Born and raised on the west coast of Puerto Rico, Carlos Rivera grew up surrounded by music. He was captivated early on by the potent combination of strong bass lines and percussion, a fascination sparked by junglist Roni Size. This initial encounter led him to explore other elements of the electronic music world, where he discovered Ricardo Villalobos and Fumiya Tanaka. Deeply inspired by their style of mixing and production, Carlos has since established his own unique form of expression for his listeners, characterized by sweet sounds that range from vivid housey basslines to jazz melodies. Over the years, Carlos has performed alongside notable artists such as Arapu, ARNO, Janeret, Mihai Pol, Adam Shelton, DJ Tennis, Oshana, Shaun Reeves, and Sonja Moonear, among others. Hit play and enjoy the journey!

@janeret is part of the rising generation of the French scene. He is one of the key artist of @yoyaku roster and the AD of Joule Imprint. As Janeret, he performs regularly through Europe, but has also toured through Japan, Australia, and the Americas, acknowledged for his energetic sets that incorporate minimal house and breaks. Janeret grew up in Grenoble, a city in south-eastern France, but has called Paris home since 2010. It was around this time that he began “taking production seriously,” he explains; his earliest experiments had started several years earlier. He marked his relocation to the French capital with a slew of releases on various imprints, but it wasn't until 2015's Heat EP that Janeret began to feel comfortable with his production methods and style, a smooth take on deep house with a solid groove. Stay Rave with #R13!
This week's entry to the Four Four Local Selection Mix Series welcomes Dublin-born now Sydney-based DJ Eimear Gorman. Eimear has provided us with a dreamy recording that spans an hour in length, filled with luscious chords and soft vocals throughout which seamlessly traverses an array of house music cuts. Eimear Gorman acts as this week's entry to the Local Selection. Coming in as the 205th edition to the series the fruitful DJ has spent years perfecting her craft which has seen her play a host of clubs and shows across Dublin that include Index, Tramline, The Grand Social, Bow Lane Social Club, Wigwam and so on. Not to mention various support slots for acts such as LF System, Chantel Kavanagh, Jen Payne, Cody Wong and Janeret during her time in Dublin. Other notable achievements from Eimear include her festival debut at BD's Day of the Dead Festival at Glendalough House in Wicklow last winter where she played alongside some of Ireland's finest house music DJs on the Chapel Stage as well as a debut mix on Project Radio courtesy of Son Orbis. Though Eimear has just recently made the move to Australia she has landed on her feet where she has picked up shows at Noun and with Down Undergound where she supported esteemed artist Mixed Methods as well as featuring on Australia's Bondi Radio in a relatively short span of time. We are excited to see what the future holds for Eimear on her musical journey. When asked about the mix she compiled for the Local Selection, Eimear commented that ‘In this mix you'll find all things house, starting from a deep underground house rinsing through some minimal, deep house and upbeat tech house with some pumping dance floor house tracks as a finisher. Nothing but love 4 the love of house I have and I find this mix is a great taste to explain what my sets go in a club aside from my mixes. Hope you enjoy!' Sorin Simon has always been attracted to music. It all started in his childhood home of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where he took piano lessons while still in school. His passion for music only grew as the years went by and as he started to go to different festivals, Sorin decided it was time for him to become a DJ. So, in 2006, he got himself some musical equipment and started learning the tricks all by himself, taking inspiration from a:rpia:r crew at that time. That same year, he started playing music at some private parties for friends and small crowds. Slowly, he was learning the craft and by the time he moved to Jersey, in the Channel Islands in the UK, he was ready for the big stuff. Soon enough, he was a resident at one of the top clubs in the city. Time went by and in 2017 Sorin moved definitively to London where he started playing different underground events all around London. A year later, he signed to Vivus Records, an underground/independent and vinyl-only label from South Germany. Sorin has played at multiple festivals both in Romania and abroad such as Monegros Desert Festival, Sonar Off in Spain, Back To The Wild, and Electric Castle in Romania. As a producer, Sorin Simon's dark and trippy soundscapes are reminiscent of the Romanian underground scene and his first track, O dimineață târzie, remains an unreleased jam, that has nonetheless over 150k views on YouTube. Since then, he released two EPs – Ecouri Paralele at Other Thoughts Records and the track Fragmente on the VA03 released by Vivus Records. Sharing the decks with some well-known Dj's like Janeret, Crihan, Cap, Mihigh, RQZ, Cosmjn, Illan Nicciani, Triptil, Bryz, Bexu, Little Hado, Prajescu, Maher Daniel just to name few of them. Sorin aims to give the public the same lovely feeling he has when he encounters quality music and his mesmerizing and deep-dark minimal microhouse does just that. His goal was never to be a people pleaser, but to please the right people. Avenue Red welcomes Buenos Aires-based Damian Miranda AKA Dami Darko, a guy who has been an underground warrior of his country for the past 15 years, both as a DJ and a promoter. Damian has worked on a range of independent projects where he has made strong contributions to an increasingly rich scene in the Argentinian capital city that is dubbed "The Paris of Latin America". Listen to the applications received in the feeder sound OPEN CALL for DJs and producers & VOTE on https://www.feeder.ro/2019/08/25/vote-sound-open-call/ licushorescu – 3 ianuarie Set description: “I don't give titles to my sets very often, but when I recorded this one, it was somewhat of a special occasion for me. “3 ianuarie”, or 3rd of January (for English speaking viewers); I woke up early that day, after a long night of digging tracks. And that night, I felt like I've just found the perfect combination of tracks for a set, so I went for it the very next morning. From the comfort and warmth of my own house, I could gaze upon the falling snow in the garden from time to time through the mixing process, making for a very pleasing and enjoyable experience because there is nothing as serene as seeing the trees covered in a fresh sheet of snow, on a quiet morning for me. Therefore, I've just named the set “3 ianuarie” and the title stuck with it ever since. The set didn't get much publicity because I only published it for a week or two on my personal SoundCloud page, as I had other sets prepared in advance for various podcast series. It isn't a long set to any extent, at 45′ it's merely longer than what I would consider a set at all (30′ at least), but I just couldn't find any other tracks to keep such a synergy throughout the mix and my impatience was growing more and more, so I had to go with what I had. I like my work when it's presenting smooth transitions between the tracks and this one is no exception, so I hope it will take you to a journey, at least as much as it did me. I enjoy listening to it the most when I take a half an hour break in the day for a meditation session. Regarding the tracks, I took a very selective approach to try to create more of a mystical and nostalgic atmosphere with them. Most of them are older unreleased tracks from Mihai Pol that showcase his darker side, but the tracks, numbering 7 or 8 in total, are not from him only. Anyway, enough of that, I hope the description got your attention I think at this point I should let the music do the talking for itself.” About licushorescu | @licushorel I am Alexandru, but I go by the alias Licushorescu. I am a student living in Botosani, a small city in the northest part of Romania. I am a newcomer that started playing recently, more as a hobby than something serios. However, that's not to say that I don't take my mixtapes recorings seriously. This week we have a Vinyl Only episode with our Russian friend Kirill Kalashnikov aka Wyro. Kirill started making beats back in distant 1999 while he was living in siberian city Surgut. Surrounded by snow and cold winter wind he started exploring Fast Tracker software and building his unique music style - warm and calm as summer night. His first love was atmospheric jungle and drum&bass and his first tracks were made in this exact genre but after years of musical experiments, hundreds of gigs around the world and releases on such respected d&b labels as Med School, Fokuz, Covert Operations, Formation and Blu Saphir he had successfully switched to deep Techno and House. Today his various tunes are being played by a very wide spectre of artists. You can hear his minimal tracks in sets of Raresh, Nu Zau and Janeret, his progressive deep house is played by Guy J, Mihai Popoviciu and Mark Popcke, his breakbeat and bass experiments - by Leeroy Thornhill and Justin Martin. Apart from making music Kirill is running a vinyl only label Инженер (Engineer) and working as a CEO of Tramplin.Pro electronic music school (branches in Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and Ekaterinburg). Kirill Kalashnikov aka Wyro started making beats back in distant 1999 while he was living in siberian city Surgut. Born and raised in Arad, music was always his biggest passion. Drawing influences from breakbeat and hip-hop his eclectic style is described as groovy yet minimalistic welding subtle textures with solid drum patterns. Hosting parties at ABC in his hometown and playing at festivals like Exit and Electric Castle he played alongside artists such as Arapu, Priku, Suciu, Cezar, Janeret, Lisière Collectif and many more. In 2018 he's starting a label with the focus of releasing quality underground electronic music. One of my own mixes for episode #55 of the Meet the Locals Podcast. It's been forever since I've recorded a studio mix, and since I'm heading out on a road trip this weekend, I wanted some of my new stuff to listen to on the road. This all vinyl mix features mostly new cuts not available on digital from artists including Ada Kaleh, Traumer, Varhat, Janeret, Joey Anderson, Adam Strömstedt, Octo Octa, Lowris, Molly, Hostom, Dixia Sirong, The Black Pony Orchestra, Patrice Scott, The Funky Green Dogs from Outer Space and Terrence Parker, taking you on a two hour journey through a range of vibes. You may find some tracks challenging and inaccessible at first, but stick with it and you will be rewarded :) You can catch me with Katrina Mir and DJ Ramirez on the DC House Grooves show on DJ Jus-Ed's Underground Quality Radio, every two weeks on Saturday nights at 10pm. Check the UQ Radio page for the full schedule: http://bit.ly/UQSchedule.
All vinyl set from Andy Grant (DC House Grooves), recorded live at Sundays Rooftop on the patio at Eighteenth Street Lounge as it happened, featuring tracks from the likes of Crackazat, Lord of the Isles, Blake Baxter, Sub-Culture featuring Marcus, Lil Louis, DJ Wild, Mateo & Matos, Romanthony, Janeret, DJ Aakmael, Oshana, Glenn Underground, Ion Ludwig, Terrence Parker and more. A couple of needle skips , and at one point someone managed to unplug one of the turntables, but it all adds character, right? :)
"This all vinyl mix is from DC House Grooves founder and Body Werk resident Andy Grant. "I'd had a lot of new music come in recently, and figured the best way to get to know the tracks was to record them so I could listen to them in the car. I hit record and put the first record on, not planning on mixing the tracks, but then I kinda got into it, ending up recording this two hour mix. Completely unplanned and unedited, this one takes you to some interesting and unexpected places, with tracks from the likes of Janeret, Move D, Rick Wade, Carlos, Lopaski, Leo Gunn, Jonno and Tommo & DJ Metatron, to name a few." -Andy Grant @DCHouseGrooves --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/one-love-massive-podcast/support
