Although the ever-enigmatic Sam Moss is not a great swimmer, he named his latest album 'Swimming.' The folk singer with a gentle demeanor is back with thoughtful songs and captivating melodies. Hailing from New England, Sam has carved out a unique niche in the folk world, blending naturalistic themes with an introspective approach to songwriting. We explore how his New England roots continue to influence his music – despite his current residence being Virginia – and how his upbringing in a family of visual artists has shaped his artistic sensibilities.Sam also talks about how movement and the natural world inspire his songwriting, if not with more oblique lyrics. We dig into his latest album 'Swimming,' where he boldly embraces more direct lyrical expressions; we discuss the balance between mood and narrative in his work, too. Our Basic Folk conversation touches on his journey from a shy young musician to a confident performer, as well, thanks in part to the encouragement of close friends like Jackson Emmer. He counts Emmer, who he played with in old-time duo The Howling Kettles, as one of his greatest inspirations for following his own creative arrow in music.Elsewhere in the episode, we explore Sam's passion for woodworking, a skill he honed as a respite from musical burnout. He describes the satisfaction of crafting tangible objects and how this practice complements his musical endeavors. We also really dive into his feelings around the word "gentle," which is often used to describe his music and persona. He doesn't actually mind being known as a gentle person– in fact, he hopes people do find his music soft and tender and, in that gentleness, that they still leave feeling his songs' striking impact.Follow Basic Folk on social media: https://basicfolk.bio.link/Sign up for Basic Folk's newsletter: https://bit.ly/basicfolknewsHelp produce Basic Folk by contributing: https://basicfolk.com/donate/Interested in sponsoring us? In this episode of the Success Fundamentals Podcast, Kris Sykes and Brian Goldsack talk to Sam Moss, co-Founder of 1Click Agency, which focuses on website development for B2B SaaS companies. Sam grew up with the idea of entrepreneurship in his head and has since learned never to let go just because results may not be happening for you immediately. Sam's main virtue is patience, and he knows how to play the long game. In this episode, Sam also shares his approach to marketing and how he thinks the future of B2B marketing will look like in a few years. HIGHLIGHTSEntrepreneurship is not for everyoneFocusing on website development for B2B SaaS companiesThere's always other options out there Customers don't care about your story Live your life now, now when you're 70Batch your tasks and get a groove goingTake your time and get the work in Money is a tool Why throw in the towel when you've come this far?Marketing can also be about helping people B2B brands are going to become more engaging soonQUOTESSam: "Get yourself into a routine and start getting things done. Because this work from home life for most people, like, you have kids running around, you have family at home. It's a little bit louder, it's easier to get distracted. But get your head down, get what you need to get done and that opens up your schedule if you think about it."Sam: "Money to me is a tool, and it sure makes life a lot more fun if you have a lot of it."Sam: "People are typically right around the corner from their breakthrough. And if you have proof of concept for what you're doing, as in like if it's a bad idea -- sometimes you do need to quit and move on, but if you have proof of concept, let's say you're building a business and there's product market fit, you have a product that people will like, for me that means  we should continue."Sam: "What's interesting is everything that happens in the B2B world is typically already going on in the B2C world two to three years beforehand. So we kinda have a cheat code as to what's going on. Things that are coming down the pipe for B2B would be brands being more personal and more interactive with their buyers in a fun way."Follow Sam on the following links below: Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sam1ca/Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/b2b-made-simple-a-b2b-marketing-podcast/id1461772424Website: https://1clickagency.com/Follow Success Fundamentals on the following links below: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4XCvuwxnFi5_7C6Ncm12xQLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/success-fundamentals™Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/successfundamentalspodcast

Our guest today is Sam Moss of 1Click Agency. Sam will share key principles about creating a buyer-centric website and why it is so important in B2B. We are going to learn about how to leverage content, design, and how to really think about that website so that it becomes a critical part of your marketing and sales strategy. Especially important, is that you really think about making the necessary investments the smart way so that when you need to redesign your website, you know what to focus on and what questions to ask when you're looking for help to pull it off. Sam Moss co-founded 1Click Agency at the beginning of 2016. What started as a side business with many services, quickly turned into a focused, full-service website design and development agency with a team of 13 developers. Sam also hosts a podcast, B2B Made Simple; a great listen if you are a marketer at a B2B SaaS or tech company! Not just B2B marketers but ALL marketers should consider doing a website audit before making a handful of changes to the site or doing a redesign. Sam Moss does a great job talking about website audits: It's more of a conversion audit, more or less, which means... 1. We go over the content of the website 2. The flow/structure 3. The design 4. The customer experience that they're going to go through 5. Then we give feedback to the company or the marketing team on what can be improved Basically, we provide this to give a second pair of eyes for your marketing team or for your company. That second pair of eyes that can say, yes, you're either doing it right, or here are some key areas that you can improve. It's tough for you to see what customers are experiencing. We give some corrective criticism, we record the call and then we shoot it over to them. P.S. When it comes to website audits, Sam's recommendations are on point. And he won't promote this but I will (LOL), check out his new website. He just went through a website redesign and it looks amazing. I'm personally using his website as inspiration for my prospective clients. ==== If you enjoyed this podcast, leave a 5-star rating on Apple Podcasts! :) Sam's website: 1clickagency.com Send me a direct message on LinkedIn! linkedin.com/in/jesus-mcdonald
