The Cincinnati Reds and the Tampa Bay Rays have been rumored to be in trade talks/ Jeff and Steve will tell you why this would not work out for the Reds. Trades will be the best way to bring value to the Reds, and it is great that the Reds are involved in trade rumors, but this won't work. The Rays are not looking to make a needle-moving trade and the Reds should not trade prospects unless it moves the needle. The Reds do need more starting pitching though. As the rotation battle looks right now, the pool of talent from Brandon Williamson, to Levi Stoudt, to Justin Dunn, to Conner Overton, to Luis Cessa is shallow. The Reds need to add more pitching talent at the MLB level. Also, with cuts about to happen we give you our picks for guys who should be brought back after being cut from the Reds 40-man roster.*SUBSCRIBE* on YouTube and *FOLLOW* the podcast on your favorite app and on Twitter and Instagram @lockedonredsAlso follow @jefffcarr and @soffenbaker on TwitterJOIN THE DISCORD SERVER: https://discord.gg/STMcRDyMCtSupport Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built Bar Built Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Jonathan India is in the middle of a hitting streak that is his longest in his young career for the Cincinnati Reds. Jeff is convinced this is more than just about the numbers for India and that's why the Reds are allowing him to finish out the season. Justin Dunn pitched well before the Reds pulled him after just four innings, we'll look at why David Bell and Derek Johnson decided to pull him. The Reds have seen some nice contributions from Chuck Robinson and Austin Romine in the batter's box, may have a singles machine in Alejo Lopez, and were happy to introduce Derek Law to the Reds bullpen. Also, there is a player who really wasn't on the Reds radar who is now working his way into the future conversation.*SUBSCRIBE* on YouTube and *FOLLOW* the podcast on your favorite app and on Twitter and Instagram @lockedonredsAlso follow @jefffcarr and @soffenbaker on TwitterJOIN THE DISCORD SERVER: https://discord.gg/STMcRDyMCtSupport Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built Bar Built Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Jeff and Steve look at how the Reds can remedy this roster wreck. Justin Dunn showed some promise, though for the Reds in the series finale and Dauri Loretta is back. Jeff and Steve look at the awesome performances by Jose Barrero and Joey Votto and what a good Barrero could mean for the rapid Reds rebuild. Two childhood friends catching up. We broke down his entire career till present day. He's currently in the Major Leagues for pitching the Seattle Mariners. What a journey to the pros from little league in Queens, travel ball in Long Island, his high school career at The Gunnery, turned things around at Boston College. Got more serious about his grades, as baseball was almost taken away from him. Academic success translated to him having success on the field and in the weight room. Became a rising star and dominated the Cape Cod league helping his draft stock. Got a big win in the college regionals and during the same time period drafted in the firs round by the Mets. Minor league pitcher of the year and his dreams are coming true but then he was treated to the Mariners. He felt it was meant to be and one of the best things that could of happened to him. "Stay true to yourself, learn yourself and become who you need to be for you" Justin Dunn
Jerry Dipoto joins the show to discuss Abraham Toro exceeding expectations, possible return dates for Kyle Lewis, Justus Sheffield and Justin Dunn and his thoughts on heading to New York with the wild card race heating up.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
