We were lucky enough to get to sit down with this possible missing link in several cold case files and take him down the path to enlightenment so that you can laugh your way to a higher consciousness.    Jim Gillespie on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thejimgillespie/   Two Jacked Bros is the only comedy podcast that injects honest, unfiltered, and truly enlightening conversations into your soul. Sidney and Ansley truly believe that every personality type can achieve a higher consciousness without becoming unfunny soft-talking dorks about it.  If you like to laugh at inappropriate things but also think your sense of humor doesn't exempt you from opening your chakras wether you know what a chakra is or not, then Two Jacked Bros is your vibe. Jeff & Kim review slasher-lite "I Know What You Did Last Summer" from 1997. Kim also educates us on another British crime drama from the BBC called Whitechapel, in which detectives in London's Whitechapel district deal with murders which replicate historical crimes. Jeff also admits his favorite brain-off TV show is the Bob Barker-era of The Price is Right, which has a dedicated channel on PlutoTV. I Know What You Did Last Summer is a 1997 American slasher film directed by Jim Gillespie, written by Kevin Williamson, and starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prinze Jr. It is loosely based on the 1973 novel of the same name by Lois Duncan and is the first installment in the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise. The film centers on four young friends who are stalked by a hook-wielding killer one year after covering up a car accident in which they killed a man. The film also draws inspiration from the urban legend known as "The Hook" and the 1980s slasher films Prom Night (1980) and The House on Sorority Row (1982). Blame Brenna for this pick! After learning about Lois Duncan's real life history, Brenna wanted to tackle the author's infamous hit and run thriller, I Know What You Did Last Summer, which is both completely different and simultaneously very similar to the film adaptation by screenwriter Kevin Williamson (see previous minisode). We're joined by Jes Battis to dissect the book's problematic ableism and fat phobia  (curious because Duncan updated the book in 2010), the queer coded relationship between Barry and Ray,  and why Barry is the worst. Then in the film, we're talking the female focused friendship, Sarah Michelle Gellar's nuanced performance as Helen, Jennifer Love Hewitt's Julie as a bad Final Girl, and Freddie Prinze Jr's queer friendly (but also dumb) portrayal of Ray.There's a lot to unpack! But, most importantly, Brenna actually liked both of these and wasn't scared!Wanna connect with the show? These films are teen psychosexual horrors which is why we’ve paired them together, and we’ve got some thematically linked questions about relationships to go along with them. Content warning: discussion of sexual violence, and mental health issues. If you'd like to send in an agony aunt questions, any recommendations, or any sponsorship offers, please contact  breakinguppodcast@gmail.com or you can follow us on instagram at  @breakinguppodcast and can dm us questions there.

Enjoy!

From director Jim Gillespie of I Know What You Did Last Summer, this swampy flick stars Agnes Bruckner, Meagan Good, Jonathan Jackson and Laura Ramsey as teens who are getting picked off by Ray Crawford, who was recently possessed by evil snakes. Are these teens the only people who live in this town? Why isn’t this movie about CeCe? What exactly is the scope of this guy’s strength? WHY WON’T YOU LET GO OF HER LEGS EDEN!? We’re left with so many questions!

This week we watch 1997’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer!” Put on your metal arm band and spike your hair real high as we talk about the ultimate 90’s triple acronym squad (except Ryan Phillippe, he only has two initials (Shyamalan twist we pronounced his last name wrong [on 2 accounts] the entire episode)), CRUEL INTENTION SPOILERS, gateway brain teaser problems, and give a special shoutout to our friends string cheese and mirrors. Turn on your melodramatic 90’s music, slap some sunscreen on and be sure to rate and subscribe our the dude in a sweet, sweet, duster will come and fish hook ya. It's the week of Independence Day and with us already discussing JAWS, there weren't many other patriotic horror movies to watch, so why not watch what is essentially an R rated Lifetime Channel movie? After marrying his teenage sweet heart and having two children by their early 20’s, Jim Gillespie and his wife reached a crisis point of differences which led to divorce. Later, he and his wife were able to renew their love and remarry but that wasn’t the end of their struggles. Jim pursued careers in several lucrative businesses only to end up bankrupted and jobless on more than one occasion.  Together, they faced enormous medical problems fighting diabetes and breast cancer.  The toll this took on them physically, emotionally, and financially was exhausting.   Most people dealing with these mountain-sized battles would have thrown in the towel long ago. What was it that enabled Jim to push through and come out stronger and with a greater sense of peace now more than ever? Jim answers those questions in today's podcast. Jim serves in many capacities but is Kansas City’s Executive Director for I Am Second, a web-based resource to share the love of Jesus through celebrity testimony. Are you carrying heavy burdens today?  Are you searching for peace in the midst of a storm? God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness.  All we must do is place our trust in his Son Jesus Christ and you too will discover the grace of God, even in the midst of difficulties.
