Isaiah 55: 10-11; Rs psalm 34: 4-5.6-7.16-17.18-19; Matthew 6: 7-15.ABUNDANT FRUITS FROMTHE WORD OF GOD The title for ourmeditation today is: Abundant Fruits from the Word of God. God's work to savemankind from sins culminates in the presence of the Son of God becoming man in Jesus Christ. This divine work is a majortheme to be pondered in the heart of every believer, and especially to be moreeffective during Lent. This is to strengthenour faith in the events of Jesus Christ that we celebrate during the Holy Week.We who celebrate Easter, preparing ourselves during Lent, experience aprivilege closeness with the Lord by participating in the events of Christ.Jesus always emphasizes the principle of self-sacrifice that is to do the willof the Father to be realized in this world. That sacrifice signifies how eachof us is not just His people or His followers, but also His own brothers andsisters. He himself says that the greatest love is menifested in the sacrificeof oneself for the goodness and salvation of his or her brothers and sisters. We as children of Godthrough the sacrament of baptism that raises us to become His beloved sons anddaughters, have a special dignity of one brotherhood with Jesus Christ. Withhim, we call God in heaven as our common and beloved Father. All followers ofChrist affirm and embrace their brotherhood with Jesus, their dignity as sonsand daughters of God, and their personal and filial relationship with God asthe Father. The expression of this intimate relationship is manifested in theprayer of "Our Father". In Lent, of course wepray "Our Father" with the best quality of faith, as one form ofdiscipline in our Christian piety. This prayer confirms our brotherhood withChrist, and together with Him we greet God as "our Father". We saythis prayer many times every day because we want to strengthen our fidelity tothe One Father in heaven, who endows His gifts upon each one of us that make usremain close to Him. This happens in this way because of our communion withJesus Christ. The abundance offruits in us remain certain through the gift of God's word which is present toenlighten, strengthen, and renew the life of every believer. Jesus is no longerpresent in His body, but in His word. Through that word, each of us grows and bearsfruit, especially in the form of prayers that unite us with our Father inheaven. Prayer reveals what we do in fasting, such as forgiving and refrainingfrom falling into temptation. Through prayer we also express the intention todo good for our neighbors.Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O Father of mercy, send your Spirit to help us and to accompany us to praylike Jesus Christ. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit... In the name of the Father ...

Delivered by Nia from the Parish of Good Shepherd in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. 1 Kings 11: 4-13; Rs psalm 106: 3-4.35-36.37.40; Mark 7: 24-30.UNITY IS A CALLING The title for ourmeditation today is: Unity Is a Calling. A 75-year-old man asked the ParishPriest to be baptized and accepted into the Catholic Church. His has been a nonbeliever person. The priest gave him special preparation before the actual riteof baptism served. Shortly after joining the catechumenate, his 72-year-old wifealso asked for baptism. So the Parish Priest prepared them together. When someasked them about this, they simply said: it is never too late to believe inGod. The step taken bythat elderly couple is a true expression of unity as a calling. God does notneed unity or fellowship, but we need it so we can be united with Him. Ashumans in this world our calling leads us to come the point of that unity. Butthis is not an easy thing to do. King Solomon's failure to maintain untiy withGod is an example for us. He did not follow the example of his father, KingDavid. Solomon's greatestsin that made him condemned by God was because he followed the will of hiswives who had no faith in God. His wives worshiped gods. God's wrath reallytroubled his kingdom. When the kingdom was continued by Solomon's son, itexperienced great divisions. The punishment for sin against the Holy Spirit isa destruction and cannot be forgiven, Jesus says this in the scriptures. Solomon wasresponsible for the division and the loss of unity that had been inherited tohim with a great trust. The most obvious of which was the separation betweenthe non believers and the believers. It's commonly understood that nonbelievers are the evil ones and do not have chance to believe in the Lord. The believerswill become defiled and unclean when they interact, touch, and communicate withinfidels. There is no possibility to have relationship with those unbelievers. They are basically considered as sinners. It is precisely inthis sense we should say that the believers are the ones who create divisions.Unbelievers always try to live well as human beings and work for their livingin this world. In their hearts there are seeds of faith which are just waitingto be revealed, then they can look at and believe in God. Jesus opens the wayfor them. He opens the heart of the infidels, widening the way for them to walktoward God. Jesus is wiser and greater than Solomon, because he unites peopleof faith with those who are considered infidels. The same task that we mustcontinue at this time. Today it is not suitable to consider and treat others asinfidels!Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O Lord of wisdom, enrich us with Your wisdom, that we can create andmaintain the unity among us, and not to destroy it with division. Hail Mary, full of grace ... In the name of the Father ...

Delivered by Celine from tha Parish of Santo Marinus Yohanes in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. 1 Kings 3: 4-13; Rs psalm 119: 9.10.11.12.13.14; Mark 6: 30-34.RECHARGING ENERGY Our meditation today isentitled: Recharging Energy. There are many testimonies both directly from theperson and through social media about the danger of using a cellphone whilebeing recharged. People give warnings to one another not to make or receivecalls when the mobile phone is being recharged. They say that the cellphone canbe burnt or explode. There is already a lot of evidences about this and goneviral on the digital globe. The best advicepeople always give is that the cellphone must be idle or rested, therefore, theprocess of adding electrical energy to the battery is not interrupted by theuse of the same energy for our communication activities. That consideration hasa point, because the battery is like a warehouse. It receives the energy first, then later distributing it for various uses. The battery is not like the hosethat receives water and distributing it at once. The experience ofrecharging energy is spiritually illustrated by our readings today. KingSolomon was graced with such a great and strong kingdom from his father David. But he left behind for a moment the work of governing the kingdom and went tothe mountain of sacrifice, called Gibeon. There he prayed and made offerings toGod. In response, he received wisdom from God after he was told to make thebest wishes for him and his kingdom. A new energy really helps for a new job. Jesus and theapostles took available times for resting, praying, and strengtheningfellowship among them in the midst of their busy ministries to so many people. But in reality the people did not stop their desire to listen and askinghealing from the Lord. They continued following Jesus wherever he and theapostles went. After some moments of recharging energy, a renewed strength andenthusiasm obtained, with great love ofa Shepherd Jesus exclaimed that He was "moved by compassion for them, because they are like sheep without a shepherd." Recharging energy or addinga renewed strength to the existing ones is very important for us in the processof assuming next task, new challenge, ongoing struggle, and various kinds ofdifficulty that may come any time in our lives. As believers, we have times forexamination of conscience, confession, daily and weekly eucharist, fasting, recollection, and retreat; all these are opportunities for us of regaining ourspiritual growth. If these are just spiritual activities in our routine style,we might find ourselves like a water hose: accepting energy and let it go atonce. It is better for us to fill up our spiritual storehouse with God's powerand love, and at an appropriate time we share it to a particular need. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O Lord Jesus Christ, fill us with the same compassion as You always havefor the flock who needs a good shepherd . Glory to the Father and to the Sonand to the Holy Spirit ... In the name of the Father ...

Delivered by Kimmy from the Parish of Good Shepherd in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. 2 Samuel 11: 1-4a.5-10a.13-17; Rs psalm 51: 3-4.5-6a.6bc-7.10-11; Mark 4: 26-34.BEST SEED FORGOD The title for our meditation today is: Best Seed forGod. In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus gives a parable about God's Kingdom like amustard seed. This is the smallest seed, but then it becomes large and usefulto the surroundings. This confirms that God does not always begin the work fromthings that are great, extraodinary, or considered great by man. It isprecisely from small faithfulness—simple prayer, perhaps invisible service, adecision to remain honest, or a forgiving heart—God nurtures that will one daybecome a refuge for many. A small seed in God's hands is never in vain. Jesus also gives the parable of the seed that thefarmer sows: the seed sprouts, grows, and then bears fruit, but the farmer"does not know how it happens." Here we are invited to realize themystery of grace: man can sow, he can carry, he can persevere, but it is Godwho gives true growth. There are parts of spiritual life that cannot be forcedby human effort. Therefore faith requires not only hard work, but alsosurrender—believing that God is working quietly, even when we feel that nothinghas changed. But the journey of faith is not always smooth. Thereare temptations, weariness, and inner wounds that cause man to fall into sin.It is like a seed that has started to grow but is attacked by an outbreak, pest, or disease that threatens it to be damaged. Sin is not just a "smallmistake", but a destructive force that can rob peace, crack relationships, weaken callings, and even kill the spirit to grow. If not taken care of, bestseeds can stop developing before they have time to produce their fruits. The Scriptures show that temptation knows no status:even God's chosen King David once fell into the sin of adultery. David's fallreminds us that the human heart can be weak when it is caught off guard, feeling secure, or allowing itself to be dominated by desire. But David's storyalso states something very important: God does not stop inviting repentance. When humans fall down, the way home remains open. God's grace is able to heal, but man's responsibility is to be vigilant, honest with himself, and returnimmediately before the wounds of sin deepen. Guarding the seed of calling or vocation, then, is aserious spiritual duty. We are called to take care of ourselves, take care ofour eyes and hearts, maintain relationships, maintain discipline in prayer, andmaintain sensitivity of conscience. Because the vocation of life is somethingnoble and must be maintained. We need God's protective grace every day so thatwe are not easily carried away by the currents of the world, not to beoverpowered by the whispers of deadly enemies, and not to underestimate thesmall doors that can lead us down.Let us pray. O God of all wisdom, make us seeds that arealways ready to be grown and fruited for the good of our lives and thefulfillment of the promise to attain perfection in You. Glory to the Father andto the Son and to the Holy Spirit ... In the name of the Father ...

Delivered by Ria from the Parish of Good Shepherd in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. 2 Samuel 7: 18-19.24-29; Rs psalm 132: 1-2.3-5.11.12.13-14; Mark 4: 21-25.LIGHT OF THELAMP Our meditation today is entitled: Light of the Lamp.In Jesus' day, there was no electricity. People used lamps or torches forlighting at home and on the road. But in our day, lamps are hardly used becauseelectricity is already the light for the inhabitants of the earth. The mentionof the lamp in the scriptures and the teachings of the Lord Jesus remainsrelevant to us today, which is to put more emphasis on its spiritual message. In darkness of the world either in our houses orelsewhere, people rely on the light they have in their hands, such ascellphones, tablets, or flashlights. However, if there is noelectrical-electronic equipment available, one of the intruments that people useis lamp. A burnt candle, kerosene torch, or wood burning have the sameimportance as lamps light that easy to find in our homes. The Lord Jesus used the symbol of the lamp to teach usabout the role of every believer as a lamp that has its flame. The Holy Spirit whohas been in us since baptism always puts His fire to enable our minds open tothe words conveyed to us and make our existence relevant to all the realitiesof life that we experience. The fire of the Holy Spirit also burns and warmsour hearts to enable us see and believe in the hope whenever there aredifficulties and pains that trouble us. There is lamp and fire in every one of us. God intendsto make every man and woman His co-worker. The followers of Christ are intendedtake part in the mission of Jesus Christ. So they are God's co-workers in thisworld. The function of the lamp or fire in every person is generally twofold, namely as a light on the way to God and a light for life in the world. The path to God is not always smooth and easy. Jesushimself even says that the way is narrow. King David himself needed divinelight in order to understand and live the trust that God had put in him. Thelong journey of life is often hindered by various forms of darkness. So thelamp in every person is very useful in illuminating and guiding along the pathand we know that the way to God is the way of Jesus Christ. The world with all its circumstances often becomesdark because of all its limitations such as ignorance, discrimination, lies, violence and death. Our mission as followers of Christ requires us to be lampswith the light that illuminates, guides, and enlightens the world. May ourlamps remain burning until the end of our life in this world. Let us pray. In the name of the Father ... O Lord Jesus, fillus always with the light of Your Spirit so that we may be more steadfast inbecoming Your witnesses in this world. Hail Mary, full of grace... In the nameof the Father ...

Delivered by Maria Olivia from the Kristus Raja Parish in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. 1 Samuel 24: 3-21; Rs psalm 57: 2.3-4.6.11; Mark 3: 13-19.JESUS APPOINTED THE 12 APOSTLES The title for our meditation today is: Jesus Appointed the 12Apostles. Jesus in the Gospel of Mark chapter 3 went up on a hill and calledthose He wanted, then appointed twelve men to accompany Him, to be sent, and toreceive power of preaching the Gospel. This act of "appointing" isnot just a choosing, but a divine decision full of power and meaning. When God acts to appoint, He is teaching men about trueauthority: the power to lead, to govern, to shepherd, and to unite. God'sleadership is never intended to oppress, but rather to organize the people towalk in truth, to be preserved in love, and to grow in strong unity. We see a similar pattern in the history of salvation of theIsraelites. When God appointed David as king, he did not mean that he wasmerely "appointing a new man," but it also opened the way for Saul tostep down from leadership that was no longer in harmony the will of God. Goddoes not just change leaders, but forms a new direction for His people so thatthe course of the history of salvation remains in harmony with the will of God.David was appointed not because of his human prowess alone, but because he waswilling to be formed as a shepherd for the nation. From this we learn thatGod's decree always has a spiritual purpose: to lead people to repentance, restore order, and redirect life to His plan. So it was when Jesus appointed the twelve apostles. They werenot chosen because they were perfect, but because they were called to enter theformation process. The apostles' first task was not to do the great workimmediately, but to "be with Jesus": to be good disciples, to befaithful to the Master, and to keep learning from his heart. The faithfulnessof these disciples is the main foundation for the ministry. For one cannot be apreacher of the Gospel without first living in communion with Christ. Trueservice is born from a heart that knows God, not just from skills or positions. After becoming disciples, the apostles were sent to continueJesus' work in the world. But the mission reached its fullness when the HolySpirit was poured out on the event of Pentecost. From there the Church was bornas a living communion, not just an organization. The apostles became thebedrock of the Church, and through them, the responsibility of building upGod's people began: proclaiming the gospel, administering the sacraments, maintaining unity, and shepherding the people in love. This task was thencontinued by the Church throughout the ages, with her missionary and apostolicresponsibility: sent to the world, but still rooted in the faith of theapostles. The Church is like a spring of Christ and flows through theapostles to revive many dry places. So we are called to be faithful disciples, and to be part of the Church sent to present Christ to the world. Letus pray. In the name of the Father ... O Lord Jesus, strengthen us as membersof Your Church and lead us in the path of truth and life, so that this Churchmay be a sign of Your glory that rules the whole world. Our Father who art inheaven... In the name of the Father ...

Delivered by Celine from the Parish of Santo Marinus Yohanes in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. 1 Samuel 9: 1-4.17-19; 10: 1a; Rs psalm 21: 2-3.4-5.6-7; Mark 2: 13-17.STRATEGY TO CHANGE ASINNER The title for ourmeditation today is: Strategy to Change a Sinner. Jesus' preferential optionfor the sick, paralyzed, poor, possessed by evil spirits is as strong as Hiscompassion for sinners. Sinful persons are those who are spiritually sick.Public sinners such as thieves, rapists, prostitutes, and tax collectors, areseriously sick because they destroy and damage many people's life. Societyconseder them as bad as rubbish. Public sinners areactually those who sin openly in the community and even to their own families. They are controlled by a system applied in society. Men or women prostitute, for example, they are controlled by the burden of life and living system is thesociety they belong to. Today's Gospel introduces us a life of a public sinner, namely Levi the son of Alphaeus. He was a public tax collector who served theRoman authorities. Of course he wasconsidered very sinful because in dealing with public taxation, he cheated muchin collecting people's money and goods. People in the society really hated him,but he continued to sin because law was protecting him to do so. Levi was knownin the circle of the twelve apostles by the name of Matthew. The evangelistMatthew calls him the tax collector. Public sins are very painful and heavy forthe community and the sinner himself or herself cannot avoid it. Therefore Jesus mustinterfere in this matter. The technique that he used was to come face to face, called him by name, and not just invited but ordered him to stop that sinfullact. This implies sins that not only cause self-harm but are very harmful to manypeople and become serious sins. These kind of sins must be stopped. Serious bigsins should not be allowed to develop and spread. If they are not controlledand stopped, the one who involves in it can be considered collaborating withDevils or working for Satan. Israel as a nationwas not allowed to continue their stubborn and sinful ways. God stopped this bymaking Saul their king. A new system came to bring necessary goodness and theold system must be left behind. Jesus changes the sinners like Levi, so did thesame with many others such as Mary Magdalene and Paul, because they had thepotential to become great criminals and could harm many people. They must beused positively for the new system of faith that Jesus uses. Through baptism,Jesus Christ makes us part of the new system that He has created. The sins thatwe committed after baptism are many and of various types, but the Lord Jesushas a way to change our lives. The Church carries out this duty by becoming aninstrument for changing people's lives. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O Jesus Christ, deliver us from bad and negative habits that often plungeus into sin. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit ... Inthe name of the Father ...

Delivered by Melinda from the Parish of Saint Marinus Yohanes in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. 1 Samuel 3: 1-10.19-20; Rs psalm 40: 2.5.7-8a.8b-9.10; Mark 1: 29-39.FOR MY SAKE, GODCOMES TO THE WORLD The title for ourmeditation today is: For My Sake, God Comes to the World. The Lord Jesusexplicitly stated the reason why He came into the world, as the Gospel readingtoday says. The fact and situation of life in this world is the main reason. Each of us is part of this fact of life and we certainly have appropriatereason to exclaim: for my sake, the Lord Jesus comes into the world. By affirmingourselves in this manner, we are confident with conviction that God reallyloves every one of us. Every person is so special and important that God iswilling to come down from His place in heaven to be part of every one's life. “Whoam I, Lord, that you care for me”, the psalmist usually prays (Ps. 8, 5). Thecall to Samuel in the first book of Samuel strongly confirms that his beingchosen for a mission is the Lord's very special concern. The calling to every oneis the best gift from God. The realization of this calling also counts theparticipation of every one's fellow neighbors, especially those who help him orher in undertaking a particular job or duty. We understand this as a specialgift. The benefits and successes in vocation are often understood as anextraordinary form of God's love. People often acclaim: "This is truly ablessing from God" or "This is proper and worth achievement" or"God is on our side". All of these are enough to express our beliefthat the Lord is so good to us. How we feel someaningful and blessed that He comes and He is with us is when our lifesituation is in problem or crisis. We truly believe on Jesus' famous expressionthat only for our sake He really comes, and this becomes our real experience ofenlightenment and salvation. Those who are sick, in need, in difficulty, andsad find consolation and way of freedom. Perhaps the apostles who wereaccompanying him were curious and asked, "Are you not tired, not weary, and run out of resources by serving like this, huh?" Jesus answered firmlyand decisively: "That's the reason why I came." An answer like thisis a key to the truth in any moment of conversation. People immediatelyunderstand and do not anymore ask further questions. What are your keyanswers, for example when your are asked about your vocation, familycommitment, self-development, education, service, promise and so on? If thereis a key answer and that is the reason why you are happy, persevering andconfident in God's will for you, you will live in joy and peace. People aroundyou admire and see at you as an example. Today, strengthen and encourageyourself by repeating this: Because for this reason I am here and now.Let's pray. In the name of the Father... Lord Jesus Christ, make us able to maintain the basic reasons for our lifein the world and always give thanks to God in joy. Glory to the Father and tothe Son and to the Holy Spirit ... Delivered by Nia from the Parish of Good Shepherd in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. 1 John 2: 12-17; Rs psalm 96: 7-8a.8b-9.10; Lukas 2: 36-40.LOVE OF GOD CONQUERS LOVE OF THE WORLD Our meditation today is entitled: Love of God ConquersLove of the World. The first letter of John in today's first reading invitesthe faithful to re-examine the direction of their love and the attachment oftheir lives. The writer of the letter reminds us that Jesus Christ has forgiventhe sins of mankind through His loving obedience, even to the point ofsuffering and death. That sacrifice is not ordinary, but an act ofredemption that changes man's relationship with God. Christ bore the punishmentthat should fall upon men, that they might be reconciled to the Father andobtain new life. Therefore, the life of believers is no longer based on worldlydesires, but on love for the Lord, the Savior. In response to that redeeming love, John invites thepeople to strengthen their love for God, not for the world and everything init. The world in the sense of this letter is not God's good creation, but asystem of human desires that is selfish and takes the men away from God.Everything that comes from the world—the desires of the flesh, the lusts of theeyes, and the pride of life—do not come from the Father. When man allowshimself to be dominated by that impulse, he loses his love for God. The desire of the flesh points to an impulse thatindulges lust and unbridled self-pleasure. Eye desire is an inner attitude thatis easily attracted to outward things, position, and possession, as ifhappiness were measured by what is seen. While the arrogance of life reflectspride that is rooted in a sense of self-sufficiency, without the need for God.Even though all this is temporary and will pass, because the world with all itsdesires is heading for destruction. On the contrary, those who abide in God'slove will live forever. Love for God is not just a religious feeling, but areal life choice. It is manifested in obedience, faithfulness, and awillingness to rearrange the priorities of life according to God's will. Itgives a new direction to the way humans view suffering, sacrifice, and service. One of the beautiful examples of faith is displayed bythe prophetess Hannah in the Gospel of Luke. After experiencing a life that wasnot easy, she chose to stay in the Temple, praying and fasting day and night.Hannah did not seek comfort in worldly things, but offered her life to God infaithfulness and hope. When little Jesus was presented in the Temple, Hannahwas able to recognize God's work of salvation and praise Him. Her attitudeshows that a heart that is directed to God will be sensitive to His presence. Let us pray. In the name of the Father ... O merciful God,purify our minds and hearts from all the desires of this world that take ourattention away from You and save us from all the temptations of this world.Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost ... In the name of theFather ...

Delivered by Enge Kristina from the Congregation Community of Aloysius Gonzaga in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. 1 John 1: 1-4; Rs psalm 97: 1-2.5-6.11-12; John 20: 2-8.DEEP AND ENDLESS LOVE The title for ourmeditation today is: Deep and Endless Love. Today we celebrate the feast ofSaint John, the apostle and the author of the fourth Gospel. The Gospels tellus that John was the younger brother of the apostle James and Jesus called bothof them when they were with their father Zebedee at the Lake of Galilee. Johnalways appeared together with two other important apostles Peter and James to accompanyJesus in his public works. As we are still inthe spirit of Christmas, besides we are introduced to the profile of the crossas the way to participate in Christ and to achieve glory, we also are taught toobtain the glory of God's kingdom through a deep and unending love that wepractice. We can say that the true love is really associated with Saint Johnthe apostle. The very reason for this is that the gospel he wrote containsprofound teachings on love. For example, the teachings on the bread of life andthe good shepherd, for us are the teachings with much and profoundsingnificance on the love of God. Another reason theGospel of today shows is that John is the first of the apostles and disciplesof Jesus who understood and believed in Jesus' resurrection. His love for Jesuswas so deep that even under difficult and uncertain circumstances his understandingand faith in God never diminished. The particularity of the apostle John isrevealed in the Fourth Gospel that this apostle is the most loved by JesusChrist. This is a very strong and meaningful caracter, because he himself wroteit in his Gospel. A more acceptableopinion is that with a person who is mostly loved by the Lord but whose properidentity is not explained, it is intended to signify all the followers ofChrist: whether apostles or disciples, male or female, whether young and adult, whether educated or uneducated, whether parents or children, these areindividuals who are loved by the Lord. This means, I am personally loved by Jesus. You are also loved by Jesus personally. He also personally receives love from Jesus.Everyone basically has the right to be loved by the almighty God. It is truly wonderfulto experience the love of God given to every one of us: poured out perfectly, endures forever, and an unconditional one. The important thing is that lovecomes into your personal life and mine. When every one in every consciousnessrecognizes being loved in this manner, he or she is actually experiencing the truelove. In this Christmas season, may we be ready to receive that love from Godmore than usual, precisely at the moment with Jesus and the family of Nazarethwho live in the fullness of the love of God. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O most loving Jesus Christ and the family of Nazareth, we want to live inyour peaceful and joyful family moments, so grant us this grace. Glory to theFather and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit ... In the name of the Father ...

Judges 13: 2-7.24-25a; Rs psalm 71: 3-4a.5-6ab.16-17; Luke 1: 5-25.MIRACULOUSPREPARATION Thetitle for our meditation today is: Miraculous Preparation. Preparation is themain theme of Advent. We have reflected on the great preparation as carried outby John the Baptist and Elijah. There is also a form of preparation thathighlights God's justice with the King David, the results of which aremanifested in the person of Mother Mary and Saint Joseph. Then today we areintroduced to a form of miraculous preparation, with the main characters beingManoah's wife or Samson's mother, and John the Baptist's parents, Zachariah andElizabeth. Wecall it a miraculous preparation, and not just great, because it is close to amuch more miraculous event, namely the birth of the Savior, which is already soonto come. The miraculous event in the lives of Mary and Joseph which ismanifested in the birth of Jesus Christ, certainly must be anticipated by amiraculous preparation as well. And this miraculous preparation was the birthof Samson from his mother who was barren, as well as the birth of John theBaptist from Elisabeth who was also claimed to be barren. Zakariah, Elisabeth'shusband, is also included in this circle of miracles. Ifyou dare to ask yourself, what miracle must be prepared to welcome thecelebration of the birth of Jesus Christ this year? Something magical alwaysamazes or more precisely, something new that makes us wonder. However, havingexperience a special relationship with God does not have to be big andmagnificent. Miraculous or wonderful thing doesn't have to be somethingextraordinary. Jesus Christ, who was born in simplicity, is enough to give usan idea that miracles are the experiences of finding light and answers aboutour lives in God. Someonewrote on the social media wall about her family's miraculous preparation forthis Christmas. "My youngest child, who is already a young man, over thelast years has not been able to get along and agree with us, his parents. Justthis past day he opened up and talked to us. We actually stopped at the exactplace where our child was, so that our communication could be connected, theconversation would flow, and finally a solution to our problem could bereached. May this Christmas be a very beautiful experience in our family”. Thissmall sharing is a miraculous preparation, which of course will be aligned withthe miracle of the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. We as individuals, families, and communities need to prepare miraculously or in a new way, inorder to find that harmony and unity. If there is nothing miraculous or newexperience, wouldn't the Christmas celebration be ordinary, without anything wonderful? Let us pray. In thename of the Father... O merciful God, make us individuals and families who can renewour lives through miraculous preparation for this Christmas. Glory to theFather and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit ... In the name of the Father ...

Delivered by Monika Kimberly from the Parish of Good Shepherd in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. Isaiah 48: 17-19; Rs psalm 1: 1-2.3.4.6; Matthew 11: 16-19.IN HARMONY, INCOMPANY, AND IN LINE The title for ourmeditation today is: In Harmony, In Company, and In Line. A young child wasinvited by his father to learn to walk on the trail. His father held the littleone's hand, guiding him slowly. When the child followed in his father'sfootsteps—in harmony, in company, and in line—they arrived at their destinationsafely, even enjoying the journey. But if the child withdrew, resisted, or walkedin the other direction, he might stumble or got lost. His father remainedloving, but the journey became difficult. So is the same with God:His love always extends first. The question is, are we willing to walk withHim? When we choose to be obedient, we find that God's will always leads to joyand salvation. God presents the world and the entire journey of human life inthe rhythm of unbroken love. He provides everything in abundance: from thebreath we breathe every morning to the inner strength that strengthens oursteps in difficulty. Scripture readingsoften show that God's love is not only a gift, but also a gentle invitation forman to live in harmony with Him. God's commandments are not burdens, but thebonds that bind man together with his source of life. When God rules with love, man is invited to respond with grateful obedience. But Jesus remindsthat there is not always harmony between God's will and man's response. He takesa very simple but touching example: the musicians blew joyful songs, but thepeople did not dance; They played a song of mourning, but no one wailed. Thispicture shows the incongruity of man's mind—as if God's tone is singing, butman's heart chooses to be silent. God speaks, but man does not hear; Godinvites, but man does not rise and walk. When there is no harmony, the trueflow of grace is hampered by the rejection or inaction of the human heart. In fact, when God'swill and man's obedience meet, a harmony will be born that brings true joy.Obedience is not a loss of freedom, but rather an adaptation to the best planthat God has prepared. When man walks in tandem and in harmony with His word, life becomes lighter. There is a sense of security in every step, because manknows he is moving in the right direction. It is there that salvation is notjust a distant promise, but an everyday experience that gives peace. Let us pray. In the name of theFather... Lord, help and enable us so that we always strive to be in line withYour will and finally achieve the salvation that You have set for us. HailMary, full of grace... In the name of the Father ...

Delivered by Ellyanne from the Parish of Saint James in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. Isaiah 30: 19-21.23-26; Rs psalm 147: 1-2.3-4.5-6; Matthew 9: 35 - 10: 1.6-8.JESUS CALLS AND GIVES US HIS POWER Our meditation today is entitled: Jesus Calls andGives Us His Power. There was a nurse who worked in the emergency room of thehospital. Every day she saw people coming with various wounds and anxieties. One night, an elderly patient went into the room with a state of panic becausethere was no family to accompany him. The nurse sat for a while, clasped thepatient's hand, and said, "I'm here, you're not alone." The sentencewas simple, but it calmed the patient down. The nurse might feel that she wasdoing only a small task, but in reality she was a "shepherd" who ispresent for a lost sheep. Through her, God speaks: "This is the way, follow this way—the way of mercy." In today's Gospel, we see Jesus looking at the crowdwith a heart moved by compassion. He saw them as sheep without ashepherd—tired, lost, and thirsty for hope. Jesus' view was more than sympathy; He sees man's deepest needs, and he responds with action. Jesus does not remainsilent to see the wounded world, but He is present as the True Shepherd whoguides, heals, and gives life. There was a time Jesus called His twelve disciples. Henot only chose them, but also empowered them to do the work that hadpreviously been done only by Him: healing, consoling, casting out demons, andproclaiming that the Kingdom of God was near. With this action, Jesus entrustedHis mission to the disciples. They did not walk under their own strength, butrather carried the power that came from God. This is where we see that the callis always accompanied by the instruments God graciously gives us. Jesus' call in the days of the apostles continues tothis day. Every believer, regardless of profession, is called to be a sign ofthe presence of God's Kingdom. Some are called to be pastors in the Church, some are educators, health workers, social workers, or faithful family members. In each of those calls, Jesus gives His power: the power to love more, toendure adversity, to heal the inner wounds of others, and to be a peacemaker. We are not sent alone; It is the Holy Spirit who works through us. Often, God's call comes in seemingly so ordinarysituations. A small word, a brother's need, or a cry from an injured person canbe an invitation for us to act. Jesus calls us not because we are perfect, butbecause He wants to express His power through our limitations. Just as thedisciples were simple but sent to great work, so we are called to proclaim theface of God in the midst of the world: to bring hope, to bring joy, and to healthe wounded.Let us pray. In the name of the Father ... O Almighty God,fill us with the power of Your Spirit and enable us to do Your will as JesusChrist, our Lord and Teacher, has done. Glory to the Father and to the Son andto the Holy Spirit ... In the name of the Father ...

Delivered by Nia from the Parish of Good Shepherd in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. Daniel 5: 1-6.13-14.16-17.23-28; Rs psalm: Add Dan 3: 662.63.64.65.66.67; Luke 21: 12-19.THE WHOLE PERSON OFHUMAN BEING IS SAVED Our meditation today isentitled: The Whole Person of Human Being is Saved. The book of Daniel as ourfirst reading today depicts the king of Belshazzar and his guests who werehaving a party and looking up something that scared them. They saw the words ofGod revealed so provocatively, that was the vision of a mysterious hand writingof God's word on the wall (Daniel 5.5f). Then the king was very curious aboutthe meaning of those words on the wall. He asked the young man Daniel toexplain it. The Lord also writesvarious kinds of His word for us on this world through the writings of His chosenmessengers. They had written the word of God on scrolls made from wood skins, which were later renewed into the scriptures we have now. The word of God, inthe process of its writing, was written in an extraordinary and even rathercontroversial way. Furthermore, the word grows so wonderfully in the lives ofbelievers when they hear the word very well and faithfully, then proclaim it. Something differentfrom that moment when King Belshazzar read the word of God put on the wall, weinstead have the scriptures in our room or on our tables. The bibles haveoccupied their places there for some times. We often do not realize when thebible was written, how it was written, how long to write it and who wrote it. Amore serious and profound question is about the proper message and meaning of thepassages when someone reads it. Since many of us don't read enough, we toodon't understand any. If you like to read, you can find some messages in it. If you have been reading it so much but youremain don't understand any, it is just a common experience for most of us.Just keep reading it. From here comes curiosity. Because if people have never ordo not like to read it, of course there is no curiosity either. The king givesus an example, that we really need to have curiosity and ask questions aboutthe word of God. The disciples and apostles of Jesus also always asked theMaster, the message and meaning of God's word. In our liturgical readings of theserecent days, questions that are commonly asked are about the end times and Jesusis the one who gives firm and definite answer. In today's Gospel reading,Jesus' answer is even more emphatic, namely the price of the end times that is veryexpensive for every follower. That price is the self-sacrifice that the LordJesus has made as an example for us. He is our true Teacher who teaches byexample. A single hair costs the same as one's entire being. The whole personis so expensive and important to be saved. Eventhough we might endure all formsof hardship, suffering and persecution, every part of our whole being isdestined to be saved. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... Almighty God, put in everyone of us curiosity to Your every word andaction. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit ... In thename of the Father ...

Delivered by Melinda and Celine from the Parish of Saint Marinus Yohanes in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. 2 Samuel 5: 1-3; Rs psalm 122: 1-2.4-5; Colossians 1: 12-20; Luke 23: 35-43.THREE GIFTS FORCHRIST THE KING The title for ourmeditation on this Sunday, Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of theUniverse is: Three Gifts for Christ the King. We end our liturgical year C witha great celebration, which is the solemnity of Christ as king of the wholeuniverse. He is our King too. A king who is glorified and honored at his very solemnmoment, he must be seen in his palace and sits on his throne. Every one comesfrom all over the kingdom to worship and give thanks. Visitors do not forget tobring gifts or souvenirs for the king. This is a commonpractice in the world in terms of honoring a king. For the Lord Jesus Christ asking, one might ask: where do we go to visit and give our gifts as signs of ourhonor to Him? For sure, in this world Jesus has no palace and throne. He has nosoldiers and staff surrounding him in the palace. Our gospel of todayillustrates that the palace and throne of Jesus are the Golgotha Hill and thecross on which he hangs, in the midst of blasphemies and torments come from hisenemies. We, the members ofthe Kingdom of Jesus Christ must have the proper attitude of faith, so we cancome to visit our King without shame, hurt, and anger. On the contrary, we mustcome to pay our homage with an attitude of joy and gratitude. Why? Because Christthe King is very different from the kings of this world, which are the same asKing David, who will disappear one day with all his authority and glory. Christthe King reigns in the world and in heaven. In heaven lies His palace andthrone. His kingdom is the kingdom of Light. By looking at thecrucified Christ the King, the gifts we should give to Him should be our faith, love and hope. Leaders should be teachers of the faith, but they actuallyinsulted and cursed Jesus on the cross. We must offer true faith to our King, because in and through Him our faith in God grows and bears fruits. We believein the truth that Jesus Christ suffered greatly under the power of PontiusPilate, was crucified, died and was buried. We believe that His throne in theworld is the Cross and his disciple we embrace that Cross as our strength. The soldiersarrogantly insulted Himself as king. They are like those who have no love, though their lives are entirely as servants and helpers, but they really do nothave love in treating Jesus Christ. We must treat Jesus Christ with true love, namely through our self-denial in following the way of His cross. A criminalconvicted with Jesus joined in insulting Jesus, and this reflects how sinnersand marginal people expect salvation through the actions of Jesus Christ. Wealso have that hope, that is, we die with Christ and rise again with Him.Let's pray. In the name of theFather... O Lord Jesus, our King, strengthen us on the path of Your way of theCross until we reach salvation. May we do not lose hope of that salvation. OurFather who art in heaven... In the name of the Father...

Delivered by Ria from the Parish of Good Shepherd in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. 1 Maccabees 2: 15-29; Rs psalm 50: 1-2.5-6.14-15; Luke 19: 41-44.THE HOUSE OF GODTHAT IS DESTROYED Today's meditation is entitled: The House of God thatis Destroyed. There was a recent flood disaster that hit a village inhabited byCatholics. There stands a parish church which was built with community'sself-funded funds about ten years ago. Half of the church building wasdestroyed by the floods, along with much damage to the village. What standsfirm and is not affected by anything is the bell tower on which there is across. Every parishioner and visitor who saw the condition ofthe badly damaged church building showed sadness and shared in the grieftogether. They reminisced about the times when they worked together to buildit. They remember the wonderful times when they worshipped together ingratitude and the warmth of faith among the priest and his people. They notedthat there have been so many sacramental celebrations performed in the church. We all understand that the church is a place where Goddwells. In His public ministry, Jesus Christ sanctified every place He enteredand visited. The temple is no longer centered in one place, but is in JesusChrist who moves, walks, and reaches every home and person of those who welcomeHim. Jesus brought His own temple to sanctify all who came to or encountered. The worship and purification of God's house is clearlydemonstrated by Mattathias and his Jewish sons, as narrated in today's firstreading. King Antiochus Epiphanes forced the Jews to abandon their worship ofthe Lord God, and to follow the idolatry of the pagans. Mattathias and hisgroup resisted the imposition of the will vigorously, that following the king'swill meant destruction, while following the Lord God meant salvation. Jesus himself fell in pity and became very sad aboutthe holy place, the house of God in Jerusalem which was full of stains of sinbecause of the actions of the religious leaders and the unbelievers in a trueand sincere way. As a result of the desecration, the house will be destroyed tothe ground. In fact, God was foretelling that the kingdom of this world, represented by the magnificent Jerusalem, will in due time be destroyed. Thishappened around 71 AD, Jerusalem was really destroyed by the invaders, namelythe Romans. Later in the course of time and up to this moment, earthly Jerusalem has never lived in peace and joy. This picture is verysuitable for comparison with every person of believers who is afflicted withsin and iniquity. Destruction and damage are coming soon. God weeps over oursinful condition. We should be aware of that and we should immediately turn toGod and become again His beloved children. Let us pray. In the name of the Father ... O most loving Lord, accept our confession of lack of faithfulness to You and forgive our sins.Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit... In the name of theFather ...

Delivered by Enge Kristina from the Parish of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indoensia. 2 Maccabees 7: 1.20-31; Rs psalm 17: 1.5-6.8b.15; Luke 19: 11-28.A WAY TODEFEAT TERRORISM The title for ourmeditation today is: A Way to Defeat Terrorism. Within a WhatsApp group ofyoung people, there was an interesting discussion about crimes and evilsagainst members of the Church. There have been many bishops, priests andreligious who have offered their lives for the sake of Christ and the Gospel. There have been many lay people, families, youth and children who havesacrificed their lives just because they are Christians and members of theChurch. In general, thatdiscussion provoked feelings of fear, vigilance and anger at those crimesbefell the Christians. However, at the end of discussion, they had an agreementthat the crime basically had happened to Jesus Christ with the suffering withthe cross which was very shameful. Jesus himself promised to His followers, allof us members of the Church, that we will face various kinds of evil andsuffering. In short, the Church really experiences martyrdom as part of ourjourney of faith. In manyinstances, such cruel treatment to the members of the Church everywhere in theworld can be classified as terrorism. Today's first reading from the secondbook of Maccabees describes the brutality of terrorism. The King Antiochus Epiphanesand his men killed seven Jewish brothers: skinning their heads, decapitatingthem, frying them one by one, while other boys and their mother were forced towatch. The mother was forced to persuade children who were still alive to renouncefaith in God, or eliminate the sacred traditions of the ancestors. However, theirreaction to fight back with spiritual terrorism was stronger. They depended onthe faith in God and holy traditions to defeat the power of the king. Childrenwho were persuaded to abandon their true faith were killed as martyrs, yet theywere victorious in the power of God. Finally, the mother was also martyred. Thetrue faith of the family was so strong and had defeated the cruelty of theterrorists. Until now, there has been only way that the Church uses to fightterrorism is to remain in true faith even to the point of death. The experienceof martyrdom as described above is for us the way to increase our faith anddevelop in spiritual life. We are proud and happy as members of the Church forwe have been raised and strengthened by the blood of martyrs. We might notexperience as cruel treatment as they were in the past. But our big challenge nowis to remain and be filled in this faith. Our justification is to live in thisfaith properly and have its fruitful impact. The servants who multipliedtalents given to them, as described in the passage of the Gospel today can be theexample for us to be responsible in our faith. By taking responsibility for ourfaith when we are still on earth, we will easily be accountable for it in thehereafter. Let's pray. In the name of the Father ... A generousFather, strengthen us to be able to resist fear, discouragement and escape, butthrough the power of the Holy Spirit may we become your children to remainresponsible to do your will. Our Father who art in heaven ... In the name ofthe Father ...

Delivered by Melinda from the Church of Saint Marinus Yohanes in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. 2 Maccabees 6: 18-31; Rs psalm 3: 2-3.4-5.6-7; Luke 19: 1-10.GOD COMES INTOOUR HEARTS AND HOUSES Our meditationtoday is the entitled: God Comes into Our Hearts and Houses. Many peopleacknowledge that phone calls to personal cell phones that only appear innumbers but have no photo identity and name are better ignored. A common reasongiven is that the caller is a stranger. There are various prejudices that areimposed on strangers, for example callers who have no identity, guests whosuddenly arrive without prior notice, and people who get lost and come to us. Let us imaginefor a moment, if the stranger happened to be the Lord Jesus. Our reaction mightbe the same as we did with other strangers. But because the Lord Jesus wants tobring good news to us, He certainly gives some special signs, so that we canknow him. As happened with Zacchaeus, the Lord was the first to give thesignal. The sign began with news of him entering the city and walking throughthe city. Furthermore, through all his movements, greetings and words, peoplebecame interested and began to come to him. He toldZacchaeus in the city of Jericho that he would come to the house of that richtax collector and great sinner. Once he came there, both the person of thesinner and his home were sanctified. There was salvation happening in the lifeof Zacchaeus. Mary was visited by the Holy Spirit and made her Mother of God.We are also visited by divine grace through our birth on earth, towards a newbirth in faith when we were baptized in the house of God, the Church. It is thefamily, culture and society all together offer a human child to God. Through thatbaptism, we ourselves become the legitimate house of God. Our families fromevery house that each of us belong to, come together to make the house of God.Every person and families are then bound to the Church which is a communion ofone body with Jesus Christ as the head. Every time we gather and worship God inthe Church, it is a moment of communion of a whole, one, and universal house ofGod. After that worshiping moment, we return to our respective houses with alldaily routines always in that sense of the community of believers. If we fallinto sins for a variety of reasons, both grave and venial, many or few, thecommunion of the Church becomes disrupted and even injured. Jesus must havepity on us and put His power to improve this by visiting both ourselves and ourfamilies. The important thing is we are open and accept Him coming intoourselves and our families. Let's pray. In the name of the Father ... Lord Jesus, come and stay in me, and fill me with your peace, your presence and allgoodness. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit ... Delivered by Celine from the Parish of Santo Marinus Yohanes in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. Wisdom 18: 14-16; 19: 6-9; Rs psalm 105: 2-3.36-37.42-43; Luke 18: 1-8.GOD ACTS QUICKLY ANDRIGHTLY The title for ourmeditation today is: God Acts Quickly and Rightly. A 6-year-old girl often accompaniedher mother to shop at the market. She notices that her mother always requestsfor discount to the things being bought. What a surprise! She asks for discountmore than half of the price. When the seller objects the discounted price, themother always says: "Sorry, we have nothing, we are very poor." On one occasion thegirl used her small savings to buy something at the shop nearby. She alsowanted to ask for dicount imitating what her mother usually does. Before sayingwhat she wanted to buy, she first said to the shop owner, "Sorry, we havenothing, we are very poor." Then she showed the item she was about to buy.The shop owner took the item and gave it to the little girl for free. In this life we seemeetings between the small and big ones, poor and rich, master and servants, powerful and powerless. The screams and cries of the poor or little ones alwaysattract attention. They shout either directly to certain people who immediatelygive attentions, or openly to the public and it's up to anyone who would payattention to them. Their screams and cries can only stop after their requestsare answered or attended. God has compassionfor these people. God acts quickly and becomes their savior at the right time. They are the people who do not have supporters, defenders and protectors. Theparable of the widow and her case to be solved by the lawyer in today's gospelpassage is an example of how the divine assistance comes at the very time manreally needs. In the scriptures there are many similar examples that show God'shelps come quickly and rightly. Many of us have everexpereinced God's helps comes quickly and rightly. Some people admit that theirprayers have not been answered. Therefore, they tend to view God is not yet intheir side. Some are patient enough to wait for an answer at the right time. Some have given up because they already waited for a long time, then theybecome passive and apathetic. Some even are emotionally driven by anger orhostile towards God because they are frustrated knowing no sign of the Lord'sfavor for them. It maybe true thatthe time is not yet right. Why? Because God is using our neighbors to be thehelpers. For sure, our immediate helps should come from there. The helpsactually come from God himself, who uses neighbors who are near to us. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O Lord, we pray and we hope for the security and worthiness of our brothersand sisters who are so helpless and distress; may they find your favor andaccept all helps with gratitude. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to theHoly Spirit ... In the name of the Father ...

Delivered by Nia from the Parish of Good Shepherd in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. Ephesians 2: 19-22; Rs psalm 19: 2-3.4-5; Luke 6: 12-19.WAR AGAINST TERROR Our meditation todayis entitled: War Against Terror. Our world today and all mankind know andunderstand about terrorism. Particularly in Indonesia, the threat of terrorismis insistent and evident, and it happens almost every year. One person or groupof terror can be overcome by the government and law enforcers, but anotherperson or group comes in. The threat is so serious that the government and allthe citizens have to work together to fight it. Our Church has obligationto fight against terrorism today with much greater spiritual power, done by allher members. The Church does this with Jesus. He had done it in His publicservice in the world. On one special occasion he chose Simon the Zealot andJudas, along with ten other apostles to form an elite community of strong andfaithful men to be his “army”. Today the whole Church celebrates the feast ofthe apostles Simon and Judas who are from this community. The word"Zealot" means terrorist. This Simon came from a rebel group whofought against the Roman colonials. They were known by the name Zealots, in theGreek language named Kana'im, that means the jealousy of God. They did not wanttheir God to be disturbed by other groups. Jesus must choose strong and trustedpeople to be with Him in the war against all forms of evil in this world. Those12 apostles are the strong pillars for the foundation of the Church. Before meeting Jesus,Saint Paul often acted like a terrorist. According to the Acts of the Apostles,he pursued, arrested and sent to prison men and women who followed Christ. Heeven said this: I really acted wildly burning with anger towards Christians, whom I chased even to cities in foreign lands (Acts 26,11). The group thatspreads terror, nowadays known as the radicals, brings fear all over the world. Are we sure that Jesus has the power to change the hardest hearts of theterrorists? Jesus changed Saint Simon and Saint Paul, and to this day Heremains the same God who can change the hearts of terrorists. They not onlychanged their hearts and direction of life, but they also are made so useful asthe foundation for the building up of the Church, the house and community ofGod's people where every and all believers included. Saints Simon, Judas andPaul are now “generals” in the kingdom of God, to protect and care for ourChurch. Jesus overcomesterrorists with love. We all use the same love to overcome the terrors of eviland darkness in our community of faith. But we must be with Christ. Withouthim, we do nothing. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... Lord Jesus, our good and wise teacher, make us Your soldiers to fight andsacrifice ourselves to defeat the evils that threaten Your Church. Glory to theFather and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit ... In the name of the Father ...

Delivered by Celine and Melinda from the Parish of Saint Marinus Yohanes in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. Exodus 17: 8-13; Rs psalm 121: 1-2.3-4.5-6.7-8; 2 Timothy 3: 14 - 4: 2; Luke 18: 1-8.GOD'S WILL THAT HAPPENS The title for ourmeditation on this 29th Sunday in ordinary time is: God's Will That Happens. Prayeris the means by which we are always in contact with God. Our prayers are alwaysin the form of activities such as saying or expressing words, singing praises, doing meditation or contemplation, writing expressions of the heart, and makingcertain body movements. We always direct ourprayers to God. All our prayers arrive at the final destination in God. Thereis no further destination or place for all our prayers to arrive except to findGod and to remain in him. Once a mother explained to her son, that in God thereis a place that is so big and will never be full, although from the beginning allprayers and requests have been sending from the world to God. We pray day andnight and every time, but we have never heard or read from the scriptures thatthe place in heaven is full and can not afford anymore to load our prayers. When we pray, that's themoment our prayers reach God. Saint Bernard, in his reflection and prayer, believes strongly that our prayers go directly to God. There are no obstaclesor a long and complicated journey that make our prayers delay or lost the wayto God. What maybe often becomes our question is whether our prayers areanswered in accordance to what we want or not. Usually what we wantis a quick answer that benefits us. It is here when temptation comes. We are tempted when our desires and requestsare not yet answered. As we keep strongly our own will and demand God to followour way, this is precisely where our main weakness stands. This means that welose sight of another side the true attitude in prayer which is we must dependon God's will. We must trust in God's loving care and divine providence. So the importantmessage for us is: we express our own desires and requests through prayers, butwe leave it to God who wills to make it happen. Our duty is to pray and continueto pray. Even though we often do not stop begging and never give up, thisremains as our duty to pray to the Lord. God's duty is to listen and answer us.Sooner or later God will answer us for His time is perfect and we are simplyblessed to have all the love that we need in life. This is the will of God thathappens. We have learned infaith that God's goodness and mercy to answer our prayers is our basic truth.God never lies and never fails in His fidelity and mercy. Saint Paul's advicewould be a guide for us: we must hold on to the truth that we have received andwe believe. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O heavenly Father, may this Sunday celebration of the holy Euchariststrengthen our faith in You and sustain our love towards our neigbours. HailMary, full of grace ... In the name of the Father ...

In this Week 39 edition of the GMS Weekly Podcast, we unpack the latest ship-recycling market trends, freight dynamics, currency and steel movements, and key regional updates from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Turkey. This week's theme: Disconnect. Global Market Overview Dry bulk freight turned volatile: Baltic Dry Index ended the week with a net 2.5 % gain, driven by Capesize strength of about 5.5 %, even as daily readings slipped late in the week. Oil softened: WTI crude fell 1 % to around USD 65 per barrel, pressured by Kurdistan resuming crude exports after 2.5 years. Currencies weakened: Indian rupee dropped to INR 88.62, Bangladesh taka to BDT 122.04, and Turkish lira to TRY 41.58; only the Pakistani rupee strengthened, to PKR 282.50. Steel plate prices mostly flatlined, except India slid USD 15 to USD 409.20 per ton, weighing on sentiment. Bangladesh Chattogram stayed the quietest sub-continent market. Recycled steel failed to move, and larger LDT tonnage kept diverting to competitors. The taka closed at BDT 122.04, while 18 yards are HKC-compliant with more approvals expected next month. India Alang faced a tough week. The rupee weakened to INR 88.62, briefly near 89, and steel prices dropped to USD 409.20 per ton. Some speculative deals, like the 4,810 LDT container Niigata Trader at USD 480/LT LDT, look stretched as fundamentals deteriorate. Ongoing U.S. tariffs and sanctions continue to cloud Q4 prospects. Pakistan Gadani brightened the regional picture. Several bulkers changed hands, including Rising Harrier at USD 445/LT LDT and Puteri Kirana at USD 390/LT LDT (“as is” Surabaya). Strong local steel prices and a PKR strengthening to 282.50 support momentum, even as HKC compliance work continues. Turkey Activity remained subdued. The lira slipped to TRY 41.58, and local steel prices edged lower, keeping sentiment soft. Beach Breakdown With freight rates mixed and steel prices uneven, regional ship-recycling markets show a clear disconnect between fundamentals and bidding. Delivered by Nia from the Parish of Good Shepherd in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. 1 Timothy 1: 1-2.12-14; Rs psalm 16: 1.2a.5.7-8.11; Luke 6: 39-42.THE MOST IMPORTANT TREASURE Our meditation today is entitled: TheMost Important Treasure. When we understand the most beautiful treasure, suchas gold or diamond, we can immediately compare it to treasures of lesser value. There are so many of them. If we possess that most beautiful and expensivetreasure, we would likely not desire other lesser treasures. Gold is a symbol of supreme value andfitting to be placed on the same thought when we think about the glory of God.The purpose of today's theme of our reflection is that all of the past, wrappedin sin, are to be removed, as Saint Paul says in his letter to Timothy. His oldlife as a blasphemer and traitor of faith, totally left behind. By receivingGod's grace, he gains the most important treasure, namely Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the golden of theglory of God who enters our lives. Like Saint Paul, by throwing away all thatis old, nothing lost that we would experience. On the contrary, we obtain gold, our very valuable treasure. Jesus is so firm and constantly says that ifsomeone who does not let go everything, including those he loves most even tohimself, he is not worthy of being His disciple. The firmness of Jesus means that aperson who decides to follow Him, he should make God the first and foremostBeing to be honoured and loved. Gold must remain as gold and should not beexchanged or mixed with anything other than that. God must remain the one andholy God, He must not be lower than number one or replaced with another. Whenwe put God in His true position, as well as we in ours, we actually obey thetruth of our faith. In this line, the sin that we mustavoid in our lives is hypocrisy. The characteristic of hypocrisy in this worldcan be seen in those who claim themselves of knowing everything. Or someone whohas tendency to make himself a self-righteous person and ignoring others.Basically every human being has his or her own weaknesses, beside the qualitiesor strengths they have. The most obvious consequence of thesin of hypocrisy is that the person does not have God as gold and the mostimportant treasure in his life. He only deals with hypocrisy in one thing toanother, wanting to win and satisfy himself from one opportunity to another. The focus is only on himself and he has no chance for God. Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... Almighty Lord, through listening and understanding your word, may webecome your true witnesses in the world. Glory to the Father and to the Son andto the Holy Spirit ... In the name of the Father ...

Delivered by Gabriella Natani from the Parish of Good Shepherd in the Diocese of Surabaya, Indonesia. Colossians 1: 15-20; Rs psalm 100: 2.3.4.5; Luke 5: 33-39.GOD IS WITH US Our meditation today is entitled: God is With Us.Jesus Christ is an invisible God but becomes manifest in human form. In Him, wesee the loving, patient, and faithful face of God. The image of God is nolonger something distant or vague, but is seen in everyday life through Jesus. His every deed—healing the sick, forgiving sinners, feeding the hungry—is a sign of God's infinite love. In other words, whoeversees Jesus, he sees the Father (Jn 14:9). The God that appears in Christ is not just a matter ofthe physical, but of how He presents himself. Jesus' deeds reveal God's caringheart, and His words give new life. The Holy Spirit, sent by Jesus, is aguarantee that God's inclusion never ends. With His Spirit and Word, we are notleft to walk alone, but are always accompanied, strengthened, and led to thetruth. Therefore, when God is revealed in Christ, ourattitude is not to fast in the sense of experiencing spiritual drought, but tocelebrate His presence. The presence of Jesus is a life-giving joy. Like afriend who is present in our midst, it is not appropriate for us to be sad orclose off, but we should be grateful and joyful. The life of faith becomes acelebration of God's love, not a burden or emptiness. When we truly experience God in Christ, our most basicattitude is to welcome Him with an open heart. We are called to listen to Hisword, follow His example, and proclaim Him in our daily lives. The experienceof God does not stop at personal prayer alone, but must be seen in concreteactions: love for others, willingness to forgive, and willingness to serve. Thepresence of Jesus must be carried on through our lives. Let's imagine this. An old friend who suddenly came tovisit after a long separation. When he is present, we will certainly not sitdown, not say hello, or pretend not to see him. Instead, we will welcome himwarmly, make time for him, and even celebrate his presence. So it is withJesus. His presence is a moment of celebration of faith, not a time to closeour hearts. Let us, then, be worthy of God's real presence inChrist. We celebrate Him in prayer, in the Eucharist, in fraternity, and indaily ministry. Thus, we no longer live in spiritual drought, but in joy thatGod is indeed present, accompaniing, and bringing us to life through JesusChrist, the invisible God of the heavenly Father. Let us pray. In the name of the Father ... O God, kindle ourspirit of faith every time we hear Your words. Our Father who art in heaven...In the name of the Father ...

When you order food through Gojek or Grab in Indonesia, you're not just getting dinner delivered, but you're also participating in what has become a sophisticated digital platform economy. These food apps have fundamentally transformed how millions of Indonesians eat, shop, and navigate daily life, while generating billions in revenue for tech unicorns that now rival traditional media conglomerates in their cultural influence. But how exactly are these online food platforms reshaping Indonesian society? And what happens when we compare their impact across different cultural and economic contexts? A fascinating new study by Nadia Egalita, a PhD researcher at RMIT, offers insights into these questions through comparative ethnographic research conducted in Surabaya and Melbourne. Egalita's research reveals striking disparities in how online food delivery operates across class lines in Indonesia. While upper-middle-class families with domestic workers and dual kitchen systems allow children to order multiple meals daily, lower-middle-class households use these platforms primarily as treats for kids. Meanwhile, in Melbourne, rising costs have made food delivery a luxury that forces people back into their kitchens, challenging assumptions about technology inevitably replacing traditional cooking practices. Using innovative “digital walkthrough” methods that examine participants' actual ordering histories alongside their stated preferences, Egalita uncovers the gap between what people say they eat and what they actually consume. Her findings challenge common narratives about digital platforms isolating users, instead revealing how families bond over scrolling through menus and negotiating meal choices together. The research also offers fresh perspectives on platform capitalism, digital labor conditions, and the changing nature of domestic life in Indonesia and Australia. We'll explore how these seemingly simple convenience apps are actually reshaping everything from kitchen design to intergenerational relationships, while examining the regulatory challenges posed by Indonesia's growing platform oligarchy. In 2025, the Talking Indonesia podcast is co-hosted by Dr Elisabeth Kramer from the University of New South Wales, Dr Jemma Purdey from the Australia-Indonesia Centre, Tito Ambyo from RMIT, and Dr Jacqui Baker from Murdoch University.

Hello everyone and welcome to Episode One Hundred and Two! And while we're at it, I hope you all remain safe and healthy out there, including all the folks who are recovering in the aftermath of hurricanes Helene and Milton. Well my summer hiatus is over and it's time to start cranking out the content once again. I really needed a break, not only to get the creative juices flowing again, but to also build a little backlog of recorded episodes and to solve some technical issues. Many technical issues actually, but it's good to be back in the chair and talking with you all. As always, I am grateful to all the show's patrons who help to keep the show moving forward. And if you're out there listening and you would like to kick in a few bucks, it's easy to do, you simply go to the So Much Pingle Patreon page. You can support the show for as little as three bucks a month – less than a fancy cup of coffee! PLEASE NOTE: Starting in November 2024, Apple will be charging a 30% fee for any Patreon transactions made through an iPhone or iPad using the Patreon app. To get around this, go directly to Patreon.com, or use an Android device. In late August and early September I spent three weeks in Indonesia, starting with Bali, and then moving east to Flores and Komodo and Rincha in the Lesser Sundas chain, and then finishing up the trip with some days in southwestern Borneo. The trip was organized by Dr. Andrew Durso, who you may remember from season 3 episode 65, and Dave Davenport of EcoQuest Travel. The trip was built around the World Congress of Herpetology, held in Borneo this year, and so we had some herpetologists on the tour, including Rory Telemeco and Dan Warner. I recorded an interview with Dan and Rory at a hotel layover in Surabaya, Java, they were gracious enough to give me a chunk of their time. We talked about some of our experiences on the trip and then we got into some of the herp research projects that these gentlemen are working on. Thanks for talking with me, Rory and Dan! And thanks for listening everyone! And as always, please keep the comments and suggestions coming, and please take time to rate the show on your podcast platform! It's Friday, September 6th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Indonesian pastor dragged out of church, building closed by government On August 18th, 50 officials from Jombang Regency in Indonesia dragged a pastor from his worship site and sealed the shop where his church met, reports Morning Star News. Pastor Herri Soesanto described the government seizure of the two-story shop used by his Good God Church, 50 miles west of Surabaya, as “violent and anarchic.” The pastor said, “I never imagined the violence that government officials made, causing upset among the congregation,” adding that he was threatened with jail. According to Open Doors, Indonesia is the 42nd most dangerous country worldwide to be a Christian. Matthew 5:10 says, “"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven." Chinese spy embedded in New York Governor's office New York Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul's former deputy chief of staff, Linda Sun, has been arrested on suspicion of being a Chinese spy along with her husband, Chris Hu, reports The Epoch Times. Sun faces charges of conspiracy to commit money laundering, visa fraud, and alien smuggling. Hu is also charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering, as well as bank fraud, and misuse of identification. Sun previously worked in the office of former N.Y. Gov. Andrew Cuomo, including as his deputy chief diversity officer for two years. She is also alleged to have forged invitation letters from the N.Y. governor's office for Chinese Communist Party officials to illegally come to the U.S. and meet with American government officials. U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Breon Peace said, “The illicit scheme enriched the defendant's family to the tune of millions of dollars.” Governor Hochul expressed her outrage. HOCHUL: “These actions taken by Linda Sun were an absolute betrayal of the trust of two administrations in state government, breaking our ethics rules, and even forging my signature on documents. “But more importantly than that, this is a betrayal of New Yorkers and of the American people. Public service is a calling. It should be revered, highly respected. I am furious. I am outraged by this behavior.” Kamala's VP pick, Tim Walz, subpoenaed over $250M COVID fraud scheme House Republicans are demanding answers from Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, regarding a $250 million COVID-19 fraud scheme, viewed as one of the worst relief scams during the pandemic, reports The Christian Post. GOP Rep. Virginia Foxx of North Carolina issued a subpoena Wednesday to Walz's administration and officials within the U.S. Department of Agriculture and its Office of Inspector General. The subpoena concerns an investigation that goes back to 2022 regarding a $250 million fraud scheme by a Minnesota-based nonprofit called Feeding Our Future. The program was intended to help feed hungry children during the COVID-19 pandemic. Feeding Our Future reportedly created fake attendance rosters with the names and ages of nonexistent children and falsified invoices to create a facade of providing food to the pretend children. The subpoena cover letter addressed to Tim Walz said, "As the chief executive and the highest ranking official in the state of Minnesota, you are responsible for the Minnesota Department of Education and its administration of Foster Care Navigator Programs. Statements in the press by you, [Governor Walz] and your representatives indicate that you and other executive officers were involved, or had knowledge of … [this] massive fraud." Pastor: Jesus would've blessed mothers who abort for “loving kindness” And finally, Rebecca Todd Peters is a professor, author, and a Presbyterian Church (USA) ‘pastor.' A lover of all things baby-killing, she also serves on the Clergy Advocacy Board of Planned Parenthood. In a July 9, 2023 sermon, she lauded the positives of abortion as she preached to The Community Unitarian Universalist Church of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, reported Protestia.com. As she wore a pink stole, or priestly vestment, emblazoned with the Planned Parenthood logo, Peters lamented that pro-life Christians have gained ground in the culture war in the language around abortion so that even unbelievers view it as a bad thing or “difficult choice.” She cited Psalm 139:13-14 in which David said to God, “For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Incredibly, Peters said this. PETERS: “I can certainly appreciate the lyrical beauty of this text, as well as the descriptions in Jeremiah and Job of their certain knowledge that God was with them in the womb. “I, too, feel that I am known by God in these ways. As a woman who has born two children, I can affirm that I felt something sacred happening in my gestating body during those pregnancies. “I can also attest that I felt God's presence with me as I made the decision to end two pregnancies, and I felt no guilt, no shame, no sin.” Shockingly, on a separate occasion, Peters also made this blasphemous claim. PETERS: “If Jesus were here today, He would be an [abortion] clinic escort, distracting women from the hatred of the protesters, or an abortion doula, holding women's hands and offering support and love as they end their pregnancies. “If Jesus were giving His sermon today, He might also have said, ‘Blessed are those who end pregnancies for they will be known for their loving kindness.'” No doubt your heart is as grieved as mine over her evil remarks, spoken from a pulpit no less, as she claims to represent God Himself. Please, pray that Rebecca Todd Peters, this Presbyterian Church USA so-called pastor, would repent of her unbiblical worldview that celebrates the murder of a mother's pre-born baby in her womb.
