Send us a textKatie and Bridget tell the entire plot of this movie to a stranger at a nursing home as they re-watch the movie: Fried Green Tomatoes! Come along as meet Evelyn, a housewife who gets ignored constantly until she meets her new BFF Ninny! When she tells the tale of her alleged sister-in-law Idgie and her basically love story with a woman named Ruth, Evelyn learns to stand up for herself and develop multiple personality disorder #Towanda. Idgie and Ruth's story spans over decades and includes numerous train accidents/deaths, the plot to the song "Goodbye Earl", forbidden love, domestic abuse, racism, patriarchal bullshit, and cannibalism! This movie has us asking the deep questions such as: Should all children still be shown PSA videos about not playing on train tracks like Bridget and Katie experienced as kids? Is murdering your abusive/baby-snatching husband and then barbecuing him to be eaten by strangers sometimes the only way?? WAS NINNY REALLY IDGIE AND THIS WAS HER CONFESSION!? All these and more in this emotional movie! Released in 1991, it stars Kathy Bates, Jessica Tandy, Mary Stuart Masterson, Mary-Louise Parker, Cicely Tyson, Chris O'Donnell, and Stan Shaw.

If you were alive when Fried Green Tomatoes came out -- first Fannie Flagg's book, then the movie -- you may recall it was a phenomenon. To a (very) young Ali Clayton, it was a bit of a personal phenomenon, its only-kinda-coded queerness calling out to her before she even knew why. But beyond that, it was a movie about Southern women in a South that Ali recognized -- one where bad things can happen, but good people are holding each other up through it all. Then Jordan has one quick thing about last weekend's big win for cinemas & cinemagoing.Listen to Y'all Gay?Check out Country Queer***With Jordan Crucchiola and Ali Clayton Feeling Seen is hosted by Jordan Crucchiola and is a production Maximum Fun.Need more Feeling Seen? And then there's Al Pacino as Roy Cohn, in one of the biggest performances we've ever gotten to queen out on. Welcome back to another edition of the Video Store Podcast. In honor of Women's History Month, I've selected four films featuring what I like to call “Wonder Women.” These are women who are brave, kind, strong, and all-around wonderful. This isn't meant to be an exhaustive list—simply four films that resonate with me personally as a woman, and you should watch, whether you're a woman or not. Fried Green Tomatoes (1991)First up is the 1991 Oscar-nominated film, Fried Green Tomatoes. The film stars Mary Stuart Masterson, Mary-Louise Parker, Kathy Bates, and Jessica Tandy, among others. Fried Green Tomatoes is based on the book Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg, who also wrote the first draft of the screenplay. This film flashes between the 1920s and the 1980s, looking at Wonder Women through all stages of life. No matter where you find yourself, Fried Green Tomatoes is a great film to enjoy with the wonderful women in your life. Steel Magnolias (1989)Next up is Steel Magnolias from 1989. Focusing on southern women's culture in the 1980s, Steel Magnolias highlights the friendship among six women who must persevere through difficult circumstances. Starring Shirley MacLaine, Olympia Dukakis, Sally Field, Julia Roberts, Dolly Parton, Daryl Hannah, and Tom Skerritt, Steel Magnolias expertly blends comedy and drama, making a great movie full of Wonder Women. 9 to 5 (1980)The second Dolly Parton film in today's line-up is 9 to 5. The film, in addition to Dolly Parton, features Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, and Dabney Coleman. Highlighting 1980s office politics that are unfortunately still all too relevant today, 9 to 5 tackles serious women's issues with humor, making their points even more effective and poignant. This is a great laugh after the tear-jerking drama after Steel Magnolias and Fried Green Tomatoes. Alien (1979)The last film in our Wonder Women selections is 1979's Alien directed by Ridley Scott. Starring Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, Veronica Cartwright, Yaphet Kotto, John Hurt, Ian Holm, Harry Dean Stanton, and Bolaji Badejo as the Xenomorph, Alien, is a phenomenal sci-fi horror film. Alien's leading wonder woman, Ripley, played by Sigourney Weaver, is an amazing sci-fi heroine. She's smart, brave, and resourceful, totes a flamethrower, and has a kitty-cat sidekick. What more do you want in a film about a Wonder Woman? We hope you enjoy these films and come back and see us next week on the Video Store Podcast. Thanks for reading Video Store Podcast! Welcome to Director Watch! On this AwardsWatch podcast, co-hosts Ryan McQuade and Jay Ledbetter attempt to breakdown, analyze, and ultimately, get inside the mind of some of cinema's greatest auteurs. In doing so, they will look at their filmographies, explore what drives them artistically and what makes their decision making process so fascinating. Add in a few silly tangents and a fun game at the end of the episode and you've got yourself a podcast we truly hope you love. On episode 91 of the Director Watch Podcast, the boys discuss a miniseries event for their Mike Nichols series, the multi-Emmy winning Angels in America (2003). There were a lot of films and stage productions that made Mike Nichols the household name that he was in Hollywood, but when HBO's Angels in America came out in the early 2000s, he introduced himself to a brand new audience with one of the most important pieces of television to ever be created. Following the lives of multiple individuals as they navigate life in 1980s New York City during the AIDS epidemic, Nichols examined the social, sexual, and religious implications of the deadly illness, and delivered a profound piece of art that remains just as vital today as it was back in 2003. Led by an all-star Emmy-winning cast of Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Jeffrey Wright and Mary-Louise Parker, who swept all four main acting wins, Angels in America is a definitive achievement found within Nichols' career and there was no way the boys were going to pass up the chance to talk about it. Ryan and Jay break down their thoughts on the six-hour television event, who they think gave the best performance, Nichols direction, what the show is trying to say about humans, AIDS, and forgiveness, and tease their upcoming series on the films of Elaine May. You can listen to the Director Watch Podcast wherever you stream podcasts, from iTunes, iHeartRadio, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Spotify, Audible, Amazon Music and more. This podcast runs 2h21m. We present our review of The West Wing (Season 3)!The third season of the American political drama television series The West Wing aired in the United States on NBC from October 3, 2001 to May 22, 2002 and consisted of 21 episodes and 2 special episodes. The season premiere was delayed by the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States. When the season did return, the first episode was a special episode titled "Isaac and Ishmael," in which the main cast paid tribute to those affected by the attacks and informed viewers about what to expect from the delayed premiere.Series creator Aaron Sorkin acknowledged in October 2002 that the terrorism-related plots designed to keep the series relevant after the real-life attacks were awkward at times, saying "from week to week, you felt like you were writing the show handcuffed, a little bit. I didn't know how to write it anymore. It was a constant search for what I wasn't doing that used to make the show work. Maybe there was a way to make it work. There probably was. I wasn't able to find it in twenty-two episodes."Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

This week on Remainders, we talk the 2007 gem The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Partially forgotten and possibly overshadowed by No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood upon its release, Assassination is absolutely an essential modern western. Brad Pitt plays Jesse James who is put on a pedestal by Casey Affleck's Robert Ford. As Ford idolizes and fawns over James and tries to become one of the gang, he learns the man and the myth do not align. A story about paranoia and disillusionment that is both poetic and dreamlike, elevated by Roger Deakins' cinematography and Nick Cave and Warren Ellis' epic score.Other topics include the woes of streaming, Kurt Russell battling Godzilla, what makes for a great film score, the sad Affleck brothers, and difficulties with tongue twister movie titles.Songs of the WeekBlame Brett by The BeachesReady Steady Go by Solid State RadioFrank and Jesse James by Warren ZevonRemainders Jukebox PlaylistWebsiteFacebookInstagramYouTubeTwitter

'Weeds' Reboot Moves Back to Showtime: In 2019, news broke that a Weeds sequel starring Mary Louise Parker in her familiar role as pot dealing housewife Nancy Botwin was in the works. After landing at Lionsgate and Starz, the deal has moved to Showtime, the series' original home. "The Weeds revival would be written, and executive produced by Christian Torpe, creator of the popular Danish series Rita, and would feature Nancy (Parker) in Copenhagen, I hear." WHAT!!!!!?? Enjoy ;)

Welcome to Season 4 of Not A Bomb, the podcast that reexamines some of the biggest bombs in cinematic history! This week, the guys tackle the criminally underseen American Western from 2007 (possibly one of the greatest years in cinema) - The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Based on the book of the same name, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, chronicles…you guessed it…the assassination of Jesse James. Even with its modest budget, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford failed to recoup its production budget and was only given a very limited theatrical release. Some critics, however, thought it was one of the best films of the year and this little seen Western received two academy award nominations. Listen as Troy and Brad discuss modern mob films, marvel at Roger Deakins, and decide if this is one of the best films of the last few decades. Gleaming The Tube

2004's SAVED!, directed by Brian Donnelly (who also co-wrote the film) follows a teenaged girl played by Jena Malone who attends a Christian high school and, as part of an attempt to “cure” her boyfriend of his homosexuality, winds up pregnant and facing the ostracization of her classmates, most notably the self-righteous Hillary Fae, played by Mandy Moore. The film also stars Patrick Fugit, Martin Donovan, Eva Amuri, Macaulay Culkin and the always effervescent Mary Louise Parker. Kevin and Mike tackle the film's portrayal of religion, the way some people distort Christian messages to suit their own prejudices, the cast, the movie's status as a time capsule of mid-2000s culture, and the skateboarding antics of Patrick Fugit's rebellious Christian missionary. Hallelujah, it's a new Gleaming the Tube!

Blue-Collar Love Song - John Turturro's Romance & Cigarettes I've been wanting to talk this movie for quite some time. I'm not exactly sure when and where I first saw John Turturro's Romance & Cigarettes. I had heard stories of a "Working-Class, James Gandolfini led Romantic/Musical Comedy". With no idea what to expect, the film would finally find it's way into limited release sometime in 2007 - shortly after it would find its way to home video, where - I believe - I finally saw it. It exceeded any expectations I may have had and did away with any fears that may have come with it. I love this film and am thrilled to finally get Mr. Chavez to sit down and give it a watch. This is a fun talk looking into a surprising, tender, and heartfelt performance from James Gandolifini; with Susan Sarandon, Kate Winslet, Steve Buscemi, Aida Turturro, Mandy Moore, Mary Louise Parker, and stand-out performances from Christopher Walken (excessively Christopher Walken) and the great Broadway actress, Elaine Stritch in a beautifully nuanced performance that will make you realize the injustice of her not having a lengthier filmography. There's quite a bit to unpack here. We hope you enjoy the talk. Questions, Comments, Complaints, and Suggestions can be directed to gondoramos@yahoo.com. Many Thanks.
