Dr. Babak Saboury, Chief Scientific and Innovation Officer and Physician Founder of United Theranostics, discusses the emergence of nuclear oncology as the fourth pillar of cancer care.  United Theranostics is combining advanced molecular imaging and radiopharmaceutical therapies to identify a cancer cell's unique fingerprint and then delivering targeted radiation, reducing side effects by sparing healthy cells. Molecular imaging can serve as a unifying map for guiding a collaborative, multimodal approach to treating a range of cancers.  Babak explains, "I can just very quickly tell you that there are four pillars of treating cancer. Traditionally, when we approached cancer, we wanted to cut it out. That was surgical oncology. Whatever could not be cut out was treated by giving a medication. That was medical oncology. After a while, there was just a modality to the things that were difficult to cut out, but that was a localized hit from outside. That was the radiation oncology. And right now, we are at the beginning of a new horizon. You treat patients systemically, which means all the lesions everywhere. However, you are really there, a magical radiopharmaceutical that goes to find the cell and kills it by radiation. That's a nuclear oncology. So nuclear oncology is the fourth pillar of cancer care."   "So you can imagine that in the past we tried to attack cancer cells. We didn't know what shape they had, which proteins were expressed, or what their characteristics were. So we kind of went blindly and tried to attack them. Imagine that we have a way to find a fingerprint of those cells and go there first to find that fingerprint. And if the fingerprint exists, then go after those cells as a targeted attack. That is where molecular imaging and radiopharmaceutical therapy come into play. So molecular imaging profiles the cancer cells to see what their fingerprint is and whether a certain fingerprint exists. Radiopharmaceutical therapy uses this information to target just those cells and not other cells. And that is the principle of Theranostics, which is a combination of diagnostics and therapeutics, finding and then destroying in a very precise manner." #UnitedTheranostics #NuclearOncology #PrecisionMedicine #Radiopharmaceuticals #CancerCare #MolecularImaging #Theranostics #OncologyInnovation #PatientCare #HealthcareInnovation #CancerTreatment Unitedtheranostics.com Download the transcript here

We talk about the four elements of a great photograph and which two most photographers consistently get wrong, the meticulous planning behind a single night sky image, and why light pollution is far more than an inconvenience for photographers. It's a public health crisis and an ecological emergency. We also get into the alarming and largely unregulated rise of commercial satellite constellations and what they mean for the future of the night sky as a shared human heritage.Notable Links:Babak Tafreshi WebsiteBabak Tafreshi InstagramThe World at NightNational Geographic*****This episode is brought to you by:•  National Geographic Museum of Exploration - Discovery begins here.•  Luminar Neo - Try Luminar Neo today at skylum.com, and use promo code "RICHARD" for a 15% discount, just for my listeners.•  Kase Filters - My listeners can get 10% off the Kase Filters Amazon page when they visit. beyondthelens.fm/kase and use coupon code BERNABE10Follow Richard Bernabe:Substack: https://richardbernabe.substack.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/bernabephoto/Twitter/X: https://x.com/bernabephotoFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/bernabephoto

Men regimen sätter in militär mot demonstranterna.

Multi-agent AI systems are moving from theory to enterprise reality, and in this episode, Babak Hodjat, CTO of AI at Cognizant, explains why he believes they represent the future of business. Speaking from his AI R&D lab in San Francisco, Babak outlines how his team is both deploying these systems inside Cognizant and helping clients build their own, breaking down organisational silos, coordinating processes, and improving decision-making. We discuss how the arrival of optimized, open-source models like DeepSeek is accelerating AI democratization, making it viable to run capable agents on far smaller infrastructure. Babak explains why this is not a “Sputnik moment” for AI, but a powerful industry correction that opens the door for more granular, cost-effective agents. This shift is enabling richer, more scalable multi-agent networks, with agents that can not only perform autonomous tasks but also communicate and collaborate with each other. Babak also introduces Cognizant's open-sourced Neuro-AI Network platform, designed to be model and cloud agnostic while supporting large-scale coordination between agents. By separating the opaque AI model from the fully controllable code layer, the platform builds in safeguards for trust, data handling, and access control, addressing one of the most pressing challenges in AI adoption. Looking ahead, Babak predicts rapid growth in multi-agent ecosystems, including inter-company agent communication and even self-evolving agent networks. He also stresses the importance of open-source collaboration in AI's next chapter, warning that closed, proprietary approaches risk slowing innovation and eroding trust. This is a deep yet accessible conversation for anyone curious about how enterprise AI is evolving from single, monolithic models to flexible, distributed systems that can adapt and scale. Men regimen sätter in militär mot demonstranterna.
