Guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer Tim Bovaconti knew he wanted to be a musician from a very young age. When he was just a mere lad, a fateful meeting with family friend Greg Keelor (Blue Rodeo) lit a spark that fuelled his musical passion. The flame continues to burn brightly today. Bovaconti has travelled the world as a working musician. He's performed and recorded with artists such as Burton Cummings, Ron Sexsmith, Kim Stockwood, Jerry Leger, Julian Taylor, Andy Kim, Ray Davies, and Leonard Cohen. A seasoned sideman, Tim also fronts his own band, and has 3 albums to his name. His 4th album is called Again, and will be released at Hugh's Room in Toronto on Sunday, Nov 17 (See below for ticket info.). Fresh off the bus from an extensive U.S. tour, a road-weary-but-still-energetic Tim joins host Jane Gowan at The Woodshed Studio to share some magical and memorable moments from his storied career to date. More about Timtimbovaconti.comAlbum Release Show for Again. Singer Songwriter Jerry Leger is the real deal. His combination of authentic humility and spirited self confidence is a rare thing to witness. He possesses a deep understanding and respect for the great songwriters and performers of our time, while forging ahead with his own style and delivery. Since his teenage years, Jerry has worked relentlessly on his craft - releasing at least one album a year, always with another gig or a new project on the horizon. On any given night, you can find him performing with his band The Situation, his rock and roll outfit The Del Fi's, or holding the crowd on his own - just him and a guitar.  In this conversation, Jerry talks about life, influences, the art of the song, honing his craft, and what it takes to keep the lights on. Strongwriters On Songwriting: with Eric Bjarnason Martin and Scott B.

JERRY LEGER Leger has a thing for ghosts. The Toronto singer/songwriter confirmed it a couple of years ago when he went on a personal journey to explore many of Ontario's largely unknown ghost towns, having been inspired by the writings of historian Ron Brown. Leger has immortalized one of those towns, Burchell Lake, on his new album Time Out For Tomorrow, containing 10 portraits of the impermanence of life, love, or simply catching a glimpse of a shooting star.Yet, other ghosts reside much deeper in Leger's songs. Whether they're the voices of Roy Orbison, Lou Reed, Gene Clark, Rick Danko or Ronnie Lane, they naturally complement the universal truths at the core of Jerry Leger's music, along with his undying faith in rock ‘n roll as a way for all people to find common ground.

Producer Kevin Dietz has once again offered his services to the winner of CBC Searchlight 2017, as part of our Canadian Musician Career Booster Prize Pack. Dietz is the head engineer at Mississauga's famed Metalworks Studios and worked with artists from Tom Cochrane and Randy Bachman to Alexisonfire and Silverchair. We'll talk about his work with last year's winner, Desiree Dawson, how artists can best prepare for a studio session, and more. Jerry Leger’s new album, Nonsense And Heartache, showcases a combination of primal rock and roll and raw, confessional balladry. The separation between the two is evident by the album’s title, and it is in fact two distinct collections of songs presented on two slabs of vinyl. In many ways, Leger’s artistic path has been leading up to this ambitious display of both sides of his musical personality, fueled by countless nights playing in Toronto bars with a loyal band equally committed to keeping rock and roll’s original flame burning. Apocalipstick is the follow up to The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer's 2014 release A Real Fine Mess, which received considerable recognition, including a Blues Album of the Year JUNO nod and win for the Blues Album of the Year and Alternative Album of the Year at the WCMAs. As the band explains, the new album came together "from the desire for companionship, the endless pursuit of tone, the strength and glue of family, and above all, the love and admiration for each other's skills." We'll unpack exactly what that means and what's to come for the duo.
