After hearing James Dunne's single “Black Train,” I immediately thought, “I need to talk to this guy.” And here we are. James and I talk about is first single, “Duty,” which reflects on is own time serving in the British Armed Forces and the other tales he covers in the EP, released earlier this year. Music has been a part of James' life for years but it's only recently that he decided to release it and we look into what led to this. James and I talk about the music video for “Black Train” which features—you guessed it—a black train. There's a story with this one, and the visuals are amazing. We also talk about the reception he's gotten since the release of his music and the different folks he's met as he's begun this new part of his life. Opening the episode is an excerpt from “Black Train” and closing the show is the full song.

Outlaw country explores raw truths through the power of authenticity and storytelling and gives a voice to those not living the American dream. This subgenre is growing, and there's no better way to chat about it than with UK-based outlaw country artist James Dunne. The quote for this episode is by Willie Nelson: “We are the same. There is no difference anywhere in the world. People are people. They laugh, cry, feel, and love, and music seems to be the common denomination that brings us all together. Music cuts through all boundaries and goes right to the soul.” During my conversation with James, we talk about the outlaw country genre, storytelling in music, writing authentically, music defying boundaries, emotions being at the heart of music, songwriters and artists writing and singing songs they relate to and believe in, the importance of realism, embracing moments of authentic inspiration, writing metaphorical lyrics, and more. We also chat about James' single, “Black Train,” and his upcoming EP with the same title. My conversation with James is inspiring and enlightening, so I hope you love it. Dairy specialist, James Dunne, joins Emma-Louise Coffey on this week's Dairy Edge podcast to discuss the key learnings from the recent Once-a-Day milking conference. He discussed Dr Emer Kennedy's report on the OAD experiment at Teagasc where cows were compared on full-time OAD, full-time TAD and short-term OAD. For cows on OAD for the first 4 weeks of lactation, daily milk solids were 20% lower while full lactation milk solids were 10 kg lower compared to TAD cows. On average, OAD milking reduces total daily milking time by 30%. Meanwhile, Don Crowley explained that 60% of incidence of high SCC or mastitis originate during the dry period. Don encourages farmers to take action now to minimise risks, that cows are in correct BCS, cows are fed adequate dry cow minerals, cubicles are clean and dry and the milking parlour is serviced before the start of lactation. James also explained the concept of ‘10 in 7' (10 in 14 milkings), a new milking frequency farmers are using on farm to reduce labour input. In practice, cows are milked TAD on Monday, Wednesday and Friday with milking times of 7 am and 4 pm and OAD on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday with milking time of 10 am. On this week's episode of The Dairy Edge, dairy specialist James Dunne joins Emma-Louise Coffey to quantify the impact of recent growth rates on 1st cut silage crops. James explains that growth rates in Moorepark and Ballyhaise to 20th April this year are similar to the 10-year average. However, from 20th April to 10th May, growth rates were 20kg and 10kg lower in Moorepark and Ballyhaise respectively. James reassures us that the difference in growth rates can be made up in a few short days in mid to late-May where conditions allow. James anticipates that 1st cut yield may be 7-8% behind normal but emphasises that farmers should continue with their normal cutting date of mid to late May in order to preserve silage quality and move to growing the 2nd crop of silage. He encourages all farmers to complete a winter feed budget as early as possible to quantify the winter feed quantity and quality requirements and to quantify the feed available following 1st cut and 2nd cut. Racing bosses are pursuing a lifetime ban for the man who stood in the middle of a thundering field of racehorses on Wellington Cup Day.The 24-year-old is facing a criminal charge of endangering life, safety and health, after he took to the Trentham track towards the end of Race 8 on Saturday.Miraculously, none of the people or horses involved were hurt.James Dunne from New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing told Heather du Plessis-Allan told the man showed a total lack of judgement for himself and for the animals and jockeys. He says the clubs are now discussing what they can do to increase security. "In this case, this guy climbed over three fences - and they aren't easy fences to get over. He evaded security guards."We want to strike a balance that the many, many thousands of people who attend the races every year have the opportunities to see the grace and beauty of the horse."Dunne says that it must be remembered this one guy out of thousands. James Dunne a professional Sports Rehabilitation Therapist in the U.K. started his private practice in 2011. Wanting to stick out in his profession he turned to blogging and social media to provide content and get people through his door. He produced a 30 day challenge for runners as a free product to get them to subscribe. With the 30 day challenge being a huge hit. James felt there was something missing..... the community aspect. The idea of having a community where people can go through the challenge together really struck a chord with James. This is when James decided to start his Facebook Group, Transform You're Running. His group does just that. It is highly engaged and quite a friendly and helpful place to be. If you don't run being in this group can change that. Oh how did James do it??? I had the same question That is why I asked him and recorded the whole conversation. Some of what you will learn in this episode 1) How just having one product can make your group boom 2) How to avoid your group from getting shut down by Facebook 3) How to use your group for engagement but keep the selling to your list 4) How you can collect emails without the members leaving Facebook not using the questionnaire/facebook ads. 5) What you should and should not focus on when creating products for your group Link to his lead ad that James uses in a quite unorthodox way. https://www.facebook.com/kineticrev/posts/1338615276221554 (https://www.facebook.com/kineticrev/posts/1338615276221554) Want to join our new Facebook Group? James Dunne of Kinetic Revolution is a sports rehabilitation therapist who is on a mission to prove that runners stop getting injured and improve performance, IF we focus on the right types of training for our bodies. James looks at what runners can change in running technique to take stress and strain off areas that have been injured in the past from being overworked. In this episode we talk about how to figure out what you need to strengthen to get your body in the correct position from a stability standpoint to make sure you stop over stressing your body...which leads to injuries. If you do not live in an area with access to a specialist like James, he gives suggestions on how you can look elsewhere and find someone who can help you. We discuss how to fit in your strength and stability work around your hard workouts and how to back off correctly as you taper for your big race. The biggest thing I learned was about the difference between runners who need to work on flexibility compared to the runners who need to work on stability. There is a difference, and it is not as simple as stretching being bad or good for us, as it really depends on the runner. Do you have too much flexibility that might be hindering your running? If you have a big range of motion, you do not need to stretch as much, but instead focus on controlling the range of motion that you have. If you have very little flexibility, you need to stretch regularly to maintain hip mobility, to maintain the poor range of motion. You have less instability, and so stability is less important than stretching. If you keep getting injured or feel completely overwhelmed with all the information out there about strength, stability, and flexibility, this episode will finally break it down for based of what you need as a runner. Today's Guest James Dunne James is a Sports Rehab Therapist and Running Coach who is fascinated by human movement patterns, and how they can be refined for both performance and injury rehabilitation. What You Will Learn About James worked alongside Mo Farah in University. Why there is no need to force your running form to change if you are not having injuries or problems. How to use video analysis with screening exercises to understand what issues are causing your overworked areas. How to find an expert to help you if you do not live in an area with access to a gait analysis. The difference between strength and stability, and how we can figure out which one is holding us back. How to handle your strength training during taper time and what you should focus on as the race gets close. Why too much flexibility might be hindering your running. Inspirational Quotes If you can get injured less, and train more consistently, the performance will come from there. Technique is an expression of the way your body is currently put together. Runners need to get good at moving our own body weight efficiently, effectively and quickly. The important thing for us is to be able to control that body weight. Remember, you can get all the strength, stability, and supplemental work nailed down from the best program with the best technique and the best program, but if your training plan is off and you are making fundamental training errors, you will get injured. James doesn't look like the "typical" runner - he's 6'6" and 250 pounds. A former professional rugby player, James has a degree in Sport Rehabilitation and is fully insured member of the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT). He's the founder of Kinetic-Revolution and has an ongoing fascination with the functional biomechanics of running (in other words, how you move while running). In this far-reaching discussion, we talk about quite a few issues: Should overweight runners be more worried about injury? Is gaining weight more important for injury risk than being consistently overweight? Does training for weight loss differ than training for a race? How? Enjoy my conversation with James (and don't miss the announcement at the end of the show!).

ONE STEP AHEAD: Important supplements for the low carb athlete. Plus a supplement prescription for long and/or hard endurance sessions. WORKOUT OF THE WEEK: The standing desk. Research has proven that a seated position is not conducive to physical or mental good health - it can also affect our training. Long periods of sitting act as an independent risk factor which not even 20 hours of weekly exercise will offset. HOT PROPERTY INTERVIEW - JAMES DUNNE: James Dunne of Kinetic Revolution is a Movement and Running Mechanics Specialist. Describing himself as a running coach, movement geek and sports rehab therapist he has a particular passion for identifying and correcting dysfunctional movement patterns that cause overuse injuries or impair efficiency in endurance athletes. James holds a Degree in Sport Rehabilitation and has a special interest in the Functional Biomechanics of Running. THE GEEK-OUT: Mid foot cleat positions for cycling shoes - research shows that this change in cleat position can improve running times off the bike. 5 MINUTE FOCUS: We talk to Robert Durham of 'Revbox'.
