TGS gets (not wrongly) accused of being misogynistic after a series of episodes with Jenna portraying powerful women who are thwarted by their periods. Here it is nerds, the finale to 30 Rock and Go To There. Come on dummies, we can't waste too much time, there's a lot happening here this week! As Liz starts her new life as a stay-at-home mom, she's quickly thrust back into the world of TGS before the second act can even begin. As Kenneth notifies her that one final episode of TGS must be created of NBC has to pay 30 million dollars to Tracy, will Liz be able to leave the TV world behind? Elsewhere, Jack is doing well in his new CEO role of Kabletown, and despite reassuring Kenneth he's happy, has accomplishing his dream satisfied him, or is there nowhere else to go for this Alexander of the corporate world? Back at TGS, Jenna struggles being a non-actor (thereby not getting attention) and seeks out to find her new role in entertainment. Will she also find her new career? Finally, Tracy is struggling with TGS ending as the family and friends he's made are harder to say goodbye to than he ever expected. Will the gang stay in touch, or will their lives be forever changed after their last goodbye? It's been an absolute pleasure bring your Go To There every week for the last two-and-a-half years, and we cannot thank you all enough for joining us on this journey with us. This isn't farewell, but simply "goodbye for now..." As always, if you'd like to donate for production costs, website hosting, etc, hit up our Ko-Fi link to do so. So shines a podcast episode in a weary world! With only one more episode left, 30 Rock is nearing that finish line, with many of its character's lives changing and stories wrapping up. As Liz's work world is crashing down around her, with Jack giving her one more chance to save TGS, can she make the magic happen again; all while her adoption is closing at the same time? Speaking of Jack, in his new role as CEO of Kabletown, his first task is determining the new president of NBC, and despite not having a chocolate factory and indoor boat at his disposable, he's going to "Willy Wonka" his candidates. But when Kenneth takes it too seriously by misunderstanding the idea, will Jack's plan backfire, or will a goon win in the end? We're at the penultimate episode of 30 Rock and Go To There, so hurry to the airport to grab your chili, it's podcast time! Grab your tickets, oranges, and long-sleeve SPF shirts, we're going to Florida, y'all! As Jack and Liz are invited down to Florida to collect Colleen's final effects, they quickly learn Colleen's live-in nurse may have been just more than a friend. Will Martha's woodworking and "lumpy flowers" help them clue in on the truth? Meanwhile, back in NY at TGS, Tracy and Jenna are left in charge, and are tasked with running the place, along with learning of a lawsuit out against Kabletown and the show. Needing to do the right thing by doing the wrong thing, can they convince Kenneth to sell out his morals to save their careers and livelihoods? We're getting closer and closer to 30 Rock's ending, we're finally answering lingering questions and truly feeling like the sunset is upon us. Stay tuned for the final episodes as no amount of "lumpy flower" vases will deter it. As always, if you'd like to donate for production costs, website hosting, etc, hit up our Ko-Fi link to do so. Anything can happen on live TV, and this week's Go To There analyzes the good, the bad, and the ugly sides of what it has had to offer. When Jack decided TGS has costs Kabletown too much money being a live show, he plans to convert it a taped presentation, and it's up to Kenneth to save the show. Will his memories of failed live sitcom finales, racially tense live shows, and other sketch programs be enough to sway the cast and crew to stay live, or will the promise of two work weeks a year be too good to pass up? Additionally, Jenna wants nothing less than to be proposed to on live TV by Paul, but when they try and tell Jenna she's doing it for the wrong reasons, will it convince her ego to step aside for the benefit of their love and relationship? Just like 30 Rock's previous live episode, there are numerous differences in the different airings (airings that legally impossible to find online) and we do our best to point out and share the differences for the audience. The risk of live TV is arguably rarely worth the reward, but 30 Rock has proved with sharp writing and talent, you can pull it off. Just lose the blackface next time so more viewers can experience it all and the whole idea of losing history by losing it to history because of an outdated minstrel stereotype and racially insensitive themes. This week's 30 Rock aims to make you as comfortable as possible, while making you possibly uncomfortable simultaneously. As Jack is ready to introduce his newest Kabletown undertaking to the masses, he's soon reminded why AMerican workers aren't as highly praised as his 1950s mindset wants him so hard to believe. Can he save his new endeavor, or like all Americans, weasel his way out of it? Elsewhere, Liz and Criss discover an old box of adoption stuff from Liz's past, and their relationship must cross a bridge they each believe the other isn't sure wants to cross. Finally, Jenna is spiraling out of control with the latest celebrity fad: public celebrity breakdown. WIll her plan to win Paul work, or is he left in Kouchie's soft arms forever? Don't worry, we won't ask you to listen on a Kabletown Kouchtown couch, but get comfy, nerds, Go To There is here! Worry not, fellow thespians, we shant say the name of the famed Scottish play and put a curse upon thee, so enjoy this week's Go To There! Liz Lemon is doing her taxes and gets a reality call that says she's been living the same life for the past three years, and vows to make a change for the next 12 months. As Jack is still feeling unfulfilled at Kabletown, so he invokes the "Shower Principle" to kickstart his brain and figure out his new path for his career and the company. But will his thoughts produce the correct choices for him and Kabletown? Meanwhile, as Jenna is preparing to perform in a sketch about Shakespeare's Mac-- er, Scottish play, she fears she's curs-ed and doomed after taking on the role. But is Mayor McCheese perhaps responsible for her bad luck... or someone else? This week's 30 Rock is all about finding your new goal and avoiding murder, y'know, normal everyday realities we all face! Apologies for this show being about a week late, as we had some issues out of our control that prevented us from meeting up to do our show on schedule. Thanks a lot for everything, Kabletown, we hope you’re enjoying giving WWE those $200 million checks for the next five years. Wear your green, don't leave your children at Sears, and tune into the Go To There's St Patrick's Day episode of 30 Rock! As Liz and Criss are skipping the events, staying at home, they get un an invited guest in a past love of Liz's: Dennis Duffy. Is he here to reignite that spark, or will Liz finally give him the boot once and for all? Elsewhere, Jack's working through the weekend and joins the writers for a game of Colonizers of Malaar, wherein he (once again) metaphors his life at Kabletown. Will this be the revelatory kick in the bum to push him out of his funk? Finally, it's the first time that Hazel must do Kenneth's former duties of taking care of Tracy and Jenna, and it's not going well. Between opening up old wounds and creating new ones, Hazel may be in over her head, but can Kenneth forget his old life, or will ne nobly assist her? As we're halfway through season 6 of 30 Rock, with a final season looming closer and closer, it seems 30 Rock are beginning to put pieces in place to set up a final adventure for the gang, join us through the end, won't you? It's a magical day that only comes once every four years, and at 30 Rock, it's time for Leap Day, complete with a Jim Carrey/Andie MacDowell tie-in movie! After Liz runs into an old College classmate Thad Warmald (Steve Little), he invites her to his Leap Day party. But then Jenna learns who he is and how rich he has become since college and is now Liz's plus-one to seduce and become a gold-digger. But then Thad propositions Liz to take his virginity, and he clock starts ticking before the hot bitches usurp Liz's opportunity. Elsewhere, Jack is Scroog-ing it up with Kabletown's latest acquisition, and as he starts forgetting the important things like his past, present, and future, it's up to the Ghosts of Leap Day Past, Present, and Future to remind him of what's really important. Finally, when Tracy has his own Leap Day miracle in finding a nearly expired Benihana gift card, he shares the wealth with his TGS family, but is concerned when he fears he's not doing enough. Can his elegant, but sad face save the day and help his fellow man? So start your crying, get your candy, and do the things you would never do, as Leap Day Williams says "real life is for March, and nothing that happens on February 29 counts." Mazel tov, Go To There listeners! This week's 30 Rock has us celebrating the growth we all go through, whether it's at your job, or in the Jewish faith idea. Liz's contract is up for negotiations, and when it's time to talk money, she takes it upon herself to get the most out of her contract, but Jack's unfulfilled role at Kabletown has his eager to negotiate and push Liz to her limits. Meanwhile, as Kenneth is felling unappreciated and unnoticed after his absence last week, he seeks the writer's room to take notice by switching jobs for the day with Hazel Wassername (Kristen Schaal). Will Kenneth's value be found, or is he lost in the shuffle at 30 Rock? Finally, at their attorney son's Bar Mitzvah, Jenna and Tracy are forced to put on an act that is not beloved. But when they talk to the unhappy man of honor, they learn that their actions have effects, and vow to be "haw-naist" and tell it like it is going forward. As 30 Rock's 6th season rolls on, and the characters are getting more development and growth, we're here for every second of it, so as the Hebrew people say: "l'chaim!" 5 seasons, and dozens of hours later, here we are: episode 100 of 30 Rock! This is a busy one, so hold on, nerds, we're taking our time... With Hank Hooper threatening TGS with cancellation after their 100th episode, Liz and her crew set out to make the best TGS episode ever and save their show! Unfortunately for Liz, it would seem everyone is out to sabotage her luck and when Jack leaves her in a lurch, and Dennis sesk to leech off of her once again, can Tracy save the day? However, for Tracy, he's back from "Africa", but his star power is preventing him from returning to the easy life, nad no matter what he does, he cannot rid himself of his good persona. Can he shake all the good he's done in the last few months and get back to the easy life, or will he be A-list forever more? Meanwhile, as the end of TGS is looming, Jenna finally comes to the conclusion that a baby brings attention and at the suggestion of Kenneth, contemplates becoming a mother. Will her hormones win out, or can her hysterical drive to remain a star prevent a uterus turd from stealing focus? Finally, as Jack is faced with the realization that he's settled into a life with Kabletown that is not what he pictured in his younger days, he's greeted with three alternate Jack's to show him what what was, is, and could be depending on his choices. Will past, alternate and future Jack show him the way, or will he betray Liz and 30 Rock to look out for just Jack? This is a monumental moment for 30 Rock and Go To There, and in an episode of cameos, self-referential material, and callbacks, we hope you stick with us. With only a couple of episode left in this season, help us close out 2020 with one of 30 Rock's strongest seasons! With Tracy's absence affecting more and more each week, Jack lets Liz know that a forced hiatus is going to occur for TGS and that kicks in everyone's backup plan; everyone but Liz that is. When she's forced to faced the potential finale of her show, and everyone else with a backup response to their careers, Liz is a woman lost, lingering for her next mission, even getting advice from Aaron Sorkin. But as Jack's job is safe with Kabletown, his new acquisition, a gay TV networks "TWINKS" isn't growing in the way Jack needs it to. Desperate for a way out, he enlists his rival Devin Banks (Will Arnett) to be his fall guy. Unfortunately for Jack, Devin's new life full of gaybies has him more than prepared for the lifestyle that Kabletown provides versus GE's. 30 Rock's nearing the season 5 finale, and Go To There is in the height of one of its strongest episode runs, so join us as we inch nearer the epic 100th episode and beyond! Welcome to QOJ with Curtis and David as we tackle the latest episode of the hit reality show: "Queen of Jordan"! As Angie's new single "My Single Is Dropping" is dropping prepares its launch party, 30 Rock employees Jack Donaghy and Liz Lemon aim to use it as an excuse to convince her husband, Tracy to return to 30 Rock and TGS. Meanwhile, TGS star Jenna Maroney is continuously waging war with QOJ stars and Portia steps in to help her with her seeming alcohol abuse, but will Jeena accept the help of those who care for her and their intervention? Additionally, as Randi is ready to share her own news, she decides to help TGS writer Frank Rossitano reunite with a teacher, Lynn Onkman (Susan Sarandon) who took advantage of him (look, there's no really nice way to describe this horrific storyline, we apologize) when he was her student. WIll love renew, or has Frank's arrested development caused him too much damage? Finally, D'Fwan thinks Kabletown executive Jack Donaghy might be batting for the same team and aims to open him up to his world, but D'Fwan may not be ready for what Jack's coming to the game with. There is plenty of wine-throwing, name-calling, and betrayal in this week's Queen of Jordan, so grab your HAY-UM and join Go To There as we piece together this beloved classic episode. It's time for 30 Rock and TGS to face the music, in this week's Go To There! In another example of art imitating life, the writer's of TGS are put on blast in a hard-hitting article criticizing their depiction(s) of women on TV. However, Liz sets out to show how not non-feminist they are and hires a guest writer: Abby Flynn (Christin Milioti). But, when Abby shows up to be the perceptually opposite of what Liz is wanting to promote, she aims to help Abby "grow up." Elsewhere in 30 Rock, Jack has the renewed life goal of becoming CEO of Kabletown, but understands that family is thicker than water. As he learns that the most likely inheritor of Kabletown's top position is Hank Hooper's 14 year old granddaughter Kaylie (Chloë Grace Moretz), he whips up a plan to destroy her future; but unlocks his past as a result, along with a sleeping dragon in Kaylie. 30 Rock has shown consecutively now that, despite Tracy being brought in its first episode to "save TGS", there are still characters and stories of the people inside the TGS world that can showcase quality entertainment. We hope his African sabbatical does him well, but with this recent string of episodes and the upcoming "Queen of Jordan", 30 Rock shows it doesn't need the famed actor of hits like "Who Dat Ninja?" and "Fat Bitch" to excel! On this week's Go To There, we get a mini-mystery that harkens back to many Agatha Christie novels after Liz dives headfirst into Spinsterhood. Can she be pulled out of her newfound life, or is it just her and her new cat Emily Dickinson versus the world?Elsewhere Pete and Frank begin their new journey: Soundmound. After Frank's inspiring lyrics and Pete's history in music, the two set out to rock the town, but will their egos and differences split the band before they make it big? Finally, as Jack sets out to negotiate with the Kabletown board, he must first face down his daughter's nanny who's charging him far more than he thinks she's worth, but she may be able to teach a thing or two in regards to negotiation in the end. Despite being a filler episode and not advancing too much in 30 Rock's world, we like to think "It's Never Too Late For Now" stands atop the filler pile as a standout. From its wild mystery to the slow unraveling of it all (and Soundmound, RIP), it's an excellent episode to enjoy! As we begin a new era with Kabletown in charge of 30 Rock, Jack meets his new boss Hank Hooper (Ken Howard) who's demeanor and changes to Jack's day-to-day may be the end of Jack's time with the company he's long adored. Elsewhere, Avery is under the watchful, driven eyes of her competition Carmen Chao (Vanessa Lachey) who wants her job, and is out to prove Avery's pregnant and unfit for the promotion. So Liz becomes the hero and fakes being pregnant to save Avery and Jack, but is she ready for the newfound rumors and attention? Finally, in a brief C-plot, Tracy and Jenna, two people who never get what they want, are torn between a sweater, and just as they've become good friend, it stands to unravel itself over its possession. ¡Qué Sorpresa! was a surprise for us and is continuing the solid run of season 5 episodes, and we at Go To There appreciate your help in getting us this far, whether you're pretending or not! Welcome to a new era of 30 Rock and TGS: the Kabletown years. As Jack's beloved company becomes a new entity, he vows to keep up his ability to "innovent" (a word he innovented) and produce a new relief special for the next inevitable natural disaster, with guest stars like Robert De Niro, but are his morals in the right place when he aims to ♫ help the people the things that happened happened to? ♫ Elsewhere in 30 Rock, Liz and Tracy are at each other's throats once again as he's still on his best behavior for his Oscar chances, by ensuring he doesn't look the fool on Angie's new reality show. this obviously interferes with TGS production and unleashes Liz's boss mode, but it seems Tracy's always one step ahead in getting around work. Finally, after being tasked with coming up with possible natural disasters for Jack's relief fund, the writer's room star imagining their dream world-ending survival scenario. In a small reality twist, after learning Lutz is the only one capable of driving them anywhere, a Bachelor-esque competition begins aiming to be one of the few that can survive and travel the inevitable wasteland with him. 30 Rock's been on a solid roll these last few weeks and we at Go To There couldn't be more excited, as we're loving it! It's a new year at 30 Rock and TGS, as well as a new relationship?! As Jack checks his marriage certificate from this destination wedding, he soon learns that Liz's language barrier costs him once again, as he's officially married to her, instead of Avery! Unfortunately it's a sour honeymoon as jack's sacrificing the TGS studio to showcase the Kabletown owners how profitable they can be, but Liz has ideas in mind to get what she needs from him. Elsewhere Danny and Jenna must share a dressing room due to Jack's whoring of the studio, and are forced to play pretend to protect Kenneth's delicate feelings. But their faux marriage is as tumultuous as one would expect. Finally, Tracy learns he's going to die due to poor diet and Angie must step in and become a breadwinner for the Jordan family. Can her unwillingness to take instruction and orders from anyone stop her from being a success? As Go To There donates an additional 5 million dollars to the The Jack and Elizabeth Donaghy High School for Teen Drama, The Arts, and Feelings, we urge you to do the same, and if you can't listening to our latest episode is helpful enough! This week's 30 Rock has everyone questionsing their morals and ethics as the gang must decide between what's right for them, or right for the rest of the world. When Liz discovers the world's best pair of jeans and gets a huge confidence boost, she soon learns her "Handmade in USA" tag isn't quite right. Elsewhere Jack learns that Congresswoman Bookman is still urging NBC to fix itself before its potential Kabletown merger and he enlists the help of her political rival to run against her. Steve Austin (John Slattery) plays unaffiliated Rhode Island nominee, who wants to give America a renaissance, but also gives Jack the moral dilemma of doing what's right for him, and what's right for the rest of America. Finally, Tracy's Oscar chances have the ability to improve (or possibly crumble) when Jenna convinces him to host a party for the Hollywood Foreign Press, but it may have a larger impact than Jenna ever anticipated. We urge you to do the fin thing of learning of where companies you buy from stem from, because it's quite wild when pull out large enough to see who owns what and who's owned by whom. It's BONKERS! After 5 seasons, someone finally asks the question: "why is NBC so racist?" Congresswoman Bookman (Queen Latifah) of Rhode Island asks this very query to Jack as the Kabletown merger gets closer and closer, causing him to scramble and display as much forced diversity and tokenism as possible at 30 Rock. This is bad timing for Liz, as she's already feeling underappreciated at TGS, but Jack's sudden promotion of Toofer to co-head writer brings out El Tejón in Liz. Finally, Kenneth is trying to return to the Page program at NBC, but finds it's much more complex, but Jenna sees an opportunity; an opportunity to be the stage mom she always wanted to be. Everyone is pouring billions into the original streaming content land rush of 2017 and nobody is happy. Little do these execs know they could pick up the rights to Supermarket Sweep for the price of a Kindle Oasis; heck, Jeff just bought 400 grocery stores, do we even have to connect the dots? This week: Apple’s MacBook Pro chickens are coming home to roost, Disney’s consumer friendly video play, the nuclear waste dump that is Twitter, and sometimes Ryan calls the Comcast CableCARD support line just to say “hi”.
Today's Guest: Maulik Pancholy, actor, "30 Rock," "Whitney," "Weeds" Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience of Kabletown personal assistants vying to replace Jonathan for Jack Donaghy’s… attentions… in the NEW new media capitol of the world… St. Petersburg, Florida! Maulik Pancholy's '30 Rock' character Jonathan is not done with Alec Baldwin yet. (Photo by: Ali Goldstein/NBC) As trade-ups go, it’s hard to beat Maulik Pancholy’s change of scenery. He’s just graduated from recurring character Jonathan on “30 Rock” to Neal, a sensitive renaissance man on the new NBC sitcom “Whitney, starring comedian Whitney Cummings. It airs on Thursdays at 9:30 p.m., sandwiched tightly between “The Office” and “30 Rock.” WHITNEY -- Season:1 -- Pictured: (l-r) Maulik Pancholy as Neal, Rhea Seehorn as Roxanne, Zoe Lister-Jones as Lily, Whitney Cummings as Whitney Cummings, Chris D'Elia as Alex Miller, Dan O'Brien as Mark (Photo by: Mitchell Haaseth/NBC) MAULIK PANCHOLY audio excerpt: "Both shows are NBC shows so there's a really good chance you're going to see Jonathan back on '30 Rock.'" It’s worth noting that he’s also moved from one of the few network sitcoms created and produced by – and starring – a strong woman. At “30 Rock,” it was Tina Fey, now it’s Whitney Cummings. He also appeared on “Weeds” a few years ago selling pot for Mary Louise Parker’s character. It’s nice to see the kid from Tampa’s Berkley Preparatory School continue his upward march to world domination. This is Maulik’s second visit to Mr. Media.
