Far East Gold Ltd (ASX:FEG, OTC:FEGDF) managing director Shane Menere joins Proactive's Tylah Tully to discuss the Conditional Share Purchase Agreement (CSPA) the company has entered with PT Iriana Mutiara Idenburg (IMI) to acquire up to 100% of the Idenburg Gold Project in Papua province, Indonesia. Initially, the agreement allows FEG to acquire a 51% interest in the 95,280-hectare project, subject to conditions. The project is in a region renowned for significant gold and copper deposits, such as Grasberg, Porgera and Frieda River. The Idenburg acquisition is part of FEG's strategy to enhance its portfolio and position itself as a holder of world-class assets. The project has excellent logistics, being accessible by a national highway and located near Jayapura, the provincial capital. Historical drilling and sampling at the site have revealed high-grade gold intercepts, including significant results from the Sua, Mafi and Bermol prospects. Commercial terms include an exclusivity period, staged investments and the issuance of shares to the vendors. FEG must spend A$5 million within 24 months and will issue additional shares, progressing towards 80% ownership through an Indonesian feasibility study. Far East Gold Ltd (ASX:FEG) CEO Shane Menere joins Jonathan Jackson in the Proactive studio to discuss a Binding Term Sheet (BTS) with PT Iriana Mutiara Idenburg (IMI) to acquire up to 100% of the Idenburg Gold Project in Papua, Indonesia. The 95,280-hectare Contract of Work (CoW) is in a region known for significant gold and copper deposits, such as Grasberg and Porgera. Historical exploration worth more than US$25 million, including 5,531 metres of diamond drilling, indicates the project's advanced status. The deposit is orogenic, akin to notable goldfields like Kalgoorlie and South Eastern Australia. Noteworthy is that major gold producers, including Barrick, Newmont and Newcrest, have previously explored the site. Despite extensive exploration, only 30% of the CoW has been detailed and metallurgical testing shows promising gold recoverability. An independent report by SMGC suggests an exploration target of up to 7.2 million ounces at 6.1 g/t gold, though this remains conceptual. The project benefits from excellent logistics, being just 120 kilometres south of Jayapura and intersected by the Trans Papua Highway. The deal terms include staged earn-in and minimal cash payments. FEG's acquisition is facilitated by the removal of previous forestry restrictions that hindered development. The company sees this as an endorsement of its exploration capabilities and looks forward to further developing the Idenburg project. West Papuans have struggled for their freedom since they were annexed by Indonesia and robbed of their right to a fair referendum in 1969. While the independence struggle continues, it is the voice of the West Papuan women that have gone unheard. In this episode, we talk to one Indigenous West Papuan Activist, Esther Haluk to understand more about the compound plights the Papuan women face and why their voices and rights are being silenced. Esther Haluk is one of the many indigenous West Papuan women activists who have made it her mission to continue to fight for the freedom for her people by telling her story so the world can hear about the continuing mistreatments and abuse against the indigenous Papuans by the Indonesian military forces. Esther, is also a lecturer at the Walter Post Theological Seminary in Jayapura, where she teaches Gender studies and conducts research relating to women and children issues. Esther comes from Wamena, the capital town of the Jayawijaya Regency in Papua's highlands, in the Baliem Valley.
