Send us a textTyrion gets to know his new traveling companions, and, by dint of his cyvasse skills, some secrets about their mission. Mackelly and Simon consider their opening gambit.Chapter Review:Tyrion Lannister wakes early on the Shy Maid. He watches with undisguised interest as Septa Lemore bathes in the river. She shows signs of having given birth at some prior point, but remains an attractive woman. Ysilla makes breakfast and keeps all at bay, with the exception of Young Griff whom she plies with more than he needs.Duck spars with Young Griff, Haldon teaches him languages, geography, geometry, and history. It seems that Tyrion will contribute to this expansive education: he's been tasked with writing down all he can recall about raising and breeding dragons. Haldon offers Tyrion a game of cyvasse while Young Griff studies further with Septa Lemore. Haldon has beaten Tyrion every previous game, so he eagerly accepts Tyrion's wager that the loser must share some secrets. Tyrion hustles to victory and when a giant turtle, known as the Old Man of the River, bellows close by, Tyrion thinks that wonders often herald the arrival of kings.Characters/Places/Names/Events:Tyrion Lannister - Youngest son of Tywin Lannister whom he recently murdered. Top regrets of my life: Not splitting these Jon chapters to make more than two episodes, because WOW. What a ride. Griff decided to add an extra syllable to make himself a "griffin," once more. That's right, Jon Connington is back, and he's taking prisoners (it's his family). Welcome home, how's it feel to be back, strolling down memory lane? Well, Jon Con's got thoughts on that. We have waited six years to finally get to this POV... but that's only half as much time as Jon Connington has been pretending to be dead.
E qui entriamo in gioco noi lettori a speculare: chi è davvero Septa Lemore? Art by:1) The Shy Maid vs. the Stone Men by Lukasz Jaskolski (Fantasy Flight Game)2) Shireen Baratheon by sprrw3) Jon Connington by David ClarkeLink utili:1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7IK_anVvh42) https://www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/fwt3vb/foreshadowing_a_grey_plague_outbreak_in_westeros/3) https://www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/25mqvh/spoilers_all_the_iron_islands_were_once_a_leper/4) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRzcn1AcjGE&t=8s&ab_channel=IlmondodelGhiaccioedelFuoco5) https://maidenvault.wordpress.com/67-2/shrouded-lord-tyrion-and-aegon/6) https://www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/34cmc1/spoilers_all_about_the_unpublished_shrouded_lord/7) https://grrm.livejournal.com/22998.html?thread=27071588) https://gizmodo.com/george-r-r-martin-explains-why-well-never-meet-any-god-58229399) https://meereeneseblot.wordpress.com/2013/12/07/paying-his-debts-part-ii-sorrows-whores-and-a-game-of-cyvasse/10) https://www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/3xdi9z/spoilers_all_vic_and_the_shrouded_lord/11) https://www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/4ld3nw/spoilers_everything_who_is_the_shrouded_lord/Supportate il canale in cambio di contenuti esclusivi: https://www.patreon.com/LaCittadellaQui trovate tutti i link del canale e dei suoi host: https://linktr.ee/LaCittadella
This week, a breather. By which I mean we come in at just under three hours! The end of the Dance keeps coming as we hit double Meereen, have double returns, and one hell of a big event in the North. Today we start large as Jon Snow opens the Wall and allows the wildlings to finally enter the Seven Kingdoms, Barristan Selmy watches the political fallout in terms of Meereen vs Yunkai, Quentyn Martell reveals a hell of a plan while ignoring his much smarter friends, and Jon Connington returns to the shores of Westeros in the name of conquest. Today's chapters are: - Jon XII - Barristan II/ The Discarded Knight - Quentyn III/ The Spurned Suitor - Jon Connington II/ The Griffin Reborn Jump ashore on the Isle for an indepth dive on Jon's dream of protecting the Wall, the gloom of a snow sky, and what it means for the people leaving their world behind. Elsewhere we muse on Hizdahr's intentions (again) and lambast Barristan for his poor thinking and underappreciation of both Daenerys and Quentyn. Speaking of, we ignore Quentyn to admire the wisdom of his friends, specifically Gerris Drinkwater and his focus on life over death. Finally, we finally get to talk Stormlands! And castle assaults! As well as Rhaegar, the potential evil of Jon Con, and how all of Westeros will react to this growing invasion. Check out History of Westeros for the live streams and main analysis: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiYwENpLDO4gyB4dBrMYrjQ Please do consider giving us a rating or review if you can, and find more of the Isle of Faces and other projects at https://www.patreon.com/IsleOfFaces https://twitter.com/SerBuckley Thanks as always!
It's another three chapter week as we hit Volantis for the longest outing of the book. Tyrion starts a new part of his journey (again) and Jorah gets owned by the Widow (ha!). Back in Westeros Jon is having a rough time in the training yard, a harder time reading letters, and the hardest time with his Ghostie, and then we forget all about that as we reach one of the very best chapters in ASOIAF: Davos IV. It's a bitter goodbye, but what a damn send off in terms of speech, drama, and excitement Our chapters today are: - Tyrion VII - Jon VI -Davos IV Hop aboard the Isle for how Volantis is prepped for a chaotic slave rebellion, how Jorah is a dullard with rocks for brains and what he might think of Jon Connington. We review the Kill the Boy/Send everyone Away strategy of Jon Snow before wondering if songs/music are the key to both dragons AND direwolves (clue is in the name), before a long old chat on the wondrousness that is Davos IV. The speech, the plans, THE SPIRIT OF THE STARKS RETURNING. It's all in there this time. And of course, we wave goodbye to the best. Welcome to a brand new era of the Dance! For one day only we abandon the mighty triforce to focus on not one but TWO brand new POVs, with a second chapter for a fella we've only just met. Against a backdrop of establishing what's coming to Meereen in the second act we see Tyrion's suggestions come to fruition in the Golden Company as the fate of the world is changed, we see how brutal battle can be in Astapor, even for a winning side, and then back in Westeros we get even luckier as we return to a fan favourite: Asha Greyjoy. And while she shows off vulnerability, leadership, and fury, the war in the north truly begins with a battle in the trees: Today's brand spanking new chapters are: - The Lost Lord/ Jon Connington I - The Windblown/ Quentyn II - The Wayward Bride/ Asha I Hop aboard the Isle for a chin wag on the wary empathy we can have with Jon Connington and his sense of loss, the moral make-up of the Golden Company and what it means for Westeros now they are coming, I thank George for the viewpoint of a newbie in war, there's a big look at how RIDICULOUS the Yunkish warlords are, plus analysis of the Theon the Latecomer idea, and how the North itself is made an actual enemy fighting against Asha, as well as lots of talk about how awesome she is in general. The Stormlands is primed to be one of the most exciting places to watch when we finally get The Winds of Winter. Not only is there an ongoing Golden Company invasion, but the looming taking of Storm's End and possible return of Edric Storm, Jon Connington's crusade, Arianne Martell's spelunking adventures, and the fate of Young Griff will have wide ranging effects on the rest of the story. Tread Perilously performs television necromancy by discussing the nearly forgotten SeaQuest DSV and its "haunted" episode "Knight of Shadows." Late one night, Captain Nathan Bridger recounts recent events to the hologram of his deceased wife. Seventy-two hours earlier, Bridger's hologram machine receives a message containing coordinates. The heading indicates it may be the resting place of the George, a long-lost ship with a spitting resemblance to the RMS Titanic. The SeaQuest crew discover it has a bubble of air and a number of skeletons. And if that wasn't eerie enough, Dr. Westphalen quickly becomes possessed by the spirit of a passenger named Lillian. But is the real secret behind this haunting horrifying or "heartwarming?" Erik and Justin remind themselves of SeaQuest's premise while Justin suggests the episode writer may not have been familiar with haunted house stories. He also issues a disclaimer: his opinion of the character Jonathan Brandis plays in the episode does not reflect Justin's opinion of Brandis himself. Erik can't get over the fact the show just bold-face declares that ghosts are real. He also turns Jon Connington into the Red Robin of Westeros. Justin accuses actor Royce D. Applegate of being a landlubber and it's probably not a huge leap to guess SeaQuest will return to Tread Perilously.

Things we go on tangents about that are only vaguely related to this episode: A Song of Ice and Fire's Jon Connington; Geralt Witcher's fat tiddies; our cat Merlin; how our parents met; what racial slurs Australians use; and Animal Crossing: Wild World. It's a veritable pinata of an episode!

Tread Perilously finally makes its way to Westeros with the final episode of Game of Thrones. And though we didn't know it during our recording, the episode was called "The Iron Throne." When Jon Snow is advised by just about everyone that his aunt -- the Mad Queen Daenerys Stormborn Targaryen the Unburnt, First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals, The Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains, and Protector of the Realm -- will definitely kill him at the first opportunity, the Prince of Indecision debates the merits of killing her first versus his own desire to see her naked again. After he finally makes a decision, the Realm must deal with the repercussions. Despite a Targaryen plot against Tread Perilously's sound quality, Erik points out the absence of Jon Connington, Little Aegon, and a few other Ice and Fire characters. He also admits he missed one episode of the series. Justin discusses the difficulty with endings. He also praises the visual excellence of the episode. Superior air power comes into play. Erik loses his mind over the sudden appearances of Edmure Tully and Quentyn Martell. Issues of plot convenience are discussed and Daenerys's heel turn is examined at length. Also, Erik makes a bold Winds of Winter prediction regarding Little Finger.
