and ERGs The future of jobs and the end of everything Candidate and consumer attitudes to AI Regenerating talent to open opportunity Surfacing internal talent Total experience The future of talent acquisition Subscribe to this podcast in Apple Podcasts.

What if you were trapped in an abusive relationship for 23 years, and the fear of judgment and rejection kept you from finding your way out? How would you rise above and reclaim your life? On this powerful episode of Real Talk, Real Women, Breaking the Silence Around Abuse, I am honored to speak with Cynthia Encinas Concordia. Cynthia bravely shares her story of transcending fear and finding a path to healing, ultimately discovering her purpose in helping others break free from their own limitations. Cynthia's journey is not only about overcoming an abusive relationship but also about navigating the cultural complexities of addressing domestic violence in the US and the Philippines. We explore how a lack of legal protection for women and children in the Philippines, as well as the emotional impact of domestic abuse, contributed to her struggles. Cynthia also shares how her work with the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank played a crucial role in helping her make a pivotal shift in her life. Tune in as Cynthia shares her wisdom on forgiveness and how it has allowed her to become the person she is today. As the founder and CEO of Dream To Rise LLC, a life coach, and the author of My Journey Into Becoming, her mission is to spread sunshine, peace, kindness, compassion, and love. Be inspired by her incredible journey and learn how you too can overcome fear and rise above adversity. Cynthia's short introduction Cynthia has been in an abusive relationship with her husband for 23 years. It was her fear that kept her in this relationship. She was afraid of what other people would say, afraid that she was not committed to her marriage vows, and afraid that she would be judged and rejected. However, after his two restraining orders, he died of a massive cardiac arrest. Being cut off by his family because she was blamed for his death, Cynthia was trapped in her dark bubble for 6 years, living a miserable life because of fear. She made a shift so her children might experience and appreciate what life really is. A graduate of De La Salle University with a bachelor's degree in AB Psychology and a BSC in Business Management, she has worked for different companies and organizations, which made her realize the importance of human connection and knowledge sharing. The two international organizations, the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank, widened her perspective on life. That's the benefit of working with colleagues from different countries around the globe. Her dream comes true was her last 6 years before she retired as an HR Analyst at the World Bank HR department. After she retired, she found something missing in her life and that was her purpose. She has discovered that her life experiences can truly help others, especially those who are stuck and afraid to go out of their comfort zone to make a change in their lives. She was in that situation, and she wants to inspire the abused women, most especially, that there is truly a light at the end of the tunnel and live the life they love. Given the remaining years of their life here on earth, there is still time to live life to the fullest and enjoy what life has to offer. Cynthia Concordia is the Founder and CEO of Dream to Rise LLC which started in September 2020.   Cynthia's vision is to spread sunshine and happiness to the people she meets so this may create a ripple effect. She only wants to see peace, kindness, compassion, and love here on earth. Her passion to spread light paved the way for her to become a life coach, publish a book, “My Journey Into Becoming”, start her mastermind group, Dream to Rise Inner Circle, and launch her podcast “Dream To Rise Podcast”. Cynthia helps women and men from 25-65 years of age who are struggling with their blockages and limiting beliefs that stop them from moving forward to manifest their dreams. Those who have gone through her program are now living their purpose and living the life they love. She just wants to share her message to the world that life is great! Don't waste your time doubting, worrying, and being afraid of what the future will offer us. You deserve to be happy. Forging Employee Experience

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 2, 2020 9:04

On any given normal workday, we see our employees come into the office and go about their work. Their mere presence at work tells us a lot more than we think. If an employee shows up at work, then they are not too sick to get out of bed, at the hospital, taking care of their children, or caring for other loved ones. We can also assume that nothing overly drastic has happened in their life such that they would need to be somewhere else. We can further deduce from their appearance and behavior, compared to their normal, if they are stressed or agitated. (Thanks Watson) That is a lot of assumptions that we typically have unlimited access to when working alongside coworkers. Covid-19 has taken most of that away from us. We have no idea what is going on with our employees. We know they are getting their work done because they respond to emails, take conference calls, and meet deadlines. But all of the external factors that affect their mental state are a complete mystery. Are their family members healthy? Are their kids driving them crazy? Are they short on hard-to-find supplies (why is all the toilet paper gone?!)? Do they personally feel under the weather? Are they supported with the technology they need to do their job? Are they agitated at all the information they’re being bombarded with? These are just some of the things that are definitely affecting the workforce of today. In a recent podcast with Ben Eubanks, HR Analyst, Author, and Podcaster, he describes the fundamental attributes that organizations must have as they work with their new logistic set up – grace. Ben describes the attitude of grace as one of compassion and understanding. While we don’t necessarily know all of the things that are going on in our employees’ lives, we do know that there are now a lot of unknowns. Being truly empathetic of that and treating our employees accordingly is the true meaning of grace. To hear the rest of the podcast go to Forging Employee Experience. To connect with Ben, go to his site: https://lhra.io/. Employees and employers alike are having a tough time with so many things that have nothing to do with their day-to-day responsibilities. Now more than ever, employers need to listen and hear what is going on with their at-home workforce to better lead and assist them through the tough times ahead. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/forgeant/support

She's found business school to be a surprisingly liberating experience - with very few expectations of appropriate post-graduation steps, she's free to explore her creative side. HR Happy Hour 177 - Analyze This! Recorded March 3, 2014 Recently,on the HR Happy Hour Show, hosts Steve Boese and Trish McFarlane sat down with Mike Cooke, Chairman and CEO of Brandon Hall Group, and welcomed him to the show.  With Trish's recent career change to joining Brandon Hall Group as the VP of HR Practice/ Principal Analyst, this seemed like the opportune time to discuss what analyst firms do and how HR leaders can be helped by the advisory services they provide in addition to the research.  In this episode, we talked about some of the upcoming research Brandon Hall Group is working on as well as the recently launched HR Systems Survey.  It was an interesting look behind the scenes of the HR Analyst industry and process and we hope you enjoy the conversation with Steve, Trish, and Mike.
