La suite de la soirée alterne entre énergie brute - Cage The Elephant, Viagra Boys, System Of A Down - et envolées mélodiques avec CMAT, The Mamas and the Papas, et The Cramps. Down With Boring's latest episode is here, with everyone's favourite Swedish troublemakers in tow. Viagra Boys are our special guests. With their brand new self-titled album ‘viagr aboys' set to drop on 25th April, the Stockholm post-punk outfit are checking in for a chat and a dose of their trademark chaos ahead of its release. Meanwhile, we're going over Black Country, New Road's new album, and blasting through some quality new music from the likes of CMAT, Wet Leg, VLURE, Black Honey, Little Simz, and more. Expect bangers and the usual not-so-boring ‘shenanigans' – basically everything you need to spice up your day.

L'émission s'ouvre sur Fontaines D.C. avec "It's Amazing To Be Young", annonçant peut-être un futur album. In this final Changes Focus of the series we are focusing on Bodies, one of the topics from our popular mini series earlier this year which seemed to resonate with so many of you. With that in mind we've pulled out some of the highlights. You'll hear from the brilliant musician (and fellow Dubliner) CMAT, who gives her refreshing perspective on body image and being a female pop star. We've also got the fantastic writer Marian Keyes who talks about her journey with self acceptance and brings some home truths around being honest about ageing and botox. Journalist and author Afua Hirsch shares some shocking revelations on the origins of when and why we started to remove our body hair, and the internets go to gynaecologist and author Dr Jen Gunter answers one of our listener questions on sex after giving birth and cultivating desire in a relationship. This is the last episode of Digging for a while, and we're celebrating with the queen of vegetables… potatoes! Flo is joined by CMAT for her favourite job on the allotment. CMAT is a fast rising singer songwriter from Ireland who has been tirelessly touring Europe and North America with her incredible live show for years now. She's just been nominated for the Mercury Prize, adding that to her list along with Ivor Novello and Brit nominations. The irony of having the only Irish guest of the season harvest potatoes is not lost on CMAT, who considered her superior harvest some form of reparation. In this episode she and Flo talk about pretty much everything, but highlights include CMAT's refreshing love of fame, growing beans in Red Stripe tins and the art of songwriting - all whilst they dig up those unfortunate potatoes. Welcome back! Whilst we pride ourselves on being candid, this episode we get a little more serious as we are discussing boycotts and art washing. We're gonna focus on the boycott of SXSW (sponsored by the US Army) and Barclaycard sponsored events such as The Great Escape, Lattitude and other Live Nation/Festival Republic festivals. Many artists scheduled to play The Great Escape boycotted the festival in solidarity with Palestine, however Irish trio Kneecap didn't. Alfie and Fionnán discuss Kneecap's reasons to not boycott the festival and why they instead pointed the finger at the company behind the sponsorship, Live Nation. Whilst on the subject of Live Nation, CMAT was among artists and performers who publicly announced that they won't be playing their planned sets at Latitude because of their sponser, Barlcaycard. This episode the lads try to answer the question, do boycotts work? It's good news as this year artists have proven that they have power to make positive change. But does it come at a cost? My heart fails at times And longs for deep, endless sleep In dreams I escape Courage is found in failure So, breath and open your eyes I sat down with Jackie Pack and we discussed courage including what it means and how we recognize it. We also discussed Brene Brown's statement: "I don't think we can get to courage without the capacity to deal with uncertainty, risk and emotional exposure." I'd love to hear what you have to say about the episode including thoughts on the poetry and the topics that were discussed. You can email me at poetdelayed@gmail.com. Galway artist Niamh Regan released her second album Come As You Are on May 31. On this episode we talk through all 10 of its tracks, as well as a not-very-secret hidden track, plus some of the fun things that she's experienced since releasing debut album Hemet in 2020. -- From the press release: Since its release, Niamh has embarked on headline tours from Ireland, to UK, Australia, Spain + more. Pairing this with many festivals and a variety of support opportunities with artist such as CMAT, Villagers, John Grant, SOAK, Patrick Watson, Sam Amidon, Cormac Begley, and Sorcha Richardson. In between her performances, Niamh began to write her second record in Attica Studios with producer Tommy McLaughlin. She says, ‘I arrived in Donegal to meet Tommy for the first time with a bunch of demos, half-baked ideas and feeling not ready, it was scary. But I'm so glad that I did it that way. Trusted the process and came into the studio with the intention of capturing exactly where I was with it all and Tommy helped me build from there.' And here we are, with the release of that second album, titled ‘Come As You Are'. It's an album full of acutely observed vulnerabilities and introspection. Its themes are the issues that many of us find loom large in the small hours: questions of self-doubt, uncertainty about your life's direction, whether relationships are flourishing in the way you'd hoped and determining priorities. “A lot of it is about being in your late twenties and kind of realising we're all running out of time,” she ponders. “I'd have bouts of massive self-belief in the studio, and then in the next breath I would be like, ‘This is the worst piece of music I could have even imagined.' It was a rollercoaster. But through that I found self-acceptance; this is where I'm at and making peace with that. That's what the album essentially is, just making peace with where I'm at and being realistic with myself.” -- Niamh Regan tour dates: June 13: Windmill Live Show w/James Vincent McMorrow, Dublin (solo) June 16: Doolin Folk Festival (full band) July 16: Galway International Arts Festival (full band) July 25: Song Room, Wexford (solo) August 2: All Together Now August 12: Kilkenny Arts Festival (solo) August 17: Electric Picnic (solo) November 14: Cyprus Avenue, Cork (full band) November 15: Liberty Hall Theatre, Dublin (full band) -- Buy Niamh Regan - Come As You Are: https://niamhregan.bandcamp.com/album/come-as-you-are

To open a new mini series on Bodies we welcome boundary pushing musician, CMAT whose low cut, bum crack exposing dress created one of the most viral moments at the BRIT Awards this year. Her unapologetic attitude towards body image caused a storm on the internet attracting a wave of opinions.CMAT, real name Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson is a one in a million artist. She writes songs that are both hilarious and heartbreaking, and she is utterly captivating on stage. She's a future superstar in the making. Both of CMAT's albums have gone straight to number 1 in the Irish Charts, she is part of the BBC Sound of 2024 longlist, she has been described by NME as Dublin's answer to Dolly Parton and she was at the Brits this year having been nominated for Best International Artist alongside Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and SZA. This is the first of three open and candid conversations in our Bodies mini series in which we explore body image and weight, unrealistic beauty standards and ageing covering everything from menopause to weight loss and much more. Here, Ciara talks to Annie about her changing relationship with her body from her teenage years experiencing acne and eating disorders to being a pop star in the spotlight. They discuss a wealth of issues including societal pressures and social media, the problem with capitalism and Ozempic diets. Ciara is completely unfiltered and very funny. We hope that you will leave the conversation feeling relieved that you are most definitely not alone when it comes to any thoughts you may have about your body and inspired to care less. Content warning: eating disorders/anorexia, addiction to painkillers.Buy CMAT's music and find her tour dates here: https://cmatbaby.com/GET IN TOUCHContact us at changespod@gmail.com with your emails and voice notes.Changes is a deaf friendly podcast, transcripts can be accessed here: https://www.anniemacmanus.com/changes Hosted on Acast. On this week's Talkhouse Podcast we've got two songwriters whose music bursts with personality, but in oddly different ways: CMAT and John Grant. CMAT is the stage name/alter ego of Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, who's already hit it pretty big in her native Ireland with funny, frank, and flamboyant songs about break-ups and time travel and everything in between, I guess you might say. She was recently nominated for a BRIT Award for Best International Artist—she wore a jaw-dropping dress to the ceremony—and her second album, Crazymad, For Me went to number one in her home country as well. Now she's ready to take on the States a bit, to see if her music—queer-friendly, over-the-top pop—can make as big a splash here. Check out “Where are Your Kids Tonight,” which features today's other guest John Grant, and catch CMAT on tour in the US right now. Dates are at cmatbaby.com. John Grant is a tough guy to explain: On the surface, his music can sound like party-friendly electro-pop, but the themes and lyrics run deep and often pretty intense. Grant started out in the Denver band The Czars, but it wasn't until he spread his wings as a solo artist—starting with 2010's Queen of Denmark, which he made with help from members of the band Midlake—that he really found his unique voice. Since then it's been a series of fascinating records with a series of fascinating collaborators, including Cate Le Bon, who produced his 2021 album Boy From Michigan. Grant just announced the release of his sixth album, The Art of The Lie. It comes out in June, and it promises a no-punches-pulled look at America in 2024, yet with some funk to help ease the medicine. Check out the song “It's a Bitch” right here, and you can pre-order the whole record at johngrantmusic.com. In this conversation, Grant and CMAT have pretty dissimilar demeanors—she's brash, he's a more quiet sort of intense—but it works: Clearly these two are fans of each other's work, as you'll see, and they have a great chat about language, the ugliness of social media—especially for queer and/or female artists—and CMAT's ass crack, which was “pixelated by the Daily Mail.” Enjoy. Thanks for listening to the Talkhouse Podcast, and thanks to John Grant and CMAT for chatting. If you liked what you heard, please follow Talkhouse on your favorite podcasting platform, and check out all the goodness at Talkhouse.com. This episode was produced by Myron Kaplan, and the Talkhouse theme is composed and performed by the Range. See you next time!
